Since HoT will turn into a combination of Super Mario and Aion, let’s have mounts, i want to see charr ride a dolyak into battle. No kidding.
Here we go again.
If you make them available to buy with any currency from fractals, it will turn it into another dungeon token kitten.
Just think about how you feel about dungeon tokens, dungeon weapons and armor.
I’m ArenaNET’s biggest fan.. and I’m down to logins and the quickest possible dailies for my main. I did spend an hour or so wandering around Orr on the weekend (ah, sweet nostalgia) but I’ve missed the last two Wild Wednesday Tequatl – and I think I’ve at most missed one since the event was redesigned.
My angry eyes are staring at the “Xpat or death” club.
That last line is worth considering. For years (yes, actual years) the club has been crying for an expansion and now people are moaning about content drought?
Games that operate based on expansions don’t really bring any meaningful content between expansions. Did you truly expect to get an expansion AND the regular updates?
They cannot just bring back things we already had because the same people would crucify them saying that they’re lazy and bring rehashed content.
Whatever.
I bought a lot of gems using gold → gems. Bought like 2400 gems total with actual money but this was in the first year of the game. Not sure i would pay real money for gems now…
AKA
“Nobody buys these items, so we will make them rare to increase interest.”
Nobody is buying these items anymore, so we will make them rare to increase interest.
Yes. This was my intended response..
Correction accepted.
I am not sure about this, considering there is a thread dedicated to crying about the bunny ears being unavailable. Those have been removed in the previous cleaning with a similar warning.
Open world content was doomed from the beginning if you are looking for challenging content. There is no open world pvp and everyone gets their own loot. This just makes people gather the biggest group possible to go pewpew.
See… there is nothing wrong with that kind of friendly pewpew, but there should be room for instances too. They could coexist, like they have all this time, but Anet is not really doing either right. If DT and SW are testing grounds for what HoT areas will be like, then i can already foresee the complaints from BOTH sides of the argument.
If you have to use Super Mario-like jumping and gliding to get to places, that will kitten off the “wp to boss, press 1, loot” crowd because they’ll find it too much effort. It will also kitten off the dungeon community as they will find it too gimmicky and not challenging in the right way. Besides, such things will be fun for the first 3 days then it will become tedious and awkward for everyone.
That’s pretty good news. Though it will be fixed for sure.
Pleaseeee give us the bunny ears Anet, always bugs me that the one time I had to take a break from guildwars2 they released the thing I want the most and I missed it o.o
It was in the gemstore for ages, we had a warning weeks before it was removed.
- People who have 300% luck don’t seem very happy about it.
But most of them wouldn’t be happy unless they got a precursor drop at least once a week. So peoples happiness isn’t really the best measure :P
They are unhappy not because of the lack of precursors, but because they keep getting essences of luck that are useless to them now.
I’m pretty sure people who don’t want more instanced content are the same who were saying they wouldn’t notice if their traits would stop functioning. (Actually i think i’ve spotted some of the same names.)
Which makes me wonder if the real reason behind the whole “say no to instanced crap” is that instances show how much of a gap there is between people who know how to do the evil instanced content and those who like to spam 1 in open world.
On the flip side of the coin is the fact that digging up chests in the silverwastes is more rewarding than doing dungeons. Stupid game design.
You’ll probably have a hard time in HoT too. Seeing how it will be all about jumping mushrooms and gliders.
Why would I pay for helping Anet to manage their game? If anything they should pay me lol
Pay you in HKs?
With 500 APs for every kicked player.
As i understood it, this will be fixed in a spectacular way by separating cutscene animations and open world ones, whenever there is enough manpower to fix it as it is not a priority.
Now HoT will have no cutscenes but in-game dialogues and animations to go with it… Can we please have these idle animations back? Since it won’t even hurt anybody in cutscenes anymore.
… arah… …challenging content…
LOL
Since when is stealthing past everything and abusing reflects challenging in any way?
Arah is one of the places that i hate for all the skipping, but it was a good example because… wait for it… Yes, stealthing and reflecting have to be learned/timed right, you have to stack might, use blocks at the right time. Try doing ANY dungeon with 4 people who have no clue and you will see what i mean.
I will compare doing arah to putting together a model
with no instructions… you are going to have a hard time.
