Savage leap lol lol you need target to use it when in fight and there is no other target that enemy who is near you its automatic use leap to him.
Savage leap can be used to escape if you have nobody selected. Just sayin’
And remember to disable autotargeting/ melee attack assist Furiousbeard lol ( he’s probably a newbie ).
I’ve changed few things on the build and made some tests on the ground
I’ve tested it with +25 stacks of corruption + guard leech
Pros :
+ deadly condi spam – around 3’00/3’500 dmg x second if the target is moving – around 2’500/3’000 dmg if the target is not moving -( bleed/poison/burning/torment )
+ The weapon damage is also preatty strong when it crits ( 60% )
+ Goo swiftness uptime
+ Very strong against stealth
+ If the enemy try to escape is dead
Cons :
- Low regen
- Poor against bursts, I won very few 1vs1 agains DD thiefs with this build
- Against confusion builds is lacking condi removals to stack enough conditions with auto attack
I need to test it again this WE to be sure its really viable, but first impression is good
In most cases I can keep 2/3 stacks of torment, 10+ stacks of bleed trough the whole fight – and when I manage to use bonfire correctly it hurts a lot,
Ruins are great for solo/duo roaming, in t1 you can expect to find many players roaming around ruins/camps, from the solo roamer to 5/6 ppl.
And since the pvers are no longer farming it you can find nice roamers to fight against ( pvers where just bad
)
Anet shouldn’t give anything for capping ruins ( remember what happened with S1 achievements ? ), theres no need for it, we already have sentrys/camps/dolyaks inside or around the ruin area.
Imo they should add more things like ruins, maybe in the upper part of the bls

the best way to balance a class is give a rating to a few areas. Rate their total dmg output between all enemies, rate their buffs and fields for allies, rate their heals and dmg mitigation for allies, rate their defense so they can apply the 3 afformentioned areas.
once you rate these areas then average the out for a total class score. now im sure you will all do yours differently but wont be too far from the same.
score it from 0-100 for each sectionGuardian

Dmg mitigation (all allies): 85/100
Survival (armor/hp etc): 90/100THIEF

- This is of course counting only group play and not 1 v 1 as i have yet to see a relevant 1v1 part of the game that has any “consequence” to it, which means if you kill 1v1 roamer it helps team/guild/world server……. in spvp/tpvp it can kinda help but usually its group play. 8 people per team and only a few nodes to capture… no reason for 1v1 really.

Even if there is no trinity it doesnt mean that there are no roles – Thief imo has a dps role inside a group and its very good at it, while a staff ele/guardian has a more a cc/support role.
Both are needed in every group fights, I always prefer to have at least 1 of both in my team
team fights. WRONG. thief is on e ofthe 2 worst in teams….. if u look at total dmg in medium to large fightsm ixed with team productivity/skills used to help team or heals and buffs………. thief is last or tied for it. even with venom share bc hes used only once in 36-45 seconds then just auto attacking or dropping poison fields.
Thief is a dps class not a support one, the only thing thief needs to do is burst/stealth imo, if you want to support your team change class.

Thief one of the most bugges profession ? looks like you never played Ranger or Engi, those 2 classes have many game breaking bugs.
A well played mesmer is stronger than most profession in 1vs1, but thief is still one of the most powerfull classes in small team fights,
I like to roam with a guild mate ( me bunker ele, he dd thief ), I usually do the bait and while foes are focused on me he kills them one by one with little help from me ( some KD/burst skill)
It looks like you are used to play the OP thief and now that it has been toned down you actually need to L2P.
And since the meta of your build is quite condi-oriented, I’d go for RaO (as said: might = more dmg (DPS + condi) (also, it gives stability and swiftness, so it can also aid in getting away when outnumbered)
You right, RaO also improve leap which can give me even more chance to escape, plus it gives stability, so I will not be smashed down while I try to leap

