Why completely invent a whole new class when it can easily be solved with a simple weapon addition?

Is it just me or are the dailies extremely bland and repetitive?
Surely when creating content like dailies it’s made to break the repetitive nature of the game and vary what a player does every day. I understand that Anet is trying to make them have a wide scope so any type of player can do them but I think moving the community around the map and giving them different things to do everyday is more important.
When I heard about dailies I was thinking more along the lines of the following dailies. Please tell me that you would enjoy these more than the ones we have currently.
- Platinum Miner: Mine 20 platinum ore.
- Herb Lover IV: Harvest from 15 Mature herb seedlings.
- Dragon Slayer: Help defeat a dragon in the open world.
- Masterpieces: Create 20 Masterwork quality items.
- Dredge Slaughter: Kill 20 Dredge.
- Poison Cleanser: Cleanse yourself of poison 5 times.
- Spore harvester: Destroy a toxic spore outlet.
- Mordremoth Intimidator: Defeat the mordremoth Champion.
- Queensdale Hero: Complete 5 events in Queensdale.
- Hero’s bluff jumper: Complete the jumping puzzle “hero’s bluff”. (I forgot the name of the jumping puzzle)
This would help move the community around the map to different locations and allow them to appreicate the environment more instead of leaving places completely devoid of any players. It also brings variety to the game and something a little more interesting than the same routine every single day.
Every player has made a routine by now to get certain achieves. For instance, daily kills is easy in queensdale where all the worms are. Gatherer is really boring now! Let’s bring some fun back to achievements!
.
NO!
I am absolutely against this.
Dailies back then were more precise than today dailies. They weren’t fun. They were grindy.
Now, Dailies can be done while playing normally. I don’t need to look at the upper right corner to see if I finished all my dailies.

I suggest evening the playing field by first giving professions like the ranger, engineer and the necromancer the mechanics that other classes are brought into dungeons for. I’m mainly referring to cleave and reflects.
I disagree. ANet should create a demand for what those professions are good at.
Necros are good at condi, but no one need condis in dungeons. If ANet makes condi useful, necros will be very useful.
Condi will never be as useful in dungeons as straight up burst damage until the condition cap is removed or they give bosses and mobs more armor/health all around to make condi the only way to kill them viably. Mordrem mobs are a good example of this where condi removal and placement is needed. Husks do this well too.
Removing the condi cap would make the servers blow up with info and I highly doubt anet will place mobs like that in all the dungeons.

