I am hopeful it doesn’t destroy them as some don’t deserve it, but on the other hand they put up with it which means they’ve accepted it as being perfectly fine and normal.

I hope all of the guilds that transferred to your server get locked in, and they close server transfers, or at least make them cost money. I’m sure your WvW experience will suck with long queue’s etc. Have fun with that.

So you say they don’t have any honor because they spawn camp you when they can, or because you have to go against larger numbers. Well, hate to break it to you, but this is what happens in other tiers. Be that as it may though, I find it “interesting” that you wish so many bad things on them.

What does it say about your own honor ?

They can’t be on all maps all the time. So go where they are not, if it’s a problem. See how they play and what their style is, read their movements and counteract them. That’s how it works, that what makes this all fun.

It is, after all, a game, a past time we all use to have fun and enjoy ourselves.

I kinda wish Mekanos would cheer up too and I am not for wishing miserable experiences on others.

OK in response to this thread regarding what Dred or Nytemyst posted. PRO is NOT and I REPEAT NOT transferring servers, OUR GUILD IS STAYING ON Devonas. This post by Dred last night was a practical joke or early April fools prank that he felt was going to be amusing. For anyone who has witnessed Dreds forum posting habits you know he is full of hot air most of the time and that he shouldn’t be taken too seriously with many things.

PRO is on DR to stay, and if it wasn’t I would not have spent so much time trying to build an alliance with other DR guilds, don’t take the words of one player to stand for the consensus of our entire guild.

Shaka, nothin against you. What lil’ complaints I have aren’t against you but this week I just want to vent to servers that are thinking about transfers.

It’s really juts prompted by the WM leader saying stuff like “We’re just a small guild” when he’s got more active WvW players than my entire server has or the RE guy saying “Support us!”. Support you at what? Steam rolling us this week so that we can be steamroller by the next sever transfers some weeks from now asking us to support them finding a home again? It’s silly and clueless and I wish guilds looking for a home would give it more thought than “We don’t like how we’re doing, let’s race our way up 4-5 tiers in lopsided matches”.

I mean, I’m sorry about the size discrepancy between us and Henge of Denravi. But that’s different, we have no where else to go and they don’t either (seems like they have a bit more people than the folks in tier but none of that was the conscious decision of some guilds to move for their luls.

All I want is for someone transferrin a guild to read this and put a lil’ more thought to it rather than move to a tier they don’t belong and then complain about what big sacrifice they are by making themselves bored in lopsided victories.

I have no complaints about Kaineng who fought hard and organized themselves and built a server that’s better than mine. Props to you guys.

It would only take a few of those AR primetime guilds to xfer to make the difference.

Sadly (since it’s not a terrible idea) most AR guilds are also built upon server loyalty, and we’ll be keeping it that way for the foreseeable future. All servers have some players and guilds that they wouldn’t mind losing, though. Perhaps they should all transfer to GoM to pick that one back up.

I dont think anyone is critisizing you guys who have stuck with your server and worked hard. Personally I’ve stuck with GOM despite it being dismal in almost every way in WvW. I made my character on this server and dont intend to play the flipper game.

I think the anger is directed at the big guilds who switch servers and wreck it for everyone. Stick with your server, deal with the issues. Flipping is like a 10th grade kid heading over the the first grade and beating everyone up.

This is not what this is about.

RE actually had the intent to move to Ferg to bring it up, but we know we needed a night presence as well for a solid alliance. When we heard WM moved to Kain, we came here because being the last big NA Primetime WvW guild left on a server will not cut it in T5-T4. No matter how big RE is, we are not a 24 hour WvW guild, and we have felt the pain of not having one.

We came here to help bring it up in the tiers, we are starting from scratch here just as SE and WM did, please try to show support if you can, atm we still feel like outsiders, and I can imagine how WM is feeling too. Please, if yall dont mind, we are only trying to help bring this server up.

You don’t get it. For you it’s “Join low level server, roll faces for a few weeks and be bored with easy victories and then find your tier”. For us, we’re already in our tier and all we get is every few weeks some bored and thoughtless higher tier guild decides to make a project out of a lower tier server.

