2-Factor authentication. Use the Google Authenticator for your GW2 account. Problem solved.
I don’t use a cellphone. Plus, it is too confusing to set up.
Not solved.
Have a tablet? Same application. Don’t have a tablet? Run BlueStacks and install the authenticator there.
Confusing? It’s too confusing to install an app and either type in a number sequence or scan a QR code, then verify it back to the system? You must go through conniptions every month when your corporate password expires and you have to enter a new one…
TL;DR: Arenanet has already provided a fairly bullet-proof method to secure your account. The fact that you refuse to use it isn’t their problem.
And two password for forums and game account is a problem because…?

Funcom allow different passwords for game and forum. I have no idea why it is as it is here, but this is the wrong subforum to ask. You are better off asking in support/account subforum.
I did post there. It was moved here.
I disagree.
I had to click 1425 times. I want other people to suffer RSI.

Possibly it’s done this way so that only people with Guild Wars 2 accounts can post on the forum? I’m not sure how other games handle official forums and whether or not they use a separate password.
The system can automatically put the game and forum password the same as default. Then the player can change their forum password themselves whenever they want.
I can’t see how it is a big headache.
Still, you have not answered why you are so against this suggestion so much.

So, if I understand you correctly OP, you’re saying if you use someone else’s open to all and unsecured internet and you put sensitive information in it someone else might get your information.
Well, yah. That could happen. The answer might be to be careful when using other people’s open internet.
Which is also why, having separate passwords for forums and game account is needed.

I don’t understand why anyone is against my suggestion for a more secured account.
If you don’t want to have another password, then go ahead and keep your forum and game password the same.

Why should you be more lackadaisical about your forum account’s security than your game account’s security? If one is important to you, then why not the other?
Nothing stops you from perusing the forums without the need to log in. Again, I’m sure the Devs will consider your suggestion, although I’m not sure this is the proper sub-forum, as previously suggestions were usually directed to a different sub-forum. /shrug
The only thing I compromise in my forum account is my ability to post on the forums. I can always go to support and ask for my forum account back if the password changes without me knowing.
On my game account, I compromise all my gems, all my items, all my progress, all my characters. Years of hard work all given to hackers. ANet will not re-roll it if I get hacked twice or more.
What I need is a updated tutorial on customized playlist on youtube.
Every tutorial on there is way outdated. The tutorials over at youtube were made before GW2 even launched.

Then, save your password before going to such non-secure places? Or avoid non-secure places when accessing sites with sensitive passwords?
I don’t think they are going to change the way the forums work, but I’m sure they will consider your suggestion.
Good luck.
ANet should do this because it combat hackers and keyloggers.
They may get your forum’s password, but they will never get your game account password.

You can browse the forums without logging in, thats what I tend to do. Since you can do such things as change your password through the website, it wouldn’t be secure anyway.
Sometimes, I go to the login screen when I am browsing. So no, this doesn’t work.

