Why would you add an ICD to it? The shatters themselves have cooldowns and if you are burning them just for the blind, you are fighting for your life anyway.
I have noticed a lot of terrible mesmers lately. Can you guys go back to being thieves, engis or whatever because you just don’t cut it as mesmers?
The whole point of the PvE meta is to put up those sexy numbers. Those “infrequent 20k hits” you are talking about are quite common and more like 30k+. Basically by the time the condition build user is done stacking some bleeds, burning, etc., the zerker has already cleaved through the enemies and is running to the next fight.
Blinding Dissipation is quite okay as it is. Does not need an ICD, since the shatters that trigger it have relatively long cooldowns already.
I love this meta. I’ve had matches with insanely fun team fights. I played both squishy glass cannon and bunker and the team fights are intense, it feels like an actual battle again not some tanky celestials throwing tiny rocks at each other hoping one of them messes up a rotation and dies.
As long as the challenge does not mean it is challenging to organize…
I wouldn’t hold my breath though.
There is such a huge gap between the “evil meta” people and the “play how i want” crowd. Luckily our guild runs are generally fast and smooth, but i had a lot of opportunity to play with people from both ends of this spectrum.
PvE is about beating encounters. There are two ways to measure how well you are doing. The first is obviously if you can actually beat the encounter. In a game where you get to respawn/repair armor endlessly, this is not exactly a good indicator. You will succeed eventually.
The second indicator of how well you are doing is how quickly you are beating the encounters. The speed is determined by knowledge of the combat system, the tells of the boss, the use of your utilities at the right time, but i count also “support” in here since cleansing those 20 stacks of bleeding off of your party means they can do their stuff without having to worry about bleeding out.
I understand that people like certain play styles and usually a group can carry one, two, sometimes three “play how i want” players. But generally the actually good players don’t mind because they might just not even feel a difference whether you are there or not (you are probably slowing them down). So you are not putting the blame where it belongs.
I have played a lot of d/d ele in both wvw and pvp and it is fun, but i would feel a serious lack of important tools as a d/d in dungeons. Same with mesmer or guardian, whatever works in pvp/wvw is usually not good in dungeons.
If you want to see how a dungeon can be, check some of the youtube videos. See for yourself how bosses can melt and then compare to your style. I’m sure you will find that there is something beautiful and satisfying in running a dungeon as flawlessly as possible (no deaths, no wipes, no unnecessarily long fights).
I love how a thief opened the post asking for mesmer nerfs in this stylish disguise.
The devs cannot nerf the skill level of your opponents..no matter how much you cry on the forums…
Yep, let’s be in denial and pretend mesmer and ele are okay.
They are. It’s not the class, it’s the players that outplay you.
Sure, mesmer is somewhat more forgiving now and everybody is jumping on the bandwagon but just because power mesmers have a fighting chance vs. thief now, don’t take out the pitchforks and torches. (The situation is similar to when rangers got their buff and suddenly everybody was playing longbow ranger. It will calm down just like the ranger hype did.)
Eles have some insane sustain but the main problem there seems to be burning, not exactly the class itself.
There is a big misunderstanding here. The bug has been fixed within a day or so.
We are not waiting for a bug fix, we are waiting for the solution to remove the rewards from people who earned them during the period when the bug was live.
The two things are quite different. Fixing the bug was probably simple, while devising a plan to remove titles, achievement points, HoM rewards from people who have gotten it because of the bug but not from people who have gotten them properly is definitely more difficult.
They cannot make mistakes there, imagine the uproar if they remove these from someone who has actually earned the rewards.
If you fight one mesmer, that’s perfectly fine to deal with. Sure you have to respect the damage they can dish out but they are also rather squishy.
Besides, the OP is basically a badly concealed QQ post about stealth on mesmers. (I got wrecked by mesmers, nerf plz.)
Sounds like a thief who is upset that the free-kill mesmer is not a free kill anymore and he has to actually think before engaging.
step 1 go to meta builds. step 2 load in spec, step 3 compete with anyone. no skill involved anymore. GG
This is true if “anyone” is coming from the same pool of people who followed steps 1 and 2. Against those who know what they are doing and are not just unloading skills this won’t work at all.