We’re gonna stick out because we have no choice, you’ll be gone next week, and next month someone’s gonna be making a project out of some other server and this bottom tiers will be kittened up again and they’ll be on the forums “Hey, we totally did this to us and you but it’s hard on us too!”.

Hell, we haven’t even settled these tiers yet. We outnumber Henge of Denravi quite a bit.

I had a lot of fun in Gates of Madness borderlands yesterday too (I mean, other than it was us trying to hold only 1 tower and this morning I wake up to holding nothing and another set of excuses from guilds who transferred to the tier that would be the most damaging to the match ups). Really, you all know what tier you belong in and 8th wasn’t it.

We’ll give you guys a good fight next week but its pretty saddening to be (this week) fighting against Darkhaven who are clearly an empty shell and a shadow of what they used to be I hadn’t quite realised the extent of what had happened to good’ole DH which used to fight Dragonbrand with us ;_;
We’ll do our best to help them this week. No worries guys. They might still be around to face you next week.
Maybe we can test the metal of Kainengs Oceanics against NSP steel. Not sure if you’ve fought a server which still has a working Night crew yet.

Wish you good luck! Kaineng seems to have 30+ people on at least 3 maps and some pretty smart and fast commanders. It always seemed like Northern Shiverpeaks mostly worked one map or two maps a time.

I hope it’s a better match up than this one.

To the game’s credit, this is the only match up that is lopsided though.

I don’t think I’ve seen WM’s warband yet myself, but from what I’ve seen of some of their people I’m not too worried at all.

WM is not large guild, just have 100 member.
But our role will be bigger.

If you can put more than 10 people on a WvW map, you’re bigger than any Gates of Madness WvW guild I know.

Edit: I don’t mean to sound like I’m complaining. RH had a lot of great fights yesterday in our borderland. This morning everything is blue and has waypoints so that saved me some gold upgrading.

Ferum and Saria head up the commanders guild. If they’re still not off on holidays, be like “What’s up with all these commanders?”. We have a lot of newer commanders and I don’t always understand what they’re doing but it’s not like I’m a smart guy.

build intention: high survivability, high sustained cond damage, high burst condition damage
sustained damage with staff bleeds/burns,
burst damage with confusion (scepter, torch, shatters)

have used this for the last weeks and I’m feeling a little bit overpowered in small skirmishes from 1vs3 to 5vs15. especially with the recent “shattered strentgh” buff.

stats with exotic gear (excluding rings and accessories) is about 2800 armor, 45%crit, 2000 cond damage (with 25 stack sigil, without might stacks), 16k hp.

-you are very hard to take down (high armor, 1200 blink, low cd phase retreat, chaos armor, storm, 3 stealths………)
-deal very good sustained cond damage and insane confusion burst damage (3k-8k confusion ticks).
-you can take fortified camps solo, can roam behind enemy line (a lot of stealth)

I don’t want to sound conceited but I can’t remember being stomped or downed in a 1vs1. And you can bring pain in group fights. People tend to ignore conditions when they feel safe, for example in a 2vs6 situation. And suddenly half their team is gone because they hit themselves with 5k confusions :P

I just wanted to follow up on this post. I tried the build as I’ve been doin a lot of solo roaming and I like it a lot better than the shattercat.

Things I like
-With shattercat I haven’t won any 2v1 but with this I’ve been able to do 2v1 (even a couple 3v1 against some under level’ed folk).
-Hundred blades warriors just sort of go “poof”.
-I generally have felt favoured against other mesmers, even shatter ones.
-Yay toughness, I find I end the fight with more hit points than usual

Some criticism
-Being a condition build, it is terrible against siege weapons. Boo.
-I can’t seem to win against condition thieves (regular thieves are no problem) – the sort of pistol thief that pops in and out of stealth. While they’re stealthed, the confusion does nothing and with only 1 AoE and no melee attack, you can’t do anything against them while they’re stealthed. Also all your auto-attacks are incredibly slow. I’m 0-3 against these guys (even when one started the fight with 10% health) and can’t think of anything. Maybe arcane thievery but since I never need that against anyone else I never have it
-Confusion.. is an interesting condition. It requires them to do things, so if someone is backing off after they get a bunch of confusion, the confusion is wasted. It’s useless against dolyaks or people who are just running away.
-With no air/centaur runes, prepare to just let some folk get away and if someone is determined to catch you and there’s no where to hide with your invisibility then they’re going to catch you
-Scepter autoattack is pretty weak for damage, it’s very sad

We’ll see how we fare against SF. We haven’t faced them recently (if ever).

