You have to learn one thing, GW1 lore made sense and was awesome in GW1 while most of it makes no sense in GW2. Simply because GW2 is another game with the same name and nothing more.

Matchmaking has to be fixed/adjusted, take number of matches played into account or use some other indicator because it happened that i felt absolutely terrible for steamrolling a full guild premade in pretty much their first match ever.

That’s not how you get people to play pvp. If it happens to them more than once, it will eventually discourage them and it’s NOT what experienced pvpers want from their matches either.

You can reach level 30 in a couple of hours. Then you can do dungeons if you so desire.
The game throws xp at you for everything, events, killing mobs, gathering, exploring, crafting.

No xp gain for pvp? My 550 tomes of knowledge beg to disagree.

Are you saying mesmer has no passive or rng? Tell me more about how you get 1 free clone every dodge with no internal cd or how your ilusions inflict bleeding on crit or about the fire+air sigil, etc..

It’s not a “free” clone because you have to use a trait slot for it.
Also, clones only bleed on crit if you have spent points in dueling.
I know you have no clue about how mesmer works but you should really try to write your comments to at least appear informed.

As for celestial, i think it’s not OP as some say, but looking at PvP lately it should probably be nerfed just for the sake of the game.
Celestials are perfect to queue up alone, self-sufficent, no need to rely on team mates. But if you take the team aspect of it, PvP becomes less interesting.

Another option is that they lied, which is not something you should do when you are a game developer.

Why does this balancing WvW come up every now and again?

The game mode itself is a sandbox. There are so many factors (number of people in a BL on either side, their level, their gear, their build, food, commanders). There is no balance. WvW balance is a lie.

All i have to say to those narrow sighted “meta-or-kitten-off” guys, is that you have to learn to enjoy the game and play for fun or don’t play at all. It is a game afterall.

No can do. Got to have perfect rotations and such, if a party member does something half a second too late they should be kicked and reported for griefing.

Dungeons are serious business after all.

I like a smooth run just as much as anybody else but honestly sometimes people get carried away with their whole dungeon expertise. The game has an AI that is as smart as an amoeba, aside from certain cases it does not react to what players do. Therefore a well-trained monkey could be taught to do these dungeons.

It’s a valid concern if i think about it. I’ll keep salvaging stuff after having maxed luck, but then luck essences will keep piling up rather quickly, hogging inventory space.
Sure, i can delete the essences -or Arenanet can come up with a solution to this.
And yes… sooner or later this will be a problem for everyone who says you shouldn’t have “rushed” it.

Ranger is easier than Mesmer, but Mesmer is still pretty easy. There are harder specs in this game, specs that take real skill. Even Thief is more skill-based than Mesmer really but I guess it’s just hard to understand that just because you play a Mesmer.

Nicest community?

serenke.4806

The PvP-phobia in this thread is amazing. The community is not THAT toxic, but because of such threads it has come to the point where you think about using team chat twice since you could be labeled a “rager” for saying “please don’t go mid” or “don’t push far”…

Also, if that necro in your example was actually trying necro for the first time and they went to unranked immediately, i can see why people would tell them to go to hot join (or maybe some stronger words).

It’s quite toxic to join unranked/ranked with a class you don’t know how to play because you will be a dead weight for your team to carry.

Phobia implies fear. In my case, I fear PvP about as much as I fear a screaming toddler at the movie theater.

It’s a nuisance to me, and one that seems to do everything in its power to be unignorable as often as possible.

Not a thing more.

People mentioned that it went that far, that they are nervous pressing the queue button. There’s also a lot of comments mentioning to just stay out of pvp because that’s the root of all evil, so yeah i still claim that the PvP phobia is rampant in this thread. Perhaps not you of course, if you don’t fear the queue don’t feel included in this.

Found the old Commando class trailer and look, old idle and running animation on females. But nowadays, you cannot make these cool videos anymore, A-Net.

Commando Class
1:25 & 3:15 stretch animation | 3:32 front view run animation

Nice find! Those were the days… Honestly, i cannot grasp why it’s so difficult to just put the animations back in the game. Especially since miniatures, inappropriate armour combos (pink moustached norns, etc.) tonics (in the eternal alchemy cutscene) have ruined our immersion anyway.

We laughed those off so why is stretching and kicking dirt such a heinous act? Can we at least have all of the above removed as well so as to keep our immersion intact? Or have the animations put back.

My HoT wish: Fractal tokens should be usable.

Getting them guaranteed will turn fractals – the only place which is not afflicted by this – into something resembling a regular workplace.

