From reading your posts in this thread, OP you are confusing.

You say that objectives are important but you also don’t want to be punished for leaving a point against a powerful elite. Your objective was to hold that point…

You say that there is no reason to not go full zerk because some focus by more people will melt you anyway? Have you ever played a pvp match? Have you heard of roles? Have you seen a good bunker at work? I assume you haven’t.

Of course nobody is complaining. They brought the class back to roughly where it was before the spec. patch. Now everyone can have fun playing against kitten celestial eles and tanky engineers that nobody can kill because they nerfed the class that could.

Enjoy.

Why burning isn't op.

burning isnt op, people would just rather not run builds that have condi removal. Everyone in this forum wants to run a pure zerker build then cry’s dmg is too high.

I do wish they would slightly lower burn dmg and slightly raise bleed. By tiny amounts

In its current state it is OP because unless you build specifically for it, you won’t be able to remove it in any viable way. Let’s say you have 3 ways to cleanse (which is already a lot more than some have), do you cleanse 1 stack and waste the cleanse? Do you wait until you have 5 stacks and cleanse? You’d have lost a lot of health by then and lo and behold the next 2-3 stacks are already on you.

Some classes just have burning too readily available to have effective counterplay.

Nah hes right, if you push a mes into a guardians role you end up with a kittenty guardian that doesn’t use any of the mesmers potential. Might as well just use a guard. If you replace the assassin however you can actually play mesmers strengths and outperform assa/engi in some regards.

What are these mesmer potential strengths that are not listed? The amazing dps?

mesmers has too many traits made baseline

in PvP

Posted by: serenke.4806

serenke.4806

The point that people are trying to make is, it does not matter how many traits from the OLD system were made baseline for mesmers. The old system does not matter anymore, get over it.

And for that matter, why even have builds? Make everything baseline and just smash keys.

This question is not about what is fair numerically, but what is fair and what works balance-wise.

Also: if you get “bursted” for 18k then you were either afk or looking at a tv show or high or all of these at once. There is no way in hell you were bursted for that much without enough time to react. Now if you had rubbish utilities or couldn’t dodge for whatever reason, that’s your own fault.

Power or condi Mesmer for PvP?

The answer is simple. You will feel utterly useless as condi mesmer if the enemy team has a dd ele or a bunker guardian and you are trying to fight in fights involving those.

So if you REALLY want to use condi, pick your fights. No matter what the condi mesmers on the forums say, you will be dead weight to your team if you try to take down those heavy condi cleanse classes.

Almost every single traitline got buffed like mad and some very niche, pointless and poor builds got changed around. I don’t see a problem. Most people I’ve talked to love the specialisation system, after adjusting their various builds to fit with it.

RIP thief pistol/pistol
RIP ranger traps(throwable)

so…..buff? what buff. forcing us to play “League builds” instead of our old “less effective but more fitting to our own playstyle” build?

Just for curiosity… How about ppl using “less effective” builds and crying on forums because ppl kick/avoid them?

P.S.
I don’t use meta builds as i don’t use clown builds, just to be clear: I use personal builds with suggestions from my guildes usually.

eh i didn’t cry. though i probably should have.

back when i only got kicked 30% of time i’d just jump to next group

but now. they see 2 pistols and its kick time…and i’ve abandoned the class entirely.

Pistol-pistol thief has never been good at anything. I’ve tried to make it work as well as those “clown meta” builds using daggers or sword-pistol but it just did not work. At some point you have to realize that a build sucks and that you should only use it in open world where nobody cares.

According to the leaks, 20 per weapon.

Twenty? That means that to get the whole collection someone without any skins would have to get 380 pristines! That’s just outrageous. We should consider making it 5 pristines per skin to make it easier for everyone to get their skins. /s

Do you realize how it can be outrageous right now to get all weapons? Since. Fractals came out ive been striving for the weapons. RNG gods were only in my favor every 2-3 months sometimes to encounter a skin.

Lawd forbid people actually have to put in work to get something that was rare/barely droped.

I do realize as i actually have farmed them all myself? I do not know how many fractals i ran since my frequenter maxed out a long time ago. And i realize there is no “prestige” involved in it. But i also do not get the whole complaining about drop rates.

It is perfectly possible to get all of the skins as shown in the other thread where people linked their complete collections.

And about putting in work… I have around 90k fractal relics, 600 pristines, 10 fractal back pieces, i’ve spent 20k relics on obsidian shards another 20k on skill points to turn into gold. I think i’ve put in enough work to have the skins.

Welcome to the world of everyone who loved the mesmer from GW1 and was disappointed to the max. with the GW2 version of it.

