This is wrong. If ANet wanted to sell Airship/terrace passes, they should be usable in HOTM.

It is reminiscent to the GW1’s skillbooks.

Here is how it works:

  • Adept Traits- Any mob can drop it.
  • Master Traits- Any Champion mob can drop it.
  • Grandmaster Traits- Any Legendary boss can drop it.

If the character already unlocked a certain trait book, then that character will not get that trait book ever again.

Pro:

  • More choices. Plus it’ll make loot tables more interesting.
  • Any additions to the trait system can’t be bad.

Cons:

  • It won’t revert to the old system.

Spirit Ranger vs Turret Engineer

It’s true tho. Turrets have insane amount of defense, it should be reduced at least by 60%! There is no reason for them to be so tanky

What build are you running? I can literally use one utility skill and destroy all turrets in under 4 seconds. I consider 1 utility skill to neutralizing all of the utility skills of my opponent to be an extremely good trade.

Please tell me that your trying to make a joke by using the term “tanky” and “turrets” in the same sentence.

Does it surprise you that grenade kit, bomb kit, ice bow, glyph of storms, ect. ect. would have difficulty AoEing down turrets on a point? If so, it appears to me the trouble is this thread is probably general game knowledge.

It is common sense to place turrets away from each other.

SRG = Small roaming group.

My proposal is that towers no longer give any points to the score, While sentries do give out points. This way, multiple small roaming groups will help out the world a lot more than zergs.

Pro:

  • Encourages more small roaming groups.
  • It will not affect players playing the game with other players. Some suggestions are thrown out because ANet doesn’t want players to be mad with other players for playing with them. Such as a debuff to zergs.
  • Less PvDoor. It’s boring.
  • If the zerg is gone, the players can still do something to help the world.
  • Outnumbered servers can still do something to help win the game, now that there is less PvDoor.
  • Discourage zerging.

Cons:

  • Towers won’t give out any points.
  • Less PvDoor. Less arrow carts farming the zerg. Less bags.

Towers will still be useful, even if it doesn’t give out any points. It can be used for a safe haven for roamers. It can be used for Trebuchet spots. It can be used for the Karma train.

  • Guard- No longer has a cooldown or cast time, but no longer has grants stealth or protection. Pet no longer teleports back to the player until recalled back with f3 or f4. Due to no cooldown, Rune of the Trooper no longers remove conditions for this skill.

Then it would by definition stop being a shout. The ranger shouts as they stand barely fit that category and were probably classified that why to justify the inclusion of the Rune of the Trooper (read old name Soldier, as in really only intended for Warrior and Guardian).

Currently there is a trait to make the ranger ‘shouts’ grant a bit of group utility. To be honest I think they should either make the shout actual shouts ie. sick’em remaining a offensive example (similar to have ‘Fear Me’ is offensive in nature) and provide the others with party wide effects that also happen to always effect the pet.

Or (preferable) scrap the entire nature of them as ‘Shout’ and work with them as ‘Pet’ skills to add additional control/effect to the pet alone.

I like the idea that the “shout” name should be changed to “Pet” skills. It fits to my design better.

I hate most of this. A revamp to shouts should include more team utility. These ideas would ruin certain builds in an attempt to make beast master useful while ignoring the core problems with pets themselves.

The only build I could think of that would be ruined is Nature Voice/Guard. But it isn’t even meta.

I disagree that shout should be team utility. Warrior and Guardian already fill this role. No need for Rangers to be a clone.

I would add “Grenth’s Balance.”

Gain Lifeforce if your HP% is higher than your Lifeforce%.

Reduce all BASE Healing (Skill/Trait) by 15%-20%, Increase Healing Power scaling with all Healing by 15%-20%

I feel that this is the wrong way to do this. Instead, it should just be deleted and replaced with Boon Power.

For self-applied boons, nothing changes. However, when applying boons to other players, your boons get stronger with more Boon power.

  • Aegis- Reduces the next attack by x%, with a certain Boon power threshold it block the next attack.
  • Fury- Higher crit chance with more boon power. 15-25% crit chance.
  • Might- Does more damage with more Boon power.
  • Protection- Blocks more damage with more boon power.
  • Regeneration- More healing.
  • Retaliation- More damage.
  • Stability- No longer immune to CC. Instead, it reduces CC time. However, within a certain Boon Power threshold, Stability will cause immunity to CC.
  • Swiftness- More speed.
  • Vigor- More endurance regen.

Remember: Boon Power affects your boon applied to other players. A selfish build will not need Boon Power to maximize its own abilities.

  • Search and Rescue- Change the cooldown back to 85 seconds. If it is too overpowered, then the ranger cannot res while search and rescue is up.
  • Protect me- Grants Capture-Point Contribution to the pet for 6 seconds.
  • Nature’s Voice- Deleted. Put some other trait in it.

