I revive downed players but dead players can WP
if you stop to revive dead players during events then you are only holding back other people and potentially screwing over the event
Please don’t generalize like that. This kind of mentality leads to people not ressing downed players either, because once those downed fools are dead, they can just wp eh?
Sure, don’t stop to res and potentially be killed yourself for a dead one, but try to get up that downed one.
I mean i read and understood what you wrote, but people do not make the distinction.
I’m going to miss ice bow as much as i miss fiery greatsword… not at all. It’s way too prominent in any instance lately.
And the benefit at the end? Not much else other than that players get a new place to explore.
This is exactly the only benefit of any new zone. Dungeons are basically a string of events (fights, skips) that lead up to a final boss and end chest. Sounds quite similar to everybody’s favourite Silverwastes. The difference is that a dungeon allows for more interesting content because the limit of 5 people in a team make it easier to work with.
Find the hidden asura lab where they can perform gene-splicing and turn you into a norncharrsura with tree leaves for hair.
I’m much more relaxed about such things since i’ve decided to just avoid things that tick me off (Frostgorge Sound champ train, EotM karma train, Claw of Jormag because of the champ farmers in the backline). If people want to do that to themselves and they enjoy it, i let them.
Queensdale is pretty nice, Kessex used to be great before they had to blow it up. Mount Maelstrom is also alright. If you mean meta farming events… SW is better than Dry Top but honestly, i would not want HoT to be all meta event maps leading up to some huge boss fight. What happened to exploring and doing things at your own pace?
It’s simple. The charr came back over a thousand years later (ask yourself how you would feel if some group of people knocked on your door saying it was their land a thousand years ago and you should get out).
They could not even do it by themselves, they had help from a human god.
They turned it into a barren, brown wasteland while their “charr homelands” were full of birds and bees and flowers and trees.
Yeah. No. Everytime i am doing something in ascalon i wish i could side with the separatists, ghosts or whoever to teach those overgrown furballs a lesson.
I think Mallyx was a bad choice for the margonite legend, they should’ve picked the Black Beast of Arrgh.
He’s kind of right though.
It’s really hard to see why you would defend the mechanic that you can attack from stealth and get blocked and then not get revealed. How is that not absolutely broken?
Odd, i thought PvE was all about running (standing) around then hit some boss for a bit then reap rewards and wp to the next place to repeat this.
If they are charr or asura, just res them up to 99% and then jump on their face for a bit.
It’s not just Snowden. Any of the starter zones are terrible for it.
They need to remove specific zone event completion from the rotation and put in area zone completion. Use Maguuma Jungle/Wastes, Kryta, etc. instead.
This.
Low-level events in specific zones is the worst implementation of a daily task I have ever seen in an MMO. It promotes spawn camping with players throwing attacks out at random in hopes that they’ll get enough tags to get event credit. Mobs die literally as soon as they appear or become vulnerable. This is the most idiotic gameplay I’ve ever seen a developer promote. Way to push how engaging and fun your game is, ANet.
That’s 99% the fault of the idiots who feel pro because they know where mobs will spawn and put down their aoe there constantly a minute before any mob even spawned just to tag everything. Same stuff happens in harathi hinterlands all the time. Actually the same thing happens everywhere in open world where there is enough eles, engis and other aoe heavy classes that can just sit on their keyboard and put down enough pain that mobs die in seconds.
A bit off-topic: When people ask for instanced content that makes you use your brain instead of rolling your face on the keyboard, it’s bad…
For some weird reason i don’t mind the broken events (aside from them being broken) because here is the thing: You don’t need to do those particular events, you need 4 of any.
If you know where event chains are, you are golden. If you don’t know for sure, the content guide can actually help out. If you are still annoyed by snowden, then don’t do the daily events there…
Its a shame really..Dwayna is my favorite god in GW lore and i wont be buying this outfit. Shame because i wanted it for a few different things(RP wise) But…with how it looks, not going to be able to use it for what i want…those..wings..are horrible…And all my characters are Charr…so..
shudders
Why would you want to wear a human god themed outfit on your charrs for RP purposes?
