“When we wrote the original combat blog post, a lot of people assumed we didn’t want the trinity. It wasn’t an anti-trinity, it was more of a case of “this is how we want to do this type of combat and we want these roles and we want them to be flexible.” not “Hey, we don’t want people supporting!” and so, we want to design creatures that make you want to use Immobilize or design creatures that make you want to use Portal if we can. We have so many tools in our combat system that we want players to think about when they use them.” – Jon Peters
Do you guys want a trinity? Do you want the LFG be full of people say “GLF Support!” Since I’m not seeing a discussion, I might as well make it.

If it was an error or something they intended on changing, a statement about such would have been made at some point. Thus, I have to assume it’s either intended or a case of “eh, we’re not gonna change it anyway”.

It is bad at 1v1 against zerk builds because the damage is weak.
I’d bring a lb ranger if the other team has shotbow, problem solved.
Shoutbow can deal with zerker quite easily, especially something like thieves.
It is one of the easiest classes to build up 25 stack of might with easy rotation , and can just spam that ridiculously large f1 on LB and blast it with combusion shot and Warhorn 5. Also it’s one of the easiest classes to play good while you have little experience of the build itself. It has so many aoe cleanses to himself and to the group.Shoutbow damage is not low because both weapon sets they’re using are all hybrid weapons that uses both condition and power. Because they can so easily get to 25 stacks of might even w/o any might supported rune, the damage is by no means low.
Only thing shoutbow is weak at is against outnumbered fight. (2 or more v 1).
Shoutbow doesn’t has stability/ evade/ invulnerable or block, so against any outnumbered match up, they’d quickly fall by chain CC and focus fire.3 stacks of might(Combustion shot) + 3 stacks of might(Warhorn 5) = 25 stacks of might?
Haha, clearly someone never played a Warrior before.
Coming from the guy who said this is a troll thread XDSigil of Battle on one weapon + quick hand.
Precast FGJ when cd is off. Combine with traits it should gives around 6 stacks.
.
Engage battle, switch weapon between 1-h sword/warhorn and LB to gain easy adrenaline. You gain easy access to sigil of battle thanks to quick hand. That’s 2 stacks for 26 seconds. If you do your weapon swap properly you should get 4~6 stacks from the sigil easilyAdrenaline full, use f1 then combustion shot 3 stacks 26 seconds. Switch weapon, use warhorn to blast fire field again, 6 stacks. By the time you switch back to LB your Adrenaline should be full again, F1 then combusion shot, another 3 stacks.
If your rotation is correct, you should always get 9~12 stacks from this. That’s 6+6+12 = 20~24 stacks of mights constantly.
If you use Signet of Rage instead of Battle Standard, you should get another 5 stacks. But it’s still more useful to bring Battle Standard in high end pvp, but if you’re solo queing, signet of rage can still be chosen.
So, in order to get 25 stacks of might you lose:
- Valuable condi removal from F1 Longbow
- Valuable condi removal from Warhorn
- Valuable condi removal and heal from FGJ
- Big damage from Longbow 3
- and you might gain a position disadvantage.
Sounds like a fair trade.

I like the new trait system.
It gave me meaningful enhancements between level 30-80. Before the trait system, I simply power leveled because leveling was boring.
Be honest Blade. Leveling is still boring once you get your first 80.
Look at my signature. Count how many characters I have.
Most of them are created after the new trait system has been implemented.
And you did not find the repetition tedious?
I don’t find the repetition tedious.
If I really need that specific trait or I have empty slots, I go to the profession trainer. I only need a minimum of 7 traits. Every other traits is cosmetic.
Traits are a distraction and a side quest away from the repetitive heart quests.
So what you are saying is that you DO NOT have every trait unlocked on all 28 of your characters? Because each profession has 65 traits not just 7 and “anything over 7 unlocked is just cosmetic.” If you don’t have all 65 traits unlocked then you can’t experiment and find new and better builds for yourself.
Where did I say that?

I bought only a few because I needed something to fill up the empty slots. Every other traits are cosmetic and I hunted them all down because I needed a side quest that isn’t focused on leveling up. I spent around 10 skill point average for each characters.
So what you are saying is that you DO NOT have every trait unlocked on all 28 of your characters?
I’m not reading anything that says, “I don’t have every trait unlocked on all 28 characters.”
But well technically that’s true. I only have one character that isn’t level 80 and don’t have all the traits because she isn’t level 80.

Leveling from 1-80 is boring without trait quest.
Leveling is the game. That’s the whole point of GW2 – the ‘endgame’ and the ‘before endgame’ are the same thing. Finding leveling boring is the same as finding the whole game boring.
Which is fine. Not every game is for every person. There are lots of games that focus strictly on progression and ‘rewards’ of bigger numbers. If you find playing GW2 so boring you need system reworks, perhaps another game would suit you better?

