To both of you, it does not say specifically in the blogpost that other specialization will get upkeep skills, but it also never states it is a Revenant only mechanic.
In other words, nowhere on the blog post states that the specialization will get upkeep skills.

Where are you getting the upkeep being available to the other classes specialization from? I didn’t see it being mentioned anywhere in the blog post at all…
Nowhere. This is a suggestion.

What Legends do you want to equip on your Revenant?
I’ll start:

I don’t like how the Revenant did not get a skill showcase that shows 5 of their skills. Every other profession got when they were announced.
Please fix this.

Actually it wouldn’t be a nightmare to program, at least for my thought on how to do it. A lot of if statements is the basics of that it would seem.
I thought of this the other day, i want to use cultural armor but am stuck with exotics lol.
I think that “its a nightmare to program” is just a cop out. I really don’t think anyone can have a say about the programming unless they know ANet’s code from inside out.

I sit here eating a delicious salad (no, not a Sylvari minion), reminiscing about the early days of the game and how fun and rewarding it was.
This was a time before the nerfing (drops, chests, farming) and the institution of the redesigned elements of the game we didn’t ask for: NPE, Dailies and Traits revamps.
I remember how truly fun it felt to start new alts, in every profession, and explore everything! Weapons, builds, the world and just feel so rewarded with loot.
That very first headstart day, the chest from the Shadow Behemoth event dropped so many shinies into my inventory that it nearly filled completely.
Black Lion Chest keys dropped by the ton! The chests themselves dropped one or more keys. It was thrilling to open chests of any kind, anywhere in the world.
I really miss those days, when the game just felt really great to play because it was truly fun and didn’t seem like a grind.
Playing the same content over and over, and getting the same lackluster drops ad nauseum, is a grind, and not fun.
Speculating, and asking for information, over and over, ad nauseum on the forums, is a grind, and not fun.
Games are supposed to be fun. This game used to be fun. The only thing that keeps my interest hanging by a thin thread these days, is that I really like my characters and WvW.
I’ve been taking a break, only logging in to retrieve the daily jingle box. That’s it. I gotta say, the games I’ve been playing outside of this one are actually fun.
I’ve missed that thrill of an actual great loot drop, whether it be gold or items. Playing other games has brought that feeling back, and it really feels good.
So good in fact, that when I do happen to think about playing beyond just logging into this game for the daily jingle box, that overwhelming ‘not fun’ feeling strikes and I just can’t do it anymore. The other games are just more fun right now, and Anet has the ‘we can’t talk about it’ communication policy, and the NPE, Traits 2 and Dailies 3 revamps to thank for that.
From what I’m reading, NPE or trait revamp isn’t the reason why you aren’t having fun. You aren’t having fun because you aren’t getting large amount of new content.
I like NPE and trait revamp.

I will be sad if ANet is reverting the trait system.
I have a lot of characters and the trait system is pretty much like a side quest or a distraction that keeps me entertained while I’m leveling them up. I feel rewarded when I gain a trait because it empowers me.
Without the trait system, all I will be doing is looking forward to is just get to the next level. It could use some tweaks and additions.
- I would love to get a mail that tells me to kill this boss, which rewards me a trait.