What is stopping hackers from deleting characters is that they have to type the names.
It is too much work and doesn’t really provide any benefits to profits.
Oh look! Another one. Mesmer tears this time.
Keep ’em coming
Just gonna say this, posts like this only make people want rangers to get nerfed even more, and if there’s enough whining about it, it will eventually happen. Antagonizing people isn’t gonna help your cause. That being said, whining in general will solve nothing. If you genuinely think something is OP and needs to be changed, explain why and do your research. This constant whiner v. troll thing really doesn’t accomplish anything and usually ends in the class in question getting nerfed anyway.
D/D Ele got nerfed because of constant whining.
Condi Necros got nerfed because of constant whining.
Spirit Rangers got nerfed because of constant whining.
BM rangers got nerfed because of constant whining.
Thieves gets nerfed because of constant whining.
Warriors got their adrenaline nerfed because of constant whining.
Constant whining actually works.
Party Waypoint- Teleport your party to your location. 1 hour cooldown.
Guild Waypoint- Teleport an entire guild to a location.
Why have Party waypoint?
Why have Guild waypoint?
I think the Chinese client had something like a friend teleport stone.
Then again, do your research on ArchAge and maybe play it a while. You’ll see why is it such a bad idea.
My research says nothing. What does your says?
At first glance, it seems good…unless you’ve actually been in an 8v8. It’s basically Mini WvW. And that’s a bad thing.
At first glance on 5v5 hotjoin, 8v8 is so much better.
I think PvE loot is boring and this is why it should be added.
So every other week, we always get the Gemstore and Black Lion tickets weapons update. So how about some free weapons that doesn’t cost gems at all put into the game? I feel that the PvE world loot is boring.
Regular ordinary weapon update is a update every other week where ANet puts in new weapons into the PvE world. Just like the gemstore/BLT weapons.
Here is what ANet can do:
Pro:
Cons
I swear players must have truly poor long term memory or something. Doesn’t anyone realize the OP has trolled various champ trains and events before? Oy! Stop posting as you are only feeding him.
I agree. OP is a griefer, which is why Coiled Watch and other fail to profit needs to be shut down. Make it hard for griefers like OP to grief events.
Just grab a few warriors and have them banner the NPC’s while spec’d with the banner cool down trait. The NPC’s should last long enough between rotations that the event won’t fail. Now all that need the event to succeed can get their living story. The farmers can just let it fail after the escort succeeds.
Can’t banner NPC’s anymore.
It only takes one person to succeed the event and wreck their farming. I did it yesterday after taking a few days off from the game. Logged in, went to Frostgorge and completed the event for them. I actually got two achievements in doing so. My new favorite way to get AP is to hunt down and derail farming exploit spots like Coil.
So you are openly admitting that you enjoy griefing players you deem as a nuisance to your play style just because? And this is fun how?
Do you have a happy life outside this game on the internet? Seems you do not and I’m sorry for that sir.
Anyways….
I though griefing in any form wasn’t allowed in this game…but I can see it is since anet is taking a hands off approach to this. It seems they are just going to let this whole thing devolve into some kind of war of angry nerds and not do anything to stop it since they can’t make both sides happy.
This is why ANet needs to close down Fail to profit events including Coil Watch. Make it hard for griefers to grief farmers.
imho the rewards are fine,
they should fix the exploitable system that is ruining each match.
nerfing the win reward and buffing the loss reward is not the answer,
people would still abuse the system to be on the winning team anyway if they’re outnumbered.
This requires destroying Spectator mode. Which Anet will never support.

