Kensai, the way to do that is to show real facts, good gameplay, and promote discussion … not make wild claims, lack facts, and show horrible gameplay and claim it’s good.
Havent seen anything from you yet.
Always trying to turn it around to distract from the fact that you’ve got nothing eh kensai. Nice try.
Havent seen anything from you either
That would be because I’m not the one making the crazy claims see how this works yet?
see how this works yet?

I get this often during CoF 1 runs, to fix it you have to got to your hero window (usually H) and click on the switch weapons with your mouse. I’m not sure what causes it.
I can confirm that this fix works, and what causes it is the cinematic.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
Just skim read this, looks promising, will have to give this a try in a bit. Really wanna move away from the traps and try something new :P

Bloody single-digit ranking pvp theorycrafting.
The crap that this carebear casual community lets slide is ridiculous. Mock him for god’s sake.
What? People who aren’t a high rank aren’t allowed to theorycraft now?
Well kitten, I missed the latest edition of ‘Pvp for self esteem and vanity’ monthly magazine.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
Well saved. However as someone who used to have a MF set to take advantage of CoF drones, it takes nothing to ping your regular gear and keep wearing MF.
I can usually tell as it’s a 4 man team of people I’m always playing with, if someone isn’t pulling their weight. We know how long things should take. We’ve seen it all.. People who ping their arah set then wear a set of MF rares once in, we have seen people who even go to the trouble of having two sets of COF gear, one magic find and one zerkers. Etc.
Usually it’s easy to tell because they are wearing a different skin, in the case of the people with identical skin sets it’s usually down to when the sigil of luck pops up, when they are continuously dieing or when we see them solo dpsing a mob and it’s rotten.
Of course it’s harder to find out, but in most cases we do.
This doesn’t happen often though because I find people who are running magic find either aren’t smart enough to use the same skins for both sets or have enough brains to know that when someone’s gear checking it’s a good idea to avoid that group or do the right thing and take the correct gear.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
When I run this on glass cannon ranger he always focuses on me and no-one else. I figure its got something to do with either DPS or armour rating.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
Doesn’t take too long to get a group for it usually, but you can sure see there are alot less people doing it. I think it’s a combination of added length of time to get it done, and new mechanics that people don’t want to have to face.
It’s still easy but I stopped doing it on a daily basis because it takes longer than it did before and I’d rather do HOTW/SE/Arah. by the same merit though, why do any of these dungeons atm when there is COF P1?
well for me, Cof is just too mind-numbingly boring for me to handle >_< But I’m sure that COF1, for some people, validates their reason for not touching AC anymore.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
I don’t get why ArenaNet always takes years to make a LFG tool. They had the same delay in Guild Wars 1. Intially there was no such tool there either and when it finally came out not many people used it.
Yeh only time it ever came in handy was when everyone flocked to do DWG/Glaiveway or sinway DOA. Things like Deep and Urgoz, you’d either heroway or rely on the guild chat and friends list. I feel like the lack of the system and/or people using it impacts on what people wanna do.
Back in GW1 I’d wanna do a deep run and none of my friends were on, it was impossible to pug, so I’d just go to DOA instead.
Luckily we have Gw2lfg.com for now, but an ingame system really needs to get added soon!
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
I think they’ll just add more AR items/infusion slots what have you, over time, and so eventually we’ll be able to do 50, and so on. Just gotta wait for em I suppose.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
Yes, it would be nice if it teleported your dead body out of the lava and onto land somewhere.

Take out reliance on pet. Problem solved imo.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
My favourites are guys who fill the party chat with “WTF” “what are you doing?” “What”.
Also Swiftpaw, you kind of strike me as an elitist scumbag, and there is a very good reason you’re having to 4 man FotM. Any 5th member who sees the other four are from the same guild is an idiot to stay. Sorry but, four regular players who are chatting over ts3, things aren’t looking too good for the 5th…
Find a 5th guildie and stop tormenting PuG’ers.
It’s almost as if you didnt read what I just said :/
*sigh *
We don’t even need a 5th. And we dont ‘have to’ 4 man fotm or any dungeon for that matter. We choose to. We ask for a geared, after about 10 mins if no-one joins we just 4 man it. We don’t appreciate magic find leechers in dungeons and would rather just 4 man. At the end we will put an ad up for someone in need or get a friend to join in the 5th slot and get the reward.
Usually though, we get our geared 5th and we are on our way no problems. I’m not going to call you a ‘scumbag’ but you’re certainly someone I wouldn’t add because you lack respect for those who wish to give the dungeon their best, and expect that from those who knowingly join a geared team.
Also not sure how I’m ‘tormenting’ pugs by asking them to ping their gear before we start. Usually they do without a problem, we get the run done fast and they often times friend us and ask for runs in the future. Having them ping means we don’t have any issues once we enter. We know exactly what the pug is running from the get go, and if we don’t like it, we kick him before we enter. This way I’m not wasting their time, and they are not wasting ours.
I afford a very high level of tolerance to pugs because I feel (personally) that it is my team and that I am responsible for the most part, for how the run goes. If they ping their set and it’s fine, we enter and they kitten up, make a mistake or have not done something before, I am happy to forgive them and explain what needs doing. Not only this, but often times I invite them onto my TS or vent. Usually they don’t want to join but that’s fine, we just like to socialize. If the opposite happens, if I or one of my friends makes a mistake, I apologize to the pug. I afford them the same respect I would want.
I honestly do not think this is scumbag behaviour.
Oh and we aren’t in the same guild either
The groups consists of me, my boyfriend, and two of my good friends. They are all in different guilds.
The amount of assumptions in that post was too kitten high!

