Why not making the OS arena an istance we can buy in the gem store much like private PvP servers ?

- We can rent the server, same price as PvP.
- Everyone can jump on the server from the WvW control panel in all EU or NA.
- You can set password and rules.
- Everyone can choose side (blue/green/red), so we can also do GvG.
- 0 rewards/exp inside this arena.

Anet makes some profit and we players enjoy the duels/GvGs. Win-Win

Siege Disablers Ruined the Game

I’m sorry but using anecdotal logic to “counter” the argument that siege disablers will always favor the strongest is plain fallacious.

At least I bring something usefull to the thread instead of whining.

No matter what you say, or how in love with your own hype you are, all things being equals, more players = more supplies. Supplies is the name of this game. When you are a zerg of 30 + you don’t care too much to waste 3 rams. When you are 5, this is a disaster.

LOL, a zerg of 30+ can only take so much supplys, after a while every camp will be empty and they will waste a lot of time resupplying, if you are 5vs30 you need to be smart, retake supply camps then use supply traps and place siege disablers, this will slow down the zerg that eventually will jump to another map.

Beside, it’s not like siege disablers are hard to use and easy to counter. It is as close to fool proof as can be.

You know you can kill the guy with a trap right ? it’s not like hes invulnerable, if they disable you rams you just need to step back and build catas/trebs, then protect them instead of autoattacking the gate like any zerglings do.

EU needs to do what NA has done in T1 and T2. There’s not enough population to support more than 2 healthy tiers.

Where did you get the idea that T1 is overflowing? T1 has less than half the population it did a year ago. In fact, T1 now would barely be competitive to T4 back in October-November in 2012.

Don’t know about NA but EU servers are well populated, I still see queues at prime time in my T3 server, at reset almost every BL has queue.

Siege Disablers Ruined the Game

Nothing wrong with siege disablers imo. You got your 3+ rams disabled ? then build a cata or a treb far back and protect it instead of blob on the gate.

Again, that way you always will benefit the most powerful server (that is the most crowded). No way to build 3-4 rams and a trebuched with 20 people, even more when other server can disable teh trebuchet too. Is too op atm, and the strongest server will be more benefited than the others

I don’t know about you, but I and my guild mates always run with 20 supplys each and a treb costs only 100, with 20 people you can build 4 trebs lol, if all 20 of you are new to WvW and without a guild you can still build 2 rams and 1 treb, you can also make supply runs or ask a WvW guild to claim a supply depot if you need more supplys.

I’m not sure about “the strongest server is advantaged”, few weeks me and other 5 people managed to defend bay from a zerg of 30+ only thanks to these siege disablers.
Those traps punish only the mindless zergs and give defenders enough time to react, if a group is well organized they will take the tower/keep no matter how many siege disablers you trow at them.

They do need a nerf,either remove them from being AOE so only 1 siege is affected or lower that timer on being disabled.

It wont be usefull then if you can only effect 1 siege

Just thinking out loud here, what about then changing how pet stat increases work? How about the pet stats increasing equal with the ranger by points in other trait lines and the boost in the BM line becomes a reduction on pet skills cooldown?

That was suggest countless times and I think if done right could make much more sense than the courrent state.

I would also take the equip into consideration

I’ve been reported many times while trolling those rank farmers, I even got banned from 1 of those server, luckly for me there are few others available where I can make those people mad XD.

Having been playing Ranger religiously since the betas I don’t really see this “huge PBS nerf.” They added an animation tell with the projectile. The function of the skill is still the same… 1/2s cast and 900 range. Am I missing a secret patch note?

People like to exaggerate things, it actually looks cool the animation lol

Sure is a learn to play issue. Please post a link of the video teaching me and all other rangers your gosu moves on how to keep pet alive in PVE world boss events, dungeon/fractal bosses and WVW Zerg fights, in which your pet is actually contributing and not just there to neuter your damage potential.

I can take that challenge.
I’ll run a fractals tomorrow evening on my ranger.

Hopefully before then you can actually learn how to play the game?

Or maybe Anet will design a class for you that’s invul to everything that you can roll your face on the keyboard and contribute to a high end group.

Oooor maybe you can take the time and learn how to play the class..

….I’m guessing the vid and the NPE anet class will happen before the last one.

