What Greatsword skills you want?

DPS and cleave that are equal to other classes.

If you want dps equal to other classes we better hope we get some big damage mod traits in the elite spec line. Which is unlikely. Either that or the GS will have really high base numbers. Which is even more unlikely for balance reasons.

The cleave is probably a safe bet though.

The reason im not hyped for shouts or stances is because if its either of those its very unlikely we will get group utility such as projectile defence. Which is something i think we need atleast some access to. A stance could be a selfish reflect i suppose. But thats unlikely to be picked in a group.

Yes they can do even more damage with the same support as always. Its only slightly better damage with a certain build which is not neccessarily practical or best in some situations. That doesnt really mean the class has changed its position. It was already in the 5th slot as the utility supportive choice between guard or mesmer. And it will most likely always remain in that slot.

Although chronomancer looks like it might make itself a permanent addition to every group which could push out the guard. Depending on what happens with the rest of the group.

I would allow healing and lifeforce gain to occur in DS. Would not change anything else specifically to base DS. However I would add more defensive traits and skills to the base class. Block/invuln/reflect in DS or vigor on crit for example.

If you cant see the overwhelming value of chronomancer in a speedrun. You need to go back to speedrun school.

Its not just doubling up on good skills. Its using skills in CS and then resetting. This essentially means you dont have any skills on cooldown for the next fight. You may even be able to use a CS out of combat (illusionary persona baseline) and switch skills due to no cooldown once you revert time. So for example CS > time warp > return > swap to mass invis and start your portal skip.

I think the idea is that having near to death and path of midnight together is a bit much. Those two traits are pretty good on their own. Whereas vital persistance and speed of shadows are less so. So it makes more sense to put a good trait with a lackluster trait in each case. This way we still need to make a meaningful choice.

Its a barrier which appears when the boss spawns. Meaning you arent supposed to get passed it before killing the boss. Just like every other door. This is exactly why i dont like these overly restrictive rules. They create inconsistencies which most people seem to just casually overlook when it suits them.

The arguement for allowing it is it doesnt effect objectives or their order. It only saves a small amount of time for a portal. But the exact same arguement can be made for COE doors, TA fw archer room door and many others. Yet those two are banned. It doesnt make sense to me. A better rule would be to just make sure all objectives and doors are opened in the correct order and no out of bounds. This allows people to go ahead in some areas but keeps the path relatively linear (still dont know why people want things to be as linear as possible).

If you have a rule saying dont go through blocked passageways before they open then stick to it and ban the p2 and p3 instances aswell. But we all know noone wants that because it doesnt improve the path in anyway. Just like banning them in TA and COE certainly didnt improve those paths. In fact it made them less entertaining and just slowed them down for no real reason.

PS. Yes im talking about the bone wall.

I don’t see a problem with any of these already allowed things, except the p4 tree jumping puzzle after Simin. The arah p2 and ac story seem to be working fine. coe explorable jumping over the door is clearly an exploit.

The CoE doors are the same as the p3 door and the p2 wall. The only difference is those barriers dont appear straight away. If you are going to consider one an exploit then clearly skipping through a door before it appears is an exploit aswell.

Light’s Judgement vs Well of Suffering

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Well_of_Suffering

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Im seeing a trend of godly overpowered skills on the new specs so far. But im willing to bet necro doesnt get anything anywhere near that amazing.

You feel bad for Necros? Guardians have gotten traps, just like Rangers do have, with the slight difference that the Guardian traps will be godly on a fairly long cooldown while the Ranger traps are currently useless in PvE and only really make sense in one specific build in PvP. Guardians have also gotten the LB and their skillrotation seems more powerful than the Ranger LB, from a utility standpoint especially.
I guess we have to wait what the actual damage will look like, but I foresee many PewPewRangers becoming PewPewGuardians.

https://youtu.be/0tdsL4kvp_I

In all seriousness. Ranger traps might be awful. But the class itself is in a far better position than necro. And in response to what you said. Guards are getting better traps than rangers. Mesmers are getting better wells than necros. :P

Ive personally always been against this rule. Ive always felt more interesting tactics can come from being able to send people through blocks early. Aslong as all objectives are complete (and in order?) and noone goes out of bounds it should be fine. So when a block can be bypassed by simple jumps or a blink which doesnt result in out of bounds then i think it should be allowed. And i dont consider the jump from tree to bloodstone as out of bounds.

And if you are going to keep the wait for blockades. Then the p2 thing should be banned. Its inconsistant. Its no different to blinking up the bridge before it vanishes on TA story to skip the gather ingredients event.