…but if you know what to do, there is absolutely no challenge whatsoever…. it just becomes a tedium.
There is nothing that can be considered skill in arah or any dungeon path frequently ran. Unless of course you consider remembering the trick how to faceroll the content a skill.
I see, so how is figuring out how to do it not a challenge? I thought the definition of challenge is that you have an obstacle that you overcome. Any open world encounter is roughly 0% challenging for people who run dungeons regularly. Any dungeon is an insurmountable blockade for people who afk spam 1 at world bosses.
See the pattern?
What is the point of such threads? The witcher 3 just came out, you’d expect people to play that. People will come and go and come back, that’s just how it is.
And you are asking this expecting an answer from…. ? Players? Developers?
Ugh.
Just add a +5% damage to chilled foes effect on it. Everybody will love it.
… arah… …challenging content…
LOL

Open world does not build a community any better than instances do. You can have 40 people in a map failing vinewrath everyone blaming the others or you can have 8 parties of 5 running through arah, having fun and doing actually challenging content.
There is no need to post anything anymore. They said the fix was coming along with something big… probably the HoT release (or the trait rework before that maybe).
So from Arenanet’s point of view they’ve done everything that they wanted to do and said everything they deemed necessary to say.
You won’t make any progress by posting because they will just ignore it like they do it with every other post too (except that this one will be fixed at least).
So you just assume everything they say is true?
I’m past trusting Anet in anything, i’m just saying that from their point of view they said all that there was to say.
I’m so far past trusting Anet that i have my doubts about the “fix” to this. I know the Hall of Monuments WILL be back for sure, but i am not so certain they will actually remove the ill-gained things. They might just say so officially while not doing anything just turn on the Hall.
Well then you won’t care about this either.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Hall-of-Monuments-Update/5109197If they weren’t going to remove the issues, they would have turned it on long ago. There is a time and place for pessimism, and there is a point where a person can be far too negative for no real reason.
Oh, i am not saying they would just flat out lie about it. I’m saying that they would try to fix it but in case it did not work as well as they wanted, still say that everything is fixed, yay. Also i don’t think i should list my reasons for being negative, anet has given enough reasons for negativity already.
But, but… “0ur price is abs0lutely the l0west on the market”… Gotta buy some of dat.
While i’m not sure instanced raids should be a thing (they probably won’t be anyway), i still think we would need instanced content. Arenanet thinks otherwise. Perhaps we’ll get some fractals anyhow.
My Norn Guardian:
""Aaaahhh, fire burns""
Also his very girly screams whenever I use a diving point cracks me up every time.
A shame he won’t scream ever again. It was deemed to unfitting for our heroic chars.
I actually can’t play sylvari female characters because ‘this rose has thorns, here they are!’ ¬_¬
This has got to be the most annoying line in the game. More annoying than the belcher norn guy.
Why would you want to remove these especially from humans? The only bad ones are some sylvari but luckily we’ll burn all plant people soon enough.
Do we have triple fractals dailies yet? Or better yet, daily mossman slayer, daily dredge demolisher, daily mai trin capturer.
Ranger or Warrior. Is your best bet on starting out. Once you’ve gotten a feel for the game, try out some other professions. Engi and ele have the highest learning curve. But have some of the best rewards in terms of playing.
Ele and engi have the highest learning curve?
It’s the best to 500-0 a premade – that has voted for courtyard – with a pug and then tell them to never vote for that hell-hole of a map again.
Or maybe you could take your pick of the dozens of trench coats that are available for medium armor.
Or you could pick any of the dozens of heavy leg armor that is fully covered.
You know… instead of the hyperbole maybe take a look at your wardrobe and realize that there are way more “modest” armor pieces than skimpy and then use those.
Server pride means more than anything for WvW
That is how it should be, but i don’t see that. People switch servers to the winning side, entire guilds being bought by servers, etc….

Nice read but what makes a build good is not the synergy of traits, runes, sigils, skills…
What makes a build good is how effective it is in trying to achieve its goal. If you play a lockdown mesmer, your goal is probably to lock down key people in encounters thus making it easier for your team to win those fights. If you are shatter, your single goal is to burst down targets that would be otherwise really dangerous for your team (zerky glassy classes).