It’s not an easy problem to fix.
It’s quite easy.
- Ignore the dumb suggestions on forcing players to waypoint.
- Put NPC around that can fully res like the Scarlet hologram world boss/add a waypoint 5 seconds away from the boss.
Easy, done.
4x Necromancer, 3x Mesmer, 4x Guardian, 4x Thief, 4 Revenant
If you’re dead? You’re a waste of our time, your time, and overall DPS by continuing to sit there because the game does not differentiate between your lifeless corpse and someone who was downed.
Lets get this straight.
If the zerg refuses to res me from full dead state, that’s fine. My time is wasted when I have to run straight from the wp because it is boring and unfun. I can’t afk because I might run into a wall or a rock. I didn’t buy this game to be bored.
On the other hand, My time is not wasted when I don’t wp. I can surf on the internet, play Minesweeper, argue over pointless internet debates, etc. I don’t need to move, I can just wait while players res me.
It is selfish to force me into this boring action of walking from so far away. Making me do what you want because it gives you ‘fun’/‘time’ or ‘whatever it is you want.’
For everyone to be happy, it needs one of the things:
- A waypoint 5 seconds away from the world boss.
- ANet implementing NPC that resses me from full dead state like the Scarlet hologram world boss.
- Commanders is happy to encourage the zerg to res full dead state players so that their ‘event doesn’t fail.’
Until then, I refuse to wp because it’s boring.
4x Necromancer, 3x Mesmer, 4x Guardian, 4x Thief, 4 Revenant
I refuse to walk literally 60 seconds from the wp to the boss because the zerg doesn’t feel like ressing me. Another alternative if ANet add a wp 5 seconds away from the boss. Then I would wp.
Not sure I get this.
You would rather lie there and do nothing than take care of yourself ? You will actually choose to do nothing at all if other people dont give up doing what they want in order to take care of your character for you ?
I rather ANet put a WP 5 seconds away from the boss so that no one is inconvenienced at all.
In a literal sense, 60 seconds is a pretty long walk especially when you have to stare at the computer so that you won’t hit the obstacles. I rather avoid that.
Not going to lie, that sounds like selfishness diluted with alot of lazy.
Plenty of people in this thread pointed out how ressing a dead person was detrimental but the main things were:
- Takes way longer to res the dead than a downed player.
- Takes away from DPS in addition to the dead DPS which means the fight will last longer, meaning higher chance of failure.
- Very little excuse due to inconsequential WP charge and distance from event.
And another thing I want to point out is that the way this game is designed, player characters are designed to be self-sufficient with the capacity to provide some form of support. But the support rarely synergizes enough with the other parts of combat to make any added difference leaving more DPS as one of the more efficient methods. The point is if you die it is all on you.
It isn’t about elitist’s gold/sec like you assumed. More people are more concerned with the time and effort they’ve put into big events.
Here is the last point I am going to say to you: Nothing wastes time and effort in this game like a bunch of corpses on the ground.
The reason why is this:
1.) When one player refuses to waypoint, the only ones attempting to res them are good Samaritans and people who believe that they won’t get downed during the attempt. But things like ressing and healing can draw aggro and make it more likely that a ranged attack will target you. I believe it takes ~25 seconds for a single player to res a dead player in combat. With max number (I believe 5) all in combat, 5-10 seconds.
With downed players it takes, ~5 seconds for one player to res and it is nearly instantaneous with 3. Another thing is that a downed person can also add to the ressing meaning that a max of 6 players are ressing at once. That is why downed takes priority over dead.
2.) If the ressers are targeted by a ranged attack, a boss will quickly down them unless they manage to free themselves and avoid it. Otherwise, worst case scenario is that there are now 5 downed and one still dead. 5 players are now providing severely reduced DPS until they get ressed. Otherwise, worst case scenerio is there are now 6 corpses all taking up an area that could be used to drop support items.
3.) With a lower number of targets, damage and aggro is not as thinly spread as it was and is more concentrated on those who are still alive which reduces survivability for the players and lower the chance of it succeeding.
4.) If players continue to die and not waypoint, morale begins to fall aswell. Seeing a high number of downed symbols on the map can make people feel uncomfortable but seeing alot of dead player markers on the map is a cause for concern especially if the number keeps growing. Once morale drops enough people start leaving.
5.) If a noticeable amount of players start leaving, the rest will follow seeing as it is a failing event. Unless the few players present manage to pull it off, the event will fail and rewards will be reduced for everyone. All that time and effort for only 50% of the event’s XP for everyone involved.
This is all worst-case scenario, yet it happens so often. A group can completely avoid this scenario, however, if they waypointed once they died (or just not die at all) and ran back. The 2 silver and 30 seconds is nothing compared to the duration of the event x the # of players participating.
…And if I wp, I got to walk a literal 60 seconds of a boring walk and I am not allowed to afk because I might hit a wall or a small rock.
If I don’t wp, I will eventually get ressed by good Samaritans. I can afk, go on the internet while everyone is dpsing, doing stuff, or ressing me. At least when I afk, I can do something entertaining. If events fail while I’m on the ground, then fine, at least I did something entertaining on my time.