-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
When joining a party you usually get a few red flags. The first is the lfg post if you use that site. If it has any specific requirements (all exotics, must be level 80, needs x amount agony resistance, must be experienced, speed run, no noobs, only warriors or guardians, must have story mode etc) I will try to ignore it unless I am desperate. These kinds of people are usually terrible at dungeons and need to rely on crutches like tanks, outgearing content or superior players than themselves to carry them through. Even if I am optimally geared running an optimal build with tonnes of experience and one of the most efficient classes I stay far away from them. They are usually bad experiences to group with.
I am one of those people who runs a geared group of 4, we are all in voice com and we want 1 more to go, usually at fotm 40+. We are not a charity. We do not carry anyone, and we do not expect to be carried. We run the most optimal builds and gear sets and have geared alts on hand if the situation requires. We advertise for geared only, and we gear check. This is usually to avoid magic finders, we aren’t all that selective past that, just be in exotics.
I am rather tired of all this talk about ‘oh you’re just elitist scumbags.’ or ’
Oh you’re just bad and need compensation.’
No. We spent the time to make sure we are at our best gear wise and performance wise, and it’s only fair we expect the same of whoever we take.
If we cannot find that geared 5th, we just 4 man it with little issue, it just takes longer.
to OP-
Thing about pugging with anyone, be it guild team or randoms.. it’s a mixed bag, you never know what you’re getting. Many times I jump into a group and its freaking awful, and I usually start with a helpful tip…if it’s ignored I don’t bother saying anything else. Many people don’t see a helpful tip as helpful, no matter how subtle or polite you try to be about it, and they will react as if they have been criticized. It’s best to just go with it. If they are bad to the point of wasting your time, just leave.
Other times I get groups that are kitten awesome, although they are few and far between when it comes to pugs. Most times you can expect to get acceptable teams, either with average players all round, or bad players mixed with enough good players to pull through. Just gotta take the good with the bad sometimes. I always try to be the best player to make whatever pug I join as smooth as I can and will switch to differing classes and gear setups dependant on the team’s class makeup, dps and survivability.
Part of the reason a team is good or bad is also up to you, so always do your best.

I agree, ranger really needs split skills for not only wvw/pve but spvp as well.
hopefully this means more team oriented skills for PVE.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
There’s alot of talent on here and I’m not the best by a long shot, but here is my work XD
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
The other day I was in a COE on my guardian and we had a guy in full magic find. What ended up happening? I had to switch out to my glass cannon warrior to compensate for the lack of dps.
As it was a pug it wasn’t my job to kick such a person, but it sure as hell isn’t fair on anyone. If it was my group I’d kick them in seconds.
Tired of having to compensate for selfish behaviour. Not everyone wants to be in the dungeon longer just for your rare drops. Do it with other magic finders, not with people who just want to get kitten cleared.
I don’t believe I’ve seen ‘Magic finders dungeon run!’ in gw2lfg. Better get to it.

