I think that the problem is in ANet’s end. I used my credit card, so I don’t need to open chrome and I am having just as much problem as you do.

I just ran into this issue myself. I tried to purchase gems twice but it failed. Then I came here and found this thread. I went to submit a ticket and tried one more time so that I could copy the exact text from the error message. The purchase went through.

The only difference was that I tried not checking the “agreement” check box when I hit confirm. After it errored out and made me check the box, then I checked it and hit confirm. It might have been a fluke, it might have been a weird work around. You might try it.

I unchecked the agreement box, and then it would not let me hit confirm. After checking it again, I still get an error message.

Cleansing Ire should remove 1 condition if the burst misses.

If the burst hit, it will remove however many condition that was in the adrenaline bar.

Why? It will make more weapon set more viable/playable rather than x/longbow. I want to see other weapon combo other than longbow/anything.

ANet will never add this because it goes against their philosophy that players should never be disgusted to see other players helping them.

I think the better idea is to have an anti-stacking AoE.

New item: Big Throwable Bomb
-Small AoE, 150-240 radius
-3k damage
-Unblockable
-3 second cast time
- Requires 5-10 supplies to throw. It could be used to defend. However, it is a big waste of supplies that could be used for siege weapons.

In fear of the AoE, zergs will spread out a bit more.

with melandru/holebrek, food, dogged march, healing sig, disproportionate base stats, eviscerate, CI, you really have to have your head in a hole not to create a warrior without drawbacks.

This trait is the heavily random and the weaker version of cleansing ire. Cleansing ire allows you to choose when you remove conditions. This one requires more work for the same effect.

I am fine with Mesmer having torment on their autoattack, since it is fair.

I am not fine with clones getting torment on their auto attack. Clones should not be damaging, that is the phantasm’s job. Clones should stay as distractions or shatter fodder.

i still don’t see the issue here….

The issue is that people stack at the beginning of matches on the higher ranked team. They do this by going spectator mode and checking player’s ranks so if they see at the start it’s a 1v1 between a r10 v r80 they will clearly be tempted to join the r80 creating a 2v1. What happens can be that people don’t want to join the r10 and would prefer to hope for a space on the other side. This leads to issues such as people just spectating and not joining in and leaving the game at uneven numbers or matches of low ranks vs high ranks. I see this on a daily basis when I play.

Before rank were added into spectator mode, I would just wait till I see the prime good players and then autobalance my way to that side.

Yeah, I have to admit, I can’t comprehend the “No it’s not in the game because its not in the game” argument. It seems so obviously flawed. I guess some people are just too basic to waste time with.

The strongest arguments against Mounts are:

  • Outside of the Wurms in Nightfall, there is no history of mounts in the Guild Wars universe.
  • With the current waypoint system and relatively small size of maps, there is no present need for mounts.
  • Mounts w/buffs will likely create even further balance issues.
  • Mounts w/o buffs, meaning cosmetic only, may create lag issues and flood player’s vision with even more than we already have to deal with.

These are all valid reasons against Mounts. Does that mean they will never be implemented? No. However those that want mounts MUST justify them against these reasons. If you can not – then you likely have little hope of getting ArenaNet to add them. I could very well be wrong in that because ArenaNet could just see it as another way to make money. * shrugs *

But if you only wish to downsize or insult the Anti-mount people’s reasoning, I’m afraid you’re not doing yourselves or your side of the debate any good.

You can do better.

  • Some genius created a orb that carries mounts, which the mount will transport people around. Terrible lore? Waypoint is equally terrible.
  • 25% speedboost is a good balance. It frees up traits and utility for mobility that is only for out of combat. If players get into combat, the mount goes back into the inventory. Players will lose the mount’s 25% speedboost. If players equip a 25% speedboost trait, then he can use it in combat and out of combat. Only works in PvE.
  • If mounts do not grant speedboost, then being implemented in the gem store is enough. It limits those who can buy it or not.

Bam, the ‘strongest’ arguments are toppled.

We do not need compelling reasons to not add them. We want the status-quo. Therefore we need not a single solitary argument for the game to continue as it is.

Reasons Against Mounts
-We have waypoints
-We are already going 25 MPH with Swiftness
-Unnecessary for Proper Gameplay
-People will complain if some mounts cost Gems
-Exploitable if not balanced
-Will make exploring TOO easy.
-“we dunt want WoW stuffz” (people comlaining that this game is turning into WoW)

Please fuel the fire, but do be professional and nice to others.

