Looking for the Good Tier builds which are not in the meta. The good tier build doesn’t have to be more powerful than the meta build. Just builds that can handle itself well with almost equally skilled players with meta builds. These builds can fulfill a role well but other professions can do it better.
Meaning, if GW2 added a gw2pvx , these builds will make it into the good section.
I’ll start:
If the build is not from here and it works, go ahead and post it.

Crossbow existed in the Guild Wars universe.
Edge of Destiny spoilers: 5 years before the start of GW2, Ebon Vanguard used Crossbow to defend themselves against the Invaders.
If ANet added crossbows, it shouldn’t be a new weapon type. It would be much easier to just replace rifles with crossbow skins. Just like the slingshot for the shortbow.

Suggestion:
When a player interrupts a boss with defiance stack, the boss takes extra damage. If a player interrupts a boss that no longer has any defiance stack, the boss takes a huge hit. 10%, 20%, 50%, 99% hp damage or whatever the devs feel is balanced. Notice: It must have an interrupt message to take extra damage.
Why?
It probably will never hurt FGS 4 spam, It probably will never hurt the meta DPS build. But, It will give useless weapons a purpose, worth, and the skill to use.
This suggestion would be the easiest to balance as it doesn’t really change from a gameplay standpoint, and that it only involves number changing.

I would replace Vital striking for Tempest defense.
Tempest Defense helps protects me from random thieves with basilisk venom coming in to gank me. With good positioning, the real danger is only these thieves that can go over the obstacles with ease through shadowstepping.
What I always tend to do is place Lava font right on top of downed players. Lava font hits like a truck. It is basically a ranged Hundred blades. Ressers will try to res their allies. But instead, they die trying because of the massive damage. Lava font outdps the player’s heals so it is incredibly hard for players to get their team up. Even if there is no one around to res the downed player, lava font will melt the downed player very quickly. Additionally, most Downed players can’t move. Lava font has very low cooldown. The point is: There is low risk and high reward just by putting lava font directly on the downed player, even randomly.

Wow. WOW! You dare to mock me when you have no idea what you are talking about?
Warriors/Rangers/Guardians/Necromancer/Mesmer/thieves have to go to their inventory and take their mobility weapon out too if they want to switch it out from their fighting weapon set.
Wow. WOW! You do know that not everyone has them in the inventry. Most actually run with them. The amount of times i have been fighting Warriors and them use GS to run away shows that people do use “mobility” weapons for combat as well.
A few warriors with a GS means most warrior/rangers/mesmers/necromancers/guardians runs with a mobility weapon. So smart! And that is why D/D ele and triple kit engies should get a out of combat weapon set instead of Axe and board warriors/GS mesmers/Longbow ranger/Scepter and dagger necro/pistol and dagger thieves.
They don’t deserve to get out of combat switch. They should be clicking on the inventory like a plebian while Ele and engies should be able to click on a button to instantly switch because they are the special snowflake.

GW1 Paragon; its definitely the most unique class I have ever played in a mmorpg. Even Dervish and Ritualist and are not as unique IMO because they simply feel like scout and pet classes in other games.
Give Guardians a Spear, and you get a Paragon.

- What we lack:
- an ‘evil’ heavy class: Executioner? Punisher? Blackguard?
- technology/magic mix: Tinker? Alchemist?
- non-heavy melee class: Brawler? This is partly filled by warrior.
- heavy ranged class: Paragon-like,
- Dye the warrior/guardian’s armor black and you have an evil heavy class.
- Elementalist if you want technology mage. Just get the Adamant weapon set + mechanical backpiece + Fused guantlets + Sorrow Embrace armor. If you want alchemy/tinkering stuff, there is engineer.
- Ranger/thieves
- Warrior with Longbow or Rifle/Guardian with Scepter.

They have a weapon swap feature that works in combat and out of combat???
Elementalist has four set of weapon slots to switch to IN and OUT of combat.
Engineer has the capacity to swap between 4 weapon slots IN and OUT of combat. They have the ability to swap instantly too.
Warriors/Mesmer/Guardian/Thieves/Ranger has only two weapon slots and Necromancers have only 3.

Damage done = (Weapon strength) * Power * (skill-specific coefficient) / (target’s Armor)
so, lets say you get hit by evisicerate and you have base armor of 3000.
Axe’s weapon str is 900-1100, lets round it to 1000
Let’s assume the enemy has 2400 power.
Evis lvl3 has coefficient of 3so without Rousing, you will take
1000 * 2400 * 3 / 3000 = 2400 hit, and with crit dmg of 200% it would be 4800
with rousing,
1000 * 2400 * 3 / 4000 = 1800 hit, and with 200% crit its 3600

