Is This Game Worth Playing Again?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: serenke.4806

serenke.4806

If you stopped playing at around level 60 then you basically never experienced the game the way you were supposed to once level 80. I know the game starts on level 1 but it’s true you have a different feeling once clad in gear of your choice with all the traits and excelling at stuff you like doing (WvW, dungeons, etc.)

So i would say you missed essentially everything. Personally i would say the game is worth trying (as technically i would not call your coming back a comeback).

  • I think every legendary greatsword is a big, ugly bunch of pixels.
  • I have one of each race but i play only humans because of GW1.
  • When in Ascalon i always feel like i would rather join the ghosts and burn all the charr.
  • When i see that my team in pvp is running around aimlessly i still try to give advice and even say “please” and i find it noteworthy whenever that team actually listens and we win (because 9 out of 10 they think i am raging).
  • Since the megaservers i am not doing the pre-events for the Shadow Behemoth maybe because previously i’ve done most of the pre-events by myself and nobody in the zerg waiting for the behemoth came to do them.

It’s interesting that you guys claim you don’t care about APs, just the “daily completion”… but daily completion is not needed for anything unless you want the APs. You get the rewards for just logging in. Takes a total of 2 minutes maybe (start game, log in, click chest, log out).

Why on Earth would you want to do the daily completion if not for the APs? And in that case it’s far easier and faster to get the 10 points now than it used to be.

Why no ordinary Dungeons in PVE daily?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: serenke.4806

serenke.4806

Because ordinary dungeons are boring and those who do them, do them for gold anyway. Those who don’t do them will just continue to skip them doesn’t matter what.

I agree that the daily fractals level ranges need adjusting because it should be 41-50 all the time not 1-10 so i could get my daily naturally from doing my fractals 50 daily.

Impact, what impact? Who is this guy anyway?

Because a bunch of people follow them, so when ever they stream Gw2 it gets bumped to the front page of twitch; this + the thousands of people following them is good publicity for the game.

(Note: I never heard of nay of these guys before this, nor do I follow them)

Oh i understand that much. Publicity is good but my point was that his “impact” is like a tiny rock thrown into the Pacific. Some nice ripples where it hits the surface but then it sinks anyway.

Sorry but how does the fact that the list was leaked on the chinese website mean that Anet is focusing on China?

On topic of the shadow weapon skins, they might be based on the GW1 shadow weapons in which case they could look good.

Those are flame legion slaves with spikes on their shoulders. Nope, it’s not armor, they actually have 3 horn-like spikes on each shoulder. Probably some magic experiment that mutate them or something.

My charr do not have spikes on their shoulders. They are supposed to walk upright.

“Bonwor Fierceblade is a childhood friend and loyal member of Pyre Fierceshot’s warband. Like Pyre, he is hateful of the shaman caste.” Bonwor and Pyre were not flame legion slaves… At least they were truly kitten charr, unlike these weaklings we have now.

On the other hand fur burns the same way, regardless of how said beasts walk.

That is exactly the thing. If you know it could take between “X” and “Y” and you know for sure you don’t have “Y” time then don’t simply don’t start doing it.

It’s not like you cannot estimate it before (unless you pug, but then you cannot estimate anything).

No, fractals aren’t too long. If you can’t stomach them, maybe you should do other content instead.

If you have done fractals before and know the “worst case scenario” of how long it could take, how hard is it to simply decide not to go into the place?

You know that it could take over an hour, so if you don’t have that time, don’t start it. We have threads such as these and people are still upset that NPE treats them like babies…

But GW2’s current combat design for most professions is just to more-or-less hit everything as it comes off cooldown, maybe keeping a few up your sleeve for emergencies.

That’s really sad if you play that way.

It’s called “New” Player Experience for a reason. If you don’t take the few hours to level up and get to know what skill does what, how do you expect to PvP or WvW? What kind of fun would you be having while being destroyed by people who played the game for thousands of hours before?

With the matchmaking being as it is right now, you could run whatever and still be effective. You get matched up against people who have never seen a pvp match before and are running with default builds or no traits equipped.
When that happens, you start thinking “oh, this build totally works, wooo!”…
But yeah, everything works of course.

Bring back PvP is all I can say, GW1 PvP, where you actually had to you know… player verse player, where creativity, team composition, communication, and skill mattered.

This is very misleading. Which part of GW1 PvP are you referring to? JQ? FA? GvG? Or do those not count as GW1 PvP? Because each of those modes had important NPC aspects… you know.

Are you serious about “creativity, team composition, communication and skill” not mattering in GW2 PvP? Please play a few games with a random bunch of people with a bad composition, bad builds, no communication against a team that is built up with certain roles, with the right builds for those roles in mind, and flawless communication. I’m curious what the result would be.

I hope it won’t be useful. Putting shield on a mesmer is the stupidest thing Anet ever came up with. Another proof that they have no clue what the class is. I guess the whole mesmer thing was just added to shut the GW1 players up (they’d have rioted if no mesmer was added to GW2). Maybe the devs who created the class are gone by now.

Pretty much SCREAMS mesmer, but because of this it won’t be unique or very original to use.

