The maps really needs to be tested out first. Most people like the concept, but we need to see how the meta evolves first.

@Dahkeus, your comments are probably correct for hot join, but I think you are definitely wrong about it not needing strategy for higher levels of play. Watch the mistopedia 5v5 sometime.

I agree with you and think the winner deserves one. That said, based on your logic, the same applies to WvW players. Some of them really do nothing but WvW. Since you opened this can of worms, I hope you have answer for that as well.

This is what they should have done a year ago. Now with the gear integration between PvE and PvP, I don’t see them implementing this.

The main point though is that they need to do something to better recognize achievement in PvP.

Yeah, my opinion on this is that horizontal progressional makes sense in PvE. It is a really bad ideal for PvP. The goal of PvP is, and always should be, equality between player gear/traits/etc.

My suggestion is to automatically unlock everything in PvP and only implement the unlock feature for the PvE world.

Saying no rewards anymore is hyperbole. That suggests we are not adding a system to replace the old one, which is not true.

And yes, per Colin’s blog post, we’ve now released that the Feature build will be on April 15!

As was said, promising something in the future doesn’t change the fact that in the now there’s not really a likable system for rewarding PvPers in place.

Sigh. Another greedy player who wants rewards.

Mostly agree. Some additions.

Ranger:
Spirits should be weakened overall. They should provide some support but not be the best conquest build. Passives are bad.

Necro:
Same as ranger when it comes to minions. Reduce their effectiveness.

Thief:
I disagree with your immobilize idea. IS + PW would be a looooong immobilize. Instead, PW should only have a stun or an evade, but not both. I prefer keeping the stun and removing the evade.

Engi:
I don’t like total immunity, but so many people think the problem with Engi is AR. It is not. The problem is how frequently they can use waterfields / blast combos to re-heal. Personally, I’d rather keep AR and remove the water field from the turret.

Rumor update!!!

I heard a pretty exciting rumor that might satisfy forums users. (These are the greedy players who want rewards. Non-forums users are super happy about the no rewards philosophy)

In the mystical world of PvE, there is a big event at the temple of Balthazar. Currently, you beat it and get rewards. The new exciting idea is to add a capture point under the new boss. After you kill the boss and capture the point, you could be presented with a “match win” chest. That chest will include glory boosters. Each player can decide whether to look at the pretty icon or activate it and see the icon in your buff menu!

If implemented, hopefully that would stop the complaints about no match rewards.

These forum users are only a very very small percentage of their player-base. A “vocal minority” if you will. Unimportant, and really unneeded. All necessary information is clearly disseminated in-game. If you didn’t hear about it, its not relevant or important. This is because all will be fixed, and made 90hundred times better soon.

So true, right? That’s why anyone who complains in game MUST be a forum user.

There are way too many complaints about the current no rewards philosophy.
You all do not represent the player base. Trust ANET. They are currently “investigating ways that we can get proper metrics to reflect the majority of the playerbase.”

Most of the player base apparently prefers this new system of no rewards. It is just you on the forums that enjoy rewards. How selfish.

Then some of you complain about ANET giving out glory boosters right up until the moment they became worthless. Why should you feel the need to get compensated for that? They look pretty in your storage. That should be reward enough. After all, at least you received something. With the new no rewards philosophy, people today don’t even get a pretty booster to look at in their storage. Again, you are all selfish for wanting more.

I’ll go one step further. So many people ask for skyhammer to be removed from solo queue. There is no where near consensus on that. I know at least 2 people out of everyone who plays PvP that enjoys the map. That means no consensus. As I mentioned before, you need to trust ANET. If there are 2 people who like it, there may be another 2 or 3 that also like it. That means even less of a consensus.

Players are so greedy!

That’s not to say that we don’t talk about it internally. We talk about it quite a lot.

If the issue was as simple as me making a strawpoll, I’d do it; but it’s not. A very, very small percentage of our playerbase even visit these forums, let alone vote on a poll.

I really hope you aren’t referring to whether people like skyhammer. I’d actually be very scared if you aren’t sure how the majority feel about it at this point.

This is one of the worst thought out decisions ever at ANET.

I’ll give them a big hint as I told them BEFORE they implemented this.

YOU DO NOT REMOVE REWARDS WITHOUT A NEW SYSTEM IN PLACE

The smart approach would have been:
1. Keep giving glory
2. Stop giving glory on the day the new rewards are ready
3. Keep the glory vendors in place for 1 month following the removal of glory.

