Cap the flag will not work as a game mode unless they give the flag carrier a new set of skills. Otherwise, it will just be like spirit watch where the orb carrier is not balanced.
Game mechanics are fine, they just need to actually make it more fun to compete. Better rewards, visible rankings, GW1 style observer mode that would show all top 100 matches, proper ladders and seasons.
It really doesn’t require too much effort.
I agree with everything you said. I also think part of the problem is the conquest game mode. It is boring to watch and boring to play. That’s why you don’t see many viewers at tournaments and why the PvP population is so low.

Most thieves can agree that Death Blossom is one of the weakest skills for a thief. The damage output isn’t worth the initiative.

The damage output against a single target is indeed weak, however this skill has the ability to deal AoE damage and should be used as such.
There is no situation where you cant just bring S/P and Showrtbow for aoe purposes and do much more damage then death blossom.
But when you do, you lose the high damage capability of backstab.
D/D is a well rounded, jack-of-all-trade type of weapon set. It has little of everything but great at nothing.
If it does better damage than S/P and SB, then why even bother with those weapon set?

I disagree. My opinion on the weaponsets.
D/D – Should be the pure dps melee, single target build
D/P – Less damage, more blinds
P/P – Range DPS build. Should be less than D/D
P/D – Range condi build
SB – Range Aoe
S/P – Control + blinds
S/D – evades + boonsteal
The only thing missing is a melee condi. I do believe thief should have a new weapon added to fill that role.
I just hope they nerf Warriors and Thieves to be more in-line with everyone else.
You have to specify the cheese builds. It is not entire classes that are bad.

The problems, in my opinion, are the following:
1. The meta has become too tanky. We need MORE dps not less at this point.
2. AOE is skill-less. AOE should be nerfed across the board. To stay consistent with my point #1, solo target damage should be buffed
3. Condi damage should be nerfed, but at the same time, they should introduce condi crit damage. That would allow some specs to do more condi damage, but other specs will do less. Think about it… for direct damage you care about power, precision, and crit damage. For condi, you only care about condition power and condition duration. Both should have 3 stats.
4. AI is too strong. Nerf AI in this game such as spirit rangers and mm necro.

The current leaderboards are ridiculous. I just saw a guy who hadn’t played in 2 months go from 20% to 93% after winning one game. What? The completely defeats the point of decay.
I see people in the top 500 with losing records. There is one in the 100 as I write this. How?

Get it in your head D/D has higher in combat stealth uptime, CnD is easy to land and does very good damage.
Dancing Dgger is a protictile finisher that hits up to 4 targets, learn to use your teams combo fields.

I believe that this ability in WvW needs to cease. To make it more fair you need to be able to see your opponent like in chess. But, the stealthing makes near impossible to be able to see who is coming and how many. This is completely unacceptable since in real war the only steathing is camoflauge uniforms or tent covering from the air. In WvW they are completely invisible which is unrealistic and should be removed from all characters in the WvW area and PvP.
Gotta love when PvE players first come into WvW.
You know its a good update when after playing internally, you go home to play the ‘older’ game on live and wish you were back at the office.

Hambow warriors are strong because they have:
– passive healing
– lots of CC
– huge AOE burnAnd we know they are buffing elementalists.
So what do I predict?
Diamond Skin + near-perma-stability + poison + burst
That will ‘shake up the meta’ because they’ll create some horrible beast out of the elementalists that will make us cry for the days of hambow.

Warriors are just ruining the game. It is no longer skill related. If you want to win you don’t have to be good you just have to play hambow warrior.
In addition its not like “yeah they’re pretty op right now, so every team needs one”. To win you need as much warriors as you can get.

It doesn’t really make sense to have more rewards on the team side. People can just solo into the team queue diluting the quality of games there.
I can’t think of any good reason not to balance the rewards.
If you are complaining about stealth in PvP, you must be a hot join player. Stealth is not used that much in tournaments. Why? Because it is a team liability. You cannot hold points or gain points while in stealth. Sure, it is used, but it is not that big of a deal.

Horrible idea. You should look at other professions and compare. Eles are lacking in the high burst department. They are extremely squishy, more than anyone else and should have higher burst to compensate.
You are probably thinking of over abundance of instant burst skills. This issue is mainly a minor issue, due to arcane utilities. Then again, you sacrifice something to achieve extra instant burst that allows for quick downage of squishy classes, if they don’t avoid your long combos.
Are you serious? Eles have the biggest burst potential in the game. It is the only class that has ever melted me as a guardian.