Condition mesmer is not a thing, it’s just a sect on the forums trying to spread the “word”.
I think the OP is about arenanet’s effort to eradicate the identity of classes but that is hardly a mesmer-only problem. Also it started a long-long time before so it’s not that new either.
The condi changes look really intriguing. The leaps are just a bad idea but maybe they had a (good?) reason to implement them.
On topic of mesmer being unable to frontload condis:
You can make 2 duelists + 1 warden or vice versa really quickly, that’s a lot of bleeding right off the bat. Of course that’s just bleeding… With the specializations and HoT i expect new opportunities to be creative.
Can we please panic? I miss that elite skill from GW1 the most… !!! !!! !!! !!! !!! !!! !!!
One thing i’ve noticed is, this outfit actually glitches with itself at the belly (on human females definitely, have to check it on others when i get home). Seems like the outfit applies the skin colour or some incoming light differently to the upper and lower body parts thus creating a quite visible line…
The Lyssa one – while terrible in GW1 – could be nice if GW2-ified.
Fix this bug already…
There is something that developers and people advocating no instances should consider. While it is probably true that more people fall into the casual category and they probably spend more real money in the gemstore than veterans who can afford gold > gem conversions… veterans are a very important part of the community, the core actually.
In my opinion it is a terrible idea to focus exclusively on either group, since if you neglect content that casuals can complete, you lose a paying customer base. But if you neglect veterans, you will lose those players who would keep your game alive when the casuals have logged off. They provide really important promotional work by building communities (guilds, ts communities), creating content (youtube videos, drawings, paintings, fan fictions). They draw people in by spreading the word how great the game is. They provide feedback that the developers can rely on because let’s be honest, sometimes they understand the game better than the devs.
Veteran players in my book are not only dungeon runners, they can be anything from open world boss event farmers (the ones carrying the press 1 and i win crowd) through dungeon speedrunners, pvpers all the way to RP-ers (yes even they are important while anet seems to think otherwise).
In a game like this where you have so many different ways to play and be a veteran, we should respect the other veterans instead of trying to make them “wisen up” and play our kind of content.
It’s not exclusively people who are playing by hand. Most of the negative comments come from people who don’t know how to play by hand and are too bad/lazy to macro it.
People think that anet is not working on things because of how they simply don’t work on a lot of things that they claim to be working on. But i guess this is too major to be not fixed. Yay.
Wasn’t it removed based on some security issues? Keyloggers able to hijack passwords and such?
I would love to have it back, but i doubt it will ever come back.
Yep, buy rares with the gold from these and then you shall get even more precursors, totally.
Two things.
Phoenix roost is a terrible name for a lighthouse. It’s not some bird’s nest, it’s a lighthouse.
Everybody and their cat will write it wrong like pheonix and it will kitten me off every time.
SAB was god awful.
It’s awful.
It’s outfit.
No money.
That’s the spirit. Stand by your principles.
Hypersexualized females? What the actual … nvm.
On one hand it’s possible they would wait with dropping this until after the WTS, on the other hand it’s pretty possible that they implement it before and give the WTS teams time to prepare. I’d prefer the latter to be honest.
Some people just have to point out that you are using macros, everybody could do that, etc…. to make themselves feel better.
Since most music that we listen to today is recorded, i have to agree with the posts here. Keep on playing music whichever way you feel like playing and know it is appreciated by more people than frowned upon by some less friendly individuals.
Indeed. Please bring the mentioned costume set to GW2. Also please consider bringing over some GW1 armor designs (mesmer obsidian, mesmer rogue/elite rogue, vabbian dervish, ancient ritualist, kurzick ritualist, etc.).
Considering it was one of the (if not the) best costumes in GW1, we should ask nicely.
Arenanet, we are asking nicely!
The instabilities should just be scrapped altogether. They werent fun and only a few were challenging but that was because they were just incredibly punishing in certain encounters (43/44 vs imbued shaman). They can do an optional perk for extra rewards system if they want to keep the instability effects. But otherwise it was a failed system.