Population aside, we are actually pretty bad at WvW.

Gates should be attacking Shiverpeaks. Stories about how we are taking Anvil territory just help explain why Shiverpeaks is pulling ahead.

To be fair, there isn’t a time during the day that isn’t “IN THE MIDDLE OF A SIEGE”.

WvW is a lot of map reading and terrain that isn’t apparent if you’re just following someone around without trying to look at the big picture. A lotta conversations with leaders in my guild kinda showed me what sort of decisions go into where to go and how to get there. Often the fight once you get there is just the punctuation at the end of the sentence if you planned right.

If you’re interested in seeing what the charm is, go with your guildies and try to make your own decisions on where to go on the map and see how they match up with what they are doing.

He’s invulnerable in spawn too. Also in Lion’s Arch. We can’t let this stand.

Match seems pretty good so far. Things are going much better for Gates of Madness than the last time we fought Anvil Rock (probably because Northern Shiverpeaks is putting out a lotta pressure everywhere, haha). Also had a couple fun breakout events.

I’m actually really pleased with the fight as it is. GoM moving up a tier is definitely scary to everyone considering how much of a PvE server we’ve become. You guys really put up a good fight.

NSP – That was a dirty move spawn camping us in EB at reset. Nice try though. Keep zerging it up. 50 defending a supply camp was pretty funny to see. Especially when we went to attack it and the moment I hit the quartermaster 50 of you rendered in and destroyed our group of 15 + 5 golems. I think I’ll enjoy this week.

AR – what happened? I haven’t seen a single humongous zerg from you guys! The one large group I did see let 5 of us stop you from taking Umberglade. Come on, guys. I expect a better fight out of you.

Congratulations to Commander Rapidspeed and my other 15 GOM Servermates on using a terrain exploit to bypass the outer wall at the Lowlands Keep. Because taking a non reinforced and undefended Keep is just too hard I suppose. And another bravo to Rapidspeed for actually showing everyone else how to do it. Pathetic. I think the opposite. It’s the PvP gear that should be removed. You work hard to get the exact look and stats you want, but you can’t use that in PvP?

I very much enjoy how unique each build can be for WvW. In PvP it’s all the same and it’s pretty boring because of it.

I think the problem I have with this is the word “work”. I don’t ever want to “work” in my gaming time. I just want to be and have fun. When I PvP, like in sPvP, I just want to have all the functionality right away. Earning gears and skills is a PvE concept.

I think PvE gear is fine in WvW though. WvW isn’t about fairness. It’s all about asymmetric fights (trebs versus walls, people inside keeps against people outside keeps, people with ballistas against people running at ballistas, that sort of thing) that what gear you wear makes only a difference on the tiniest scale (it helps that gear doesn’t even change much thanks to all the upscaling). Plus it is interchangeable with PvE progress so you don’t have to do PvE all the time to progress your character which is nice.

ASH guild folk are hot stuff.

this is what always confused me about pve only players:
zhaitan doesn’t care if you’re shiny or not, but your server could use the help. i’ve said that sentence to one or two major pve guild leaders and what i got back was ’we’d rather pve’
the point is you’re going to have to make them believe being from GoM is different than being from JQ or something.

Not everyone finds the same things fun and that’s okay. To get people to start to WvW, we have to show how fun it can be. Not like “Yeah, just hop in and run around aimlessly” but in a “We’re a lean mean disciplined hold-the-line take-the-objective I-was-born-to-do-carpentry-in-the-snow machine”.

He/she is on a regular character, just happens to be in the ArenaNet guild (so probably is a real employee). When you represent that guild you get the ArenaNet icon. Nothin suspicious here, just ArenaNet playing their own game (that’s cool, right?).

I started eating food for buffs in WvW ‘cause I’m too lazy to hide myself among my clones.