the source of ur torment have cd too long for the condition to stack effectively.
How about this :
I should be able to apply 15,6 seconds of toment every 7/10 seconds, and even if foe has -40% condi duration I can still apply 9.4s.
I can also apply 2 stacks of toment on heal.
Q: Torment from sigil stacks in duration or intensity ? and with the runes ?
Unfortunately I cannot check the build link (at work), but I can give you some feedback..
Concerning your crit chance question: The moment that the crit chance is 60% or more, you’ll see your 30% sigils trigger enough, trust me..
2/3 of your shots are crits, 1/3 of thos will trigger sigil —> 2/9 of your shots trigger
_(I also use food that gives 66% chance to steal life on hit --> 2/3 * 2/3 = 4/9 of my shots will steal life)_However, I’m a bit shocked to see Entangle here? The point of torment is to keep the player moving, so that the dmg ticks nicely. Entangling them won’t help your cause there I’m afraid.. Take RaO instead for the extra burst? (might gives condi dmg as well)
Maybe 60% crit is more than enough, I coul use some different trinkets to boost armor/healing power or condi dmg, it could be better.
And I used entangle just because I think its very powerful in some schenarios.

I need some toughts on a tormenting build I’ve created for WvW roaming, but im not sure it will work.
How it should work ?
1. The base tactic here is simple, keep apply pressure to foes with torment/bleed/Auto attacks
2. Base crit chanche is only 49%, but by swapping weapon and moa skill I can get perma fury which will give me 69% crit. chanche.
- Is 69% enough considering that the sigil of toment triggers with 30% chanche ?
3. I should be able to apply 12.4secs of torment every 9.5 seconds.
4. The build is kind of tanky with enough regen to be able to survive bursts.
5. If the foe has perplexity runes it’s game over for this build.
6. If the foe run around he gets damage from torment, if he stays stationary the per can attack more often.
7. Burst, I should be able to burst foes down when they reach a low hp, I think a combo Entangle —> Bonfire --> 1111 should be anough, mybe with some poison.
What do you guys think ?
Why are people still complaining about perplexity runes? It has a decent length ICD now. It requires skilled timing to use them to their full potential. I don’t see how this is still an issue.
It doesn’t require skill to interrupt autoattacks lol, and as long as those runes are not in sPvP it means they are broken.
Or maybe you where talking about the 8s icd ? the skilled players can also count down to 10 XD…
I would love to see more GW1 skills like :
1)Predator Bond – Shout, gain health whenever your pet makes a successful attack ( 10s-icd 60+s)
2)Serpent’s quickness – Elite Survival, your skill recharge 33% faster ( 20s-icd 120s )
3)Throw dirt – Survival, inflicts AoE blindness ( 3s-icd 10s )
4) Frozen soil – Spirit, foes cannot activate resurrection skills ( 60s-icd 20s )

Some people have reading problems, or rage problem, or both :/…
When roaming with my ranger I can expect to enjoy fights against any class, sometimes I win and sometimes I lose.
But some build are just lame, a fight against Engi/Mesmer with perplexity runes or a perma stealth thief is just boring.
Perplexity : fight starts, 8/10 stacks of confusion… ok ill wait my condi removal —> stacks are gone it’s time to attack… oh another 8/10 stacks, let’s w8 again and again and again while he can attack without paying attention to anything but its skill bar.
Perma stealth : Dodge BS, he stealth, dodge BS, he stealth.. again and again and again untill he get bored and escape or get killed.
I’ve tried out once Perplexity runes with SB/GS + drake pet and it was too much powerfull to be anjoyable.
When I face perma-stealth thieves/Any class with Perplexity runes/shatterer mesmers I just know they are bad players, and 99% of the times the fights are just awefull.
I may or may not win, it doesn’t matter, those player are just too bad to enjoy a fight with.
But I don’t alt-F4, I just try to kill them or troll them, and I never feel bad when I loose against a cheesy build
I think someone here is over reacting, ranger is very strong compared to most classes in WvW and sPvP, since some of the last ( few months ago ) thief nerf I’ve never loosed against them on my ranger or ele.
Most ranger I face are running a glassy LB build and this is the real problem, Anet only likes melee and they don’t even want to give ranged weapons enough power to be viable in solo/skirmishes ( LB and staff foremost )
As it is right now my only problems are :
1) Devs balance classes only on sPvP ( which imo is a mini game ) and PvE
2) Perplexity runes, enough said.
3) Pet mechanic, flawed and incomplete
We need to send something GW2 specific , and ranger specific.