More sustained damage, but LESS burst damage. Anyone can map a combo to a mouse button. That’s not skill. Eles need better damage for longer duration fights.
So I made an engi account, and played a bunch of solo queue. Top 500 and I don’t even know what I’m doing. How is it possible to have such an easy to play class???? I can’t even imagine how good it would be if I actually wanted to learn it.
Perplexity runes only work against people who don’t watch their own conditions.
No game that has stuns, should also have stunlocks. Neither the player nor his enemies should get stunlocked. It’s never fun to be completely helpless. Especially for classes with poor access to stability.

Let’s be clear anet. Evasion is immunity. There is no counter to it. Maybe try and not put 1.5s immunity on a thief skill which is spammable? In fact you put such an OP thing on every weapon set and they are all criminally under costed. Pistol whip should cost 10 initiative and the shortbow evade should be doubled at least too. And withdraw shouldn’t have an evade.
And AR, diamond skin, berzerker stance are joke too.
Don’t forget about ranger immunity as well.
The other big question to the community is how to reward defense. You don’t want to reward the person who just afk in a tower.
It is certainly a tanky meta right now. That said, you typically see dps thieves (since they are the only class without any viable “tanky” build), eles, mesmers, and the occasional meditation guard these days.
Thieves are fine actually. You have to understand that the average player running around isn’t very good at 1v1 in WvW. The reason for that isn’t player skill, but rather their spec. Most people spec for zerg combat. While that is great for a zerg, it will not win a 1v1 vs anyone, especially against a thief who is running a 1v1 spec.
Still 2 more matchups before things are set in stone.
I firmly believe that Fort Aspenwood should be in Gold, but given Dragonbrand’s more impressive wins against Stormbluff Isle and Sanctum of Rall, their rating could land them ahead of FA into the Gold league.
Pitting Dragonbrand against Mag and SoS next week should settle whether they can hang in the Gold league.
Sorrow’s Furnace is holding their own against HoD and Crystal Desert, pitting them next week against NSP will be interesting to see which one will end up in Silver.

You would have a lot more credibility if you mentioned which thief spec and which ele spec you want to change. Otherwise it seems like you are just ranting.
PvE/WvW has been their top priority for some time now, but if they just did 1 tiny small fix/patch/improvment for pvp along with the pve stuff each update it goes a long ways over time. Doesn’t have to be anything big or significant, just the little things.
WvW is not a priority, and the new map is for PvErs. Get informed.

This ^^. ANET keeps trying to add new PvE stuff into WvW. What they fail to realize is that PvE people don’t want to be killed by others and WvW people don’t want a lot of NPCs. Someday ANET will learn.
As for PvP, this is clearly bottom priority. That said, be careful about ANET giving it a priority. We will likely end up with new gimmicky maps like spirit watch and skyhammer or some gimmicky new game mode that no one wants.
If you think this is bad, try getting a patch 1 hour into WvW reset on a Friday night. Now that is poor planning on ANET’s part.

I don’t mind, because as soon as the game ends, I leave. Any battle that I am fighting is done for me at that point.
Warrior will always outheal a guardian if both are spec’d for heals. The warrior is typically more of a selfish build though (other than shout heals or banner heals).
A guardian can provide the group heals plus more importantly all the boons.
Actually death blossom should be removed from D/D all together. It does not blend in well with the rest of the skills. I’d like to see a new main hand weapon that is focused on melee condi attacks. Death blossom would be a great #2 skill there.
I disagree. Like others have pointed out, Death Blossom gives D/D something that it would otherwise completely lack, which is the ability to deal with adds or multiple mobs at one time. Personally, I think it’s important that any weapon set have viability in more than one specific situation.
The problem is that D/D is a DPS spec. Death blossom is mostly for condi.
I do disagree about the multiple target. It’s perfectly fine to have a weapon set that is around max DPS to one target. The alternate weapon can them be used for the AOE attacks.
and OP. Thanks for the lol. If you are concerned about stealth that is one thing. You seem most concerned about passive play though. If that is the case, there is a whole slew of other issues that need to be deal with first.
Yeah, it was a spirit ranger alright. I just used the word “pets” to refer to sundry AI that people carry around these days. Should have realized it has special meaning for a ranger!
I’ve never seen a range ranger use spirits. It just doesn’t make sense.