In a competitive environment, every other consideration is secondary after effectiveness.
That’s the thing about condi mesmers. What are they trying to achieve? Kill people, obviously, but if they are strong in 1v1, they should pick their targets accordingly and not try to 1v1 that shoutbow or bunker guard or even d/d ele. People should know the limits of their builds.
All OP is saying is we should stop slamming Anet for “everything”. He is right about that, we should not blame Anet for everything.
He is making a really good point about all the QQ posts on forums, 99% of those posts were written by people who took a build off of metabattle (the optimal meta build of course), went into ranked and expected to “pwn” immediately. Then when they were not as crazy OP as they thought, since they had no clue, no interest and no inclination to explore why… they came to the forums and complained about certain class/skill/sigil/trait/etc… that killed them. Because obviously they cannot lose with a build from metabattle and them being good and all that.
Sure Anet can be blamed for a lot of things, even balancing based on forum QQ (which is a terrible idea btw.), but we should not blame Anet for our own behavior.
It’s pretty simple. Back when you could queue from anywhere, people did simply not enter the matches that popped if they were doing map completion (just finish this heart quickly), recruit for the guild, doing world bosses, doing wvw.
They would enter the match at the very last second or just be drawn in by the game when the timer ran out.
Sitting around in the heart of the mists is not ideal but if people would have been more responsible before, Anet might not have decided to take this step.
Just wait until everybody gets their mushroom and glider mastery going. The whole place will look like a Benny Hill version of Super Mario. That will cheer you up.
There was never any point in doing WvW because whatever you gained there did not really affect your world. (Sure, there are those WvW bonus things that just nobody really cares about.)
If you look beyond that and still want to play this game mode, the biggest problem is people’s mindset. Most match-ups are over by monday or perhaps tuesday. The side that has fallen behind by then just gives up and nobody bothers entering WvW anymore until friday. (This could be related to the first point, that outside of WvW it does not matter what the score is.)

Oh, how many super bananas, monkeys and other various minis would perish if we could target and kill them.
All of these:
Asura A: I need someone with a brilliant mind to assist me in my new project.
Asura B: What am I, chopped raptor?
Asura A: I wonder if Zojja is available. She has just the expertise I require.
Woman A: Have you seen my husband?
Woman B: You don’t wanna know.
Woman A: Drunk again. Great.
Citizen A: What does a sylvari think about?
Citizen B: I’d say no matter what the subject, they are astonished and contemplative, wondering and wild.
Citizen A: I was going to make a bad salad joke, but now I don’t feel like it.
Plus of course asura females:
“You’re dumb, you’ll die, and you’ll leave a dumb corpse.”
Many people seem to think that in conquest you don’t have to “focus to kill and defense your ally”… Which is why you are susceptible to going totally mad when solo queuing these days.
Please do not think that you don’t have to kill other players or defend your team mates. Thanks.
This looks and feels a bit like another “boo, double fractals dailies” thread but quite well disguised.
Asking for cultural themed things is nice and i can understand the OP, but while half of the charr wear a neon coloured anime hairdo and the other half look like a kitten from your backyard the point is lost.
And the norn? Ridiculous moustaches everywhere (also in neon pink or cyan). Some pitch black armoured.
Armor wise the game is frankly mostly catered to human chars, human female mostly.
This is not true. Maybe there are more items that could look good but the actual number of working combinations is quite limited. I guess it’s still “the thing” to say that females get the better armors… (Even if it is not the case)
The leaderboard is a joke ever since the grandiose december reset. Who cares that PvP players would like to see their name crawl up some ladder…
I think it is ok, because while there are 3 legendary GS skins, they are all horrible so technically there is no legendary GS while every other weapon has 1 skin.
The game is all about sylvari, charr and asura and you have to complain about god-themed back items?
The idea is good but…
Lyssa is our Patroness ( or Patronesses technically.)
true only if you are a human mesmer.
It’s not something i “have” but i am really proud that i could keep cool after having seen the Vinewrath fail in two maps in a row because people did not grasp the concept of reflecting the thrasher.
Other than that, there is nothing in GW2 that you could be proud of having which is a shame.
How ’bout… no?
FPS or the new legendary if it looks good.