- Long range shot seems a little bit OP, at least against melees
- Rapid fire with bleeds ? LB is a power weapon, those 150/180 tick of blee would not help much imo
- Hunter shoot stealth, would be nice, maybe apply a smoke field too :P
- Barrage, 2 seconds immob would be a little bit extreme considering the fact that it already applies cripple, but I would like the possibility to teleport in a 360/600 range while channeling the skill

As Ancient Ranger just said, get rid of Arcane brilance, you have no enough condi removal, bring ER instead, and try to get some more armor, 2360 is very low, a thief can 2shot yout.

There will still be queues to get into the normal maps. The edge of the mist will a nice way to fill your time, but will people want to play there the entire time if they aren’t helping their server achieve a season victory?
And say you did want to get into a BL, your guild’s queue will be popping one at a time, so it will still take several hours to get a full force into the normal zones.
Queues are not that long on my server, and if the edge of the mist turns out to be a nice place for small team skirmishes I will probably stay there all the times.

The update is related to this part of my post:
There is even a bug where you get immobilized even tho you don’t have the de-buff on you and when this bug happens you cant cleanse it since there is nothing to cleanse but yet your character can’t move at all and you can see the chains around it.
Last night after few hours of tense WvW I’ve got this “PIN UP” situation again in combat where my character is stuck to same place and cannot move even without a single condition on me.
Than I’ve asked in map chat if anyone else have this problem and for my surprise it turned out its a wide spread BUG affecting every 8/10 players.
1 person in map chat suggested to swap weapons if it happens but since I’m an Elementalist i don’t have 2nd weapon set to switch so I’ve finally remembered where I’ve seen this bug happen before – when large group (zerg?) of players build same siege weapon and mostly its a RAM and people get stuck on their place.
Like i said I’m Elementalist so i don’t have 2nd weapon set to switch to it so i’ve did what i was doing before when i get stuck on RAMs – I’ve used my healing skill or used emotion like /wave or /dance and IT WORKED.
Turned out the same bug that was pinning our characters to their places now happens in combat.
It appeared with this Wintersday patch.
TL:DR – the bug that is happening when many players try to build same RAM and get stuck on their places afterwards now happens in combat.
Have you tried to swap attunement ? I suppose it should work out
We don’t mind warriors doing massive damage, or doing great area of effect control, but we’re trying to prevent them from easily doing both.
Conclusion.
This is a politically motivated nerf, motivated by false pretenses and data. And by significantly buffing other professions and nerfing warriors under false pretenses. ANET you have failed to balance the game.

Warriors are pretty strong right now, but will be seeing changes in an upcoming patch.
We like how they can be tanky, and we like how they can do DPS if they want. We also like the CC they can bring. We just don’t like them doing it all with 1 build.
I tested LB + eagle eye with zerker for a while yesterday and it doesn’t seems OP, at all.
The dps has improved, but it’s still lower than most Thief/Warrior weapons.
I think Anet should keep it like that and give the same thing to sword/great sword

- The self proclaimed real WvW players say rewards don’t matter it’s enough for me kill players that’s how I have fun, the chest is just icing on the cake.
- The casual WvW players wanna see some proper rewards for time spent, killing is fun but getting properly rewarded adds more fun.- I could also claim a real WvW player is the one that plays for objectives and ppt to benefit his server and achieve the win, not just for his own selfish needs.
- Those that play just for fights are selfish don’t care about their server and actually hurt their server, it’s a win the fight lose the war scenario for them.
they don’t care about server win or lose, all they care about is their tunnel vision fights, never looking at the bigger picture.But I don’t say that because I understand there are different kinds of WvW players !
If killing players in PVP was all the fun you needed A.net wouldn’t be changing sPVP so drastically to provide the PVP scene with some much needed proper rewards !

