In wvw we always use it on the run, while the party already has swiftness from static+blast. So in that regard it’s a buff. It was quite annoying to use previously.

In zerg yes.

We are the new necros without damage. If someone see you is matter of time to kill you if you are tank/support and you are alone or far of the group.

My fear is not the nerf, that is ok, that hammer build need a nerf, my fear is that they were not doing a good job in the last month, and they gonna destroy the hammer build at all, make it useless, and forcing some player to farm again another ascended items for another build. That will be a bad nerf.

Maybe if they move UF, I’ll be able to switch my build to Death from Above. I miss that trait.

Also, whatever they do, it won’t change the weapons I use or about 50 of the points I that I trait. Maybe 60. So I’m completely unphased.

I agree with you. It doesn’t do much on one warrior using it. On a hammer there is only 1 ability that stun. I think that when 5 warriors can do CC it become 50% crits chance to anyone who as the trait. The pvp 5 man warrior team really showed that. Lower the crits chance to fit with a T1 skill. It will be still useful just not OP.

hammer F1 apply CC before damage. If you run with fury (30s signet of rage) and 30% critical chance, if the target dont have stability you get always a critical strike on F1 every 7 seconds with 0/10/30/0/30. I hit by 4500 with berserker/cavalier setup every hammer F1 in wvw. That is insane for a opener if you use berserker stance for charge your F1.

A nerf is needed, but if they change UF to other tier you need to readjust all your build and become almost useless after that. All that players who invest in ascended need to farm again your ascended items to get another stats. I dont believe in arenanet know how to do their work, too much disappointed for me with this game about pvp and wvw. They are playing with a meta game balance, where a class is op right now, and up few patch later. Is what all new develop are doing because is what is they learn from design school, and is easy way to keep the game alive. Is like League of Legend, and a lot more games, flavor of the month champions/class games. Warrior was up in the past, now shine, then they go up again and another set of profession rise. That suck.

Any berserker build is selfish in a group. You need to play tanky dps if you run in a coordinate team. When i play with berserkers in my team, we always have a lot of stress on protect him, because the enemy realize he is squishy and focus him, if the enemy team or group is tanky dps, the berserker is always the first down. I think berserker is only for fun and lulz, in real fight you cant do much with berserker, because in a organized team or with good roamers or duelist players they have the enough defensive skill/mechanics to absorb your burst damage.

If you want to be useful in serious roaming team go for healway (search in the forum), or you can use “stunningstyles” build (search it in youtube), or go for a tanky AH build like brutaly (pinned in the forum first page) or commando build (search it in youtube).

Both brutaly AH and Commando build are great for front line zergs too.

I think for a AHEM build you need to be more tanky, because with AH you have a slow sustainability and you have a low armor/low health guardian, you need burst healing. For zerker guardian maybe is better a triple meditation with monk focus. You need judge intervention if you are too squishy, and you need it for nuking focus 5 from 1200 units away.

Also, AH scale pretty bad with healing power.

Virtues are bad if you dont trait it.

If you spend few point to improve it by traits, virtues become in a great skill.

The only buff the virtues needed is on Virtue of Resolve’s passive effects.

PTV or cleric works well in zerg. Empowering might isn’t the best way to survive because you’re left standing on one spot, but is a good way to buff your team when you stack again before pushing. Ah is really good for zerg versus zerg since it heals you, and your main way to heal your team is your mighty blow on waterfields, but you won’t really need to have it.

I’d go with 0/0/30/30/10 – a trusted yet oldy staff guardian build.

Another is 0/0/20/30/20 – so you can get the cleansing from virtues.

The TPVP bunker cleric build is also popular now – 0/0/10/30/30

And if you’re still confused, go with the good ol – 0/5/30/30/5

Since when do you have to stand in one spot to use empowering might..? o_O

It’s empower, which adds might stacks, and we’re talking about guardian. It’s the staff 4 skill. ^.^

If you can move while casting it besides having meditations, it’s pretty nice.

The op is talking about empowering might (honor VIII). Is nice combo with AH but not a great source of healing, if you have nice critical chance you can take it. It helps in sustainability.

But anyway AH+empower (staff #4) heals a LOT, you get a AH tick for every might stack on 5 players around you plus yours stacks. With 900+ healing power you get almost 90 per tick. Trust me, you get a LOT of self healing with that in low cd.

Hmm yea i’ve been thinking of some more DPS based traitlines for Healway…and i’ve experimented with a few Rune sets like Hoelbrak and such, but i feel like I’m just missing to much healing power. (about 1100+ with Hoelbrak Runes and lemon grass) Though I am running 2 Soldiers rings but everything else clerics. I might go soldiers runes again.

Warriors I don’t even see a point in fighting them when Roaming, they have enough swiftness uptime to just leave and they’re just as tanky as I am with the slow big burst damage to boot on hammer. I think i just might be bad at my guardian then..idk. I don’t think i can kill a decently built warrior or a roaming engie, they just have to much sustain and/or mobility for me to deal with.

Also if you run soilder runes for solo play, what do you do for the missing boon duration and healing power?

You can kill warriors with this build, but take time, and GS – Sword/focus is a MUST. You need that extra blinds, blocks and blink that sword focus provide. I duel a lot of warriors and win a lot of fight. You will have bad time vs bow condi bunkers (a lot tanky, regen and kite power) and hammer/mace/shield (you maybe need double stability and a lot of good timing blocks and blinds), but you can still win.

If the warrior is a banner regen or cleric, forget that fight, you cant kill him with this damage.

So that’s an extra 200 health per second to trade of against putting 30 points into a mediocre trait line, getting 2 traits in that line and using 2 mediocre utilities (Sio and FGJ are okish, but there are way better utilities to bring as a warrior). At least, playing pvp/wvw that is.

