We didn’t promise anything, we shared our high level road-map plans.
This is why we don’t like sharing dates. I know you’re waiting on things, and the wait is driving me crazy too, but saying we made promises when we clearly did not does not help get the content out sooner.
If you want greater transparency, like I do, then you must accept that dates, features, and plans are not a static promise. Things can happen to shift priorities, dates, or designs, causing things to changed, be pushed back, or accelerated.
Please stop.
/personal rant
I think what you need to understand is that there are obvious balance issues right now and people are frustrated with them. I get that ANET wants to introduce a big feature release with all the excitement of that, but in the meantime, we have smaller problems that could be dealt with now.
My recommendation to ANET is to separate the big features and the smaller changes. Help with some balance.
ye you get 40 bags full of crap each tpvp win (Dunno in soloq, don’t give a kitten bout soloq xD)…just pile them up like tournament chests and you’re good to go..
account bound ofc
Just wait until this PvE bag is your only PvP reward.
#greatideasfromanet
I wish there was a way that I could give a dishonorable buff to ANET every time spirit watch or skyhammer come up in solo queue.
I hope ANET realizes that the longer it takes for the feature patch, the higher the expectations become.
At this stage the only person to blame for having high expectations is the individual. It shouldn’t take more than a half and yearto finally realize the following “expect the worst and you will never be disappointed” especially with PvP.
Also expecations are high doesn’t seem to be benefit whatever Anet plans are.
You don’t understand how people think. It’s pretty basic. The longer the hype builds around something, the higher the expectation. That’s pretty standard in every part of life.
The flipside is that if the hype lasts too long, people will eventually stop to care and will just move onto a different game.
I see people arguing whether solo queue or team queue should get better rewards. Both are wrong. They should have the same reward.
Why?
Solo queue is about individual skill
Team queue is about team synergy.
The focus is on different things. That’s why there are different leaderboards. The rewards though should be the same.
The matchmaking of people isn’t too bad. The issue is they do not consider classes when building teams. There should never be a case where 3 of a class is on one team and none of that class is on the other team. They need to fix that.
I hope ANET realizes that the longer it takes for the feature patch, the higher the expectations become.

TS problems since TC entered t1, now we can’t enter TCbl. something seems odd
This made me giggle. ty
Wow this is exactly what the hardcore PvPers want!1!11oneoen! How did you guess? SERIOUSLY WHAT THE …. I’m speechless…
Seriously some people will complain about anything. You get something IN ADDITION to what you were previously getting and you complain? Stop whining.
I have seen the future too, massive bearbow blobs.
No, that is the present, you need to ajust your scrying device, kid.
I thought the present was mantra mesmer zergs with venom share thieves here and there.
Maybe, just not in gw2.
Spirit weapons have some usage in fractals, but that’s about it.
I also would like Fractals (and to a lesser extent, Dungeons) to evolve to allow for 2-5 player scaling. I know they are currently designed for 5 people, but I’d like to see the balance code reworked in such a way that 2 people could run through a fractal and be rewarded for that level scale. Obviously 5-man fractals would reward more, but I personally just want to run through them with my wife…currently that isn’t possible.
Call it “Casual-mode” for Fractals.
Personally I would like to see Fractals be able to be 5+ as well with associated risk/reward mechanics.
Chris
Agreed, but please work on some of the scaling. No one likes being 1shot by an npc regardless of whether it is a solo or group fight.
I say condi duration should be capped at +20% but still allow a -40%. It is too much of a condi meta right now.
This isn’t circular reasoning.
We’re not saying we are going to do nothing because we said we would do nothing.
We’re saying we won’t change direction (from the previously stated plans) because it would put many players at a disadvantage, and on top of that these players would be hurt because they listened to us.
We seriously considered many different options, and doing nothing seemed the most fair. Do you disagree? Keep in mind, more people used boosters than did not.
The problem is that a lot of us weren’t using them prior to the announcement. I think I had like 200 or so. I’m down to 120 or something like that, but still, not enough time to use them all.
I think there are two good options:
1. Allow a trade in for other boosters
2. Delay the removal of glory rewards. After all, if there isn’t going to be a new incentive introduced right away, what is the harm in keeping the old system in place a while longer?