I don’t think interrupts as such will ever become as great as they used to be in GW1, Anet does not seem to want people to be punished for what they do. People hate to be interrupted anyway and in this pvp we can’t have that. This was made apparent by the whole “OMG i get stunned by that mesmer” whine from last month.

I agree, we would benefit from those things you proposed and i’m also still missing hexes as a mechanic. But this game here is a dumbed-down version of that game there and nothing we say here will change that.

Depends on how easy it is to get the upgraded fractal weapon skins since they are where the prestige is supposed to be now. If getting those upgraded skins is relatively difficult i see no problem with 20 pristine relics for a weapons considering it would take a week of doing fractals to get enough of them for a skin guaranteed.

100 P.relics is unrealistic seeing as that would take over a month to earn enough relics for one skins.

I get it with the hard work to get it in the past but what they are trying to do is provide incentive for people to jump into the new fractal game type because it isnt as widely played as they would like currently. Making the goal achievable in a reasonable time frame, i.e. 1 week of doing fractals every day, to get a single skin of your choice is acceptable in my eyes even though it took a while to get the ones i wanted now.

If they wanted to make people do more fractals, they would not make SW so much more appealing and rewarding (in terms of gold/materials).

If fractals skins are easy to get in the future, why would those who have never done fractals do them? To get a skin that everyone has? If they want one of the skins, they can just farm the swamp (or whichever will be the fastest), get the skin and never set foot in there again. It’s how it’ll be because it has happened before with dungeons (for example 500 arah tokens for certain legendaries).

This solution they are offering is no solution and Anet has maneuvered themselves into a really bad situation a long time ago.

Specializations... Killing the game?

I always find it funny that for so many people change means instantly failure.

adapt or do not adapt, that is up to you. use the tools given like it or not if not well then it might be not your thing but it does not make it a failure…

Yes I agree that most of the time people see the change as a failure. But what we say is the logic path.

Of course a game with many players cannot die fast, it won’t close from one day to another (check gw1 people still play) but.. if it shows more “killer” changes in the future… it will lose people slowly. And most important don’t forget the competition that every day a new game appears.

Divercity makes a game rich and interesting. Killing it is NOT good. I don’t think you or anyone else can disagree with this.

Specializations are not killing the game. If anyone says that their super special, fun, ultra-effective build cannot work now… they are misguided. They perceived their special snowflake build as effective because every random build will work in open world, every random build will eventually get dungeons done, any build will “work” in random wvw zergfights.

The real problem is, those special snowflake builds are simply put, not good. Yes, you could have played a 3/5/3/0/3 build before specializations. Yes, you cannot make those funky support-condi-blabla builds, but honestly, you should never have made them.

I know it is fun to theorycraft and come up with stuff, then see it in action (That aspect is still there btw), but having a hundred thousand combinations out of which 2 work is not any better than having, i don’t know, a hundred combinations which enable you to actually play your class 5+ different ways.

100 or more prestine fractal relics is my vote. I worked hard playing this stupid rng game for 2 years and still have two skins left. The SWORD and spear gun. I have over 500 prestine fractal relics so I’m sure enough to be able to buy the last two I need.

I always get comments from people asking were I got my daggers or long bow ect. And when they hear fractals they know that the length of time and rng makes it as rare as legendary skins.

And rarity is bad? Well, with the new system they won’t be rare or anything to ask about. That is kind of the point.

People don’t use it because it makes characters bald, thus metrics show that not enough people use it, therefore Anet thinks the balding issue does not have to be solved. Catch 22 anyone?

Seriously what’s the problem with just accepting that there are things you can’t have?

Like Illconceived Was Na already explained, it’s not prestige or showing off. And as someone who came to GW1 relatively late, i also saw a lot of things i would have liked but i just was not playing when they were available.

I had other things to do, maybe other games to play. Either way, i was not there to get them. Period.

Same applies here. The player who is using the skin you want but cannot have is not there to kitten you off or show off or make you feel like a “noob”.

But whatever, Anet is moving in a direction where practically everything will be easy to get either via gemstore or by some grinding.

Hell yeah! But at least the mesmer community can say that we’ve finally achieved what seemed impossible before. We made the developers do what we asked for! Going to be pedantic here but the word you’re looking for is not optimal… the correct word is easy.

It’s not always the case that a thief is worth taking in a path, and rarely is guardian ever optimal just easier to play with for more casual runs. Even in casual runs, it is incorrect to ever say that this pug mentality of “metazerk” is optimal.

It actually does make me frown a little to see how many people on this game actually think guardian is necessary for a run to be smooth. Not saying this is you, just in general.

True, thanks for the correction. I indeed meant more easy. And i also agree with not always needing a guardian for getting things done.

“Metazerk” lfgs usually mean guardian, warrior, elementalist, thief. They don’t want anything else because they are short sighted.