Its quite simple. There doesn’t need to be a completely new system.
?? Quite simply it does because it doesn’t exist ingame. You can think up any system you want … that doesn’t make it magically appear ingame. Skins, animations, rules for access, at a minimum. None of that exists for mounts. If they allow possibility to fly … etc… CLearly you haven’t though about what kind of mounts people are wanting here. They want to climb up on dragons and wolves, etc… because it’s pretty. The argument we need mounts for speed is nonsense because we have that. It’s about aesthetics.
It is simple, you put a player on a mount. Past MMO have tried it, and it works. Maybe you are exaggerating the difficulty of making a mount too much.
4x Necromancer, 3x Mesmer, 4x Guardian, 4x Thief, 4 Revenant
I didn’t want to come back and get caught up in another endless debate over mounts, but what you say here kinda warranted my need to supply you with an observation.
MAGIC FIND This right here is prof that Anet can and will at their discretion compromise functionality and gear, if the desire for change is there. They took a system within the game and changed almost all of it, except for what food and boosters.
I think that comparison is flawed … there was ALWAYS this ingame as a concept, including the idea it could be buffed, etc.. . It was simply modified to be a permanent stat on your character.
The concept of Mounts are NOTHING like MF … nothing ingame works like a traditional mount. It truly is a completely NEW system that is simply not a necessary addition to the game at this time.
Its quite simple. There doesn’t need to be a completely new system.
Put in mounts: Give it a 25% speedboost or 0% speedboost.
Done. There is already speed signet and traits. No need to expand the world over it.
4x Necromancer, 3x Mesmer, 4x Guardian, 4x Thief, 4 Revenant
I want mounts. Why?
Because compromising my build to include perma 25% run speed is stupid.
Because paying through the nose for Traveler’s Runes, which provide little benefit other than perma 25% run speed, is stupid.
Because sacrificing a slot on my skill bar for perma 25% run speed is stupid.
This isn’t about having more maneuverability. People are doing this to move around faster.
Comments about not putting mounts in, what are they?
Takes up resources? Dumb. All content takes resources. Designing minis and tonics take resources. Is there a large scale protest against new minis?
Unnecessary because of waypoints? Dumb. People are already using builds with 25% perma boost. If speed boosts are unnecessary then replace signet of air and traveler’s runes and signet of locust speed boost with something else.
Because GW2 shouldn’t have mounts and players should go play other games that have it? This takes the Darwin prize. GW2 doesn’t have other pvp modes or duels or GvG or raids or “challenging content” or precursor crafting. Should this stop people from asking for them?
I like mounts and I’m prepared to support my argument with my wallet. More than RNG tickets or town clothes or more boosters or MORE BACKPIECES.
If you’re opposed to mounts let your wallet speak.
Well said. As I read the responses, there isn’t a compelling reason to be against them.
4x Necromancer, 3x Mesmer, 4x Guardian, 4x Thief, 4 Revenant
You dont know what is compelling to Anet, in fact the more people that voice their want for them, or even indifference, are the only reasons needed,
Anet are game developers, they constantly add and attempt to create a fun and enjoyable experience for their players as well as entice new ones.
Did they not impose Ascended gear? and with the waypoint system that this game has, it makes it PERFECT for mounts , because they would be truly optional at every level of the game.
You don’t know the workflow of Anet or how it would impact other content, could only mean less cosmetic updates for a while who knows? either way which content is more important than another is purely subjective. There are many things now, that people would rather have had that dev time spent towards mounts.
You are asking for us to compel you which is unnecessary.
If mounts would significantly increase the playerbase , barring tech difficulties, i think Anet would be compelled.
There is a fool-proof way to tell what is compelling for Anet. You make a compelling argument. And see if Anet provides mounts.
In 2 years, there have been maybe 3 cosmetics only mounts. That tells me the arguments provided have not been compelling.
And saying " you have no idea what anet might find compelling" is a cop-out.
You need to make a compelling argument for mounts and hope it’s good enough for Anet to put resources Into it, while overcoming player objection to same. Anet needs to be compelled, in spite of the fact that objection to mounts is passionately felt.
Hey if your argument is good enough, and Anet decides that we will have mounts, then the shoe is on the other foot, and we need to live with their decision, or find another game to play if we find it THAT odious.
But saying " Hey we don’t know what they may find compelling" is not a compelling argument.
Until your side makes them, they will simply see all the arguments made by the anti-mount side, even when we didn’t have to make any other than:
" we agree with Anet’s current and consistent decision to not provide speed boost mounts, and we have reasons for not even wanting cosmetics only mounts."
This " Speed boost mounts with waypoints would make speed boost mounts trully optional." is disingenuous.
ANY type of speed boost will make mounts mandatory, even for those that do not want them, and cannot bare to look at them.
Try again….
Compelling reasons… Compelling enough for Anet.
Unless…. your only reasons are…
1. I think they would be cool.
2. I want it.By the way, we have heard these before, so has Anet. and … still no mounts.
( waits for compelling reasons )
PS: We are not asking you to compel US. We are asking you to compel ANET. and no..simply saying “a lot of us want it” is Not compelling Anet.
I Know this because this has been a constant refrain for 2 years, and yet, there are still No speed boost mounts, and Only 3 cosmetics only mounts.
( sits back, and waits for compelling reasons so Anet can review them, and ….. more than likely continue their policy of not providing speed boost mounts with approval. )
PPS: Both Guild Wars and Gw2 have been known forever to not have speed boost mounts. It has become a part of its brand, and it is a part of its LORE. Suddenly deciding to go against the lore, and the brand they have evolved, is supposed to suddenly swell the player-base?
Fact… maybe In another game mounts added 2 years In may lead to a swelling of the player-base. But For Gw2? What will they do? Take out ads in websites for video games, and magazines " New Gw2….Now with 100 % more mounts!!! Oooh all that Mounty goodness…come Now and get a free chicken mount."
And this will lead to a throng of players rushing to play???
Seriously? Or are you simply tossing this against a wall hoping it sticks?
Anet put minis/bobblehead/finishers/cosmetic armor/ Total Makeover Kit/Name Change Contract/musical instrument in the gem shop because:
- It is cool
- I want it.
The reasoning almost sounds like Mounts!