I don’t think instabilities are a failed system, where arenanet failed was to make it desirable (rewarding) to run all levels. Imagine having something truly unique at the end of a level 39 or level 43 that can be earned there and only there. Doesn’t have to be frustrating RNG, it can be a token system but with tokens that drop only on said levels.
I wonder if i can call my revenant something with “Duplo” without being forced to name change due to copyright issues.
I run fractals/dungeons every day and generally with a full (or mostly) guild group. I used to run them with pugs before i joined my guild but i figure, if you can do things with your guild, why pug?
I have no endgame goals. My end game is to log in, do a fractals 50 every day (sometimes another, lower level too if need be), a couple of dungeons, and some pvp matches.
I wish it looked like the Dwayna’s Regalia from Guild Wars 1. Oh well.
This. 1000% this. I appreciate the new one is based on the Dervish Avatar (which means it’s still pretty cool), but when I saw “Dwayna’s Regalia” I was thinking it was time to finally buy some more gems, as the original GW1 costume of that name is far and away my favorite. Oh well, maybe some day ANet will re-name this to what it is – Avatar of Dwayna – and give me the REAL Dwayna’s Regalia… I can wish, right?
It was only “Dwayna Costume” in GW.
No, it was not. The costume had two parts, the headpiece called “dwayna’s diadem” and the outfit called “dwayna’s regalia”
I wish it looked like the Dwayna’s Regalia from Guild Wars 1. Oh well.
Agreed, would have been nice to have the GW1 version but they are intent on turning the dervish forms into outfits… Wasted opportunity there.
Captain’s log stardate: 7h15-15-b0r1n6
The content drought continues.
End log.
Hyperboles are always appreciated.
Condi PU is amazing. Just last week i had a blast tanking 2 of these with my bunker guard (i have two guards and one is still AH) without much trouble. Kudos to whoever plays this build because if i would see it being that useless, i would change.
True, you can hold your own against thieves and that’s about it.
If a PU mesmer tries to kill a bunker guard, that’s how you know they’re bad. That’s something you should never be doing, there’s better ways to use your time.
And if two at the same time try it, repeatedly? They got the idea of going PU from somewhere.
If two were to try it at the same time, repeatedly, then obviously they were both awful. I’m not sure what you’re trying to get at?
My point was and still is, there is a reason why PU is awful, has always been awful and unless somehow condi cleanses disappear, will be awful. Great for roaming in wvw, of course.
I cant always get what I want
This needs to be written in big neon letters in most of the GW2 playerbase’s bedrooms.
To call it “ill gained” implies they did something wrong.
They did do something wrong, they played the game the way it was created. Just like all the people banned for making chili peppers and forging rare cultural weapons back in the day.
Seriously though, don’t expect this company to take any blame on any issue or bug that arises in this game; it is obviously not their fault. I mean, they just made the game.
I guess “ill gained” means improperly acquired, which is true for this, even if some people were definitely innocently caught by the bug (i bet they don’t mind if this gets fixed). I’m also willing to bet that there were at least as many people who were excited to get these things when they found out it could work like that.
Like with those who forged cultural weapons when it was a well-known bug. Had they not banned them, people would have been asking rightfully, why the heck do they get away with that?
There’s lots of stuff to do…but there’s nothing you have to do.
That’s quite true and many people interpret that as a lack of content. When in fact Anet basically lets you pick your own goals and reach them at your own pace.
That’s my line of thinking precisely.
A lot of people seem to be needlessly throwing around the “lack of content” phrase without truly understanding what it means.
That always makes me laugh. Yeah achievments are content. It’s like creating one dungeon path you can complete in 10 minutes and implementing 500 achievments, like killing rats 10000x times, use your dagger 30000x times, avoid this attack. Ok cool, that’s some EXCITING content you got there.
That always makes me laugh. It’s what we’ve been doing since super mario or even before. You could speed through levels, you could collect all coins or whatevers. That’s exactly how things work.
Any content will only be new EXACTLY one time. I understand you want new toys every day because that’s how we “work” lately. Our attention span is shorter than that of a kittener spaniel’s. But it would be nice to accept that and set our demands that way.

It’s not an expansion if it does not have Cantha. Obviously.