Pino… What the heck… You can do a fractals 50 run perfectly fine in 30 minutes or so without any exploits. 3-4 hours?
And use exploits because you already killed Mossman once?
It’s also nice to see that you spotted that Purple Miku was a new player. Good job
(edited by serenke.4806)
Once you get all the weapon skins unlocked it will give you the achievement
I asked especially because i have all the skins but no collection, no anything. Good to know it is bugged.
Do not craft ascended rabid if you ever want to do dungeons on that character. If you really want to make some condition based stuff, make sinister or rampager at least. But don’t use staff or scepter, stick to sword-focus and sword-pistol.
You can use that scepter-pistol and staff weapon combo in open world and be viable with it.
Why would you ruin one of the most interesting aspects of the combat system?
what are you talking about?
condition damage have already been lowered a lot.
those with 0 condition damage already do very little condition damage per tick.take a look at burning.
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Burning
(0.155 * Condition Damage) + 131.5 damage per stack per second at Level 80so, at 0 condition damage, it deals 131.5 damage per stack per second at level 80
for burning to do 1k damage per second with 0 condition damage, at least 8 stacks of burning needs to be applied onto the burn victim.
that is working as intended.
In other words, a Guardian with 300 condi dmg (the eqvivalent of speccing down the condi dmg tree prepatch) will tick about 2100 dmg per second for a duration of maybe 15 seconds.
No, not OP at all. Not at all.
its not the guardian’s vault if the so called burned victim let the guardian stack at least 8 stacks of burning on the burned victim.
Because what are you supposed to do? The guard can perform their nasty little combo quite quickly even if they missed the first one. I know because that thing eats just about everything.
You know what is actually funny? The fact that this whole HoM mess would have never happened if they would actually test their releases. The titles and goodies were handed out only because a portion of code that gave it to new chars was left in the code when it went live. Why? No testing.
So they should basically they should test every single line of code every single time they do every single change? That is basically impossible.
The fact that it turned up after almost three years is rather unlikely, thus it would be rather illogical to test that specific part. Bugs happen, usually even with testing. There is literally nothing that can be done about that, unless you want them to never release anything ever, since if they were to test every single line after every single change they would never be done with anything.
No, but obviously they turned this thing ON at some point during coding that patch, so – unless they work in a complete mess – they should have a list of things that they changed since the last build. And immediately it is not even that illogical or impossible to go and check if that flag is still set to ON or not.
You know, similarly to how every other work of this scope is being controlled be it a software or whatever else.
It’s simple. Charr were meant to wear loincloth or just very simple armor. Now obviously you can dress up your cat, but it will look ridiculous.
How do you even unlock it?
So while guardians, elementalists, thieves can blind the heck out of everything, that is fine, but a mechanic that keeps mesmers alive in melee is suddenly game breaking. It’s also max. 4 shatters in a row.
Since they steered clear of the original idea of keeping the game aesthetically consistent, why not have blue or purple or any other skinned norn and humans? It would go really well with the neon hair colors and shiny bright eyes.
How about if everyone here donates 10 to 50 silver to OP? I’ll serve as middle man, to ensure he doesn’t run off with your donations…
That’s great idea! Community members should help each other to get better and have fun together. About your idea, I think you will be collecting cash and will keep it safe in the vault so you won’t get robbed. And after we collected enough, we can send it to the OP and make a post here with screenshot of our celebration. OMG there is no game like this and no community like gw2 community.!
Pls take me with you, I want to participate in helping OP getting back his money.
That’s awfully nice of you and i even believe it since you just wrote this in the other thread about the community being nice.
“Not really. Success driven communty heads towards elitism. Time spent together on playing is much more valuble than virtual currency or any other reward.
THis is why GW2 is great. It has only skilled players but winning is not the goal. Fun always wins.”
Something tells me that they were not really serious.
Or maybe, just maybe an issue turned up soon after that would have broken something else, so they decided to not go ahead with it?
Rather funny this. People always whine about them not testing stuff enough, but when they actually do test stuff, people whine about them not releasing stuff fast enough.
You know what is actually funny? The fact that this whole HoM mess would have never happened if they would actually test their releases. The titles and goodies were handed out only because a portion of code that gave it to new chars was left in the code when it went live. Why? No testing.