2. I’ve seen other specs work than only GC. I ran across an ele the other day that was virtually unkillable. That speaks more to the quality of player than to the class though. That said, eles do need help.
3. Yes, warriors are OP
4. I don’t see as many thieves running S/D these days. Most of them switched over to S/P. Pistol whip as a skill is OP right now.
5. Condition damage is definitely too strong at the moment.

One other point: AOE in general in this game is too strong. I’d like to see AOE damage nerfed by 15% across the board and single target damage increased by 15%

I am totally sure they are going to change their plans at this stage, given how for months you people have been complaining how the rewards are terrible.

You miss the point.

For the long term, it is still a TBD if the new rewards system will be better. No point in discussing it or arguing either way until ANET gives us some information.

For the short term, is there any valid reason why they would remove rewards? It seems to make a lot more sense to keep the current rewards system in place UNTIL they are ready to roll out the new one.

MMR is a different team. Justin works on MMR as a server programmer, while designers and artists work on new game modes.

Ele burst is so telegraphed and predictable, of course it hits hard. If ele burst needs to be nerfed, why is no-one playing it?

You are missing the point. It does NOT need to be nerfed in isolation. It only needs to be nerfed should ANET increase the sustained damage and the survivability of eles. An increase in sustained damage will be way more beneficial to eles anyway, so it is a good trade off.

Best support, best damage, best survivability, giant hammers.

Guardians are great for WvW for sure and are important as bunkers in tPvP. I wouldn’t say they are the best damage though.

There’s approximately 17,000 that do Solo Q it seems, getting up to the 94th percentile puts you into the top 1000

17,000 that have done solo queue at some point. I see guild members who haven’t been in PvP since December and they are ranked.

The bigger question is whether people with less than 10 games are in the ladder but not displayed. If so, the 17,000 number is probably correct. If not, then it could be much higher.

As I said in the other thread, you have me confused with someone else (if you really want to get exact, most of my time is on guardian). You are trying to defend 1 class, the ele. My point is that, there are good and bad specs on each class. If you don’t understand that, just read on the forums a bit.

I’m not obsessed with keeping ele down. In fact, it needs more sustained damage buffs, survivability buffs and at the same time, nerfed burst damage. Anyone can macro a burst combo into their mouse. It’s for the fights longer than 2 seconds where skill comes in. Like I said though… you just have to be objective. Every class has good and bad parts to it.

Try to stay on topic… Name one of these that is not currently OP?

Either way, you have Champion Shadow title, yeah? So you’ve played at least 300 tourneys as thief. Probably getting carried while you kitten around on your no-responsibility roamer. But now that you’ve rolled engi, no-one else is allowed to play thief.

Funny really is the wrong word.

You have me confused with someone else. I do not have a champion title on any class and prefer bunker type classes.

The funny part is when they QQ about thieves being OP but somehow a team of 5 hambows or 5 engi is a guaranteed win.

Thieves are ‘OP’ 1v1 because that is broadly the role of the class.

They are largely useless in conquest because nubs who like to feel pro in duels run stealth/escape builds that can’t even prevent a decap.

As soon as eles get a bit of a survivability boost, you can add burst ele into that list as well.

This guy’s kitten is hilarious.

Mains thief, is terrified of hypothetical future ele. He must really need those free kills.

Further examples of this weaksauce agenda from the last 4 days alone:

  • “As soon as they buff ele survivability, burst ele will be on this list as well.”
  • “Burst ele will be the new fotm if they increase survivability and leave burst the same.”
  • “If you add survivability to the ele without reducing its burst damage, you might as well add that to the list as well.”
  • “Ele was OP at one point. Hopefully ANET has learned.”
  • “Soon, we might be able to add a burst ele to the list if they keep the burst the same while increasing surivability.”

Actually I play everything. That’s why I can comment on the specs for each class. I don’t particularly care what gets nerfed or buffed because I PLAY THEM ALL. You need to be more objective when it comes to classes. There are certain specs that are OP. You need to understand that.

and yes, everyone of my quotes was correct. There are already really good eles. The average ones (cough cough) do struggle right now, and that’s why they need a survivability buff. The trade off needs to be high end burst from a GC ele. It’s the only class that can melt my guardian. It also dies really fast though. (hence the burst vs survivability comment)

You also may be new, but ele was OP at one point. ANET nerfed it too far and that’s why it is in the situation it is today.