but why does it unbalance anything, all you say is that it gives someone the ability to move faster but if everyone has a mount then it’s still balanced.
i never asked what a mount does, i asked why is a mount unbalanced.
and before you use the utility excuse again, everyone can use the mount without using a utility slot, no one, not even you or i has any advantage above anyone.Because not every profession gets a speed boost or motility buff, and they are in fact designed to NOT have them.
and where is your prove that they are not designed to run a bit faster, better yet, what part makes them unbalanced?
in PvE a speed buff is almost essential to get to places fast enough, in sPvP it has no place regardless of profession, i can’t judge about WvW because i don’t know how essential it is out there.the end result about mounts is simple, it’s not about if it’s needed or not, it’s about if ppl want it and there is a clear amount of players that do want them.
if you don’t want them, don’t use them but don’t demand a stop on something you don’t like, that’s just selfish.
i don’t like scepters and focuses on any profession but you don’t see me demanding Anet to remove them, they can use an improvement across the board but if i don’t like them, i just don’t use them.Clear amount of people? Wrong. The amount of people who don’t want mounts are an extremely small minority. You have no proof of this.
All the proof I need is the fact that it’s not talked about. At all. Other than by a very small amount of people here on the forum.
I’ve been playing the game since the betas and never once have I seen people say this game would be so much better if it had mounts.
Couple that with the fact that this thread has maybe 3 or 4 people posting in it that actually want mounts and there you have it. With 2 to 3 times that saying it’s not needed or wanted.
If it was such a demanded feature more people would be here requesting it.
I’ve been playing the game since the betas and I always see threads saying the game will be better with mounts.

This is one of those weird things that I’m not sure I understand why EITHER side is so adamant.
1) Why MUST we have mounts? It’s not like the maps in GW2 are massive. Even if you wanted to straight up run across an entire zone, you’re not looking at much more than a handful of minutes. I mean, is it a prestige thing? I don’t get why some players are so in love with them.
2) On the other hand… why are people so strongly AGAINST them? The waypoint method is superior in every way (the travel cost is a pittance). Mounts would be barely more than a silly vanity item. What would it really matter?
Seems like a really weird thing to be drawing battle lines over. I mean, as often as this topic comes up, we could mount every person who wants one on the dead horses that have been beaten over it.
1) People like having mounts, cause running is tedious, and mounts usually increase run speed from 50% – 200% in games…
2) People are against it because the more time ANet spends designing mounts, is less time they fix the already broken stuff with the game. Especially stuff that has been broken since release.
Speed boost is something the developers have decided needs to be in balance class to class.
Some classes have greater opportunities to increase speed..than others.
This will be completely undone by mounts that increase speed even temporarilly.
The devs want players to pick a utility that grants speed boost so that they have to swap something else out. This is how Anet wants it.
Mounts with any kind of speed boost would be unbalancing.
The ONLY way i could see mounts In this game is with 3 conditions…
1. Either they are totally cosmetic, or they take a utility slot that mimics the speed boost of a skill that class already has.
2. They can be toggled off when I log In so i need Not see them.
3. They do not make the character riding the Mount even if I don’t see the Mount ..Look weird. No " floating around in seated position with their feet off the ground."
1. Nah, Doesn’t need a utility slot.
2. I wish I can toggle out Fractal Capacitor, Scarlet blades, and every single backpiece. I wish I can toggle out disgusting looking legendaries. But they won’t. Why should they censor out mounts then?

Ahhh, just as I said in this thread
After that it escalates to “we want more functionality” “we want to battle” etc etc.
So I will say it again: If they give an inch, players are going to demand a mile. My point has been made… yet again…
The new kites gave 5% boost. That is somewhere above an inch. Where are the people using the kites?
You are wrong.
4x Necromancer, 3x Mesmer, 4x Guardian, 4x Thief, 4 Revenant
If people still want mounts, why do I never see anyone (except me) flying the new kites? I suspect ANet pay far more attention to what people are actually doing, than saying – so lobbying on the forums is pointless, if almost nobody is bothering to use those sorts of items in the game.
Because not everyone can get it.
If Mounts were sold in the gem shop, not everyone can get it.

Many skills and traits are useless. If those get buffed so that they are useful on the bar, it is the same as adding skills.

In WvW the Mesmer currently only has two uses:
1. Veilbot
2. PortalbotThat is the extent of their effectiveness in WvW.
Now if only phantasms weren’t nerfed back then into suddenly requiring LoS.
I’m glad you guys have some actual effectiveness in WvW, unlike Ranger which has 0 ability in a zerg. I have a feeling if they fixed all of the Mesmer’s bugs you guys would probably go up to the “in a good place tier” since some of the skills would be incredibly powerful without those bugs.
ummm..
Ranger has.
Waterfield
Blast finisher
Group might,swiftness,fury
AoE thats reliable
and a pet that can go with the front line to get you more tags.
…..But that’s none of my business..