  • Skyrim has both mounts and fast travel. Why does one have to choose one or the other?
  • It depends on how ANet balance the speed. 25% speedboost is reasonable as players can just equip speedboost traits, signet, or runes. 25% is less than 33%.
  • What is proper gameplay?
  • People will complain if there is anything in the gemshop.
  • Then it better be balanced.
  • Not really, if 25% become standard for mounts, then it is no different than equipping a signet.
  • Then Skyrim is a WoW clone.

Nay:
- They might do something like WoW with flying mounts, or pixelated sparkle poneys for $20,- … really, the bow is already stretching it.
- Blocking NPC’s

  • There is tonics, why haven’t I got an Zhaitan Tonic yet?
  • A cluster of Charr and Norn already blocking the NPC. What do I do? I press f.

So really, the nay sayers are just shrieking: No no no no no.

I am one of the anti-mount people. Too many games have mounts and they cause problems for people who don’t like mounts, such as dragging aggroed mobs to them, etc.

If they add mounts, I want the all the mobs to have a skill like Ethereal Burden to slow the mounts to 50% of walking speed. I also want the mounts to be able to be killed and then you have to wait a certain time before your mount can be used again. This will make mounts not very useful, I know, but it will make mount users THINK before using, which they don’t in most games. Mounts are the most unimmersive part of any game.

I’ve watched this debate silently like forever and feel like it’s about time i say something.

I beg to differ Dusty Moon, because if implemented correctly, mounts can be awesome and add so much atmosphere to the game. Go and play Lotro and see how amazing a proper implementation of mounts can be. I cannot imagine that game without them, and collecting them is a huge business.

However, the reason i love Lotro’s mount system is coz it’s simple, they only have horses…..and goats which were added to travel through Moria as you cannot ride horses in Moria. I definitely wouldn’t like to see a whole menagerie of mounts, like in some other games and no, moas wouldn’t make good mounts, or flying ones etc. Horses on the other hand, or dolyaks, bring them on i say.

In Lotro, they’re also super awesome War Steeds used for mounted combat, but that’s another story. Another thing I like about Lotro’s system is the simplicity of use. Each mount has it’s on skill and works as a utility summon skill. The mounts server only to get u from A to B, they can be attacked and killed in which case you get dismounted and cannot re-summon until you’re out of combat.

This could work fine in gw2 with some exceptions. Because Lotro is a true open world, ie: you can ride your steed into town etc, but it still poses no problem, because Lotro has put their banks, Auction houses, crafting stations and other essential services within instanced buildings, into which ofc you cannot ride your mount.

Since gw2 has instanced towns, you would not be able to ride your mounts within cities, simple as that. But having said that, you shouldn’t get dismounted when going through portals between maps either, that would be just as annoying as the minis issue.

Another thing that is really nice in Lotro, they also have rent-a-horse stables in each city. These rented horses are much faster than your own and are immune to enemy attacks. You can rent a swift travel which costs more but instantly transports you to your destination, or you can rent a normal travel and enjoy the countryside as you travel across the map. The steed will automatically ride to your destination and dismount you when you arrive. How awesome is that? And really, what is wrong with that? I know we have wp’s but so what? people can have choices. If you don’t want mounts then don’t use them, you have alternative travel and everyone is happy.

That’s the crux of my feelings on the matter.

You need compelling arguments for why mounts would be beneficial or necessary, that do not amount to :

1. it would be cool
2. I want it.
3. Why not?

I see that so far this mount thread lacks any compelling reasons for mounts.

What I believe will happen is..those wanting mounts will try to Put those NOT, on the defensive demanding reasons why we should not have mounts, and many of those that do not want mounts will forget…that since we that do not want them, are not asking Anet to change the game, we do not need any compelling arguments against mounts.

The only argument we need is." No mounts, we are fine with the status-quo."

Those that want mounts need to make compelling arguments for why they are either beneficial, or necessary, and why they are worth the time, energy, and resources that Anet would have to put into implementing mounts, and show that any benefits derived thus, are not already available with what is already implemented.

“It looks cool” is a compelling reason because this game is about “It looks cool.”