You’re why other players die at events such as Teq and THW. No one in this thread cares about shoddy farm events in places like weeniefail (I will never refer to the human starting area by it’s proper name). Most of us are talking about events where excessive numbers of dead people refusing to waypoint is actually detrimental to the event’s odds of success.
Good, I’m counting on it. If they refuse to take 5 seconds to res me from downed state, then they can die.
- Tequatl: takes 60 seconds WITHOUT swiftness and gap closers or jump pads to get back to the fight. 30 seconds or so if they were used. Too far away you say? Guess you wont get a res.
- Amber Wurm Head: 30 seconds without any movement assists. Half that with. Hard to see how that’s too far away.
- Cobalt Wurm Head: Basically the same as Amber. Still not too far away.
- Crimson Wurm Head: Bit longer than either of the others, but STILL not too far away.
- Breach: You die, waypoint. We dont have time to pick you up. EOD.
- Vinewrath: Sure, this one can be seen as “too far,” but even if on win/fail against the champions, if you die in the first 60 seconds, you arent being picked back up. Run your behind back from the waypoint, and you’ll be able to assist one of the other two lanes in their defense. Die outside the champ fights? I’d probably waypoint even then because the only way you’re getting picked up is if there’s enough people in your lane to take care of the defense and have some to spare to help rez people. If there isnt enough in the lane for that, you’re going to be sitting dead for quite a while. The only reason it’d be alright to stay dead and wait for a rez at vinewrath is if you died with less than 30 seconds to go on the champion fight. If it’s the final champ, you either get dumped outside your lane on a fail, stay there on a succeed, or everyone’s dead in the first place because you failed and had no more carriers.
In the context of Teq, THW, and Silverwastes, the phrase “waypoint is too far” is an excuse for the lazy.

(Probably gonna get an infraction for this but it’ll be worth it)
In case you forgot to read, we’re talking about defeated state not downed state. Commanders always tell people to res Downed players but not Defeated players. However, if you’re the sort of player that expects others to res you from defeated then I’ll make sure you’re on my list so I can tell people to look out for you in case you die and make sure you stay defeated, because when I’m commanding and I see people like yourself, there are only 2 words for it: Dead weight.
This is why I don’t wp.
People like you are incredibly rude to not res and then blame the victim. If my corpse causes people to fail the run, then good. I hope that whenever you are leading the zerg and you demand the zerg to not res me, your raids would fail every time.

With the recent announcement that Stronghold is going to be crammed into Unranked and Ranked queue, I thought maybe they should take it a step further… behold, the new spvp to do list:
1. Remove Compete, Play and Practice buttons from the Spvp UI. If the New Player experience has taught us anything, it’s that we’re all idiots and should have everything dumbed down to houseplant level difficulty. Instead, just one button called: Something.
By pressing the Something button you’re randomly selected to either a Ranked match (hopefully in progress), an Unranked match (likely stacked with a full team on the other side) or Hot Join where you’ll be yelled at for trying to do anything because, hey man, we’re just trying to finish our daily in here… Occasionally, the Something button should take you into a private server and make you invincible and give you the ANET tag… but just occasionally.
2. In fact, because the theme is to keep players guessing as to whether or not they’ll be fighting over points, focused solely on killing their opponents or doing all that Stronghold stuff, I feel like you need to use the new Map Selection UI on the Enter PvP Lobby button. Instead of just taking you to the Heart of the Mists, it should randomly take you either to Hotm or WvW or a randomn jumping puzzle or something. God knows I’m just excited to be here.
3. Add more stuff to Unranked Queue: Imagine Unranked Queue is your closet and every competitive game mode you’ve ever released is an article of clothing lying on your floor, and you’ve been asked to clean your room. What do you do? Stuff everything in the closet. I want it ALL in unranked queue: Snowball Arena, Southsun Survival, Dragon Ball Arena, Winter Wonderland Jumping Puzzle, That one game where you throw barrels and stuff, etc. When I go into the spvp menu, my desire for choice is completely gone. Get creative boys!
4. Randomize Traits and Classes: Seriously, if I don’t care what game mode I’m playing, why should I care what class and build I’m playing. Surprise me! I don’t even want to see the Character selection screen just take me straight to my series of Wheel of Fortune buttons so I can get playing something I want to play (But don’t know what it is yet).
Thanks for reading! Looking forward to something, I don’t know what because I have no desire for anything specific, but I know I’m excited about something randomly happening in the future!

if a leader, or group of people are so worried about shaving an extra minute off the time it takes to complete a dungeon and stress over making everyone use what they are using…they have serious issues.
like cuddy said, many of us work 8-10-16 hours a day, have a family, a budget, bills etc. we don’t give a rats kitten about your “meta” i have one meta character, and ya know what…i don’t enjoy playing it very often.
me and a couple of my friends run together using builds/gear we want..its actually wayyyy easier when not every member of the group has to play the content as if they are solo.
If you’re worried about meta, then go find a group that doesn’t care about meta.

