How’s the progress in repairing HoM ? A developer could give an approximate date to fix this problem?

Anywhere between now and infinity.

I think we should rework dungeon/fractals rewards so that there would be an NPC somewhere in LA that you could go to every day to claim your rewards (tokens, gold, some champ bags) without having to do the dungeons themselves.

This would save time for other activities like world bosses and playing with the wardrobe/dyes. It would also solve a lot of problems like: zerker meta, elitists in dungeons, stacking or not, having to learn encounters.

I’m upset with the lack of design competencies displayed. They took the easy way to nerf-town, which was certainly effective, but now there is another set of utilities useless in the game. This game already has an issue with having a lot of useless junk in it, and its only getting worse because they do everything the cheap and effective way.

Exactly this. While i certainly don’t like the way turrets are now, this whole process of balancing (designing) based on popular demand without a single iota of own ideas is not very professional.

- have turrets scale with engi amulet
- have turrets self destruct at 1500-1700 range of engi

done

They cannot do that, the metrics show that “make them take condition damage and be crittable” has been asked for more times than “scale with amulet”.

I’m not a fan of turrets but this is a really lazy solution.

You could make turrets stats scale with the engi’s amulet.
You could make it so that every turret can be present in a map (or within a certain radius) only once so that the 2nd rocket turret would destroy the first one (to prevent turret engis from stacking).
You could prevent the turrets from spawning on top of lampposts, on walls, in the air, etc….

I feel the changes are both reasonable as well as specifically ones requested in a great many post. I am unclear how giving a vast amount of posters, the solution they requested, is “lazy”.

In my opinion, conditions need to effect all objects with their damage, otherwise investment in the trait lines and the stays of condition damage itself are punished unfairly.

It’s lazy because instead of thinking themselves the devs basically balance based on what some people on the forums “requested”. This is generally a terrible idea but since arenanet has no idea how classes play, what their roles are/should be/could be, this is probably as good as it gets.

Hopefully we’ll get a balance dev someday who plays all the classes, understands them and has a vision for them. Preferably before we start to balance based on forum QQ.

Now look at anet doing exactly what the qq posts asked for, without even thinking for themselves.

Maybe the QQ zerk scene will also get somewhere, someday.

PS: Not sure what there is to discuss anyway.

damage isnt the only problem. i just specced full mantra 66002 with the maximum crit i can get with an average equipment, exotics armor and weapons and ascended rings etc. and gs/scepterpistol (jsut for the sake of being a ranged mesmer)
if the tequatl fight is somehow an average test for average players for a long enough fight with lots of movement, dodge and jump escapes and on top of it condition cleaning, hp reg etc.

I’d say that at tequatl you as a mesmer should not go full kitten – i mean full mantra – as your job is more the feedback of fingers than to try to outdps an ele on an uncrittable dragon.

Mossman WAS killed from the water, under his house, under some steps, from trees, from his roof and i’ve probably missed some fancy ideas. The point is, you cannot just stack on a boss and spam all your damage skills and hope he dies before you do… There is way more to it than that though it seems like they do nothing but.

Meanwhile glitching mossy underwater is actually really comfy, no danger of him hitting you back.

So making things easier by learning mechanics and weaknesses of bosses is as old as gaming itself while exploiting glitches has never been considered very “athletic”.

I wouldn’t be so sure of that. Anet has a tendency to get weird results based on their metrics. Then they draw conclusions that You or i would never ever dream of. Meanwhile i am buying outfits with gold>gem because they are convenient, have no glitches and can be worn on any class with no transmutation charges.

While i also like to mix and match (i must have spent days playing with the pvp locker before going into matches back when the locker was still a thing), i am not opposed to outfits.

Open world is not "challenging group content"

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

serenke.4806

Even world bosses like tequatl or the wurm are not exactly hard or challenging. The only “challenge” being organisation and to find a few people for the specific key roles in both encounters (turreteers on tequatl for example). Everybody else is literally just a dps-monkey. Sorry, but that’s just how it is.
The encounters themselves are not – by any stretch of imagination – hard or challenging.

It just takes some time (less for tequatl, more for the wurm) to organise the necessary groups. That’s not good open world game design. Not to mention the dumb “jump” mechanics employed by the wurm slaying TS communities or guilds.

Open world should remain what it is, a playground for semi-afk dragonslayer heroes and challenging content should move to instances. It won’t because anet has their own ideas but it should.

Leveling is so dry

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

serenke.4806

Hello.

You can definitely level a character to 80 in two weeks, just by running around, completing hearts and so on. Even if you don’t “grind” xp. Besides, you get tomes of experience (free levels) for the daily log on chests which makes leveling even more trivial.

If – as you said – you are running around completing hearts, you are also exploring waypoints and points of interest, which are a huge xp boost. If you would not aimlessly run around but do some of the pve dailies, they would provide you with yet another xp boost. Just doing the personal story as high as you can will give you even more levels.

But since you said you know there are a lot of ways of getting xp, i have to wonder why are you not using them?

As for being able to grind from 1-90 in wow, gw2 players can do that in a few days as well (i can level a char to 80 in as much time as it takes to double-click 61 times), but do you want to really grind your first character to 80?

I’m sick of this “just leave the pros alone to exclude the noobs” attitude.

If you want a game to have a future, you have to let new players join and have fun learning for themselves.

You have to allow for that and if you are, truly, pro (and not just trying to maximise profits) it should be no problem to do so.

If you don’t, or if you insist on trying to force them into a boring, pre-set mould, a lot will just give up and leave and the game will (eventually) die.

Previously, my position was to just leave selfish people to do what they liked, but at this point I am sick to death of the attitude that kind of acceptance has bred, so I would encourage the disruption of it.

People clearly need a little shaking up, in this game – both the devs and some of the players.

