It’s all good but I think there are basically 4 problems :
1) Most people want the easy win, that’s why we have SFR and BG/JQ(NA) with a lot more coverage than any server.
2) Seasons that rewards these server to stack even more.
3) A lot of people complain about the same matchups over and over and complain when they face a new and more populated server.
4) The ppt system of 24h gives the server with more coverage a big advantage
Solutions ?
1) Is there a solution ? the only solution I see is to make lower tier server more appealing.
2) Speaking of EU, first season Anet gave free transfers to every Medium populated server, PS was 3rd and medium populated and with the Anet promise to give a better rewards for gold league servers a lot of people jumped in and destroyed the server.
This is what you must avoid, season are cool ? no, but if you must do them at least give the same rewards to every server.
3) People don’t like to be matched with the same server over and over but do they know that every RvR game does that ? look at this week MU and tell me you enjoy it more than the one of last week ? servers should be matched against the most equal servers
4) One solution might be to re evaluate the concept of PPT, some time ago people have suggested to make only 3/4 time frames that give points from objective, points from stomps should be available 24/7
These time frames could be (for EU GMT+0) 19.00-23.00 / 03.00-07.00 / 11.00-15.00, the rest of the time it should be invested in securing keeps/towers and preparing for the next time frame. In this way a server with lower coverage has still a chance to compete against a more populated server.
but once they add another game more, or for general wvw roaming these balance is toxic and vastly overpowered.
If LB ranger are OP what about perplexity engineer, PU mesmer, perplexity thief, fearmancer and all those condi bunker specs ?
I sometimes play a fearmance with signet of spike in 1v1 and people die in few seconds, should we nerf necro ? I mean, it has best Hp in game, many sources of fear, death shroud, it can cast more condition than most classes can clean, there’s no counterplay, it’s OP.
They werent a problem because the damage was rather justified for the range and amount of defensive measures the longbow delivered. All it needed was a slight channel reduction and thats it. Along with the trait changes and signet changes this made it vastly overpowered.
And yes, rangers currently have the highest burst, at the biggest range with a very short cooldown, furthermore many flat % damage increase modifiers, on demand quickness, stability and a 25% damage increase from signets if they wish to, in any gamemode but PVE their burst it by far the most reliable, constistend and safest to use. These are no exaggerations, these are facts. Look at the base damage, look at the modifiers, look at the uptimes, look at the general damage increase via traits and skills.
There is currently no counter option for necromancers against any halfway decent ranger. Regardless of condi or power necro. Stop bullkittenting, youre obviously a ranger player.

WvW has never been and never will be about skill and coordination, it’s all about numbers and coverage, a good guild can kill 10 times the same zerg but in the end the server who has more coverage will still win.

Since the balance update I’m running trapper ranger with the runes of trapper and have no problem against LB ranger, I usually stealth as soon as I see one, then immob —> burst them down, usually they use all theyr utilities/healing skill to survive, most of them stealth and try the Point blank shot -->RF but I still have all my dodges and he has his healing skill on cd.
Nice advice for fighting against awful Rangers that do the exact same ‘efficient’ skill rotation for the sake of efficiency, not skill, which gets them killed 9/10 times. A Good Ranger does not do that because most of that Signet of the Wild will be wasted, if a good ranger chooses to take that over a more useful skill. A good ranger will also not accidentally use that rapid fire just after you go into stealth, they’ll wait for you to get out of it, some switch to GS, then use counterattack (for some reason, it works every time for me. combine with signet of the hunt for even more awesome results!).
Counting the seconds between skill uses also doesn’t work, because, as you said, bad rangers use it whenever its off cool down. A good Ranger will not do that, and waste their attack.
So, let me change the question since you are describing the tactics of a very poor ranger to me right now. How does a ‘good thief’ know when a ‘good ranger’ is about to use rapid fire? Something tells me the answer still involves fortune telling of some sort.

