It is not a NA vs EU thing. Certain specs are equally broken on both.
So… I see some good suggestions on how to improve on the map, if not removed. And how Team Q might be able to counterplay it on a premade team.
What I don’t see is a single reason why they are in Solo Q, but not in Team Q.

Season length: 8 weeks + 2 week playoffs afterwards
Balance patches: One before and one after the season
Format: Should be more focused around individuals vs teams. Why? Teams can’t stay together for long. If it is structured around teams, if one person needs a gw2 break, the team is done.
So because you held far as decap engi against bad team it is OK that warriors go to farpoint and die 5 times because “they so OP and kill errything”?
Is this just to brag or you really dont understand how incompetent player going far point is bad for team?
You and the OP are both arguing the extreme cases. The actual answer is somewhere in the middle. Far point should be pushed depending on what is going on in the map. Teams need to adjust strategy based on what is happening.
You all need to separate the poster from the content. He is correct that those specs mentioned are skill-less.
The only change I’d make is calling out mm necro. That’s too easy of a spec.

Well yeah. I wouldn’t touch a F2P/B2P NCSoft game in exchange for this one… I know they’re greedy but luckily its a sub game and won’t have a cash shop as they say, so I’m not too worried about that.
So I criticize ANET as much as anyone, but this comment is just crazy. From a cost perspective, you can’t beat gw2. You can buy the game and then never give ANET another cent. It’s a good deal.
Both should be removed from solo queue. At least spirit watch is somewhat fixable if they remove skill use when carrying the orb.

PvE is pretty good actually. It really isn’t a problem. The issues are:
WvW has gotten changes, but they are not what the community wants.
PvP is forgotten and the last two maps delivered have been very poor.
Balance is the biggest fail in this game. I’ve explained why in the past, but the issue is that ANET has a really bad methodology there.
This map is not balanced at all, and shouldn’t be in solo queue. So, I’d like to propose one of two options:
1. Remove it from solo queue (the easy but not great solution)
2. Change the mechanics of the map.
The changes:
—When someone picks up an orb, they get a completely new skill bar and no utilities. The only skills would be a small heal, remove a condi, and aegis. These would all be on a timer.
—The orb carrier health/armor is set at 15,000 and 3,000. If someone picks up the orb when they are already damaged, say 50%, then they would start running the orb with 7,500 hp (picking up the orb can’t be a free full heal)
So, why should these changes be made? One we can balance the orb carrier, it allows for new game modes such as CTF. CTF would not work well in the current approach. It would also allow spirit watch to be more competitive vs having certain classes dominate the orb carrying. In solo queue, if you don’t get one of those classes, it is pretty much gg from the start.
EOTM is not good for fights. It is mostly there for karma trains and for troll specs. The lack of WP makes it even more boring. Way too much running.
The map is horrible. Let’s hope we get a surprise during the maintenance update.

What you don’t understand is that people don’t defend for one main reason…. it is boring. Most people play the game to actually play, not to sit around waiting for something to happen. That will always be the case with defense.
So you had an idea of upgraded structures earning more points. The problem is that it is REALLY easy to defend a T3 tower already. I’m concerned that it will give the server that is ahead early a huge advantage. Most servers are a lot of fairweathers that don’t play after they start trailing on the scoreboard. That’s not good for fun fights.
The best counter to decap engi are condi necro and ele. For condi necro, just ensure to drop as many condis as possible before they hit the 25% health level.
You can’t say that warriors are over powered. It is just certain specs. As I’ve said before, there are a number of specs that need to be toned down in this game. Hambow is one of them. The other problem specs are:
decap engi, spirit ranger, mm necro, pu mesmer, s/p thief, bunker guardian.
I’m absolutely sick to death of players who don’t know what to do in PvP matches.
They fight off point and clearly the capture points part of the game is lost on them.
I feel like I’m the only person on my team looking at the map icons, seeing where players are, playing strategically.
All I want is my Champion title and I’ll be goneski from PvP. It’s disappointing that my success in achieving this goal is dependent on players who have no idea what they’re doing.

I’ve learned that if you think all members of your team are horrible except for you, most likely it is you that is the problem. In the team game, not everyone is going to play the same way you do. You have to adapt a bit based on what is going on.

HS should be nerfed by 15% and the tie to healing power should be increased by a lot at the same time. In other words, a zerker would heal for less but a more bunker oriented warior would heal for more.

Ferocity isn’t intended to balance anything. It is to make up for PvE content where zerker is “too” strong. ANET had to decide whether to fix their bosses or nerf crit damage and they decided the easiest approach was to nerf crit damage
If you can’t see animations on asura then either you are:
1. Really old
2. Partially blind
3. Play at some crazy high resolution

I stopped reading when you said ele is bad at everything except PvE. They are one of the top 3 classes within WvW. Just stick to arguing for changes in PvP.
Overall… too many low risk, low skill, required high reward specs. Too many passive skills/traits which are too strong. Seriously… passive shouldn’t also be optimal. You should give up some efficiency to gain that no input required stuffs. Fix this and the community will huggles you. Lots and lots of huggles.
This is true. EVERY class has one spec like that right now (except maybe ele). Passive is also too strong. The other issue is that AOE is too strong. AOE should be have much less damage than single target.

The answer is no. Specs that work in sPvP are not ideal for WvW roaming. You rarely run into a pure GC in WvW roaming either.
and I don’t know what tier you play in, but i’ll say in T1, you are lucky to find ANY roaming. Somehow the definition here is that roaming is 5 man groups.
ANet doesnt give a kitten about WvW, accept it.