The rewards do not matter, however equipe-runes-foods costs a lot, so we also like some golds from time to time.
A real WvW player play WvW for the fun, could it be in zerg or roaming, it actually doesn’t matter, and the PPT game is just silly.
If you play in zerg you can support your server a little bit, you cannot change the outcome of a battle by yourself.
If you do roaming you can actually help your zerg more by giving them the enemy location; stomping people; taking supply camps, killing dolyaks; capping sentrys; refreshing sieges; building some supply traps; escorting dolyaks; ecc..
And don’t compare WvW with sPvP, the 2 things are not related, but both game mode do not need rewards.
sPvP lacks purpose, only 1 game mode, only few maps, no tournaments, bad class balance.
Anet is going to give rewards ? who cares ? most people have abandoned that game mode because is incomplete, not because theres no rewards lol.
GW1 had no rewards in PvP but it was a real game, you could actualy buy only the PvP part for like 10 euros, GW2 PvP is like a crippled copy of it

Especially the issues related to WvW.
- Improve pet AI
- Fix class bugs
- Improve traits synergy
- Class balance for every mode, WvW-sPvP-PvE
But those things take time, which Anet doesn’t have, not for ranger anyway.
Most WvW players will not go there. If you have been there as part of testing you get a bad after taste of PvE on this map very quickly…
WvW players want to play with their team mates where it matters. And WvW players already have an overflow called PvE.
If people go often there depends on the rewards in the end, which are bad as usual. And of course when it’s realeased to finish an extremely grindy meta achievement.
Sure the map will fill its niche, but that’s all. But it’s not a solution to WvW queues in prime time.
I’m a WvW player and I never go to Pve, I instead go to spvp when in queue lol
And the reward is not the most important thing for a WvWer, the good fights and the fun are the basic of it, it’s not Pve where most people like to farm for no purpose

I think ranger is not ment for zerging, but it also lack something in roaming/havoc,
Thief and mesmers have a lot of stealth skills that they can use to compensate the lack of survival and still dealing impressive damages, the ranger has no such a thing, a full zerker ranger dies in 2 seconds no matter what, a thief can always cloak and burst few seconds later
I’m more worried about the build diversity, most people will stick to the current meta.
But then what happens when the meta changes ? will it ever change after Ascended armors ?
And, will we be able to have more than 1 build ? and what about our alts ?

Anet has already stated that they want to introduce rewards for support roles, not just healing/boons but also for scouts and patrols.
They just need some time to figure out how to do it.
Good idea, but I hope Anet reduce the number of servers, maybe in 15/18 for europe ?

Oh dear. I think everyone missed the point of Septemptus’ question. If the WXP boosters stay soulbound, then he’ll have to bring characters he doesn’t want to play in WvW to get any use out of them. If they are account bound, then he can move them over to the four he does want to play.
Either way, I haven’t seen any news on this. Based on nothing at all, I wouldn’t be surprised if they remained soulbound.
The changes mean that WXP points are a pool from which you can locate the points to which character you please.
Every character benefits from the same rank. This pool doesn’t “dry up” because you spent all the points on your main.
There is no point, if you already have X jug of Wxp on 1 char then you just need to log in with it and use them, if hes playing and he gets one he can use it immediately, remember that when you use 1 jug your entire account gets the ammount of it, not just the char who has used it.
Think of it like a wallet, when you use 1 jug of liquid karma all you character will have the ammount of it, you don’t need to use the bank XD

Sorry but I don’t understand why you want to move those boosters, the Wxp will be account bound, so it doesn’t matter on which character you use them cause all of them will be effected.
Think of if like Karma works, you use 1 jug of liquid karma on your character, your account receive the ammount of it, not just the charachter
Since WXP will become account bound boosters will effect your account
In my opinion escorting dolyaks is almost useless, I’ve never been killed by an escorter and I was always able to kill the dolyak.
I think the best thing is preventing to enemy players to bee around the zone by hounting them, I find guarding a “sector” is more helpfull than actually escorting dolyaks since you can do more things and better

Vizunah didn’t invented the 2vs1, most servers have done it at least once, SFR did it twice in a raw.
I don’t know if you guys have ever played other mmos like GW2, but in DAOC and RFO there was always some sort of “alliance” between 2 servers, it’s called tactic, usually it was against the most powerfull one, but there where also betrayals