If only I had not already stealthed and thought I was safe….Or maybe I could just be an elementalist and get unlimited dodges….But sigh I get 2…Then the ranger gets to stealth and my rapid fire ….oh yea I have nothing that hits him in stealth….other than AOE….no direct stabs or shots….
Every skill that has been “activated” before you stealth will hit you, not only rapid fire/kill shot/lightning surge/ecc.. but also a normal autoattack.
You can also see the Revealed debuff on you, so don’t stealth

Stealth is 3s for both traps and LB, flame/viper/spike/frost traps have respectively 12/16/20/24 seconds cd, lb traited has 9.5s cd so tecnically is possible to achieve perma stealth but then what ? pet alone cannot kill players.
Most LB rangers are new to it and really need to learn how to play properly, beside posting this on forum will do you no good, those people don’t use forums, they are casual players.
So.. to say you lost 80% of your health instantly to traps (which would have to be at least 12k damage on an engineer) is completely impossible.

Engi has base 15k hp, if you stand on all 3 traps for theyr full duration you can only lose around 6k damages, 7k if all traps crit, that’s not even half health.
so :
a) you had a lag spike, the ranger condi bomb you with more than just traps and you didn’t dodge even once, 3 traps + auto attacks + pet + bonefire + entangle + weapon swap can deal more than 10k.
b) there where other people attacking you.

1. You are talking about people who like doing achievements right ? there are achievements in WvW from the beginning, the toxic ones are known, if you where around the first 2 seasons you would also, few examples :

- Wasting supplys to repair a wall being trebbed draining the supplys and making difficult to defend the tower/keep

What is the reason for that mechanic?
The purpose of this mechanic has always been to mitigate spawn camping, kill trading, and as an added benefit, it also discourages botting.
The threshold of time before a player is worth WXP (and now also XP/Loot) has not changed, and is low enough that it is almost always the case that a player’s death will award WXP and loot in the time it takes for them to run from a portal keep to a nearby objective.
Spawn camping : every spawn has always 3 exits and some of them have camps very close, yesterday I killed a guy in north camp and gave me nothing, this is not correct, also a mesmer portal can port a lot of people inside a garri in no time, if I die a loose my stacks but I cannot gain them back by killing people ? that happened too many times in the past days, very wrong.
Kill trading : why would anyone waste time to kill trade when they can join a karma train and get 100 times more loot/wxp ? are you still against GvGs ?

and 80% health only by traps is if u rly just camp for 4 s on those traps everytime they go up .
after u saw the first traps going up, u can see all other further traps the ranger places.

I am sure pro players like you have enough time to make coffie in that loooooong window:-P Its wasnt 4s it was almost instant spike never saw that before and I am sure there wasnt any delay I have very good reactions for that it was like spike traps in super adventure box – insta pop up. and many skills are 0.5 – 0.75 s cast if not lower that u need to dodge..
eviscerate is most likely 0.5 s
skull crack is 0.5s
signet of instawi…spite is 0.75s
phoenix of an s/x ele is 0 .25 s
etc..
if u dont dodge some of these its instantly a lost fight in most cases (skullcrack u can still make up for it w a stunbreak)
and u can clean condis, especially as necro (staff 4, dagger 4, hell even ur dam heal)
neverthless i am pretty sure u r overdoing it, cause traps cant take 80% of ur health instantly. even if u camp inside of em.

conditions ignore toughness…
burn trap does 1 s burn per pulse only , so the burn wont kill u. 1.5s if taken condition duration runes+ traits, but the 0.5 s wont proc cause burn procs just each second.

It wouldn’t be a trap if it was visible, it’s a stratagem for catching or tricking an unwary person.
I can argue same with mines..
Mines can be manually detonated, while traps don’t have any such backup plan.
And? Target still must be in range to get damage witch is SMALLER then traps.
The explosion radius is the same of the effective radius of traps, the only difference is that engi can use mines effectively by spending only 2 points while ranger needs to spend 6 points to make traps effective.
Also mines are more powerfull than traps, you can trigger them manually and have knockback and blast finisher.
It wouldn’t be a trap if it was visible, it’s a stratagem for catching or tricking an unwary person.

GH-PS-FSP-AG are the best option if you like to roam and still have the option to follow the zerg.
Roaming is the opposite of close quarters combat
most of the time you will be in the open field.
But why do you use Dire instead of Rabid ? you already invested 6 points into skirmishing and been using sharpened edges, why not building enough crit chance to make it really usefull ?
Also with 0 healing power why do you chose oakheart slave over off-hand training since you have 2 off-hand weapons ? the radious of bonfire it’s very small when untrained.