Okay, to be honest, I will point one thing. It does take skill to land a hit with the Skyhammer cannon. It has a noticeably long telegraphed charge and it covers a big area. Sure you can’t block it or dodge, but you can easily run out of the area, therefore making it harder for the guy on the cannon to land a hit with it.

As others have said, skill is NOT about landing your first combo. That actually takes no skill and can just be a series of key binds.
Real skill is about actually fighting an opponent, knowing when to use what skills, when to change attunements, how to time dodges appropriately, etc. That is skill.
Burst needs to be reduced so that there can be higher sustain. That opens up more play styles as well. If ANET keeps the burst and ups the sustain, ele will just become fotm and next patch, everyone will be asking for nerfs again.
@OP: First rank is blah. I could care less what they do with it.
The bigger issue in my mind is that they are removing rewards for PvP without introducing something new. Keep the system in place as-is until a new rewards system is ready.
I’ll sum up what I don’t like that way :
Bunkers can outsustain DPS while non bunkers tent to die instantly to burst. Both are unfun.
The burst is tuned to stand a chance to beat bunker sustain, but doing so it just melts glassy specs. All that stems from the fact that the sustain in this game is too strong.

Please add in armor or weapons as well. Those of us who have been playing for awhile have more ascended accessories than we know what to do with. Armor or weapons would be better rewards.
Of all the issues with WvW, this is not a priority. In fact, I don’t even see why so many people complain about it. Bannering adds more strategy to a fight. It requires groups to coordinate on who will banner and when. It is also a great defense tactic without adding more lame siege pieces.
Just because ANet announced that glory would go away doesn’t mean they can fairly just screw people over who have these boosters. ANet is still rewarding these boosters today in achievement chests and reward chests. Because they keep rewarding them and consequently taking away valuable spots from other boosters we could get (or other items in general), they absolutely must do more than simply get rid of them.
I fully support the idea of these boosters becoming a consumable worth a lesser amount of Glory, such as 250 glory.

Sounds like you won’t get any rewards other than rank boosters for a period of time. Then at some point, they will be introducing a new rewards system.
My question is whether the glory vendors will still be there after March 18th. I am hoping that they only remove the ability to get new glory but do not remove the ability to use glory that we already have.
But yes i agree overall that if you you increase their sustain you will have to change that burst but only if their overall survivability improves as a result.

Hands down, Edge of the Mists. Best map for solo or small group roaming.
Eotm is horrible for solo roaming, in the vast majority of cases when you meet enemies they will outnumber you 40+ to 1.
Agreed… the runs are also far too long for decent roaming. When we control SM, I find hunting by the guard flags in enemy territory fun. Roaming in the south areas of a BL are probably the best.

That said roaming is pretty boring in WvW. It is basically a lot of running, then you win or lose a fight, then repeat. To clarify, I do mean roaming, not small group running around together.
What a lot of people don’t understand is that larger points makes bunkering EASIER. Someone mentioned decap engi and that is true but it is much bigger than that.
Right now, a bunker has to decide whether to stand in AOE and use heal/condi removal skills. A larger point allows them to run around more.
Ultimately, this is a huge bunker buff and a nerf to anyone who is trying to do damage.
That said, where I would like to see a larger point is for a team deathmatch. First team to take the point wins. Best 2 out of 3 takes the match. The point is important so that one team isn’t just running around at the end trying to avoid the final kill.

Actually death blossom should be removed from D/D all together. It does not blend in well with the rest of the skills. I’d like to see a new main hand weapon that is focused on melee condi attacks. Death blossom would be a great #2 skill there.
The response to this CDI seems underwhelming compared to not only previous WvW CDI’s, but also other currently active CDI’s.
I’m not being snarky, but to an extent, I think this is reflective of the lack of attention we have received as World versus World players.
Perhaps CD: Edge of the Mists is the wrong name for the CDI thread? Many may misinterpret that this CDI is about improving EOTM, as opposed to transitioning ideas/mechanics from EOTM into the regular WvW maps.
I think this might be the MOST that anet has responded in a WvW CDI so far. Compared to other CDI topics though, it is disappointing.
I think they should have a different ANET person coordinate the WvW CDI. I certainly do not mean that as disrespect to the current person. He has a ton of responsibilities and is coordinating all of the WvW activities. If you look at the balance CDI, they do not have a member of the balance team running it. They have Allie who is the community coordinator. It might be better to have someone in that type of role coordinate the CDI and then Devon could just pop in here when he has time and make comments.

PW is fine, if you focus nerfs on PW alone thiefs will just go back to perma evade S/D cheese, or perma stealth d/p cheese. The problem is the trickery tree and the initiative regen of thiefs overall. Atleast PW can be countered by retaliation, unlike S/D which still has no counter.
I hope you realize how bad you just made yourself look. I can’t name ANY top thief in solo or team queue that runs a permastealth d/p build. It is a liability for a team.
Stay focused on PW. It doesn’t need a lot of changes. It just needs the evade removed. That won’t impact top players that much but will raise the skill cap a bit. That’s a good thing.
That’s because you dont play at high level, Caed, Xii Xii, Lux, infact in NA d/p is the premiere build amongst the top players. You wouldn’t know this because you’re a WvW and hotjoin hero.
You just made yourself look even less educated. None of them run PERMASTEALTH builds. PERMASTEALTH is only really beneficial in WvW. In PvP, people stealth, but don’t stay that way for long. The only top end player that I know who used to run permastealth in PvP was Cruuk way back when, but I don’t think he plays anymore.
If you need a definition of permastealth, let me know. I’m sure I can help you learn more about it. D/P is not equal to permastealth.