Go for it buddy, run a fractal with some different final bosses, then go on a PVE world event boss and then a big Zerg fight. Show me your pet alive and actually contributing to your damage during those fights and I will come back here, applaud you and say that I will study your videos to try and learn to play and stop simply, qqing.

I know it’s hard to belive but pets can do more than just attack. You really think you can make a melee pet autoattack inside a WvW zerg and then pretend it to survive the hammer train ? or pretend to tank a world boss ?

I usually don’t zerg much, but when I do I usually set the pet in massive mode and choose some with support abilities like the fern hound and the wolf, HaO is very good in zerg fights for both you and your pet.

Wold bosses arent my thing, but I managed to keep my pets alive 90% of the time when fighting them.

It does happens a lot in PvP, usually I get some insults and then its over.
Few times they insult me then block me and then keep kittening in /say chat like " ahahah I blocked you noob ! I have a bigger kitten than you !" , I guess it’s normal when every kid can play the game, it feels like I’m playing COD somethimes.

I usually just report them and laugh for a bit

Well we know that, but this is the balance subforum we talk about :P

I am just a bit 50/50 on whether it was a smart move or not… We all want some more interaction between Developers and us, but there are some who do not appreciate some Developers, or in this case a Community Manager, showing their love for their class, despte it not intended in any harmful way…

Transparency is hard in the Balance Subforum… Again, I find it refreshing to see a red post, but I am a bit “worried” of what might happen… I remember last class CDI, and the Rangers “claiming their victory” – it was followed up by a huge amount of negativity amongst nearly all classes and people accusing Devs for class bias (for a communal vote mind you), even though it was not intended that way…

This being said, if she wants to set an example, then I would invite more people from Anet comming on over, and support their favourite classes – because I am personally all up for having a “Face” for every class, despite their knowledge of balancing or not
You know, someone to talk to and with, and not feeling like talking to a white wall with some black text

And I should probably make my own topic if I want to discuss this further – I am just showing a slight concern I have :P

I think it’s good that a Devs play different classes other than warrior :P

rapid fire shouldn't track through stealth

You are talking about a balanced situation but then you take into consideration that the ranger is a complete noob and the thief is skilled, doesn’t look like a balanced situation to me.
In a balanced match 1vs1 the LB ranger can survive 1 or 2 burst easly, sic’em can be used when the thief is at low health to prevent him to stealth —> reset.

Sic’em is a very good skill now but very situational, most of the time the average ranger doesn’t run with it unless is hunting perma stealth thiefs.

LB zerk ranger can survive maybe one Thief burst, then he’s insta-gibbed by heartseeker.
Remember, talking about the so-called “god mode” 6/6/x/x/x ranger build. This build has practically no defences if he wants to be bursty in a way ppl are complaining about.
He stands no chance against a Thief who’s aware of his stuff….

Yeah a 6/6/x/x/x in berserker is completely glass cannon and shouldn’t survive more than 1 burst from a skilled thief but, it’s only good for trolling bad people or sniping off point in PvP, imo people are complaining about all LB build out there.

They don’t even know what they are talking about, more than once I received a PM from the guy I killed saying “OP LB ranger 22221111” while I wasn’t even using a LB lol, a guy even reply to me “how do you stealth then ?” because he didn’t even know about the trapper runes, so I guess that for most complains about the LB ranger is just a biased whine.

The point is obvious, a good Thief never gets caught by zerker LB Rapid fire in a balanced situation, Thief is the class that should always initiate, if played correctly. Sic’em is for builds which can withstand the initial burst to delay Thief’s ability to re-stealth.

There’s your point, Sic’em has barely any value to zerker LB ranger, because he can’t survive the initial burst against a skilled Thief.

A visual tell for revealed could help many new thiefs/mesmers/engis/ranger who rely on stealth.

I saw too many times a thief casting Shadow Refuge while on revealed, It’ funny because 8/10 stand still inside the circle and die XD

Try to remove all the crap like auto target and auto attack (ctrl + right mouse) and it will not lock you, sword is a very interesting weapon, with some practice it can be really enjoyable.

What about instead of protect from direct damage the pet takes all incoming conditions ?