Because you gaining 1 point or maybe 3 from stomp will change the course of the matchup right ? LOL
Overall :
1) Warrior, WvW great in roaming and zerging, easy to master, PvP great.
2) Elementalist, WvW great roaming and zerging, medium difficulty, PvP great.
3) Guardian, WvW great zerging / good roaming, easy to master, PvP great.
4) Necro, WvW grat zerging and roaming, easy to master, PvP good
5) Mesmer, WvW good zerging / great roaming, medium difficulty, PvP good
6) Ranger, WvW mediocre zerging / great roaming, easy to master, PvP mediocre.
7) Engineer, WvW bad zerging / great roaming, medium difficulty, PvP good.
8) Thief, WvW bad zerging / great roaming, medium difficulty, PvP mediocre.
Warrior is still the best option, every profession is easy/medium in general, there are some spec that might be difficult to master like Shatter mesmer but I haven’t considered them.
I think Anet should improve Thief in general, and improve Engi/Ranger/Mesmer for WvW zerging.

Its quite the opposite actually, bring heavy CONDITIONS.Something you should consider before calling noobs people i guess.
Bad suggestion to turn off autoattack and bring more condi cleanse ? do you even know what PU mesmer does ? mesmer has very few conditions, he relies on confusion and torment to take down players.
I used to play PU mesmer for many months and people would just suicide with 18 tacks of confusion and 5 stacks of torment.
If you bring heavy conditions you will just die faster, mesmer has arcane thievery and all the conditions you put on them will be just cleansed or turned beack to you, when I face a heavy condi spec like necro or engi I just use arcane thievery after theyr condi bomb, easy win.
If you need some practice you can go OS and play against the spec you have more problem with.
PU mesmer is OP 1vs1 against noobs, turn off auto attack, bring some condi cleanse and they cannot kill you, they are also incredibly slow.

Yes a small group could prevent a bigger one to capture keeps/garry, but also a zerg could do it making the fight last hours, this change will make scouting and defending more important.
I logged on to see how ridiculous it became on my 80 Ranger and man, this is kind of crazy. I couldn’t stop laughing whenever I did Rapid Fire, and no matter how much I want it to stay I know it shouldn’t stay the same. If they don’t fix this by the time the WvW Tournament starts we’re going to see a lot more angry posters and WAY more Rangers on the field.

Yup the damage they can do from 1500 range is just silly. Also its way to easy for rangers to get there burst off, like seriously press 2 and watch things die +the short cd its not right. 1v1 is not the issue its in group setting with multiple rangers. Very easy to focus down target b4 they even reach the ranger.
Zerker thiefs are alot easier to deal with if they want to do any real damage they have to get in melee range. In alot of team fights there is so much cluster kitten aoe all over the place the thief really have to think and position himself well or its gg. The ranger just finds and nice play to camp spams auto and rf.
but..
The damage they do is the same as it was prepatch…Just faster and easier to dodge.
Nothing has changed on the damage coefficient.
So now to the next question.
Are people upset because they have to pay attention to a class now?I will clarify then, the increased dps output from a zerker lb ranger is to much. Esp when you consider the range and effort required from the ranger.
The dps hasn’t changed, it’s only faster now, nothing wrong with rapid fire or LB ranger.
It takes the same effort to play LB ranger than most other specs, the range is not even a problem when most classes have gap closers.
You just need to learn how to counter it, like we all had to learn how to counter thiefs/warriors/mesmers

If you knew anything about balance then you would know that you don’t have a ranged burst that powerful – it makes any other melee burst in the game look like a job. Fresh air elementalist is even worse than ranger longbow because there isn’t counterplay to it. You just don’t have ranged attacks this powerful in a competitive game – but that’s why this game isn’t competitive, clearly.

none of these abilities has a 1500y range, using SR to engage a fight is super selfish + ranger can easily wait for it run around a bit, use GS#4 or even Sos .
And well really, you must be terrible to list dagger#2 here, once the thief even comes in the range to attack you , your LB#2 will have him killed, not to mention you can CC him with your pet and once he is in range just knoch him back using LB#4.