  • Asking for a Belinda Katana only has one reason: “It looks cool.”
  • Asking for this armor only has one reason: “It looks cool.”
  • People spend tons of money on gemstore weapons and armor not because it gives any stats bonus but “It looks cool.”

If “It looks cool” argument doesn’t generate any revenue, then ANet wouldn’t continue with the Gem stores.

I’ll sum up the constant, constant arguments:

- Housing -
Some do for the sake of privacy and community, and to put the “guild” back in Guild Wars 2.
Some don’t because it’s “pointless” and “vain” and isn’t “content”.

- Mounts -
Them: NO NO NO NO
Other Them: But they’d be coooool~
Them: NONONONO
Other Them: But gold sinks and style and
Them: CLUTTER NONONONOOO

…but to do it more justice, actually:

Nay:
It’s a vanity resource, waypoints are superior to mounts in most cases, and it may pull resources away from building content. Some feel it is inappropriate to lore and theme (the “not WoW” argument) as they may be ridiculous or be used to bother players and block NPCs. Also, status quo also runs in this direction, so we might not see them in development.
If mounts come with speed, all the classes would have to be redesigned, and ANet will have to decide how to distribute for balance and power (gems only, WvW yes/no, etc).

Yea:
Mounts are cool, handy to get around sprawling maps with locked waypoints, and can generate both revenue and gold sinks into the game.

Lots of good Nay reasons, not so many Yea reasons, and the Yea doesn’t really tackle the humongous effort it would take to introduce them properly.

  • Weapon and armor, mini pets, finishers, tonics is pretty much, “It looks cool.” Gem store and the endgame is all about, “It looks cool.”
  • Press F to talk to npc. A cluster of Charr and Norn blocks NPC, but I had almost no problem talking to those npc.
  • If Mounts come with speed, then only the Mount speed needs to be balanced. It could be 0% to 25%, or if ANet wants it, 153285%. Redesigning the entire professions makes no sense.

The reason is simple, it will lead to report abuse. There will be no reliable way to find match manipulators. I can report that player I think is throwing the match, but maybe he isn’t.

ANet will ban innocent players or rarely enforce this at all.

The problem with making the PvP Bank free:

  • It will turn HoTM a PvE hub. PvErs can instantly go to the HotM with a click of a button and go back to where they were. It will make cities obsolete except for crafting or buying unique rewards. There are vendors and trait sellers.

PvErs should go to their own hub.

Because it is a free bank. Players can just port to HoTM and go straight back to the last place they went to.

… And the same can be done by porting into WvW, but I haven’t seen anyone EVER complain about that. Like, not even being sarcastic. I have yet to see one complaint about it. Look, we’re back to square two!

Actually WvW has been brought up several times in this thread – on the higher population servers, at peak times, all four WvW maps with bank/crafting/TP/forge access are usually full and require queueing. The worlds with the most players would gain quite a lot from this particular don’t-lose-your-map-position bank.

Add to that the fact that in all maps apart from home borderlands, it’s entirely possible that your bank won’t be accessible due to lack of upgrade/enemy holding keep (and that the mystic forge isn’t guaranteed in[b]any[b] map…) and it becomes much more relevant that there would be permanent, free, always-available banking and forging and whatever else we got in the HotM.

Really, unless we pay for it (ewwww no, I hate this, please no) or we filter by PvP rank (which won’t really help; it really doesn’t take that long to hit 80 now), the only way to stop people from using HotM as just a use-anywhere banking/forging station is to gate entry or exit from it. This can be by charging to enter or leave (which doesn’t fix the ‘get back to exactly where you started’ problem) or by only letting them freely move in one direction (can enter from anywhere/leave to LA or can only get in through LA/leave to… LA).

My favourite solution is definitely to allow players to enter from anywhere in the open world, but only leave to Lion’s Arch – through the portal in the HotM, or through the button in the PvP window that currently returns players to their previous location.
It makes it impossible to just pop in to ‘use the facilities’ (and those who try to will just end up in LA where everything already is anyway), but regular customers who are there for PvP won’t have the inconvenience of mapping out and in again whenever they want to manage their inventories.

EDIT: oh, I forgot about the other method that’s been suggested – give PvP players tokens through reward tracks with which to access HotM conveniences. I’m against this because it’s unnecessary hassle, and would be a nuisance to balance – how many matches/how frequently in each track do these tokens get awarded? How many uses do they have/how long do they stay valid for once used? I don’t feel that it’s worth the effort of making bank access ‘fair’ through this system when there are, in my opinion, much simpler ways to go about it.