It takes forever to kill a turret engi as a mesmer and we have to do it way off the pt . So sure I can kill a turret engi after like 1000 yrs, in the mean time you just earned 100+ pts for your team and I have done jack all for mine. And if you call help at all I have to run off …
This is exactly why people have a problem with engineers, at least turret ones.
And how is this any different than a bunk warrior or guardian? Just because people can or can’t kill them in 1v1 doesn’t mean the class needs a buff or nerf.
People want to nerf them for being an easy class.
People want them buffed because Tournaments are very hard to win with them; you can easily outplay and counter Turret Engis. They’re not OP and they don’t need a buff. Pretty sure original poster posted this thread out of satire.
Bunks don’t need to run around and do nothing.
and “balanced” for tournament play where everyone is a god and knows what theyre doing for the .01% of the population, doesnt affect the other 99% of players. Most often times in terms of balance majority rules.
people complain because of how easy it is to be good with a turret eng and afk. Turret eng players even stated this.
If AFK means moving away from the points as far as possible so that enemy players can get a free cap, then I guess every class can do that.
If you mean engi can bunk, then those eng players never really played turret engi and made stuff up.

The community will never grow as long as players are forced to play conquest.
So yeah, split the queues
When the pvp community gets big enough, then I would agree. But it isn’t, so no.
Impliments like these are likely to make the community smaller. The only outcome I can see from this implementation is frustration. Infact, if there were a more organized que system, it might even bring outsiders in. In regards to the whole “scatter the player base” concept, I’ll have to retort by saying that there will be people who are interested in all game modes. I’m sure those people would rather wait a few minutes more to get in the game type they enjoy, than play a game type that frustrates them.

runeblade:
Ok I’ll concede that not joining guild groups will increase your chances of not getting kicked. However I don’t want to scare off or preclude people from learning and using the LFG, which is why it’s not included. Some guild groups are good peoples, others not so much. But you are going to find good people, and kittens in every aspect of the game regardless of what you are doing.
Use the LFG, join with others doing dungeons. It’s a fun and rewarding experience. You may just meet some really cool people. But if you are starting out, just make sure you’ve done your homework, and don’t expect anyone to carry you.
Information is still information.
If you don’t want to scare off people, then include it. Leaving and finding another dungeon party takes about 10 seconds. Plus the newbies can waste time doing stuff while waiting. Getting kicked at the end of the run is the quickest way to not care about dungeons anymore. Its better off that the newbie leave early so he doesn’t waste his time because of toxic guild members.
I don’t know about you, but I rather waste 10 seconds finding another dungeon party than waste 40 minutes doing a dungeon path only to be kicked at the end.

You forgot one more thing. Don’t join groups that has 3 or more guild members that is not in your guild.
You can be the one carrying the group and you would still be kicked. In pugs, I have to try very hard to get myself kicked. In guild groups, if you make one little joke, they’ll kick you without a second thought. Also, they may kick you to make room for their guildmates.
This is a guide to “not getting kicked.” Not learn how to play guide.
While that may be true, I didn’t include it because sometimes running with another guild doesn’t result in a kick. In my experience I’ve never kicked anyone, or been kicked by a guild group. It also depends on the LFG. Even guild groups are more apt to kick if the new comer doesn’t know what they are doing. But I suppose it depends on the guild.
Also, when joining a guild group where you fear you may be kicked, try to get their names and guild names ASAP. Get your screen shot ready as soon as you join. You can report them if they start to be verbally abusive, but you can track down their guild leader. I’ve had to go to a guild leader several times because members of certain guilds were acting like kittens. I told the guild leader, and he took action. (i.e. lowered rank, removed guild benefits, and even kick out of guild.) Guild leaders in general tend to be more protective of the guild, especially of larger guilds, and of the guild reputation. It looks bad on the guild leaders and the guild when members are acting like jerks.
Just because you didn’t kick anyone or didn’t get kicked doesn’t mean it never happens.
Also, when joining a guild group where you fear you may be kicked, try to get their names and guild names ASAP.
Doesn’t stop me from getting kicked and get me denied from rewards.
I don’t see any reason why “Don’t join guild groups that is not your own” is not up there on the guide.