Ignoring the fact that the Ranger has the advantage of…well…RANGE, it certainly isn’t balanced in the least.
You know what melee glass cannons have as a setback to their squishiness? Having to close the gap.
So tell me, what does this new Cheese build have as a setback? It certainly isn’t long windup animations like Warrior skills. It sure isn’t condition stacking. And it sure isn’t defensive issues or the ability to “miss” your target through bad positioning like melee classes can. So, what’s the trade off?
Hate to say it, but the Ranger class has become more cheesy than Thief or Warrior ever was. Now they have a mobile/ranged Hundred Blades pre-nerf, and a stealth field. Just….lol
You are ignoring every skill the other classes have other than dodges lol, no one is forcing you to stay still and suck all the damages at 1500+ range.
Warrior has endure pain and gap closer
Thief has gap closer, stealth, blind
Guardian has gap closer, refelction, retaliation
Mesmer has gap closer, stealth, reflection
Ele has gap closer, invulnerable, blocks

Every classes can counter LB ranger very easly, the only problem is that we are not used to fear the LB ranger, now learn how to counter it and stop QQing for nothing.
Why didnt they tell us these runes were coming??? Gah! I just crafted up some nice ascended weapons too, now I have to change my build again for these runes. Trapper always was my favorite build but surviving wvw was difficult.
I don’t think you need ascended armor/weapons for condi trapper, the difference is too small to waste money and time on that.
Before spending money with the build I posted it’s better to wait for some expert ^^, I took inspiration from the meta trap build for pvp so it might need some customization.
I’m using the torch for the extra fire damage considering that I have no power, but also dagger should do well with its extra dodge.
I was think of frost trap, I don’t know what happen to stealth if the enemy triggers it.
that should do less damage but better survival.
Hey paxi, I was also theory crafting a trapper ranger with the new runes but mine it’s a bit different :
1 ) I decided to invest more into Precision considering we already have +300 precision from traits and a) it synergise with sharpened edges and some nice sigils like earth b) fury every weapon swap.
2) Your build has very little condi cleanse, against a condi spec you might have some serious problems
3) I used RaO because I don’t have any stunbreaks ( unless the super speed from runes breaks stun).
4) You have very little armor.
I also like not to waste any money making a trapper ranger, maybe some expert will help us

Shouts really need some buffs, Raise you hand if you ever used search and rescue lol, or guard before nature voice buff, and even then it’s simply underwhelming.

What would stop a guild from chosing the most likely to win server ? A guild could also chose the servers they are against in order to sabotage them wasting supplys and spying.
People are asking why since the first league was announced, wvw is a competitive mode but it’s also ment to be unbalanced and unfair, it’s how anet want things to be.
Not exactly. You’re taking personal offense at the potential unfairness, as if ANet has done something terribly wrong to its players by creating WvWvW as a 3-way battle. That’s not true.
If you don’t enjoy some measure of chaos, then WvW is not for you.
Some Devs already stated that WvW is not ment to be fair or balanced.
I think anet wants to push pvers to play in WvW giving them shiny rewards and make them pay to transfer to overstacked server in order to alieanate the WvW population, driving them to quit or go sPvP.
No. ANet should not want WvW players to quit the game. That’s a silly assertion. Any player loss is lost potential revenue.
Encouraging PvE players into WvW is the opposite of that. That is a strategy of giving the players an on-going goal, to keep them involved longer.
The people that leave GW2 from the WvW population are in two categories:
1) WvW focused players, for which that game has grown stale because everything has a limited shelf-life
2) GvG focused players that fit into #1 and are also upset that their favorite play-style does not get validation from ANetNeither of those qualify for claiming that ANet pushes them away.

It doesn’t go against any rules, wvw is not a serious competitive mode – in a 3 way war you can’t expect thing to be fair.

Again why host a tournament for a unfair, not serious mode. Just seems like it would cause problems such as this.
People are asking why since the first league was announced, wvw is a competitive mode but it’s also ment to be unbalanced and unfair, it’s how anet want things to be.
I think anet wants to push pvers to play in WvW giving them shiny rewards and make them pay to transfer to overstacked server in order to alieanate the WvW population, driving them to quit or go sPvP.