That + it will make HoTM a PvE hub.

HoTM should be a PvP only hub.

Next I wanted to say my purpose for being here. My goal every time I come to the forums is to create conversation and try to truly understand what each of your thoughts are on a particular topic. Anyone can write “I want XXXXXX” and that doesn’t really mean anything to someone who is not willing to read between the lines. The first question I ask when I see such a statement is, Why and does is affected by that decision?

Luckily our community (yes I mean you fine gentlemen and women) are very good at explaining yourselves and giving great feedback on both high level and a detailed level, and for that I again appreciate you as a community.

Now back to the topic at hand.

I really enjoy the multiple ways that people are trying to solve this specific issue. I know people have been asking for it and that is why I am here. The goal here which a few of you have touched on is that this request actually meshes with a few high level design decisions. For instance:

1. Does this request (bank in the mists) fall into convenience or core functionality?
* Free, Gems, or gold
2. Should this be a reward for PvP’ers only?
* Based off rank, achievements, etc.
3. How do we gate it?
* Time, Prestige, etc.

I don’t think these questions are unsolvable by any means, but that still need to be solved. Many have already weighed in on these questions and came up with really good points.

OK. Why does it have to be monetized for the subject to be paid attention to? I’m not trying to be hostile, but it’s a little disappointing when the subject is jumped on the second someone mentions gems.

This is an NPC not a special character/item/event and you can find them in every city and in some areas out in the PvE maps, surely this is something simple to implement should you actually want to. You’re not having to carve up rifts in time and space to achieve the positioning of an NPC.

This is clearly something that is for player convenience rather than something needed, I’m pretty sure that question doesn’t even need to be asked. This is absolutely a quality of life addition that a lot of people are asking for. In most games, if a player is asking for something for a simple convenience, mostly they get what they are asking for to improve their own experience (I’m not saying going through a couple loading screens is hard and I don’t really mind having a bank NPC or not), so shouldn’t that be the main focus issue here rather than turning Fagin and seeing it as yet another opportunity to cash-in on something that other games would have just put in without chasing that dollar.

It’s an NPC, why should it be a reward, why should it be time gated? It’s just to access a bank to clear an inventory, it’s not opening the secret realms of how to obtain precursors…….

Here’s the simplest solution: Add a bank NPC to the mists because players would actually like it, wouldn’t have to leave the mists if they were PvPers, etc etc. Just give the playerbase what they are asking for instead of turning it into an overly complex issue when it totally isn’t one.

Because it is a free bank. Players can just port to HoTM and go straight back to the last place they went to.

Lol no offense but a “token” system is a bit kittened especially since we can simply take the portal to Lionsarch and use the bank there. No one is going to use up “tokens” if they can just take the portal to Lionsarch and use the bank there. I wouldn’t mind a reasonable rank requirement of like 20-30 (like I specified in my post above) but a token system would be a waste of effort on Arenanet’s part. I would NEVER use consumable tokens if I can simply just go to Lionsarch and use the bank there so as far as anyone with logic is concerned it might as well be implemented with a reasonable rank requirement (20-30 if needed) for pvpers to use.

That is fine if players want to go to the portal to LA.

There is no cost to gaining tokens except for playing PvP. If pvp or pve players want to go to LA, that is fine. But that is extra loading time for them.

As I said, the tokens will be rewarded alongside with the leveling tome. It is a timesink, not a goldsink. It is a timesink which requires the player to be in PvP.

PvP is already not real PvP . If a match can be won without killing a single player then there’s already a huge problem with this game.

Or the enemy team is plain bad or the entire team is afk. I want to see a pacifist match, I never seen one like this.

Then they should implement something to fix it. If switching teams gets more rank points than not switching, of course people will switch. If rewards for winning are 250% the rewards for losing, of course people will want to win at any cost. When you can spend 3min12sec on the winning team to get the same reward as 8+min on the losing team…

Yeah, I’ve suggested before it could be a simple fix: Don’t allow players to switch to the other team once they’ve picked one. Even if they drop back to spectator, don’t allow them to swap to the other team.

Sounds good in paper.

But if this was implemented. I would just change matches. It wouldn’t solve anything.