… I don’t know what religious you have (hopefully none!) but most churches are pretty big on that spirit, consecration and meditation stuff.
I never saw a biker meditating, or a divorce lawyer (he’d be more likely to sacrifice something to Satan). Its pretty much a religious thing…
You know what I never saw? I never saw a priest blast white/blue flame at people. I never saw a priest teleport around. I never saw a priest reflect arrows with a blue wall. I never saw a priest summon weapon out of thin air and attack people.
One final note, I never saw Guardians being tied to any kind of gods or religion.
With the turmoil in Elona and the spread of the Order of Whispers into other lands, more Paragon teaching showed elsewhere in Tyria. These teachings melded with other traditions, and over time, the guardians and their abilities can be found throughout the world and among all the races. They are not tied to a particular race, philosophy, or group of gods but rather to a larger concept of proactive defense, of taking the fight to a foe and protecting those you fight alongside while appealing equally to humanity’s defensive nature and the charr’s desire to rule the battlefield.2

Let me explaine: not most healer class, but most roleplay skills (praying for Gods etc).P.S. Yes, my english is really bad
Since you are looking for roleplaying and not healer. Here are the professions:
- Warrior
- Elementalist
- Ranger
- Thief
- Mesmer
- Necromancer
- Guardians
- Engineer
All it requires is being devoted to the gods.
4x Necromancer, 3x Mesmer, 4x Guardian, 4x Thief, 4 Revenant
Would be either Guardian or Elementalist.
If you are roleplaying a human, then I would go for ele and tie each element to a god, like Balthazar = Fire, Dwayna = Water, Melandru = Earth and Lissa = Electricity (close enough for the last one)
For other races guardian would fit better imo, if you know D&D , then guardians is just like Clerics. What about poor Grenth and Kormir? =(
Belzebu is wrong and ignorant to the lore.
Fire = Balthazar
Water = Grenth
Earth = Melandru
Air = Dwayna

Do’s and Don’ts
Some other tips while running dungeons that will help you keep from getting kicked.Watch your fears.
Its extremely frustrating to have that group of enemies that you’ve carefully lured into the corner to die suddenly flee from the group. Try to avoid using fears in those situations.Don’t go “Leeroy Jenkins” into a situation.
Most party wipes are generally caused by someone not following the plan, not stacking as agreed upon, and just running headlong into the frey. Doing this will likely cause you to be kicked before you have a chance to rez.Bring your A game.
Don’t expect the rest of the party to carry you. Know what is expected of you and do it as best as you can.Unless you ask ahead of time, and everyone agrees, don’t watch the cut scenes. Those wanting to do the dungeon fast have already seen them and just want to get on with it. Don’t make the party wait for you because you want to watch the cool cinematic. (Everyone should at least once. They are pretty cool)
In the dungeon game, DPS (Damage Per Second) is king. Do what you can to bring the most DPS you can get out of your profession. Those experienced in dungeons want a quick run. Bringing a regen guardian in cleric gear isn’t going to do that. Those builds and gear types do have a place, but not in an experienced speed run group. It will only hurt the efforts of the party.
Most importantly. Have fun. It is going to be a learning experience, and you’ll meet some really cool people along the way. Just remember when starting out, ASK QUESTIONS about things you don’t know. People don’t mind a noob. People mind a noob that won’t ask questions or try to learn.
Good luck and have fun!!

To make healing power more useful, I propose a solution.
Nerf ressing, buff healing power gear. Don’t hit the reply button yet.
The first resser on a downed player will see no change. The second resser, however, will see change. The second resser will receive a nerf of 50% ressing through heals. The third resser will get a 50% more nerf after the second, and the fourth recieve a 50% more nerf.
So first resser have 100% effectiveness.
So second resser have 50% effectiveness.
So third resser have 25% effectiveness.
So fourth resser have 12.5% effectiveness.
In order to get better res effectiveness, you need healing power. This would be buffed more.
This won’t make zerker groups useless because they are centered around killing the boss before anyone gets down. But it lets healing power be useful as a stat to less skilled pugs. Toughness or vit may not be useful, but in order to res someone up under heavy pressure, toughness and/or vitality is needed.

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: runeblade.7514
Hey guys,
I’ve got a trip here to ArenaNet for a Press Event on the upcoming Heart of Thorns Expansion for Guild Wars 2. You may remember my Guild Wars 2 Angry Review on Youtube about the game, I really loved it at release (dont know how its evolved since then)Its since been something like 2+ years and I haven’t returned to the game (Decided I was going to wait for the Expansion) and here it finally is! However because ive been out of the loop so long I sorta missed out on most of the happenings and current issues with the game.
If you guys want to let me know anything that needs addressing or you have some good Heart of Thorns Expansion questions you’d like to get answered (and think they will answer early) leave them here!
There’s no one more familiar and knowledgeable about the game right now then you guys still here on the forums!
I hope to ask about or capture footage of Guild Halls, Guild Wars, and The New WvW Stuff if possible, but who knows what they have planned and seeing as how that’s very social content I may not be able to experience/capture it at a small event. But ill certainly ask.
AngryJoe, I am a huge fan of your videos. I love how you gave a very in depth review on the games while making it very entertaining. Since, you’re here, I want to request from you to please make more reviews. I miss them very much.
What I want to know when you’re going to the press conference:
- How does specialization for the professions work?
- Can I use specialization in PvP?
- If I can use Specialization in PvP, do I have to buy the expansion pack in order to play the specialization builds?
4x Necromancer, 3x Mesmer, 4x Guardian, 4x Thief, 4 Revenant
We have…
one handed maces, two handed maces(hammers)
one handed swords, two handed swords(greatsword)
one handed axes…. and then we trail off into the other weapons.Hammer are not “two handed maces”, but ignoring that, what can you do with a two-handed axe that you cannot with a greatsword?
Which is why they should just add two-handed axe skin in a GS weapon set.
Less work.

