It does not really matter which class you play, every class has some way to stay alive, avoid damage (be it blocks, invulnerability, reflects, vigor to keep doding more often), you just simply have to learn the encounters, use these defensive skills to not die when the boss attacks and attack when it is not attacking.

But but this is how HoT will be.
The devs recognized how phantasms force you to never shatter, but if their only response to that is a phantasm recharge on shatter trait, then they must still have not gotten the message. Phantasms were a bad idea from the very beginning. Phantasms should be expendable. They shouldn’t make up half of our DPS.
This is interesting, i see so many mesmers complain about shatters or phantasms that it makes me wonder every time… If you don’t like the core mechanics of a class then why are you not playing another class?

Here’s what will happen:
- OP explains how they like the outfit(s) in the gemstore but would want to mix and match so they won’t buy it
- some people come to explain how they would NEVER buy an outfit because of principles
- others will explain how outfits are ok because you can wear them on any class, change without transmutation, etc.
- people will claim they’d pay thousands of gems just to be able to mix and match certain parts of a certain outfit
- they’ll come up with ideas how to solve the “problem”… release both outfit and armor set, give parts a toggle (show/hide), etc.
- the thread moves to the second page and is buried
- anet brings another nice-looking outfit…
repeat.
The only thing i’m wondering now is what the next community project will be.

Detha doesn’t begin building traps
- Reproduction: Detha is in combat when going to the trap area?
- Prevention: Kill enemies. Use stealth to skip (don’t get in combat). Get whole team and Detha out of combat before going to the trap area?
- Fix: Get Detha killed.
Just wanted to add that I had this bug show up yesterday. However, the fix with getting Detha killed doesn’t seem to apply. We tried killing her multiple times, but she still wont trigger the trap building event.
Yeah i didnt think that bug could be fixed outside of restarting the dungeon. :P
IIRC, I have got it work after killing her. The event might be multistepped so depending on when it bugs you may get different results.

I’ve gotten it fixed with killing Detha but i’ve seen killing her not work, no clue what was different between the runs.
So, the ‘bug’ was fixed, but we have been unable to use the HoM because some people have some ‘stuff’ they shouldn’t have … I’m confused?
So tell me again why we cannot access the HoM?
Because as it has been explained in the thread, if they would open the HoM now, those who have gotten the HoM points for free would also be able to get the rewards (skins, pets) and that would in turn make removing the ill-gotten rewards even more problematic.
Instead of removing some APs and titles and stuff, they would have to track down and remove these skins and pets as well.
Because while Faren’s speedo would be fine, Kasmeer’s bikini would cause an immediate uproar from every activist, self-proclaimed women’s rights prophets and i’m sure even more. Everybody knows that video games are a cesspool and they turn females into objects, yadda yadda yadda.

… you arrive in mid in forest and then die 3v1 while your team kills your animal (which gets stolen by the enemy thief).
… two of your team defends your treb because it’s quite important.
Considering how Dry Top plays and that zone was leading up to Silverwastes… I consider these two zones the testing grounds for HoT. So expect a lot of the same exciting mechanics and working together for a common goal in the expansion.

Well, this is surely an amazing idea. We definitely need more RNG in the game so keep it coming. Make sure that it’s in some select regions only because herding people to certain areas has never kittened off the players before either.

Signing up to a list and hope for an invite is just as much RNG.

Personally I’d rather they fix all the armor clipping issues on anything not human, then worry about a few animations.
The thing is, armor clipping issues are a common thing on everything including humans. The “few animations” have been in the game but they’ve been removed intentionally. That’s not exactly the same issue.

Short of receiving active stealth-canceling abilities, Mesmer is and will remain a “PvP-centric” profession that can’t PvP because we are effectively deleted from the game by another profession.
FYI, Thieves only hard counter Zerker Mesmers. NOT ALL.
And every non-zerker mesmer is a joke. I’ve had a nice 1v1 with some yesterday (several different mesmers in different matches) where i could just spam /shrug while they were trying to MtD me or danced around producing clones that did put “copious amounts of conditions” on me that i could cleanse away. Each time i just capped the point while they were pulling off their awesome combos…. Pretty impressive.

Always depends on the matchup. You build to counter conditions, of course a condition build is going to be countered by you. This shouldnt need stating -_-u
Indeed, but what’s the point of having a thief-killer mesmer who cannot do anything but kill thieves? This shouldn’t need stating either.
And for Pyro, no i am not posturing or exaggerating, but a zerk mesmer (shatter or interrupt) would have been dangerous where these were funny at best.

This happened. Although the posters there did not ask for a removal of animations but offered some ideas i’m still amazed that they were kitteny about this but not about the tonic-morphed scarlet’s machine videos or the miniatures spoiling their immersion in the cutscenes later on.

They could just give him ridiculously overpowered ranged underwater skills that dont require LOS, are unblockable and 1 shot everyone. :>

Then have a counter of how many tokens of a certain dungeon someone has acquired and scale it up that way (infinitely) until eventually you cannot beat the place. That will be fun to watch.

Yes, i had 5 mesmers in GW1. It relied on hexes… GW2 is not GW1, it never was, it does not have hexes.
You can churn out illusions at some insane rate so saying that you cannot use them against hard-hitting mobs is false. Illusions are NOT pets, they are not meant to tank for you, they are also not fire and forget unlike people claim sometimes.
Phantasms are summoned, hit once then they die, that’s the sad life cycle of phantasms.