No response probably increases the likelihood that changes to this are not on the cards atm. However, they probably have read this.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
if that were the case, I would just stop doing dungeons.
Interesting, may I ask why? Is it so much worse to be getting a rare from the end of a dungeon run instead of 26s?
I’m not saying you’d be wrong for doing so, I would just be interested in being enlightened on your opinion.
because market would be overflown by rares more than it is right now and their price would drop down from 19s to 5s making it even harder to make money.
Not only this, but I want a guaranteed reward for my time, not a chance at one. If I salvage that rare, there’s a chance I get nothing, there’s a chance I get something. I do not need dungeon tokens. If I sell it, the price fluctuates, and as said above, it will be worth less. I don’t do dungeons to gamble or play the trading post. I do them for a guaranteed reward.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
if that were the case, I would just stop doing dungeons.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
I run with 3 friends, our party is usually 4/5. They are close friends and we are always on voice com.. but you would never know, because we are all in different guilds, including my bf.
Pugs never have an issue with us unless they run magic find or screw with the team.
I don’t think anything would change if we were in the same guild.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
So where are these pro videos? Lots to say and nothing to show?
I think we found whats wrong with this community.
lol.
You make the claims. You can’t back them up with video evidence. Then you go off at anyone who questions you and you tell them to disprove your silly arguments with evidence. Oh the irony.
Firstly, who claimed they were a pro ranger?
Secondly. Still waiting on that ‘godly’ ranged DPS video of yours.
Thirdly, if people don’t respond to you, it doest automatically = you’re right.
People just want this thread to die because it is not constructive. You have no basis to any of your outlandish claims and this thread has become an embarrassment to the ranger community.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
no offence bro, but you are a really bad guardian – Trollhammer.
Now while he’s said some rather questionable things about mace and great sword, there’s no need to say that.I don’t see the difference. If the guy tries to teach people how to play specific profession while displaying some pretty silly ideas about that profession, then he is bad at it. It doesn’t mean he is a bad person, just a bad player. One can get offended at it all they want, frankly I don’t give a kitten.
Well I arrived at the same conclusion but I figure telling him that wont solve anything XD Usually they either ignore you or they spew some other nonsense.
Better to tell him exactly why it is what they are doing is bad.
Imo, why is he running all this so called support with mace and shield if dungeons are not challenging? if they are so easy then maybe he should be running a more optimized build? aka damage spec?
The excuse may be ‘well my team is bad so therefore I need to keep them up.’. well that’s all very well and good, but you may have an easier time of it with greatsword as you have added crowd control. You shield only serves to scatter mobs out of aoe and the few select times when you think you need it to res someone do not justify the other 95% of the time when you wont be using it. The damage from it is poor, and rarely are people going to be standing in front of you to take the protection buff, in most cases you would have to either turn around and hope people are close enough, or walk over to them, usually bringing mobs with you which rather defeats the purpose. The GS’s Aoe blind prevents an attack from all the mobs you just binded in and pulled, couple that with justice, that’s 2 blinds right there.. trait it right, and everytime you kill a mob (easy when they are all on you) Justice refreshes, you have an AOE blind machine. Not to mention you are doing alot more damage.
Preventing Damage is always better than trying to heal it up afterwards.

Drakehound Vs. Hyena. which one’s the better option?
Im running drakehound and regular (fear F2) wolf atm.
Edit-
Also, conditions duration increase by 50%, I assume is malicious training? my only issue with that is that it’s down the marksmanship tree.
The only thing Hyena is good for is a double knockdown, at which point its usefulness ends because it has horrid base attack power. Just my opinion. All the other dogs are relatively good sources of constant damage as they attack quickly and have high power with modest precision.
You only need 10 Marksmanship for the trait. What is your current setup?
Yeh tried out the hyenas last night, wasn’t really impressed. Still prefer Drakehound.

Again, let’s stop this thread guys. It’s KensaiZen disagreeing with anything that isn’t someone agreeing with him … i.e. KensaiZen disagreeing with everything/everyone.
Kensai, it’s not about damage. It’s about having an impact through boon application, crowd control, heals, damage, etc.. Your video shows you providing nothing but out of combat rezzing with your pet while you stand at a safe distance, horrible direct damage from your longbow, and you not even knowing how to make use of spirits in WvW.
The only troll here is KensaiZen. Let’s ignore him
Yes, well I’m sort of torn you see.
He writhes like a cut snake everytime someone questions him. I’m not sure if he’s a troll or just genuinely fanatic about the class to the point of delusion.
According to him, we are the trolls… and well, it rather intrigues me.

When I’m on guardian and I run glass he takes little interest in me, when I run knight’s he has tunnel vision.. maybe it is just my luck hehe.

i was talking WvW seeing as the video was done in WvW. Got to love you trolls.
How about each one of you do a video of your skills in WvW for all of us noobs to be amazed at. Maybe then i will know where i am going wrong
You seem a little angry. Take into account he said back-line. back line fotm, back line WvW, same diff.
It’s really not. When I run ranger in WvW I almost always get targeted first by skirmishers that run to the back line because they know most rangers are glass and will be downed in seconds. When they discover I don’t run glass in WvW and they can’t down me in a single combo (which they can to most glass rangers) they usually end up dead. A lot of thieves will try this because hey know they can do it safely because of stealth. The back line in a PvE scenario is almost never going to be the same as one in a PvP scenario.
Welp,. I dont have issue with either, I’m generally pretty aware in a wvw situation. Yes there are those people, just watch for them and move. I’m not going to just stand there and pew pew :/ Yeh they are different but I die about the same in either situation.