If playing how you want infringes on someone else playing how they want, nothing will ever be solved. Inspect someone and see they have their own build and aren’t zerker, kick right away without even saying anything. Am I doing it right?
Also DPS meters? Really? In a game that basically just consists of 5 man groups of all DPS, I don’t think DPS meters are needed in the least other than to stroke Berserker’s kitten and the need to see the big numbers. And yes, I understand you said nothing about Berserker, but that is honestly how your post comes off.
1. The other way around works too. If someone else plays how they want which I don’t approve, it will infringe on how I play how I want if I let them in my party. In this case, if you don’t want to take the time to equip for the right equipment in my party, then create your own party that accepts anybody even with lower gear levels.
2. There are people that wants to find the highest DPS ever and then there are people like me. I will need DPS meters to know how much DPS I have for this build. I can choose to sacrifice DPS for utility if I need to. Let say that I want to use Ranger Axe/Axe build. First I look for the highest dps possible, then I shave off the dps for utility/survivability if I choose to. There are builds for highest DPS for warriors; however, they all use Greatsword or axe/mace, yet there are no builds for highest mace DPS build. As a mace guy, I assure that it will reinforce on playing how I want.
And this is exactly why it doesn’t exist. Those people who don’t like a person’s build so they just kick them? Yeah, that’s you. The elitism just drips from your post. Sorry that you feel the need to approve of other player’s builds. The “right equipment” isn’t decided by anybody other than the player.
You missed the part where using whatever gear that will hurt the party dps will infringe on my playstyle. It is my party, I created the LFG with the title: “Zerker and experienced only!” I do not want to invite any players that will waste unnecessary time in the dungeon run with DPS so low, it will take for hours to complete.
If you don’t like the way how I play, make your own party. You don’t need to join my party. It cost 0 gold 0 silver 0 copper to make your own lfg. I do create and join parties that accept anyone. These parties do exist and there are players willing to join these parties.
I didn’t miss it though. If you made the party and said “zerker only etc” and that person doesn’t meet that criteria and joined party anyway, then certainly kick them. If the group said Ping gear and they don’t, then kick them. My points are for groups that don’t specifically state what criteria they want in a group, but simply inspect their gear and automatically assume they’re bad. For groups with specifically stated criteria that some scrub joins anyway, by all means kick their butt out.
…versus players looking at their achievement points and automatically assume that they are bad?

Mesmers Eles and Warriors are hard-countered by thieves. Unfortunately, there are lots of hard-counters in this game (on average: Necro > Engi, Warrior > Necro, Thief > Warrior, Engi > Thief, etc.).
This is, of course, assuming an equal skill level of the players.
Warrior hard countered by thieves ? lol ? In what world ? I’m a trash warrior and I kill thieves with no effort at all.
Then all you did was fight trash thieves.
A good thief would never let you damage them at all with evade/blind/shadowstep/stealth spam. Their DPS can outdamage your healing signet and kill you.

So its logical to instead bring everything else up to the match the
disproportional element. Well. That mindset certainly worked out well for Guild Wars pvp back in the day.The new player bit can be argued many different ways. Catacombs is the Queensdale of dungeons, and it pretty much suffers similar issues when you bring up new players. Perhaps even more so, considering no other dungeon compares in reward/time/difficulty ratio.
Crying nerf is also fairly meaningless. Was HotW1 nerfed by adding the AC troll? Was SE nerfed by making the blockades unavoidable? TA-Foward, with the silly wall-climb? Most dungeons have similar things these days. All of which decrease the challenge, speed up the run, and further that reward gap.
Right now, a number of dungeon bosses do not use their most devastating abilities if a group stacks. That is silly, and the very definition of exploiting a weak AI. Why exactly would you want this to continue, let alone be the most rewarding venue of play? “Stack in corner, collect gold” is a fairly crappy game.
Ignoring the poorly worded insults. ANet has the data. They can and will do what they will with the rates. What I’m telling them is that as a player, this too easy and too good to pass up. And that raises some pretty severe concerns about the lifespan of the game.
Yes, I want AI to be more challenging.
But, how does that justify lower rewards?
4x Necromancer, 3x Mesmer, 4x Guardian, 4x Thief, 4 Revenant
Well by all means, explain why static, exploitable content should be the most rewarding.
How about instead you tell us why other more difficult content shouldn’t have their rewards upped? Why does this need to be nerfed?
Asinine logic as always.
If the game is too rewarding, then you wouldn’t buy gems to convert it to gold.

You can rant, pout and insult all you like. But most dungeons do take less time and skill than about any other aspect in the game , yet pay out considerably more. That hardly seems a good thing.
But I am sorry if that upsets your tinfoil hats, or “I hate this game/company yet continue to play!” sensibilities.
Do AC p1/p3, SE p1/p3, TA FFkitten HotW p1 dungeon, those “easy” dungeons, with only a group of players that has less than 1000 ap and is doing the dungeon for the first time. I want to know how long it takes till you realize you are wrong. Oh, and bonus round: No instructing the players on how to play.

Yeah, Im 99.9% sure Id never get a group if someone saw my stats like that. I use my shortbow the vast majority of the time in dungeons because its the only weapon i feel I can use for most situations, but its not overly strong. As a thief Ive set up using mostly power, precision and toughness. Its not right for someone to kick me from a group just because they don’t like how I set up to play.
So make your own group. Only you get to care how you want your group to play or they get kicked.
It cost 0 gold 0 silver 0 copper to create your own lfg.
99% of the time, I never see the zerker/exp/level 80 parties. Should I put up and join the casual parties? No. I create my own lfg and watch how fast it fills up.
But you are effectively forcing the community into 2 groups.
I can understand why you would want such a feature, but a simple DPS meter doesn’t truly relate to skill or effectiveness. Maybe I am good at staying alive and can quickly res people? You don’t know that. Maybe I just cant afford the best gear? I’m not rich, and only have about 6-7 gold consistently. I may be wearing all exotic armor, but my accessories are mostly rares, because the exotic versions are stupidly expensive. I do have 2 ascended accessories, and am working on an ascended weapon, but you are proposing to castrate me from 50% of the groups because I’m not a power player with tons of money to buy all the best equipment. I know how to play PvE content, and I’m fairly good at staying alive, but you and your proposed DPS meter wouldn’t even allow me to prove my worth simply because a number wasn’t high enough for your standards.
You: “I’m sorry, you are X class, so you should be using Y armor and have Z stats. I don’t want you.”
Well kitten you too. I don’t want to play with a judgmental prick anyway.
Me: "I put up a message with high dps only. Please read. I don’t want you. " /kicks

I would like to see these two things in game. By allowing players like me use these tools, you are making it possible for us to “play how we want”. What’s wrong with being able to control the quality of player that I let into my party?