@OP:
You are actually incorrect. GC eles or mesmers can burst done someone else just as quickly as a thief. The main different is that those classes have other specs they can use. You just see a lot of GC thieves because there aren’t any other viable specs at upper levels of play.
You mean to tell me that d/d condition thief is not viable in the current meta? :o
haha.
I would like to see them clear the middle and add a large structure instead. Think SM for the borderlands.
@OP: well said. I’m still hoping ANET will do the right thing here, but let’s wait and see.
I’ll tell you what ANET doesn’t want to. These are their two most recent maps. They don’t want it to appear that the new maps are not any good. So, they keep them in solo queue and can honestly say that some people like them. “Some” is relative and as long as more than 1 person likes that map (the design team for example), what they say is true.
Only one answer to the question…. whoever has the lowest health.
@OP:
Damage and stun from PW is fine. It’s just a really easy to play spec. That’s more of the problem. That said, every class has their “easy” spec (well except ele)
decap engi, spirit ranger, mm necro, pu mesmer, bunker guardian, and s/p thief.
@Colin,
I do think that any league/ladder should focus more on the solo player than on the team. The reason is that teams do not stay together for long in this case. Whether because of personality conflicts, real life commitments or a changing meta, you see different teams come and go. That would make a team league difficult.
For solo, I do see the value. I’d like to see something shorter term where people really need to participate every week in order to do well.
I’ll be blunt here. There are very specific reasons.
1. The mass majority of people like to zerg. They feel safer in numbers and want to play that way. Upper tiers have the biggest zergs.
2. Upper tiers have much more well coordinated large group fights. This became much more evident when eotm launched. It is crazy how much lower the play quality is on eotm vs my regular server.
Bottom line… if you want to zerg, go high level. If you want to roam, go mid tier. Roaming doesn’t really exist in upper tiers. It is more small group fights.
lol. warrior weak. It is one of the top 2 group fight classes and have some major solo roam troll specs. It’s really strong.
If you took away the champ bags or whatever loot then people will no longer bother to do the event and you’ll be in an even worse situation. People need an incentive to continue doing an event after they have experienced it enough times and/or gotten the achievements.
This ^^
@OP:
You are actually incorrect. GC eles or mesmers can burst done someone else just as quickly as a thief. The main different is that those classes have other specs they can use. You just see a lot of GC thieves because there aren’t any other viable specs at upper levels of play.
Just proves this map is unbalanced. Removing the ability to transform is a start, but the orb carrier shouldn’t be able to use any of their regular skills.
Another idea could be that when you pick up the orb, you automatically are set to 15,000 HP and 3000 toughness. That would make it totally fair. Same HP, same toughness, and no skills/utlities.
So, a while back I used to see them quite a bit at lower levels of solo queue. Over the past few days, I am seeing them a lot more even in the top 1000. What is going on here?
Except decay doesn’t work that way. You will drop by not playing, but then once you play another game, you will have a major jump back up the rankings, win or lose.
You are a ranger. Search for spirit ranger build and run that. It’s super easy to play and you’ll get the hang of it after a few matches.
Your issue is that you are probably trying the play the class as a RANGER. In this game, it is much stronger as a melee spirit build.
As much as A-Net been telling players to use up their glory boosters, I can tell you that 99% of the players just simply do not play sPvP enough to use up their boosters. I’ve been getting em on a daily basis after you removed tickets and still got 500 left over. No I do not have enough time or want to spend all day sPvP only, but I’m definitely disliking your approach to “tough love” on how you are going to deal with it (being they’re going to be worthless+unexchangeable".
Maybe if you stopped giving em out along with achievement chests, BL chests I wouldn’t have so many.
Well said. Hopefully ANET changes course and does the right thing here.
They told us March in a previous Ready up, but it seems as if that is no longer the case. An update would be nice.
Yes, it is super easy to carry your team as a decap or a bunker engi. Totally OP right now.
Of course once you break into the top 1000 or so, you actually need to have some skill to do well.
I believe they announced in a ready up broadcast that the feature match was going to be in march, but they didn’t specific which date.