While i don’t understand why you are upset about being “stuck with illusions” since that is the class mechanic and if you hate that then how can you play mesmer for any period of time…. i can understand the frustration about the stupid offhand.
It’d be great to have a talk with the dev who woke up some day and said: “let’s give mesmers a shield! that totally fits the class, they will love it!”
And i know people will now come and say that they think it fits a duelist and let’s wait until it is here and blabla… No it does not fit a duelist. Some heavily armored duelist maybe, but since when is mesmer heavily armored?
Who cares about PVE o.o WVW and PVP ftw.
zerg play or dealing with turret engis and shoutbows and thieves sounds like so much fun…
You should be able to destroy turret engis but if you are unable to, they will be nerfed soon so no worries.
They are also one of the squishiest classes and require a fair investment of time to learn to play properly.

I think it would be easier to just remove turrets altogether. I don’t get why instead of making certain skills useful, the balance is always: let’s make what is really good so bad that nobody uses it.
That being said, at least nobody will use turrets anymore so when you spot a turret engi it’ll be like seeing a spirit ranger, AH bunker guard, etc. a relic of a bygone age.
Still, it’s kind of sad to add to the already substantial amount of useless skills in game.
Don’t be sad, as if game content is being taken away from you. Be satisfied in that A.I has more of a place than most garbage-tier utility types. (Edit: Like Engineer Gadgets, Ele Glyphs, Ranger Shouts, Thief Traps.)
Spirit Rangers, Spirit Weapons, Minionmancers, Turrets,
These are all inherently useful for beginner players to artificially raise their battle strength, past what their mechanical skill corresponds with. Nobody that’s passionate about this game, and subsequently posting on these forums will (likely) fall into to category of people that these Turrets are designed to be used by. All games have cheese strategies that rocket you past the complete noobs when mastered.
So many people are disillusioned into thinking that A.I should have the potential to be optimal (meta), and if it isn’t, then it’s simply nerfed into uselessness. Yes, it may become useless for you, those who should have long mastered other strategies. It’s never a thankful reaction when one takes the bike out for a spin and finds out that Dad took the training wheels off while they slept.
In my opinion, for the good of the community, Turrets should join the background as a novelty/starter build and far away from the meta comp list. Currently, Turrets are strong enough to be meta, whereas Spirts, Sprit Weapons, Minionmancers, these are where they should be. Turrets represent a blatant error in balance philosophy where a day 1 entry build yields such comparatively strong results.
I don’t think you got what i meant. Having totally useless skills is bad for the game. I am not using turrets because that build has several inherent weaknesses that have been explained a million times already. Bottom line is, why have X number of skills/traits for every profession if only half of them are anywhere near viable at any level of competition. Be it AI or otherwise.
They should just nerf slick shoes to oblivion as well, because honestly there is nothing extremely professional about running around in circles.
Also the more i think about this, the more i think that the whole change is being done only because of a certain team’s (with 3 turret engis) relative success against a relatively “pro” team recently.

It’s traits we are talking about. Traits are an integral part of any build. “aren’t really that strong”? What? Sorry but WHAT?
I recall that working really well for the spider queen. Generally speaking though, they may still use skills, but not necessarily to their full effect.
LoS was just a minor aspect of my post though.
They fixed the spider queen a long time ago exactly because of this.
Nobody says you can only complete content with zerker gear, it just happens to be that you do not benefit at all from any other combos because you use your other tools to avoid being smacked. Try to complete any dungeon with a group of cleric’s guards traited 01661 and with runes of mercy. You WILL do it, but the lame zerkers will have done half a dungeon sweep by the time you do one path of a single dungeon.
The idea behind the zerker meta is… you do not get hit because you use your active defenses smart. You have blocks, invulnerability, projectile blocks, reflects, immunities, dodge, condi cleanse(though most people think it’s not needed… sigh), positioning.
This actually makes the PvE fights more interesting as you have to use the active defenses or you’ll die.
To everyone who wouldn’t notice their traits missing… What the heck are you doing in the game, mining runs or playing the harp?

No, there was heavy speculation about mainhand pistol. Then the devs said explicitly that each class would only be getting a single new weapon.
Oddly enough, there still is some speculation about a mainhand pistol. Why there still is, one can only guess.
If we can maintain the speculation long enough and foster a genuine belief we’re getting it somewhere along the line by raw fiat, then when HoT is released and the MH pistol isn’t there we can lament Anet’s failure, betrayal, and hatred for the Mesmer class.
It’s quite the shell game.
Anet does not hate mesmers, they are just clueless about every single class in game hence everybody kind of feels like the stepchild.
If you LoS bosses to a corner they still use their skills on you… Mossman is like a sitting duck or a beached whale.
Maybe the QQ zerk scene will also get somewhere, someday.
It’s well known that the bleed cap is being lifted in the expansion, increasing the value of condition builds.
So, yes, the movement to bring other stat combinations closer to berserker is making progress. It’ll be interesting to see how well power/precision/condition damage builds do in the future.
It’s kind of disappointing too. More stat diversity turns ascended gear into even more of a gold sink. At the moment I can move my ascended armor around between characters of the same armor weight without any significant issues.
Stat diversity means “make another set or fall behind”.
Sure, the condi cap thing. What happens then though? If they will be just as effective as berserker but not more effective, nobody will bother. If they will be more effective than berserker, that will break the whole game because the risk-reward ratio will be imbalanced (you can run a toughness build with condi dmg and kill stuff just as well as a glass-cannon).
The zerker meta discussion is generally about instances anyway, so if a blob of 80 people can stack bleeds on a boss to infinity is not really important.