The only thing this screams is Starwars: The Phantom Menace, Jar Jar Binks, and The Battle of Naboo.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=5qZJ85MdS-g#t=245

I’d avoid the association myself.

On the positive side, “Tormented” is the perfect name considering the association and the millions of fan voices that suddenly cried out when Jar Jar Binks debuted.

Actually it screams GW1 since this was one of the most widely used tormented weapons.

Maybe they could remove some rarely used traits and give them a katyusha rocket turret for more burst. Or a high caliber MG turret with armor piercing rounds to have better damage against heavily armored targets like guards and warriors. And a missile defence laser turret to offer protection against longbow ranger rapid fire.

serenke.4806

Oh, i’ve read it but no, the game has enough gold sinks as it is.
The thing is, you don’t need to do dungeons (which seems to be the one thing you dislike) to get gold. Just because dungeons are a good and fairly reliable source of income does not mean you cannot accumulate gold by doing other things you like.

Sure, it will take more time maybe, but remember that buying/selling on the tp is still the best gold-making procedure even though i personally find that boring.

Just play what you enjoy playing and have fun while getting gold and let dungeon runners have their fun and gold.

I’ve noticed this pattern that people hate on human NPCs because it’s so trendy and when you ask what the problem is, they bring up some whacky explanations about bad writing and whatnot.

They don’t get enough focus to be fleshed out but honestly, i bet 9 out of 10 players never read the few lines in the story anyway. I kept hearing about “oh my, wall of text BORING” during missions where you had to read 3-4 lines of text… Most just click on the cute little icon to go through dialogues as fast as possible.

As with every expansion to every game, people will rush through it, find the optimal ways to do encounters, come up with the best builds for the new specializations and class balance and then we’ll have the same “we need an expansion”, “we need new content” posts on the forums.

This will take anywhere between 1 and 2 months i guess.

Matchmaking apparently tries to balance the premade vs. randoms issue by teaming up randoms that have higher MMR than the premades. The whole system is flawed to the max though because if you see 2-3 people with legendary champion wasting time with the animal or capping ferocity, there is something truly wrong.

Not sure where you were during the 24 hours it was on the gemstore, but it had a “limited” and “time remaining:” tag which showed clearly how much time you had to buy them.

Now since these will come back to the store, you did not miss anything. Also, if now you don’t want them because others say something about them, you actually didn’t want them in the first place i suppose.

Mistlock instabilities are a really good idea but they should add instability-specific rewards.

These would be the usual unique skins or titles which you could obtain only by doing a certain instability (doing lvl 39 a set amount of times for example could give the “Maniac” title or Horrick’s cannon as a rifle skin).

Well, you actually did tell them to use a different class in PvE. Why?

PvP is unbalanced and here's why.

in PvP

Posted by: serenke.4806

serenke.4806

There isn’t enough variety. Each class has 2, maybe 3 builds that people are running (aside from the occasional self-made weird build). You just have to have a lot of experience spotting/knowing these builds to better counter them.

As for conditions being OP, sure they can be but then again, if you run onto a point as for example a longbow ranger or shatter mesmer and expect to survive in let’s say necro aoe that’s quite optimistic. You have to know which fights to pick and how to fight them.

You picked engineer as an example of a class with few cons… well yes, engi is the one class that is generally quite good at everything.

I agree, Arenanet needs to balance pvp more often, 6 months waiting for a patch is too long.

It happens when the downed person was knocked back, or otherwise teleported right before getting downed. The servers and the clients have different information about the downed person’s location. So you might see the stomp prompt come up, even the stomp animation but it won’t work because you are stomping thin air.

I guess the best thing you can do is to target them and ranged autoattack them as if you are using targeted skills, you could be targeting the wrong area.

The New Dailies -- Feedback welcome

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: serenke.4806

serenke.4806

The problem is that people don’t know the areas. Most just go into a zone and ask in map chat where events are instead of knowing exactly where they are likely to find events.

Then everybody flocks to the same wp, everybody is afraid of not being able to tag mobs so they just spam aoe like crazy thus actually making it hard to tag those mobs.

What you could do is, have an approximate idea where events take place and just do them yourself without the blob of automatons spamming aoe all over the place.

Or just don’t do them, it’s not like you need to do them after all.

I am still wondering why it does not break anybody’s immersion when they watch the “eternal alchemy” cutscene while transformed to a quaggan. Or why it’s ok that a princess doll is giggling when Caithe kills Wynne.

Why do so many in this thread care about how other people look? Aside from the obvious five wings blocking the view of the boss in dungeons argument everything else is about how OTHERS will look with the wings.

Why do you care if there are 1000 people running around with this? Also, it appears that you actually want the wings – for your own chars – as long as others cannot get them. Special snowflakes…

Why do you care how others think about this then ? Obviously i don’t wanna look the same as everyone else…was there really a need to explain this ….. ? With a game where you can make so many adjustment to how you can look and how you can differ yourself from others,it’d be strange for people to make all look a likes. And seeing 1000 people with the same items will be breaking immersion for me.Indeed,im a special snowflake

In that case you have the option to not use the things that the other 1000 people are using. So don’t use the wings and feel special. That was my point, many here want the wings because they find them great but don’t want others to use them as well, since that would make them less unique.