Exclusivity is overrated.
And Wing of the Sunless
Mounts and Dueling
I vote leave it and don’t bring it back.
I want that skin SO BAD but I’m glad it’s so rare and unattainable. Much like the festivals in GW1…you were there and had a chance to get it or you weren’t. I wasn’t.
Don’t cheapen it Anet. Release a variant maybe but I’d hate to see yet another reward cheapened by a festival and gifted to the masses in hind-sight a year or two later.
Why the hell not?!
Exclusivity is serious business, especially when all it required was you being in a specific place at a specific time.
Exclusivity is overrated. I wouldn’t care if all my valuable items reduce to 15 copper if it means that my collections expands even further and the entire playerbase isn’t wearing glitter here and there.
Hotjoin is a testing area for new builds. Hotjoin =‘s one team outnumbers the other (the majority of the time). It doesn’t show any skill and doesn’t help you learn how to pvp. It shouldn’t reward anything what so ever imo.
Still hasn’t been answered, why not? How does it being rewarded help you at all, or help the people playing?
Rewarding hotjoin gets people into Pvp. That’s why they do it.
It would encourage/reward bad behavior (spectating/team stacking). People do this enough as is for the meager rewards they get now. That wouldn’t get more people into pvp, it would push more away.
If this is true, then Hotjoin should reward winning and losing equally.
When suggestions pop up for things like “open world PvP” or “remove all waypoints, then add mounts” . . . no, I’m still going to respond with that statement. Because this game is clearly not the one they’re looking for.
Maybe GW2 is not the game for you.
Rapid Fire is just a typical
high*Low* risk high reward skill. One reflect on someone even standing nearby, and that ranger is dead.
Fixed.
The reflect is the high risk and high reward because it has a higher cooldown. One misjudgement means that rapid fire can hit you for 3-4 times safely before the next reflect is up depending on the class.
A ranger with a brain can simply just cancel rapid fire even if it was perfectly timed.
Whatever classes you play, Prysin and myself have more experience on ranger than you do. You make it sound like it is so hard to counter, and I’m sure it is if you can’t play the game. I can’t begin to count how many LB ranger bads I have killed since the patch.
I don’t believe you have more experience than me. I played Longbow Ranger ever since the inception of zerker Longbow rangers which is started when Survival of the fittest was created, I played Zerker Longbow way longer more during that period and more than any of my characters ever since the inception but rarely play it after the buff. I know how they work way. I learnt what adapting means when Longbow Rangers weren’t considered good.
RF incredibly easy to dodge, but these rangers you are complaining about are usually full glass and can be dealt with very easily.
Okay, you dodged Rapid fire, you spent around 2 dodges for that. Now dodge PBS. Surely at this point you must have no dodges left. Then dodge or block. Hunter shot then dodge Muddy Terrain then dodge Entangle. Then try to hit me while I have counter block up and then watch me swoop away. While that, try and dodge my allies that is on your back and eating your hp. At that point, all your mobility/invulnerability/dodges are all spent. Also, beware, my Rapid fire is up and ready to burst your hp down to zero while I am about 800-1500 range away.
Lets change the scenario. In this scenario, it is a chaotic team fight now. There is a thief trying to gank me. Since I have 1500 range, I can choose what position advantage I want to have. I can alway position myself where thief cannot shadow step to me directly. Now, the thief needs to actually run to me. I don’t need to rapid fire the thief, but I can still choose to. Using rapid fire will kill the target what my party wants dead. That target won’t see it coming because of all the pixels everywhere until it is too late when the red numbers says 6k damage. Now my teammates had kill the target and gave me the advantage. All I have to do is run towards my teammates. If the thief is stupid enough to follow me, my teammates will destroy the thief.
Lets say I do engage the thief, I just need to use auto attack to size him up. Make him waste at least one dodge and then PBS + Rapid fire. If he dodges twice, he dodges the PBS, but he will take the full hit of the rapid fire. His HP should be 35-50%. I can just switch to GS and finish the rest of his HP off. If that doesn’t work, I’ll just use Counter block, throw some immoblization bombs, swoop away and then appear somewhere and snipe.
You rarely faced this situation and as you say, You met many bad LB rangers.
I actually can’t believe warriors are complaining about ranger. I mean to be fair warriors are usually the easiest class to kill for me, but they have to most access to reflects and gap closers and CC to deal with the ranger I don’t understand how you could ever have an issue if it wasn’t a L2P one.
You should learn how to read my post. If it is too complicated, you could try my signature. But, I guess you are partly right since I do play a warrior. I rather experienced all class to understand balance than to ignore other profession and whine that my class is underpowered.
People need to adapt and stop crying. This ranger LB crap is a one shot pony type build and is so easy to counter if you don’t panic like a scrub and know how to play.
Standard response for a inexperienced player. As I explained. The LB crap is not a one shot pony and have multiple layers of escaping, pursuit, and sniping. If experienced enough, it can be good for 1v1 too.