To be fair Serenke, aside from the turret at Tequatl, there’s a very slim chance that one person can make an event fail. And people not way-pointing out of boss combat, thus scaling it up, is done just as much by ‘experienced’ players.
It’s that whole mentality you’re showing that has kept me from getting into Fractals over the last years. You can read and ask all you want, but in the end experience is still king.
The example that was brought talked about open world events, not instanced content. Thus everything i said was about open world encounters, not instanced content.
For instances you have quite a lot of options. If you are new to fractals, you can do it with guildies, open an lfg stating you are new, ask friends who do it regularly if they would like to take you along. That is a completely different beast.
Today’s fail would never have happened if said person would have asked.
Asking about things you don’t know is not wrong and when people offer explanations, it builds the community even better than going in blind and failing.
Bottom line is, it’s way more beneficial for the community to succeed together and not fail because of one single person.
I disagree right there. In a massive open world event where the whole thing can fail because a single person is “learning it by doing” that one person can be prepared to take some heat.
Take everybody’s favorite Silverwastes for example (or tequatl, or triple trouble). Dozens of people are there to succeed at something and reap the rewards. Chances are they’ve been there for half an hour or more doing events to get to the breach. They are not there to fail. They will explain tactics before the fight and be helpful, but if you sit on a turret at tequatl and don’t use the 2nd skill, then people won’t pat you on the back.
By making an event fail you have basically made all their efforts null and void.
No one realizes that OP is talking about AC where the primary “issue” is increased downscaling?
I’m pretty sure people have realized that in this particular case it was the culprit, but the OP talks about the horrible, awful, tragic death of their build which is then a wider topic.
Of course, notice how i wrote “ask in their guild, ask in their party, ask in map chat”. Nobody will flame them if they ask beforehand.
Yeah…sure really friendly in pve i haven’t seen a worse rage or flaming than, when some events fail, like people’s lives depend on a bag or a yellow item, in pve because it’s first time people do them, instead of someone being helpful to them. Guild wars 2 community sucks just like every other multiplayer game the only thing you can do is disable map chat and block whenere someone whispers you.
It’s generally a good idea to inform yourself before doing something (not just in game but in everything). If someone is doing something for the first time, they should read up on it, ask in their guild, ask in their party, ask in map chat. If they don’t and then mess it up… Who was the sucky part of the community? The person who had not enough respect for others to get an idea of what to do or the others who all failed an event because of this?
It’s all about teaming up sadly. If you have a team – maybe even using voice comm – it’s all much better actually. Also the rewards are of course rather useless but playing 3-5 matches per day is rewarding enough, if you don’t take it too seriously.
I guess this is the ultimate e-sports because sport is not about big money but testing your mettle against others and perfecting yourself at something.
Agreed. I don’t even know how many times i’ve beaten someone fair and square and they survived because of this nonsense rune. I’m not using it, maybe i am gimping myself but this right there is such a low level where i won’t sink.
The community is mostly nice and friendly. There are certain cases that can bring out that dark ugly side but i found that saying “sorry, my bad” works wonders quite often. We can all be happy and hold hands and loot bad drops afterwards.
I’m actually glad that the programmer assigned to this is extremely meticulous. Makes me hopeful that the fix will be an actual one.
Also i’ve just noticed the little typo (hidden easter egg?) in Lauren’s comment about the Gods Walking Amongs Mere Morals. Wow.
I think her “t” key is broken or she is trying to tell us something.
Because you (and most people i know of) are doing it wrong. People tend to get hyped insanely easily and then their hype dies down and are immediately looking for some other source of that hyped feeling.
Whereas it is much better to build up your own little “hype” over time, so that you are more and more excited about the object of your desire the closer you get to it.
But then again, it seems to be something quickly becoming part of our culture to be overly excited about some things, just for the sake of… i don’t know… adrenaline rush?
1. If most people are doing it wrong, that means probably you are doing it wrong. The point and meaning of hype is to get excited easily.
2. Since when is it the costumers role to get him/herself hyped? Shoud I also do the advertising for the product or what?
1. Hey that lemming mentality is really nice. Everybody else seems to be enjoying the fall, let’s all jump off this cliff. But i actually did not say you should not get hyped, i said you should get hyped closer to your goal.