Before the Ranger nerfs, I love the pets because it was an extension of my own arms. I want that feeling again. But since ANet thinks it would be overpowered, I suggest putting that feeling on the lesser used shouts. So that a BM build can be formed. This BM build will be centric around commanding pets and putting trust into it.

It will also put in some interesting plays such as:

  • Using Sic’em to split up. The ranger chases another foe, the pet chase another player.
  • Using Guard to place a pet on a point. When you realize that there is another player trying to cap it, use Protect me so that the pet can stop the player from ninja capping it. Bear pets will be useful for their sturdiness.
  • Search and Rescue never needed a nerf, It didn’t instantly res like Banner and it also uses a valuable elite slot. With it, the ranger can continue fighting while leaving the ressing task to the pet.

I really really want a Beastmaster build that plays like a beastmaster.

ranger: your standard condition ranger (sb + a/d) doesn’t have enough condition variety to really be effective in my opinion, at least to warrant having one over a condition engineer or necro.

What game are you playing where sb + a/d condi ranger is a bad build?

sb + a/d relies entirely on bleeds for the majority of their damage while lacking the ability to bury them beneath other conditions to counter even the lightest condition cleanses. the only two conditions that condi ranger can effectively apply at a high rate are bleed and poison, while barely being able to supplement them with chill/cripple/weakness. aside from this the only thing that condition ranger brings to the table is the aoe immobilize from entangle. so not only do other condition builds like terrormancer and rabid engie bring more utility to the table, they also are just stronger condition professions in general.

as someone who mains d/p thief I fight against condition builds all the time and it’s no mystery heavy condition pressure can counter us badly, yet i breathe a sigh of relief when engaging in a 1v1 against a condi ranger because of how easy it is to handle them, even on 26006.

Interesting.

I never had much trouble with vs. most profession. My condi ranger can definitely defeat good D/P thieves while I struggle very hard with any other builds I run with.

Condi – Necros/engi’s do condi spam better, and mostly aoe. Most ranger condi spam is single target

lolno.

Rangers are leagues better than Necro and engi combined.

They have the power to instantly put 20+ stacks of bleed.

Necros and Engis cannot.

Short answer is yes, items that people generally consider better looking are more expensive in the trading post, regardless of stats.

Unless it is zerker stats or has any sigils that increases their damage like force or bloodlust.

If it has those, that item is worth 10g.

Condi Ranger

Another weakness of the condi survival meta build is that it’s really slow to get around the map with, since it has no access swiftness, no perma 25% signet or runes, and carries no weapons with movement abilities, such as sword and greatsword.

Not to be confused with pursuit and escapability. Condi Rangers are great at keeping enemies still. I rarely have problems escaping enemies either.

Crippling shot, Winter bite, Crippling Talon, Entangle, Spider immobilize, Wolf cripple/knockdown/fear are all great for keeping enemies in your reach.

Ranger’s natural tankiness and condi removal keep him alive for very long. Plus, Quick shot, Lightning reflex and dagger 4 lets me evade attacks a lot. Signet of stone lets me survive very long. Sharpening Stone/entangle/Lightning reflex/Empathetic bond removes condi like crazy.

But yeah, I won’t be able to do many last minute save with this build.

If you are using this build,

that build is a good start but there are strong versions imo.
personally would also take keen edge over sharpened edges. i also prefer healing spring.

That build is more like a good end.

S/T and A/D is more defensive and have very little pressure. I never felt the need to go into there except that one time when I had no idea on how to play Shortbow and A/D.

I have a proposal for your money making tactics.

For the next Gem store weapon set, instead of putting tickets behind the RNG box(commonly known as Black Lion Chest), put a direct purchase of a ticket specifically for those weapon set, then the player who bought those tickets can go to the Black Lion Vendor to pick it up. After a while, the store will no longer sell those ticket. However, players that couldn’t buy the weapons when it is out, can still get it from trading post.

Use this for your metrics. See how much players are willing to spend their money instead of farming keys.

Why?

  • This is what I want instead of RNG boxes. I spend real money on armor that I have 100% chance of getting. I want to spend money on weapons that I have 100% chance of getting too.
  • This still keeps exclusivity and rarity as time goes on.

Should Traps do no damage?

Instead of direct damage, Traps only do condi damage.

Why? Because of Rune of the Trapper. It will synergize really well with rune of the trapper this way instead of being counter-intuitive.

Condi Ranger

Hey guys;

Im trying a condi ranger this days, but im getting some hard time against some professions. Im not taking me as parameter cuz im newbie at this build, but what you guys think? Should i learn how to master it? is it competitive for Groups SPVP?

Or if i wanna play condi should i play necro or engineer? What you guys think are the strong and the weaknesses of a good condi ranger?