If arena net continued, copied Guild Wars, here would result be times X 2 for Guild Wars 2
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guild_Wars
http://www.thetoptens.com/mmorpg-games/guild-wars-1622.asp
“Guild wars is a free mmorpg and it is fun, competitive and has brilliant graphics.
Buy this game!”“Best game ever! Can’t belive how fun I practily died for real ha”
“Guildwars is the only MMO out there not trying to constanlty dip their fingers in to your walltet/bank account. They uphold the values of true gamers, you buy and you play, not you buy and you pay more and more to play”.
“Best pvp ever, Guild vs Guild and Hero Ascent was so awesome it kept people playing this game for years, even now GvG is still played.”
I research; Guild Wars was not perfect game but worked with player to make game challenge-fun and worked with player to make game better. Why not keep same principle?, why not keep same vision? why not keep same goal? why not keep same focus? why not keep same mission? why not improve all of it?
(Example; if a car company want to copy other car company car, would it make sense to improve the copy? so why chose the path of not copying the other company car and make itself worse than the copy?)
Guild Wars 2 did not copy other game; it is own creation. So why no other game even new game copy Guild Wars 2? There is reason why no other mmo game copying Guild Wars 2?
Because NC Soft West is driven only by profits.
Why do you think there is always an update for the BLTP but real updates for bugs/content take two to three ipatches apart?
Because bugs are harder to stamp without breaking other parts of the game while Gemstore items don’t really create all that much bugs and is needed for a source of revenue.

You have to interupt the enemy if you want to deny him getting supply. So there is no point in building turrets there (since pure dmg wont interupt anyone), or it’s at least not as effective as you may think it is.
I personally think turret engi would be really bad at “smuggeling” due to his static build. Turret engis are in fact not mobile at all.
And why would you leave some banners there? What’s the point? They’re not even dealing any dmg, same goes for spirits (if you don’t use them).
You will probably see a lot of shoutbow warriors running supply due to the fact they’ve got a lot of sustain, mobility and high 1v1 potential. In addition their warbanner comes to handy if your lord is about to die.
I think OP is talking about Mobile Turrets
Which is vastly different than regular turret engineer. The difference is Mobile turrets uses turrets more actively than turret engi. Mobile turret’s strength is in the creation and destruction of turrets for reflects and knockbacks rather than the passive damage.

I like how people try to use failed MMO as example of why raid is bad. I can play this game too. Look at games like WoW, FFXIV and Tera, all are very successful because of raids.
I would like to use Teq as a example why raid is bad.
Teq raid is basically 100 people stacking over each other to dps the boss down. Dungeon is no better.
10 man dungeon will end up the same way. It doesn’t matter how skilled the AI designer will be. At the end when everyone learns the run, it will always be stack, stack, stack.

As for the rest of your posts, you need to take into account that these weapons on different classes result in an entire new skillset for that weapon (an engineer using hammer won’t play the same as a warrior using hammer) so with 9 specializations we get 45 new skills in total.
It belongs in a different thread then.
My suggestion isn’t about specialization. It is about adding weapons that weren’t in the game in a realistic way.
4x Necromancer, 3x Mesmer, 4x Guardian, 4x Thief, 4 Revenant
I disagree.
Turrets and turret engineers are already weak and easy to destroy. Lately, people aren’t afraid to fight turret engineers anymore. No need to nerf them more.
4x Necromancer, 3x Mesmer, 4x Guardian, 4x Thief, 4 Revenant
Also, AI can be great for a game. Ai builds are among the most unique, and not just “the best burst build with affective clutch defenses”. Look at AI builds in other games like a Engineers in TF2 and so on. They have a unique way to play and diversify the battle field. They typically fall under the “area denial” category. It’s a perfectly valid gameplay style to have pets and focus on control to allow them to be effective and many see the appeal. Because you can’t doesn’t mean everyone else has to suffer.
That’s the problem with AI in GW2. Players become dependable on the AI to play, thus having a harder time to expand on individual skill. There are simply too many AI builds/variant in this game. Guardian/Necromancer/Engineers/Ranger/Mesmer, that’s like 5/8 classes, and 4/5 of those can be viable builds. This doesn’t promote new player to expand beyond the horizons, it is actually making them lazier knowing those builds can obtain easy victory.
Look at DotA2 and how they handle summons. All summons are player controlled, they’re only as useful as the player. That’s the proper way to move away from dependency on AI to fight for you. This can difficult to be transferred over to GW2 but not impossible with a revamp on the AI coding. Ranger’s pet could default to passive until F1 is pressed and would retreat once Ranger is certain distance away. Engi’s Turrets should also follow this aspect to only attack if Engi is in close proximity. Slight changes like this would encourage interaction than click and watch.
Not really.
When I first play sPvP, I died a lot because people kept killing me. It made me very frustrated. And then I learned the game through the MM build. After a while of learning sPvP, I learned what each builds does and then played those builds because playing one single build/profession is boring.