That is your opinion. For me Fractals are exactly like dungeons -> a grind. The only reason why I enjoy dungeons a bit more is because I get guaranteed rewards that are useful to me (gold). Fractals are just as much work, but without the guaranteed reward that I consider worthwhile. I don’t see how giving players a guaranteed way of achieving their goal would make it more like work.
It doesn’t really matter if you spam Fractals to get more relics or to get more dice rolls, the latter just feels less rewarding and gives less people an incentive to run them, since they might get nothing in return.

So basically you – and most other people here – actually find dungeons/fractals/the game a grind and don’t really do anything for the sake of doing it but to get the awesome rewards. The whole thing with everything in this game is, the community wouldn’t lift a finger if not rewarded by lots of in-game gold or items they can turn into gold.

If you recall how in the beginning everybody was running around in CoF gear because it was considered high-end gear and a full set meant you completed your zerk set. Now we turn dungeon tokens into ectos and salvage materials and only a few actually wear CoF things and people only run dungeons as a source of gold and find it a drag (we cry for better rewards from them all the time).

Now apply the same mechanic to fractals, give skins for relics and ruin it just like every other dungeon. I understand that people quit doing fractals because they didn’t get the skin they wanted, but i have to ask, once you get your skin for relics wouldn’t you quit anyway? How is it different if you run 100 fractals, get the desired skin and quit or if you run 100 fractals, end up with a few skins you didn’t want and quit because you were disappointed? Bottom line is, you’ve stopped doing fractals…

Imagine if people would do content because of the challenge, the company (doing guild runs), and only consider the reward on third place. It all happens in the mind, you can turn anything into a grind if your first and foremost incentive is that you want to get something.

Chronomancer may not use Illusions

in Mesmer

Posted by: serenke.4806

serenke.4806

It still will. If you think about it Anet is going to have to redesign every single mesmer weapon for the chronomancer to not use illusions. That is a massive undertaking.

“While Chronomancers create clones, they don’t actually try to attack a target, instead they perform the same animations as the Chronomancer wherever they were created.”

(… actually, please make that a change to Mesmers as a whole, I could actually fool people with my clones then)

That won’t fool anybody unless you are stationary, which I doubt in a mobile focused combat like in this game.

Imagine if the clones would mimic all the actions of the mesmer including movement. That’d be a mess and also great fun.

I understand it can be disheartening to get no skin for ages, or to get duplicates. It’s the one time when you do get it that makes up for it.
It’s also stupid when someone gets the skin you wanted on their first run while you didn’t get it for months.

But once you can actually put a price tag on fractal skins (time spent, not gold) they are just worthless because you can get it guaranteed if you just work for it.

“Work for it…”

Getting them guaranteed will turn fractals – the only place which is not afflicted by this – into something resembling a regular workplace.

Bottom line is, do fractals because you enjoy doing it, because you do it with friends or guildies and when you get that skin, be happy. Don’t turn it into a second job.

How can we changed WvW to prevent the blob

in WvW

Posted by: serenke.4806

serenke.4806

As long as both sides have an equally big blob, it’s fun. It’s as close to an actual battlefield as it will ever get in this game and like others have said, if you want small scale combat you have pvp or you can flip camps to help the main blob achieve its goals.

There is one problem with the blob, if the other two worlds have nowhere near as big a blob as one. Then it’s incredibly one-sided, but it’s not exactly the game mode’s fault.

So yeah, to stop the blob, get a bigger or more organised blob and may the better one win.

I beg to differ. It totally is the game’s fault through either poor or intentional design that one side has a huge blob that can roll through an entire border land unimpeded. As I have said before and will continue to say until I’m blue in the face: normalize the base power levels of the servers dynamically and virtually all of the problems plaguing WvW will go away. I don’t see a functional difference between a 40 man Zerg moving in unison melting everything in sight vs the only guy on the opposing server doing the same (extreme example, but you get the point).

The game has to be fun for both sides playing. Last time I checked, it’s not fun to be a loot bag because your outnumbered 3:1 no matter what time of day your on. My server has attempted every conceivable strategy to overcome such odds, but it’s always a numbers game. And we’re tired. And we understand why people jump ship to the safety of the friendly blob. But in the end, we’re on course for the active WvW population to condense down to a handful of servers who aren’t bored of blobbing and a whole lot of empty ones.

It sucks to be outnumbered of course, but WvW cannot be completely normalized since it’s basically a big sandbox. It is what the players make of it.

And if you see the enemy blob rampage somewhere, then go elsewhere, capture other things. If they have scouts and move to intercept, split up and capture things like that.

Even an 80-person blob cannot be in three places at once and you can take care of a lot with three 15-person groups.