Some of you are way too smug and comfortable.

Why smug and comfortable? When did people sign any documents about explaining a dungeon to others? Sure, there are cases when you do that. There are also cases when you just want to get it done as soon as possible.

What you are proposing is not going to help the game at all. Let me tell you why.

If you have people in your party who are clearly new to a place, then you have three options, leave, kick them or stay and try to show them how to do the dungeon.

Let’s say you decide to stay and then you try to explain how to do certain things. It’s all fine but what happens if you happen to have one or two people in your team who do not listen? A fitting example would be coe p1, hacking… Sure, you can kill every elite wave but optimally you would want to do it in one go or at least using the good old 1-4 method. But what happens if someone does not listen and just hacks the security console all the time? You can still laugh it off and kill all the waves, others might just leave, or leave after p1. Then you still have Bjarl to deal with and he has to hit his head on the pillars…
So what happens then? You have a bunch of “elitists” who will think twice next time before pugging, they’ll team up with each other. You also have a bunch of casuals who had no clue what happened, why they were kicked, or why others left. They think that dungeons are hard, take long, and that the community is bad because of this behavior.

I remember back when the game came out and nobody knew how to do any dungeon. Figuring out what to do with that one-shotting guy (Lupicus) for 3 hours straight before the instance owner had to leave. I would think that the elitists perform an invaluable service already by figuring out how to clear dungeons the most efficient way (this we can modify to have fun with our classes, not necessarily copying their setups all the time).

Compared to launch, the new people now have it so much easier thanks to the “elitists”.

No, people can do what they like.

It’s their game, too.

I, personally, wouldn’t, as I don’t need the stress just to endure a criminally boring skip>stack>melee nightmare.

However, if other people want to, they can.

Unfortunately, the game then allows you to kick them, if you want, but they can still join what they like, whenever they like.

In fact, increasingly, having read some of these replies, I would encourage thick skinned people to join groups that exclude them.

Previously, I might have said “avoid them”, but at this point, I think it would be more fun if they didn’t.

Possibly, the most fun anyone can currently have in group PVE, in this game, in fact.

So basically the casual “thick skinned” people should join groups that ask for experience in certain dungeons while they know that they have no clue how to do it… just to have some “fun” at the expense of the “evil elitist dungeoneers”?

I think you have missed the point of the OP.

It might be their game too but the game only provides the platform and if the LFG says “experienced” or “zerk” or “4 cleric’s guards” and you don’t fit the description, then do not join.

Allow turrets/objects to take burn damage?

…… Meanwhile, there is nothing AFK about a turret build, nothing! ………

  • Engineer drops turrets apart on a capture point.
  • I roll in alone to cap point.
  • By the time I capture the point I am at less than 25% hp

I play a S/D thief, this is after 4 dodge rolls, 6-8 Flanking Strike evades, and 1 Withdraw. All while still actively trying to damage the turrets. But since I have to focus everything on evading them, and their HP is so insanely high for AI, I am lucky if I manage to kill just one by the time that point fully turns to my teams color.

This is all without the engineer even coming back to defend the point. I am alone with his turrets. Yeah, whining about protecting your broken build isn’t going to get you away from this highly deserved nerf-bat.

You are playing S/D, which relies on air and fire procs and you cannot crit turrets… Yeah, sure turrets are not fun to fight against, but if the engi really dropped his turret on the point, then you can cap the point and kill the turrets at the same time.

If you play something else than evadespam that is.

Will HoT fix damask?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

serenke.4806

There are no reliable ways to get cloth? I craft my damask every day (if i cannot be bothered to get the linen then i make the time-gated stuff only and worry about batch crafting damask on the weekend).

For wool, cotton and linen i use karma (buy shoes, MF, salvage, repeat). For silk you can either get champ bags from silverwastes but since i hate digging in the dirt, i usually do dungeons that give you lvl 70+ rare armor. 30 tokens per cloth headpiece, salvage… ecto and silk (sometimes you get gossamer, bleh).

Pretty sure the karma thing works with silk too, just that i never had problems acquiring it elsewhere so never tried to look for the appropriate merchants.

And to Severino, i don’t care if the majority of the population does not think of ways or looks for information how to get the goods they want and instead come complaining about it on the forums but if you do post, then get your facts straight.

you may have missed my question

how much silk can you get per hour of play without buying it?
i suppose you are saying you do it from dungeon run tokens, but that is an extremely small amount of silk per hour.
60 tokens is two pieces of gear; lets say that averages to 4 scraps. if you do a dungeon path in 4 minutes, that would be one scrap a minute, and you would need 300 minutes per day. which is 5 hours.

so whats your method?

While doing a dungeon with a level 80 char, i use roughly 75 salvages per 3 paths. A considerable percentage of that is also cloth based armor. So the token armor piece is just in addition to the drops you get while killing things.

fact is that clothes have less sources than other mats (not completely sure about this one when you count loot bags)

fact is that cloth recipes require more materials compared to other types

those two are already enough to say that the cloth is broken and it’s unfair

It may be unfair that it requires more silk, but it’s a design choice, not broken.

Nothing is broken with damask. There is no need for a fix. Just accept that you have to actually do something to get something. It does not require 3 months of heavy farming either.

only someone who don’t know anything can say this… the broken part isn’t that it is required to do something, broken part is that it takes much more time to craft cloth things than any other…

I admit, i don’t know anything because i only crafted 5 sets of ascended gear (3 of those were light). But just because cloth is more expensive to make does not mean it is broken.

And as for farming mats all day long? Not really, nope. Spend karma on wool and linen, get silk from dungeon tokens and runs or farm some silverwastes if you feel like being lazy. At the rate the game throws these mats at you, you do not need to do this all day long either.