This is how I feel when people shoot down my suggestions.
4x Necromancer, 3x Mesmer, 4x Guardian, 4x Thief, 4 Revenant
This allows the Tanking role to be more effective and useful to the group.
Forgive me if I’m not all that excited for a return to the trinity system.
Taunt won’t bring back the trinity. Zerker team is king.
I just want my nomad warrior to feel like a tank.
4x Necromancer, 3x Mesmer, 4x Guardian, 4x Thief, 4 Revenant
I think you people are really overestimating this. Creatures can also use it against players, all it is, is a new CC. And thus would be ignored by stability and defiance.
“you people” !?!
The people wanting tanks.
Except, taunt will help me make a tank character.
The reason why tank doesn’t work is not because Toughness/Vit sucks, its because there isn’t a reliable way to get aggro.
Of course, it won’t destroy the zerker meta, but at least my tank character can actually tank.
Except there is nothing mentioned about agro at all, in fact what it mentioned goes against that. The target goes back to doing anything it wants after the duration ends (which will likely only be a few seconds, if not less), and adds no threat.
I know you hate WoW and everything that’s MMO related, but how many times I have to tell you,
That, taunts in other MMOs also work like that? Taunts in that game, WoW, which you hate so much, only last 1-2 seconds. Are you telling me that’s not Aggro control either now because of the short duration of taunts in that game as well?
Logic must not be your best asset.
Did you forget that I also proved that it doesn’t, because of the fact taunts in other MMOs add threat? Also, how would I hate MMOs if I play one.
Remember, forum guidelines are to stay civil.
Threat is an artificial list calculated by the NPC for priority of targeting. Taunts in GW2, hate to break it to you, mr MMO hater, but taunts in Gw2 does in fact make the taunter the primary target on the threat list while taunt is in effect. Just like in every other MMO, which I am sure you hate. Taunts don’t last forever. But of course you wouldn’t know this because, well you hate MMOs.
But glad I could help you enjoy MMOs more.
In other MMORPGs: Taunt skill ADD Threat in an artificial way. They allow characters that deal little damage to generate threat equal (or above) to DPS characters. This means that when the Taunt duration is over, the “Tank” still has more Threat because Threat does not magically disappear when the Taunt ends.
In GW2: While the Taunt is in effect the mob will attack a specific target. There IS NOTHING that will hold the mob on that Target once the Taunt is over. So once Taunt duration is over, the mob will leave the “tank” and attack someone else instead.
Do you understand the difference or I have to make a video?
Well all MMOs don’t handle Taunts the same, but in WoW which I was speaking of before,
The Taunt was a temporary boost to the top of the Aggro list,, meaning if you didn’t do enough threat after the effect ended, a DPS or Healer could easily get defeated. I played enough Vanilla WoW to know that a Taunt alone could not hold threat to tank long term, because it was a temporary effect. Tanks needed more than just taunt to hold threat. Big burst heals, and big burst DPS could easily put somebody else on top of Aggro charts once Taunt faded. They would need an Aggro break or be defeated unless somebody else had a taunt.Nice try.
Meaning just a “Taunt” skill isn’t enough to make a tank. So the GW2 taunt will bring you to the top of the threat list for 1 second then the mob will run away.
My point still stands. How is this Taunt going to help with threat? It won’t.
Nice try.
The same way a Taunt does in other MMOs. By providing a tool for Control of foes.
Super nice try
Let’s see.
If you are a full tanky character in other MMORPGs, you use a Taunt to bring yourself on top of the threat list. In GW2, you force the mob to attack their target (not the caster btw), which means if you are the last one on the threat list you will remain on the bottom list when the the Taunt ends.. In other MMORPGs you go to the top of the list (you said it YOURSELF)
Still very nice try. If you still can’t see the difference maybe I will make a video.
Read:
Taunt will be used to both reposition foes and change your foes’ targets.
In other words, you tried too hard over semantics.

New legends are unlocked via skill points this was from the polygon interview today.
That sucks.
I want it to be a scavenger hunt like Ranger pets. I go around and commune with the legends in the world.

I really want to see Mass-taunt chain into stomp. Enemies charge straight into you and then you press stomp so that they get launched away.
I don’t care how long the cooldown has to be increased. I just want this so that stomp can be useful and it will be a very great support skill.