There are two paths that Mace should take to be fixed:
- A defensive weapon- Which is to keep the warrior alive as long as possible.
- Anti-bunker- this is a hard counter to Guardians and other profession that stacks toughness/vitality.
Either way, it requires overhauls as current mace does neither.
4x Necromancer, 3x Mesmer, 4x Guardian, 4x Thief, 4 Revenant
It should be:
- Fire an arrow. Bleed your target if you hit them near a ally.
It will cause bleed if it is near your pet, party member, friendly npc. Guild Wars 1’s crossfire was that. GW2 could use this.
In solo play it will still be useful because you can just attack whatever your pet is attacking. Then, Agility training/signet of the hunt will be very useful as your dps rely on your pet sticking to your target. In party play, it will be even more useful as variety of option for crossfire max dps to use.

ITT: People who bought an MMORPG and made a hostile take over to make it a Co-op game in as many aspects as humanly possible.
This game was made for group work. Go play Skyrim or something if you want some solo content. Also, for the person who said the game caters towards solo players, that’s because enough people who bought this game wanting to play a single player game complained enough.
For the people who compare the LS dungeons to the Zhaitan dungeon: The amount of people doing the LS is extraordinarily larger than those looking to do the Zhaitan dungeon. The reason getting a group for the last PS dungeon is “hard” (everytime i’ve tried i get a group within 5-10minutes so idk what you’re saying) is that lack of people trying to complete it. As stated before, that is not the case here
On the topic of it locks available options and make them restricting: Making it single player makes it extremely limiting due to the lack of players available to complete actions at the same time. Meaning, things like puzzles and boss mechanics have to be severely dumbed down so that one single person can complete it. Doing this reduces any sort of replay value in the content to oblivion.
All in all, this living story is not challenging whatsoever, and as far as arenanet has proven, the solo content they create in this game requires no brains or coordination to complete compared to the group living story dungeons that they made in LS1 that did require at least SOME effort.
Now, I am not completely unreasonable. Making an alternate version of a dungeon specifically for 5 man groups and another for casual players who want a simple auto attack story seems like the best course of action. Make it an achievement to complete the 5 man dungeon and throw some alternate story content in there as well (maybe some extra lore?). The single player people can catch up on it on youtube videos if they so please.
Point is, this is an MMORPG not a casual Town-Hub RPG.
or how about you don’t play the instance content.
I enjoy the instance content.

- Waiting for events to occur in Dragon’s Reach Part 1 – This was the low point of Season 2 for me. The Iron Marches and Frostgorge events should have been instanced. Nothing is gained by turning these parts into open world zerg events, either you don’t have enough people to complete them, or there are so many people that your contribution counts for nothing (or they don’t start properly because events often get stuck).
That should be a positive, not a negative.

