The QQ about this has been hilarious. Literally you have 1 thing to watch for from a power ranger at range. Dodge it.
You also have to watch out for PBS; otherwise, he’ll use it to get rapid fire attacks on you.
I see plenty of PBS + Rapid fire.
Hunter shot is also something to worry about if you want the ranger to die. Otherwise, he’ll disappear and then reappear to use rapid fire from the otherside of the room at 1500 range.

The major buff to Power Ranger to me is Entangle.
Even though the duration is reduce from 20 seconds to 5 seconds, no person with a single brain cell is going to stay for 20 seconds.
However, the cooldown reduction made Entangle way more spammable than before.

Yeah, you did, when you stated that FT builds should change weapons. There are some solid builds with FT/HgH elixir builds for example. It is reasonable to discuss the idea of not being punished for the main attack on the main utility the build is designed around.

The ‘solution’ here is to swap to a weapon where retaliation is less effective.
Believe it or not, there is more then one solution to many problems. Personally I would like to see the hits per channel cut in half and simply double the damage per hit.
How many hours do either of you have on the FT by the way?
Enough to know that Flamethrower isn’t the only weapon that engineer has.

I am gonna bump this because it must be fixed. There should be no weapon or kit punishing its user and making it absolutely unuseable. I just want devs to see this and go test it just for 1 hour in wvw in a zerg. Im sure they will notice the problem and maybe fix it. Another way to fix this is giving juggernaut immunity for retaliation and removing its toughness bonus for balance.

Give it a Draw Spirit. or a “Call Turret.”
In PvP, Engineers can place turrets around in all different spots. Two in mid point, one in home point. Then if the engineer gets ganked, he calls turrets to his position and then they face turret hell.
In PvE and WvW, engineers use it to haul around the turrets.
All game mode benefit greatly from this without turrets being another minion clone.

I’ve never understood why the water spirit never generated a water field. I mean “water” spirit, “water” field.
That thing needs all the help it can get too, definitely a buff worth considering.

- Turret Placement Increase the placement time of turrets to 1s.
While this wouldn’t make a dent to Passive turret play, it will greatly destroy my mobile turret build which require way more active play.
It revolves around creating and destroying turrets for defensive effects.
I reject this idea completely because this idea is terrible. It doesn’t address passive play but only hurts other builds a lot more.

My suggestion:
- Remove Dagger auto attack and replace it with Life siphon. Dagger #2 is replaced with a Necro version of Backstab that does a big lifesteal + cause weakness.
- To give Necro back their cleave, Axe auto attack will be melee only + gain a chain auto-attack. Chop -> chop -> chop
- Stats, damage coefficient will be balanced normally.
Why? I really felt that Life siphon should have been auto attack rather than the dagger auto attack. It makes more sense to me.
Why should Axe, a bigger and more deadlier weapon, should be range, while a dagger, a smaller weapon, should be melee? It makes no sense to me.
Plus, This change will make dagger necro feel more like Blood Mage, life stealer, etc. While Axe Necro feels more like a battle necro or whatever.

This is something that happens in every single mmorpg. Regardless how it’s oriented.
At the end of the day it all comes to 1 simple conclusion, if ANET doesn’t want to lose a huge portion of their playersbase, they will have to do something about it. They will HAVE to keep us entertained same as in every single other mmo.
It doesn’t matter what YOU think think about it and how you perceive the people that aren’t happy with the game, since you’re still playing it. What matters is why those people aren’t happy with the game. If anet wants to stop this player sink as well as bring old players back (in other words, increase the amount of potential customers) they WILL HAVE TO do something about it.
That’s how business work.
In other words, you want ANet to do the impossible.

@runeblade.7514 It doesn’t matter if we don’t have cooldown on weapon switching. Even if we take 3 kits we will still need to use auto attack there is no other option.
Then you use other weapon auto attack because retaliation won’t hurt as much.
Air blast and Napalm are useless in this kind of situations. And after patch napalm will trigger retaliation aswell so there is another nail in our coffin.
Air blast is quite useful in neutralizing the enemy so they can’t take the advantage when retaliation is up.
Napalm is useful for the fire field, great for might stacking. Plus, it won’t hurt as much.

For Spirit weapon to be viable, it needs only one change.
- Make it like the old Nature spirit where they start cooldown when the spirit weapon is summoned. Or…
- Reduce cooldown to 25 seconds for all the spirit weapons.
It will be more balanced since spirit weapons are in the power trait line, making SW guards more killable than any other AI profession.

But that is just a workaround. As you’re basically saying to avoid using flamethrower, due to how common retaliation is.
Again, what’s the point of having an autoattack with such drawbacks? Low damage multi-hit skills are completely useless due to retaliation, they harm the user more than the enemies. And an autoattack can’t have anything other than a relatively low damage.
Blind and Aegis completely block my Eviscerate. Anet should buff Eviscerate so that it can hit two times to make my skill useful.

Flame Blast/Air Blast/Napalm/Smoke Vent are skills in the Flamethrower kit that are not neutralized. Flame Jet is Not the entire kit.

Engineers can switch weapons at will with a one second cooldown. They can adapt to every situations very easily than any other profession. If the weapon swap was 5-10 seconds, I would agree since it means the engineer must stand still and do nothing if the engineer has a cooldown on weapon swap. But, because it is a one second swap, Engineers can just swap weapon, wait for retal to disappear and change back to Flamethrower.
However, I do not see a convincing reply why Flame Jet should be changed. Other than, “I want it.”

Maybe you can tell me how it was resolved for you, as the response I got was to open the game in window-mode. But that did nothing, I still cannot get any gems.

Honeatly that’s a cool idea but I don’t think it’s GM worthy. We don’t realy care about projectiles with oir 1500 range and point blank shot we can handle other projectiles users just fine. Our top concern is melee.
We can’t realy do anything against a thief or a guardian teleporting in our face, and strider’s defense should adress that issue.
Something like “gain protection and retaliation as long as you attack in melee” or “gain aegis after you dodge” or maybe even both.
Reflecting Pin down is GM worthy.

That isn’t a solution at all.
It is a weapon that is supposed to be used versus multiple opponents. And yet ends up backfiring in the same exact situation it is supposed to be used for.
And we’re talking about an autoattack, anyway. Since when one should risk so much to deal an autoattack?