Don’t be stupid. It’s like saying Guardians shouts are rubbish because anyone outside of 900 range wont get buffed. same with every other class that does buffs.
Once again another troll reply.
facepalm No it’s not. Why do I even try with you? A guardian can run wherever he wants before he pops his shout and will live much longer than your uber pet. Not to mention Guardian shouts do more than one buff at a time.
If you want to control who gets your pet buffs then you’ll literally have to call your pet back and run to the area where you want the buff to be popped or settle on the fact that only people within melee range of the boss will be getting it (so much for your so-called 1500 range buff). In most of your videos you aren’t even using a pet that gives worthwhile buffs to begin with so why do you keep harping on the awesome support?
Any buffs that a pet may give is a nicety that can’t be counted on as true “support” since it’s not something to you can rely on (slow cast times, poor pet control, poor pet survivability, etc…).
Also, lulzy video. Keep posting the comedy gold for us.
Guardians run to within 900 of someone… what about the other people NOT in 900 range of that person? they will not get the buff.
you have melee and you have ranged. You can only buff 1 unless the ranged stays mid range. Completely missing the point of the pet buff mechanic.
GuardiansPets run to within 900 of someone… what about the other people NOT in 900 range of that person? they will not get the buff.See what I did there.
If pets buffed people better than Guardians the entire min-max crowd would be all over that and we rangers would have 0 problems getting into groups but they don’t because the very idea is ridiculous.
And please stop raving about SaR. Unless you are pushing a point on an opposing side right before the tick, it will take less time to release and run back (for free mind you). Lying dead on the ground when time is not an issue is the sign of a bad player and one should not reward them for being bad.
Never mind you siting on top of a long cool down when you could be setting traps or using muddy for a mass immobilize/cripple.
Now heres the difference. The Ranger is still plinking away at the target whilst the pet is buffing. The guardian has to disengage, run, buff, engage. To maintain combat effectiveness.
I assume you are speaking of spvp when you say push a point. We already know trappers and BM are very powerful there. In WvW not having to drop and pick up people is amazingly powerful (not to mention you can also res aswell to make it even faster) in zerg vs zerg its all about momentum. If you can keep your zerg alive longer. The enemy zerg will collapse. This is why GC are so bad in zerg warfare. You drop. Well, there goes you amazing DPS.
The pet mechanic is PART of the class. You are comparing it to the entire class of a Guardian. Where is the logic?
Pet+ranger pet+ranger pet+ranger
You seem to have forgotten that guardians have scepters which work perfectly fine in dungeons so there is no downtime while they move where they want. Also GC is only bad if you’re a bad player. GC is perfectly viable in back line builds such as rangers provided you have at least some situational awareness.
I myself have no problem staying alive on GC ranger, even at fotm 30+. Agreed.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
careful now, give it a few hours and the ‘rangers are amazing at everything’ dreamteam will be up and ready to defend.
O.o I hope this isn’t aimed at me because I say rangers are good… Now I’m curious to see whose oblivious/ignorant enough to think rangers are amazing at everything because we’re certainly lacking in a few areas (but make up in others).
No not you, you’ve got a rational head on your shoulders I have found. There’s nothing wrong with talking about the merits of the class. There are a few (who I wont name) however who are just a tad fanatic and wont accept any criticism at all, no matter how valid.

A guardians, using:
a sword and torch – Bad
greatsword. – Good
Healing Breeze. – Bad
Save yourself. – Fine, removes condis, grants u fury for more crits, grants you a good heal. If running soldiers and there is ample fury in your party, one could argue its not worth taking, but it has it’s place.
Signet of judgement. -Bad
Smite Condition – Bad
Hounds of balthazar, – Very Bad
and using the passive effect of Virtue of justice. – Bad, but at least he’s using his other virtues which majority of pugs dont touch at all.

one of the weakness’s i find with rangers is our inability to get boons by any substantial means
Might is a prime example of this, other then Call of the Wild (and Rampage as One) we don’t really have a solid source of getting might.
We’re just light period on Boons
mhm well there’s the jungle stalker also but it’s either too far away from u or it’s taking forever to cast the kitten thing.

where are your wvw videos that will put all the ranger qq to rest?
love,

Will you send me the gold thst is needed to lvl and equip all the toons?
WvW video is finished and will be uploaded soon.
In the mean time. How about you help me gather the number ranges so it wouldnt take 3 months to do.
just saw this.
you have access to spvp so stop making excuses. you made the claims so you figure it out.
additionally, all you are doing is yapping away and tossing out insults to a more experienced group of players while not providing any concrete evidence to back up anything you have said. it is obvious that you are trying to aggravate the ranger community and this thread serves 0 purpose as it stands.
go spend more time with your family and less time trying to be an internet cool guy.
The response to this is going to be priceless, I can tell.