I take the whole “they can’t add new things because it qould take too long to ballance” with a bitter taste. sure, it is work, but it was way more work in gw 1, and they managed that quite well with some minor exceptions.
so, seeing as they simply don’t want to spend more time balancing things, adding skins that create an illusion of being something else, like the christmas slingshot are the way to go.
The dreamthistle hammer is one of my favourite skins, because the edge is so thin that it might be an axe.So more skins like that would be great. Some whip like skins for daggers, greataxes for hammers or greatswords, and more interesting stuff i cant think of atm. would be great.
if the dreamthistle weapons wouldn’t be at 800g , i’d have bought one ages ago
I see whips being a sword skin rather than daggers because of animation.
My sword wielding ranger is gonna look funny as he aggressively whips the enemy.

I want a Cultural tier 0 armor/weapon.
In Cultural tier 0, it gets sold in white weapon/armor vendors.

Did you miss the part where each specialization will open up a weapon for a class that they couldn’t use before?
Did you miss the part where they won’t add new weapons? They won’t add spears, great axes, fist, crossbow, etc.
You probably misinterpreted it. Specialization won’t let me use spears on land, it lets me use a staff for a ranger.
And you will have new skills based on the staff. I know fully well what they plan. I would prefer they actually add those weapons in instead of the stopgap you are suggesting. I would prefer greataxes in game instead of a hammer with the greataxe skin.
Which is what I don’t care about. I want to use spear on land.
This ‘stopgap’ is more realistic than what you are waiting for. If ANet wanted to add more weapons, they would have done so in this expansion.

- Seals the fate that there will never be any new weapons. I don’t see any future for new weapons anyways.
I just don´t agree with this last sentence, but I get what you mean… we have a slingshot skin for the shortbow right?
Slingshot is a shortbow skin, not a new weapon.

Can we get some new weapons reskinned in the current weapon sets?
Example,
- Greataxe- a skin for a Greatsword.
- Crossbows- A skin for a rifle.
- Fist- Dagger’s skin
- Spear/Trident- Staff(In case warriors get melee staff)
Advantage:
- I don’t need to wait another 2 years for an expansion that might have new weapons.
- Completely easier. No need to make 500 new skins for it.
- No balancing involved.
- Slingshot shows that new weapon skins can work.
- Some weapons shows that changing the sounds can work.
- More customization
- Is enough for forgiveness for lack of new weapons.
Disadvantages:
- No new skills.
- Seals the fate that there will never be any new weapons. I don’t see any future for new weapons anyways.

Oh, please, no. You do realize, that the mobs use control effects as well? Do you really want to extend fear at first phase of Claw of Jormag, for example, seeing as it’s already way too long and used way too often?
It would not extend to mobs. Players only.

GW2 is not really balanced around being able to permacontrol mobs. That’s why they added the defiance buff to champions and bosses. You’ll have to mitigate the damage in other ways.
GW2 is not designed to have single target stun anyways.

Control does not need a buff. Control is one of the reasons zerker, the highest damaging, least defensive gear, works. To what purpose would buffing control serve? (Side note: not antizerker. I run zerker myself, but it doesn’t need to be any easier than it already is.)
It would shut down dangerous enemies. Instead of mindlessly zerk, you can be smart about it and choose to shut down an individual enemy. In a zerk stack it will be impossible to single out and stun an enemy.
AoE stun is the reason why control works. In the OP, I chose not to buff that. I specifically state that single target

Increase the duration of every single target stun/knockdown/daze/fear for PvE.
example:
- Signet of judgement
- Skull crack
- Doom
- Sleight of hand
- Shield Bash
- Hilt Bash
- Concussion shot
- Magic bullet
- etc.
If it is 30+ seconds. Increase the stun time to 10 seconds duration. If it is between 20-30 seconds, then increase it to 6-7 seconds duration. If it is lower than 20 seconds, then add 1-2 second duration. If it is auto-attack, nothing changes. On bosses, stuns/daze/fear/knockdown does not get increased duration.
*The reason: Control role needs a buff. *
I feel that 6-10 seconds is balanced because it is single target + only work on single mobs. It can lead to skillful plays because then each player can be assigned to shut down a specific mob before it does anything to wipe out your party.
AoE stun/daze/fear/knockdown do not need increased duration because it is basically a 2-3 second damage immunity and is already useful in parties already.

PLEASE LOWER THE DROP RATES OF GREEN AND BLUE!
Instead, add more valuable gray items and more salvage bundles.
- Let me save inventory space. I need it for switching gears.
- Make crafted gear be more valuable.
- Make it more easy to salvage and sell everything.
- Let blue and green gear as drops be something to be happy about.