Minor Adept Trait:
Invigorating Bond:
-Replaces Instinctual Bond. Pet heals allies upon swap.
Reason: Instinctual Bond sucks and I couldn’t find a place for Invigorating Bond.
Adept traits:
Master’s Bond:
-Pet attribute no longer resets upon deactivation.
Reason: This trait is unviable without this change.
Speed Training
-All pet skills + F2 recharge 20% faster
Reason: It is just too redundant to have two separate traits for pets.
Commanding Voice:
-Pets gain quickness upon F2 usage.
Reason: Many F2 skill have way too long of a cast time.
Mighty Swap:
-Grant Might to all party members upon swapping.
Master Traits
Stability Training
-Pet gain stability and protection when disabled.
Reason: This will synergize well with “Protect me” shout + shared anguish. Pet loses health slower in a spike.
Grandmaster traits:
Zephyr’s speed:
-Grant Quickness boon to all party members for 2 seconds.
Reason: The purpose of this trait is to be a party support trait. It synergize very well with Mighty swap and Vigorous training which will grant quickness + Vigor + Might to all party members.
Natural Healing
-Ranger and pet healing per second is switched. However, Ranger loses regeneration if the pet dies.
Reason: To give Bunker Rangers a weakness. Invigorating bond in the minor adept trait line warrants a weakness. However, I believe that the ranger’s pet dying should be a weakness.
New GM trait:
Beast’s bond- Pet leash increases and pet hit harder. +1500 range +10% damage.
Reason: The leash and damage made pets feel like an extension of their arm. I felt like I could trust my pet to keep a player occupied while I am doing something else. The split dps made microing pets fun and viable.
In my suggestions, there are three staple traits for three kind of builds that I have in mind.
- DPS BM build
- Bunker BM build
- Swap support build
DPS BM builds- Their design is to micromanage pets. One class can do two jobs at the same time. Pressure two different people at once. Uses the Beast’s bond trait for increased leash. Master Bond is great for increasing stats. Commanding Voice + Intimidation training is great for quick snaring. Rending attacks + Speed training is good for passive pressure.
Bunker BM builds. Designed to bunker. As long as the pet is alive, the ranger will be hard to kill as like all bunker builds are designed for. They uses Natural healing to keep the Ranger alive. Compassion training is there to buffs the healing power a bit. Stability training is almost a must due to protection on pet. Synergizes well with shared anguish + Protect me shout.
Swap builds. Designed to make use of the swap mechanics to support party members. If Swap builds uses all the swap traits in the BM line, it can heal + might + vigor + quickness for all party members. It is designed for an out of the box support. Such as Heal/vigor for defensive purpose, might for offensive purpose, and quickness has multiple purposes. Quickness can stomp faster, heal up faster, dps faster. In other words, the swap build is made to be a little bit useful at all areas at the same time. Uses all the swap traits to support party members. Players can drop one of the swap traits for shout mastery so they can grant Nature voice boons quicker.
I hope you like my suggestions.
I reworked with DPS BM build in mind, but after looking over it, the Swap support build looks very interesting and unique to play.

Ranger: High single target DPS. Long range single target damage – should be the best (mesmer comes second). Sustainability through melee evasion and dodging. Sustained melee AoE.
- Weakeness: Dealing with boons on enemies – no boon rip. Lack in stun breakers with some builds but it is intentional since you can evade so much. Reliance on pet for maximum efficiency as pet is factored into your damage output. Your damage will be smaller than other classes due to the pet. Pet have issues against high end PvE encounters since they are more of a hindrance than help. AoE at long ranged but it is a trade off with having highest single target DPS at long range. Mobility – can’t escape fights as good as some other classes.
- Official design: Pretty close to the player feedbacks.

It’ll be updated according to this style, unless ANet gives us new balance philosophy update…
I dislike how Anet declares pets as a weakness. It should be an extension of a Ranger’s arm.

Other bunker builds can freely enter and leave their homepoint if they need to. They are effective anywhere in the map.
Turret engineers cannot have that kind of effectiveness. They are only effective at one specific area. It just so happens that specific area are the capture points. They can blow up the turrets, but then they will have to wait for some time to set up the turrets. By the time the turret engineer moves to another point, the battle is already over.

Mini’s shouldn’t be giving any stat bonuses. They are supposed to look cool and follow you around. I could get behind a mini-dueling arena where they can fight, but I don’t think they should have any affect on regular combat.
“LFG Berserker’s Only. Must have mini Zojja”
People do not look for minuscule stat increase like that.
I have not encountered a pug that looks for butternut curry soup or look for Ascended gear outside of fractals.

Macros are not allowed, unfortunately.
Imo using macros should be ok to use as long as you don’t use them to get a personal advantage. But afaik, they are not.I’d love to use my auto click macro to sell stuff if I have a full inventory, or if I have to use a ton of consumables.
Anything that gives AN ADVANTAGE of one player over another is not allowed. Your one click WOULD give you an advantage – hence it is not allowed.
Inventory clicking is esportz.

It should remove 1 boon like the other mines do. Maybe increase the cooldown to 5 seconds but increase mine duration to 15 seconds.
Also, mine field should remove boons from each enemy that a mine hits. Not just 1 boon in total.
Please no.
No cooldown. I like bunker down because it synergizes with bomb. Meaning, Double damage!

Please make it explode automatically when enemies are near instead of require an enemy to step on it.
After testing it, bunker down only seem to work when an enemy steps on it instead of exploding when bunker down is placed on the the enemy’s location.
It could have been a great trait but this little thing just made it unviable completely for PvE or PvP.

Mesmer is overpowered?
Maybe not, but they are definitely not weak. Mesmer do see tons of high level play.

4/6 teams include mesmers in their teams.
2 teams have a Necro.
1 team only have Ranger.