RNG is working as intended. It just sucks. :P
Wait till they release new content, then fotm wep skin drop rate will magically increase, or they will add another way to get them.
Why? My opinion-
1.) There’s quite alot of people who are playing more than the average gamer, me included. And we’ve run out of PVE content. We have our legendaries, we have all the gear sets for all our alts. We have nothing to work towards in PvE, and there’s quite a good portion of us who wont want to do WvW or sPvP. All that’s keeping us playing is Fractals skins, it’s the only elusive goal left. And with drop rates this low and this random, we could be at it for quite some time.. this gives A-Net plenty of time to create new PvE content for the future. Of course quite a few of my mates have quit simply because even these new skins don’t interest them, or they have already attained them.
2.) once new PvE content is out, many of us will abandon fotm for the new content in the hopes of it being more rewarding for our time. Not only this, but omg shiny brand new content! When they notice this, they may then alter the RNG for fractals skins acquisition or add new ways to acquire them through the instance. We all remember back when fotm first came out and the rares dropped like candy in there.. A-Net realised that this caused players to stop doing the other dungeons and just do fotm because it was so profitable. They then lowered the drop rates and made alot of crap in there account bound. Now your only reason to even touch fotm is skins. Once new dungeon content is out, I for one wont be interested in fotm at all, they will need to create a real incentive to go back there.
This is all assuming there will be new dungeon content.. which I dont think there will be for a while yet, from what Ive heard so far they just intend to add more fractals to Fotm to make it more exciting….
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
A bad noob usually knows, that he’s bad. He knows, that he’s a burden for the group and I doubt he’s happy about that. Whenever I see such a person, I offer help which is gladly acceptet most of the time.
He sucks because he doesn’t know better and at least he is trying. The good player with MF on the other hand sucks just because he can, fully aware of his failure. (On the other hand, I don’t think that something like a, “good player with MF” exists at all)
So, no. I would rather kick someone with MF then someone without skill/exp.
Yes, let me reitterate on that, I was just being brief because it was a stupid argument put forth to me.
I’m happy to take noobs and people who have never entered any dungeon before, that’s fine. What I expect of them though is this:
1.) exotic gear set or mostly exotics
2.) ability to follow instructions.
he sorta left the door open by saying bad noobs and such so my meaning of kicking is being people who:
1.) intentionally kitten themselves ( and the team) with a bad stat set (magic find) for personal gain.
2.) people who do not listen to instruction.
3.) people who think they can just waltz into an organized dungeon group with crappy blue/green/white whatever gear and no trait setup and just take advantage of others.

After path 1, had someone the other day tell me they weren’t doing path 2, I said ‘why? it’s not hard.’
Answer: ‘it takes too long.’
Well geez by that logic why bother with any dungeon other than COF P1 -_-
He was awful anyway, a guardian who never used his virtues, no loss I suppose :/
What? I find path 1 way harder than 2. Unless there’s some new “easy way” I remember it being impossible without all utilities set to stability and stun breakers.
Oh yes there is a trick to the end of P1 to avoid issues with that silly NPC, although it’s not so bad without the trick.. it’s just if for some reason it screws up (NPCs are idiots) then it becomes a pain.

Yes, many types of boons and CC skills at 1500 range or more (havent checked how far away pets can actually go yet) not to mention actually being able to res DEAD people NOT DOWNED at range.
Got to love trolls with selective memory
You tend to have very selective memory on my previous posts about how even a warrior (which you claim has poor support) has better group affecting utility than a ranger.
Oh and yes, anyone who disagrees with you is a troll. My bad, forgot about that.

no you can’t understand simple concepts. you say ranger is godly at range so you must know max potential ranged dps for all profession in a live environment.
tisk tisk, you keep dodging my wvw question.
so…
what is the max ranged dps output of each profession?
where are your wvw videos that will put all the ranger qq to rest?
Godly at range does not mean DPS only. We’ve covered this already.
Oh right silly me. Keep forgetting im being trolled
Oh yeh, we forgot about all that amazing utility value a ranger brings scoff XD

Like ur idea on the spirits, would be great to have them with 100% chance of granting ‘x’ every ‘x’ amount of seconds, kinds of like guardian virtues imo.