Corruption skill changes

in Necromancer

Posted by: spoj.9672

spoj.9672

People complaining about self applied condis apparenly don’t know how to play a necro, that’s all im going to say about that.

Lol. This is an absurd statement to make. Somehow i dont think its a matter of not knowing. Its more of a “why should i slot/use this everytime i use a corruption skill”.

Like i said before its restrictive. Using a transfer with BiP is like the only worthwhile one to do. But its still restrictive. The bleed on self isnt too strong so you can leave it. However most of the time you never want to. So you are forced to use your heal or a transfer. The extra heal is negated if you leave the bleed on you too long which means you are forced to heal straight away. And the extra damage gained from a transfer is inconsequential.

And yes they all have synergy for larger heals with consume. But is that small amount of synergy worth the restrictive nature of the skill? I could understand them being so restrictive and forcing you take take condi cleanes if they were much much stronger. But they arent. They are weak.

Epidemic is reasonably strong but niche. And the self vuln can be completely ignored as it does not damage you and it does not butcher your damage. Epidemic is the only skill of the lot where the self condi is justified (still debatable).

The rest do more harm than good. Forcing you to only use the skills when you have a transfer or cleanse available. Forcing you to use a slot for a transfer/cleanse. Or forcing you to be punished for using a weak skill.

in Necromancer

I agree that there is no valid reason for them to have self inflicting conditions. We require certain utilities or traits to counter the harm we cause to ourselves. If we had a condi transfer as base (in DS) then it would be fine. But we dont so we are forced to use transfers or cleanses when using corruption skills. Its restrictive.

Mobility is not the only solution to fix our problems. Its a desirable solution. But its not needed and it fits even less with necro design than active defence does. Its much more reasonably to expect them to change their stance and give us more stationary avoidance than it is to make us highly mobile.

I doubt its that the guy in charge of Necromancer doesn’t like Necromancer (in fact he’s the guy that was in charge of us in GW1), I think it is much more likely that he isn’t allowed to make the changes we want. For example, imagine you work for Anet as a game designer, but aren’t the lead designer. Everything you do, no matter how cool, has to go through that lead (who is Peters afaik). That means you could be begging to do all the changes that the forums ask for, and the lead can just tell you no for whatever reason, and there isn’t a thing you can do.

This is also a possibility. But he is also in charge of mesmer. And it looks like that is his personal favourite. I cant fault someone for having a class preference. Its only natural. Mesmer is my second favourite class. But because it is second i dont worry about the intricacy’s of the class in as much detail. I imagine this is a problem most of the balance team have. And when you have a lack of people with favour towards a certain class. Its only naturally the pushes of the community will get less attention.

Im sure with more inhouse popularity, better arguements and persuasion could be made to the balance team leads to allow certain changes. So the problem probably comes from both problems.

The problem is beyond bandaid fixing with an elite spec. The base class needs work aswell.

People are reading the tooltip wrong. They think it only lasts 1 second but that’s because it’s a pulsing effect. So it’s 25 whopping stacks.

And particularly 10 seconds of revealed which is gonna get so much thief QQ it’s not even funny.

For PVP I’d imagine players are smart enough to gtfo out of it, so the reveal won’t be too bad. And the 25 stack with current mechanics would only be up 1/2 the time, dropping ever half second. So we’ll see what actually happens with it.

I have heard from unofficial sources that condi duration reduction is being removed with the defiant change. No more unshakeable. I could be wrong about this. But i would not be surprised. This means debuff conditions become slightly better (good change because boons are so dominant atm). And its not an issue for blind because that looks like its going to reduce the break bar instead of applying.

Also i was hyped with the new vuln traits on necro possibly making it an easier vuln stacker than engi. But at this point it looks likely that every class is going to be able to solo 25 vuln stacks AOE. x)

well does more dps per tick, (according to the database which may be wrong)
does 2 stacks which lasts 5 times as long
shorter cool down,
has a field
casts 4 times faster,
and has no activation time

honestly doesnt look that crazy.

The trap is 25 vuln for 10 seconds.

WoS is a max of 12 stacks for a few seconds right at the end of the wells duration. And its only 6 second duration. And the total damage isnt much lower. But the damage wasnt what i was referring to.

For vuln stacking the trap is an elite level skill. Glyph of storms is a good utility slot. WoS is necros best utility slot, but not a good utility slot overall. Its incredibly weak compared to alternative similar skills. This is basically a common occurence for necro across most of their utilities, traits and weapon skills.