Why the kitten am I off topic? Lets go to the point.
Hundred blades do deserve a cast reduction time. Why? Because it is more risky than LB whether or not if it is a team fight or a Solo duel.
What is a sub-class?
Sub-class is a progression system chosen at the character creation. It will not add anything new. It will only take from the existing traits and skills. Example, a Necromancer’s Subclass can be:
When leveling up,* the player gets a trait and skill as a reward* depending on the sub-class chosen. Example, Let say that a player chosen Minion Master as a sub-class. Let say that the subclass follows this Build
I believe that this would not overwhelm new players.
Why have this? I believe this is a positive for Veterans and Newbies alike.
For veterans, That empty space in the trait line will not be annoying. There won’t be a need to fill up that empty space in the trait line. Then, it can be treated as an endgame activity. Trait hunting can be considered something to do when level 80.
For newbies, it will teach them about traits better than having nothing. To learn nothing about them and expect to find them in the unknown world at level 36 is more overwhelming than just handing it out.
As for Devs, it will bring out the creativity out of them. They just need to create some builds and add them in. I do understand that there is work involved. But what addition doesn’t require work?
The players are not happy with the trait system, but I believe that this progression system will. Most of the base needed are already there(Leveling up rewards, trait hunting, etc). Sub-classes progression system can work.
I’ve been around for a while and still don’t really get it.
This. I might get it by accident but I’m never looking around saying “oh hey Bob laid down a water field so I’m going to use my finisher”. Nope. Never ever said that. I’ve had ZERO training on how or when to use these, in 2000 hrs of gameplay. Thanks ANet!! But hey, I can spend 42g and 300 sp on traits. Love you guys. Srsly.
You better start learning.
Many many times in PvP, if I ever see a water field and my hp is low, I will use a leap or blast finisher for a heal.
In WvW, many guild leaders will ask for water field or fire fields. Then the guild members will use blast finishers for area heal and might stacking.
I’ve beaten them fairly consistently as a trapper ranger or as a BM ranger. The range isn’t a huge problem if you know how to play.
No one short of the glassiest of glass cannons can be one shot killed with a Rapid Fire, and even then the ranger would have to blow an elite skill and two utilities to maximize the burst. It’s very much a one trick pony, and after that one shot is done the ranger has only one extra utility for defense.
So to answer your question, they probably won’t end up nerfing a build that isn’t even viable for high end play right now.
There is a BM ranger?
Because with a password, you and your friends can easily win matches faster and gain rank points faster.
Something like mounts?
rapid fire is only 1500 range, if you are 1500 range away. 100b is 100b no matter where you are.
Wrong. Rapid Fire hit from 0-1500.
Rapid Fire can hit in 100 range.
Rapid Fire can hit in 200 range.
Rapid Fire can hit in 300 range.
Rapid Fire can hit in 400 range.
Rapid Fire can hit in 500 range.
Rapid Fire can hit in 600 range.
Rapid Fire can hit in 700 range.
Rapid Fire can hit in 800 range.
Rapid Fire can hit in 900 range.
Rapid Fire can hit in 100 range.
Rapid Fire can hit in 1100 range.
Rapid Fire can hit in 1200 range.
Rapid Fire can hit in 1300 range.
Rapid Fire can hit in 1400 range.
Rapid Fire can hit in 1500 range.
Hundred Blades can hit in 130 range.
Hundred Blades cannot hit in 200 range.
Hundred Blades cannot hit in 300 range.
Hundred Blades cannot hit in 400 range.
Hundred Blades cannot hit in 500 range.
Hundred Blades cannot hit in 600 range.
Hundred Blades cannot hit in 700 range.
Hundred Blades cannot hit in 800 range.
Hundred Blades cannot hit in 900 range. etc
Rapid Fire damage is not affected by range. That is Longbow shot handicap.
Also, those who argue GS is hard to get close with…. get a grip. Mobile Strikes + GS 3 and GS 5- Bam, instantly in the rangers face. Swap to axe shield, shield bash into evis, BAM instantly DEAD RANGER.
This only happens if the Ranger is a new player or he is distracted by something else.
If I was in that shoes, I would use Point blank shot -> Rapid Fire/Hunter shot depending on my situation -> Switch to GS -> swoop away and increase that distance that the warrior desperately tried to close. If he somehow dodge Huntershot/PBS I can always use Counter Block to knock him back again and then swoop away.
IE: you require UP TO 15 SECONDS to set up a “RF NUKE”, because you gotta MOVE, physically, in a build with limited mobility, to a place far away.
It is a rotation that takes 6 seconds to set up and execute from start to end…. Thats how much sustain the ranger got. 6 seconds, maybe 12 if signet of stone were used. Or 18 if we add Protect Me ontop of that again. Still, that is 18 seconds of “existence” at the price of 64 + 60 seconds cooldown.
Wrong. All it takes is pressing #2. Maybe #4 + #2 so that most shots can hit in. But, that is hardly 15 seconds. It barely scratch 4 seconds.
That RF nuke is enough to take down an enemy to half hp and I still have enough range to decide if I really want to go into the kill with my GS or escape with it. If I decide I want to take down the enemy cannot escape my 1500 Range. It is impossible even if they have a swiftness buff up.
If I want to escape, the enemy has no hope of catching up.
Limited mobility? You are right that you have no experience with Ranger. Sure you can look at swoop and say Ranger has no mobilitiez. But Ranger has a ton of escapability and pursuit skills.