@devon,
Yes, I believe that a reset on Friday and Monday at one hour past server reset is ideal. It will add a lot more excitement to WvW.
As for the scaling creatures, it’s a nonfactor for me. I don’t play WvW for the NPCs; I play it to fight other people.
As others have said…. meteor shower is the only OP aoe skill. As for barrage, the biggest defense is retal. It will practically kill a ranger (as it should).
Rewatch some of the past tournaments on twitch. There is more than just picking the classes.
If you really care about getting up on the ranking, there are specific times to queue and not to queue to increase your odds for both solo and team.
and what times are those?
Allie Murlock says there will only be glory booster removal at 18th – big balance.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/pvp/March-18th-Glory-change-FAQ/firstDoes this mean there is no balance patch in march ? If yes RIP Gw2
Huh? Read the title of her post again. GLORY CHANGE. It isn’t about any of the other items in the release.
This is a laughable excuse. This is what the gem store is here for and believe me when I tell you a LOT of people buy gems. Even I do regularly. They need to prioritize.
?
Welcome to the world of American business??Just because you spend money on a game doesn’t mean the powers the be think it’s worthwhile to reinvest that money into the game…
You’re just lining their pockets and confirming the notion that people will pay for hope… hope that the product they bought will eventually be worth their time and money…GW2 was probably considered a flop by the higher ups in alpha, the game was released half finished and has had EXTREMELY minimal support since then (I bet they only have part time coders for GW2, people they occasionally move over from other projects to tweak things in this game).
You win for worst post of the day
No. Because where does it end?
PvE? What type? Leveling, dungeons, fractals, living story events? All have different specs that work best
PvP? hot join vs solo queue vs tourny. Again different specs work best
WvW? Roaming, small ground, zerg? All have different specs.
As I’ve said, as long as the elite notes were fake, I am happy. We definitely could use some new elites, but those were a total fail.
Sigh. You don’t get it. ANET needs to make a game that a majority of players want to play. PvP is not as successful as everyone hoped. Why?
Here are some great ideas:
1. Don’t start solo or team queue when it is 4v5
2. Don’t have solo queue matches where 3 of one class is on one team and the other team has none of that class.
Really groundbreaking stuff here.
Wilderness experts should be masters of poisons. Therefore, Rangers should have the most potent poisons available.
Great point here and I agree. I would be awesome to see a way to increase poison potency for the Ranger and it’s something we’ve been talking about internally as well. We’ll keep looking into it and see if there’s something that can happen here.
If they become even better at poisons then the spirit ranger build definitely needs nerfs. That’s mostly a condi spec. I’d like to see the shortbow become the best ranger condi weapon.
This is the number 1 most requested feature. ANET listened and instead decided to remove all the glory and rewards from PvP.
stop crying. its a cyber 50% boost in a video game. seriously why are people winge-ing about this so hard?
Well, if you ever get a lot, you will understand.
and do explain this… why should someone play pvp when there are no rewards? I’m sure your comment made sense in your head, but you really need to think before replying.
Pleeeeeeeeeease spend more time on #1 then just saying “We are removing glory and increasing rank points and that’s all we can say for now”. Just my opinion after the last ready up.
This is in response to the FAQ on the glory booster remover.
An item that you both sold and provided as a reward is being discontinued. Here is what you do not understand…. some of us have so many of these glory boosters that it isn’t possible to use them all up. There is no good reason why we cannot trade these in. So what if others have used them up. I would as well if I didn’t have so many. It is only fair that you allow people to get something for these.
and btw, ANET really needs to think through this whole remove glory as a reward and give us nothing in return concept. For some of us, rank means nothing. It is not an incentive to play. Phase out glory when you have something new to use as an incentive.
So disappointing.
Better proposal… instead of spending time trying to figure out leagues, why not figure out how to prevent 4v5 matches.
I disagree that the orb needs to be a transform for equal play because its being viewed from the scope of only having one game mode. One day we might even get build templates.
Huh? That doesn’t make any sense. This is a conquest game mode. Make the orb so that there isn’t an advantage to any class.
Think about it this way…. doing this also then opens the door to other game modes like CTF. CTF is not feasible as long as certain classes are better at orb running than others.