2. The GW2 community has always hyped itself like nothing i’ve seen before. Then later on blamed Anet for hyping their product or ideas.
All i am saying is, instead of being hyped (or wanting to be hyped) try a different approach.
Because you (and most people i know of) are doing it wrong. People tend to get hyped insanely easily and then their hype dies down and are immediately looking for some other source of that hyped feeling.

That’s my favorite item you’re talking about. Instant access to the best-looking area in the game.
I agree that solo queue should be added again. On the other hand pvp has just started to be fun again.
They bring ONE mesmer and suddenly the class needs a nerf xD? We can’t count helseth’s squad either, since the man is an amazing mesmer with or without buffs.
Reminder: oRNG (team who used to play without Mesmer at all in the past) has won ESL in last week with double Mesmer comp.
^Exactly, team with most mesmers win now, quite obvious something is wrong.
Really? When teams brought two eles, two engis or two anythings, nothing was wrong?
My disappointment was not loss of stats, but shifting more stats to gear. Why not provide a stat interface option with a limit of 300 in any one stat and a number of stat points consistent with the 30% buff to gear stats (i.e., less than the 1400 possible under old traits)?
Because the current fad in design is simplicity over functionality
Trend, more likely. More’s the pity.
You still have the functionality, if you really want to go for a specific stat combo, get that kind of gear mix. The whole “going full this but balancing it out with stats from traits” idea still works, but it is called “going full this but balancing it out with a different ring/amulet/helmet/etc.”
I jumped into a random map and beat tequatl with 8 minutes left today.
To be honest, I preferred the higher difficulty.
I never complain when content comes out that appears to be too hard. It just means folks need more time to figure the content out. People said Tequatl was nearly impossible when it was first updated! Now look at it.
The content did not come out and appeared too hard… The content was bugged to pieces. Roughly 8 minutes left was an average Tequatl before all these patches broke it apart.
Maybe so, but if you instance open world bosses they cease to be open world bosses.
While i like instanced content, i personally prefer 5-8 people in an instance, not 80-100.
Also, on topic of seesawing… The Tequatl encounter as such was never meant to be changed, the changes we had (condi cap raise, specialization system power creep, crittable one spot, symbolic avenger fiasco…) all affected the perceived difficulty but seriously, pumping hp of a boss does not equal challenging content.
Disagreed with a lot of people in the thread.
We have too many skimpy armors already, which already have a lot of variance. We instead need a higher variety of non-skimpy ones. Variety meaning actual differences that are meaningful enough in style.
Currently around 30% of overall armor are more or less skimpy, I don’t understand how is that “too many skimpy armors” already? Isn’t it skimpy armors are too little and needed to have increased variety like non skimpy armors?
Nevermind, i think the radio at the moment is actually good, please keep this radio Anet, that means MORE ARMOR SKIN FOR BOTH!
Because it is generally trendy to say: aaah female armor in video games is too skimpy!
Never mind the fact that the majority of armor sets in game are not skimpy at all.
The new and improved animation of the wings is so terrible.
“Hard mode” should not merely mean a huge health pool, that’s just terrible design easily overcome with numbers. This whole fiasco shows how open world encounters are not and never going to be “challenging group content” based on the simple fact that the developers won’t be able to balance it to account for the differences in the composition of the blob trying to complete the encounter.
There are a few roles at tequatl or triple trouble that have to be “spot on” and fulfill their purpose (turrets, defenders, condis at TT for example). The rest of the zerg is basically a bunch of dps bots.
The fights are balanced around these mechanics, and notice how few people we need to actually succeed… It’s the illusion of massive encounters, boiling down to 10-20 key people.
(edited by serenke.4806)
Come on guys. You complain about incoming nerfs when we didn’t do anything but ask for nerfs ever since the specialization patch. Of course the shining beacons of our community that asked for those nerfs haven’t commented here yet.
To be fair, the original clipping was not worse than other clipping in game. I am not sure why it had to be fixed.
(edited by serenke.4806)
People shouldn’t have even started selling dungeons. If someone is unable to complete a certain dungeon, they should just not get the rewards from it.