Condi ranger is strong. Way stronger than necro and engi. I can’t think of any clear weakness that will destroy the condi ranger other than the enemy is far superior than the condi player/being outnumbered/Unlimited condi removal.

If you are using this build,

Biggest Strength: 25 stacks of bleed in an instant.

Weakness: Can’t spam nades like engi, Can’t return condi to enemies like necro, can’t corrupt boons.

Should you learn to master it? Up to you.

If you want to know how to master it, it is simple, Treat Condi ranger as a melee weapon set with ranged auto-attacks. Don’t kite enemies. Charge straight into them.

I start with my shortbow.

Crossfire(to harass until the right time) → Use Cripple shot/Concussion shot/Entangle to stop enemies from kiting you → Get up on the enemy’s face and use Poison volley(Optional with Sharpening Stone) → Switch weapon so that Geomancy stacks bleed → Use Splitblade(Use Sharpening stone before using splitblade if you haven’t already.)

25 stacks of bleed. Very low cooldown.

I am annoyed with gems myself. I was going to convert 155 gold to get a Royal Terrace pass. I think about it as I realize PVP now has a bank and a trading post. I decide that I want to get Royal Terrace access and the gold to gem price goes up to 164 gold in 20 minutes.

I bought Royal Terrace Pass because I wanted a crafting area for my pvp characters.

It doesn’t work in HOTM.

ascended trinkets are absolutely kittenedly absurd to obtain so yes jeweling needs to happen

Laurels arent hard to get, and you only need to spend 25 for an amulet. Quit being lazy. You only need 10 pristine fractal relics for rings, and most players are lucky enough to drop at least 1 by then. Quit being lazy. Accessories you can get by running guild missions, which takes at most 3 weeks and 1 day. Quit. Being. Lazy. It takes ONE MONTH. To accumulate ascended trinkets. That aint absurd.

And how about if you have 8 lvl 80s? 10 80s? 13 80s? 15 80s? 20 80s? Your assumptions and conclusions are both silly. Telling people to ‘quit being lazy’ when you’re ignorant of what their constraints/intentions are is pretty silly as well. Also note that laurels are spent for things other than just jewelry, ie. Ascended crafting.

I got 27 characters. Simply put them in the bank, Ascended Gear are account bound.

With HOTM having a bank, I can easily switch ascended gear for WvW easily.

I just wanted to let you know I’m going to try to gather this feedback and write up a report about what is being said on the new daily system. There are a lot of different opinions being stated, and in some cases they may be directly opposite one another. However, I’ll do my best to amass all the thoughts you’ve shared and pass them along to design leads to give them a solid point of reference on this subject.

Please don’t miss out my complaints about PvP profession dailies!

Keep these in Practice mode only. It is hurting Unranked and Ranked arenas.

If ANet wants to get players out of their “Comfort zone” then they can simply make the win only applicable to Hotjoin only. It is there for practice, and new players can practice on how to play these professions.

They can change them with “Win in the Legacy of Foefire Battleground” for example, it’s less restrictive for beginners who dont have all professions and don’t cause any problems

This is equally bad. Imagine getting Daily Skyhammer/Courtyard/Spirit Watch win.

Change it so that daily profession win only applies to Hotjoin. Keep it away from unranked and ranked.

This way, new players going out of their comfort zone can learn their class in practice arenas.

PvP dailies are toxic

Today I have a full Warriors and mesmers teammates that don’t know how to play their class. Therefore it is always a blowout. If the other team has full warriors and mesmers, my team will win most of the time. The only times that I do get a close match when there are mixed teams.

Remove the dailies profession wins. It is toxic and ruining PvP. If ANet wants players to play outside their comfort zone, then make the win applicable only to Hotjoin/practice. Keep these dailies away from Unranked and Ranked.

Today’s PvE dailies:

  • Daily Ascalon Vista viewer
  • Daily Krytan Lumberer
  • Daily Silverwaste event completer.

Instead of splitting it to three zones, how about one zone theme instead? It feels like the dailies are hauling us zones through zones making us waste silvers.

Change it to this:

  • Daily Ascalon Vista Viewer
  • Daily Ascalon Lumberer
  • Daily Ascalon Event completer.

With this, I would feel more eased into the zone. I might even stay to complete the zone.

PSA: Courtyard Rule Changes

Just put 5 canons at spawn to avoid camping (with limited range)

Which can also lead to spawn hugging.

Which happens right now. Most of my Courtyard matches wins are because of it. We wait for the enemy to come in and destroy them.

Anyways Spawn camping has never been a problem. The lack of knowing how to avoid spawn camping is. To avoid spawn camping, use another entrance.

Put the same thread in the pve forum, they’ll spread negativity like a virus.