Cripple/Immobility/Chill/Stuns/Fear/Pull/Knockbacks should not be left out of the equation.
Balanced? Yes.
Before you all jump the gun and scream bias – I play all profession. Warrior and Ranger are both professions that I have equal time in.
Balanced? No.
(edited by runeblade.7514)
Instead of exhaustion, what if we looked at it from a different angle. Alot of times when dealing with a problem I look at things in reverse order to come up with a solution. I do not know how much this would be possible, as I know it has taken a long time to implement colors for Commander tags due to constraints.
However, what if siege was able to be cancelled for a certain amount of time after placement. Within the first five seconds or something. This would unfortunately cancel any supply that had been put into it making that as a lost amount but at the same time if it was tied to a commander tag, it would give commanders more control.
Perhaps commanders could get a build (f-yellow) button and a destroy (X value-red) button that pops up when they stand over/near seige.
Pro’s-Commander have more control over siege placement to stop a troll or, even to cancel the throwing of a mistaken ram on SM’s wall…
Con’s-Like above there are trolls with commander tags that could tag up just to cancel however that is an obvious action that people will see, the popping of a tag right next to you.
This would help alleviate the problem.
A siege troll can stalk players and cancel their builds before it is finished.
The exhaustion idea has merit, however, a limit of three seems a bit small considering you may want to quickly build a number of defensive siege when you see a blob storming your keep. I’d wager the griefers won’t be dissuaded no matter what cap is put in place. They’d just wait it out.
One small tweak, perhaps, would be to not allow flame rams to be created inside a tower, camp or inner keep (SM & Garrison). At least force the griefers to use something that has a modicum of value.
I think a system that allows siege to be destroyed by the player base would be a better way to go. Some sort of approval where some number of players concur that a piece of siege should be destroyed in any given area. It would be a lot harder to get a group of griefers together to remove siege than it is for them to create it.
Allow a squad to salvage siege for a percentage of supplies used to build it? Share those supplies among the squad members that aren’t full?
A commander with 10+ people in his/her squad should be able to destroy siege. The number can change depending on factors like Outmanned Buff.
A siege troll can just get 10+ players from their home server and destroy every siege weapon there is.
i just went 1v35 without armor and weapons and still won! according to ladderboard, you do not even have one single win in TQ, and a 10/6 score in sq. i suggest you go back to pve and try soloing some skelks.
I merely stared at my enemy and won by 500-0. You need to go back to tutorial island and re-learn. According to ladderboard, you can’t even play.
even worse: hotjoin didn’t disappear. the cancer of pvp
I feel the word cancer is being severely overused lately. What makes hotjoin cancer, exactly? Why is a place for people to test builds and get experience with the game before jumping right into ranked play a BAD thing? Why is a place where you can literally jump in, have some fun, and then leave as you see fit a negative experience that is hurting pvp?
you can’t test builds in hotjoin, because hotjoin uses different builds and useless players to test it on. forgot my traits once, went to test “new build” in hotjoin. won 1v5. wahu.
plus: the mode is not the problem. it’s the players. by using it to farm ranks, which also should be removed, btw. and zerging like stupid mofos all the time, they will not learn to pvp, ergo it is a flawed system to begin with and obviously does not fit the player base at all.
using an unranked SQ instead of hotjoin with rank progression and introducing a small/medium battle arena with no capture points would actually make more sense, since in SQ, you cannot teamswitch and in the battle arena, you can zerg all you want.
I just used a build that is 0/0/0/0/0 in a 1v5 in a team que. Everyone rage quitted but me and I still won.
Just bc ranks arnt visible in spectate mode anymore doesn’t mean ppl will magically stop stacking. Anyone can easily see which players are better than others and will continue to gravitate towards them.
That is absolutely correct.
Which makes no sense to remove ranks in the first place.
at least it will take a round or two before people start to recognize “better players” and start stacking.
removing ranks from spectator mode is a good change.
Did you want to delay team switching or do you want to remove team switching entirely?
VeeWee is the self-proclaimed NA 80 engi.
I killed him many times.
It is a very fun weapon now. I enjoy the damage buff. However, just one skill really needs work on.
Napalm.
I have two suggestions that would make Napalm viable.
1. Make Napalm another Combustion shot v2.
This will give Engineer reliable burn. Engineers will stand their ground because it is a damage boost whenever the engineer and the enemies are in it.
2 Give Napalm a 100% projectile combo.
This suggestion is here so that Napalm can be unique and very team oriented. The idea here is that the engineer place a fire field in front of a Longbow ranger or P/P thieves and watch it stack burns. I believe all “Wall”-types AoE should have this as they are very weak.
Otherwise, Engineers can simply use Napalm -> switch weapons -> Auto attack to stack burns -> Switch back to flamethrower and enjoy that sweet damage boost.