You mean like a combined total immunity to everything for 6 seconds? That would be definitely worth two util slots (Read “OP”)

Warrior :
Endure pain – Damage immunity for 4s (5s traited), breaks stun. 60s cd
Berserker stance – Condi immunity for 8s (10s traited)+ gain adrenaline. 60s cd

Both are stances and can be traited with only 2 points investement

Ranger :
Signet of stone – Damage immunity for 6s. 80s cd (68s traited)
(redesigned)Protect me – Condi immunity for 6s, breaks stun. 60s cd (48s traited). The pet cannot attack or use any skill.

To trait both skills ranger needs to invest in 4 points.

It might be OP, but it looks better for warrior than ranger.

bring back new " glory " and new " ranks " ( Champ title ?) for very good players, not for all!
bring back golden, silver capes for Top 50 players
make NEW Ladder/ Reset ladder every month
bring back classic " tombs / HA " ( 8 vs 8 + ghostly hero ) or 8 vs 8 vs 8..
bring back who won a battle @ hall of heroes

bring new features to the User interface! let us customize the interface…

bring a bank @ hotm
make better balance ( often / more patches ) make hotfixes..
bring (back) same health for every class… 15000 HP for all!

Theres no way to visualise the general ranks of players in your wvw zerg making the ranking system not too useful especially once all rank ability’s are maxed out.

Why do you think it will be usefull to know the rank ?

Rank is completely useless, you can’t tell if player is good or experienced just by knowing his rank, you can make 10+ ranks a day just by playing in Eotm and still be a noob.

I could easly make a nomad armor and trait full defense to run with the zerg in Eotm without using 1 skill and still farm ranks.

I am all for this idea but Anet wants to make a big ktrain fest out of wvw with this change and siege disablers.

Bannering the lord fix and the new sige disabler traps are a first step to counter the Ktrain. Now people have to actively defend instead of trowing warriors inside the circle.

Your lord is dead ? next time try to defend him before the enemy zerg kills it.

The enemy used a siege disabler ? you can always build those cata somewhere far instead of 10 cm from the walls

Hunter’s call is good against Thiefs and mesmers, once you casted it you can keep track of the stealther.

I think the war horn is ment to be a support weapon, not the main source of damage but capable of support you and your allies, on the same weapon set you have a good counter to stealth, Swiftness/fury/might and a blast finisher.

TU is already the best heal we have, Heal as one should be buffed and behave like it did in GW1 (if the pet is dead it will resurrect with 50% HP).

I don’t think Anet will nerf RF, I still have to see a LB ranger in any top PvP team comp. You always see at least 1 guardian/warrior/ele/engi but ranger are very rare.

And in WvW LB ranger is still not “meta”, if you lose against a LB ranger it means he outplayed you.

I suggest you to start with “Defense against guards” and “Guard killer” since they give +250 vitality and + 250 Power/condition, they both very usefull in every aspect of WvW.

Anet resets the points spent only at the beginning of a league/tournament.

you are probably running a bunker build and even tho you can survive them, you can’t kill anythign either…

I’ve run into a couple trap rangers and just wrecked them. Once on my power ranger since I had the range/rapid fire stealth tracking, and once on my condi regen ranger. I hit him with entangle and it was game over.

I also went against 1 on my necro. Let’s just say necro is pretty much a hard counter to a trapper ranger.

I can see how that build could be pretty effective against other professions though. Too bad I’ll never get to try them out in WvW since I absolutely hate crafting.

I still have to fight against really good roamers, but 1 thing is sure, condi necro is a hard counter.

It might be over the top yeah, but I love to see big numbers :P, it’s also good to speed clear camps.

I would love to get a new Elite trap, maybe a condi cleanse/water field or a smoke field, but that’s maybe too much to ask.

It’s been 2 weeks since the last balance patch and I guess a lot of rangers have tried the runes of the trapper, how do you feel about them ? still exited as day 1 ?

I personally enjoyed the changes very much, the runes are solid and the build they open up are very powerfull, I never liked the trapper builds for roaming because it felt high risk and without ascape abilities, but with the stealth and super speed everything has changed.

What do you guys think about the trapper ranger for roaming ? I’ve seen only 1 trapper ranger since the patch so it felt like a) not many people know about the runes, or b) not many people enjoy the trap ranger.

Ranger and Engi have a counter called reveal (6s) I’m sure Anet will introduce it to more classes in the future balance patches.

If you have problems with thief you shoul pay one o these classes to be your bodyguard.