People use the abbreviation ‘OP’ without knowing what it means.

For a tanky spec 2 shout with soldier runes. SIO remove 2 conditions (and one for allies, plus break stuns), one more for FGJ and you get boons you need to deal damage with PVT/cavalier armor. Plus FGJ is aoe boon (20% critical for 5 allies plus might)

With quick breathing you convert conditions to boons with horn (i run hammer sword/warhorn). Plus the horn #4 remove more conditions.

Adrenal heal, healing signet plus the healings shouts, with 30k health and 3400 armor, with 20% critical (almost perma fury to 40% with FGJ and signet of rage) with 3200 attack damage and 40% critical damage, all CD reduced by traits in utilities and weapons and 450 healing power….

yes, is pretty op for a tank frontline zerg. I survive a LOT (i have a guardian and i survive more than my tanky guardian) and deal a lot more damage.

And the trait line is not mediocre. You can spec banners with that traitline if you need. You know, that kind of buff, debuff, condi removal and that things with coordination wins zergs fights.

I used to play tanky shouts build for front line zerg pre patch.

Right now with 20% reduction, warhorn improv, and healing shouts traits. I heal for 4k every 20 sec with 2 shouts (450 healing power, shake it off and for great justice) plus the healing signet this is pretty op healing for 30k health and 3300 armor.

If you have serious damage you will be squishy, the survivability comes from blocks and heals.

You can go for AH tanky dps, see the pinned post in this forum. But you have a moderate damage compared with the same “tanky” warrior.

The problem with the guardian is the 11k healing pool. You need to invest in vitality, losing damage or other stats.

I have a full equipped guardian and warrior. My main used to be the guardian.

That thing “warrior is easy and boring” is a lie. Play a warrior is than easy as play a guardian. Hard to play is the engi or the ele. And the warrior, due his mobility, is really fun to play. And i have a very mobility guardian, fun to play too.

This is in wvw. For pve… dont matter your class or your gear, pve is freaking easy in this game.

How hard is fix a friendlist in wvw, a party kicker in wvw? How hard is realize that condition re-apply system is broken? How hard is understand that this game need diminish return? There is not attack rotation in pvp. You have some combos but you need to play wisely all your skills and adapt to the enemy. Is all about counter and timing, with some combos of course.

Try this build, is pretty op for zergs, specially in frontline. You are almost immortal with this.

For defense in a wall, you are a warrior! you dont stay in the wall hitting from range, you jump down, smash some heads with your hammer and go back inside for CD recharge.

Arenanet is too busy making pve content.

Arenanet need to listen their wvw/pvp players. Is pvp player who play the game until the end of it, without new content, even with bugs… they will still playing the game until game´s death. But arenanet is comforting pve players to not get boring. And is blind with “nobody wants” content and modes for wvw and spvp.

WvW is dying in low tier servers. IDK what numbers or statics they manage, but i play only wvw in a low tier server, and everyday there is less players. You can only find players in EBG because BL are dead.

Christos, what do you think about changing runes of water/monk for runes of hoelbrak? And sigil of energy for sigil of battle in both weapons? With this change i can stack some extra might. And with the fix of PoV coming is nice to have -20% condition duration.

I feel boon duration and healing power give me a LOT of survivability, but i feel lack of damage and many fight ends in a draw, maybe with the extra power of runes and extra might stack would help with that. And my healing power will be 1100 and my boon duration 30%, still good numbers. What you think?

wvw is about pvp.

I am sick of seeing pve players only farming daily events or map completion. They do nothing for the server, they only focus on farm their stuff and log out of wvw every day for a couple more points of achievements.

Not really. That’s just the typical fotm warrior build that is going to get nerfed.

Is not only that build.

Berserker warrior has a LOT OF DAMAGE, tons of damage. With 19k health and a lot of blocks by time (3 sec shield, 4 sec endure pain, 4 sec endure pain by traits) a lot of mobility to go in and out of combat and still great condi removal options…

Stunlock warrior with mace and shield has much more stuns than that build.

Condi bunkers warrior has 30k health with 3200 armor and a lot of condition damage with range and mobility and a lot of regeneration.

I can go on. Warrior right now has a lot of things, a LOT, CC, regen, great health pool, mobility, invuls, blocks, condi removal, softCC, low CD abilities, more base damage, offensive buff, speed, great self stability, range, support abilities (with horn/hammer banners build i give a lot of CC, condi removal and buff to my team).

Right now the guardian is a very limited class with few viable builds and need to sacrifice a lot to get something. I have both profession full equipped with a couple of builds each and overall war is better right now.

You still need a guardian in your team, is very important have a guardian in your team or lot of guardians in a zerg, but only for one role and job, for versatility or anything else, pick a warrior.

Does this make you re-think your decision?

You have only one condition removal on 36sec. It remove all conditions but in 36sec CD you will have a very hard time vs heavy condition builds with 20k health in wvw.

That happen only on roaming or traveling alone.

For not getting kited you need at least 2 gap closer with LOW cd. If you run GS or sword + hammer and JI you will getting kited anyway, because you have only one low cd gap closer, JI has a lot of CD.

For solo fight, or solo roaming GS + sword or any of it + scepter is mandatory. The roamers have a LOT of mobility and duelist capability.

If you want to use hammer you need to roam or fight with a team or duo. Because if your partner do the right pressure the enemy cant kite you.

WvW should be by teams or wvw exclusive servers and not by pve servers.

This is a pve game, wvw is only a mode or minigame inside a pve game. PVP/wvw is not truly integrated into the core game.

I am thinking about start a necro, only for wvw, leveling it in wvw only.

I have a guardian, warrior and thief.

I am concern about the mobility and survivability of the necro without a good staiblity of mobility skills. I used to play high survivability class, my war is very tanky with great mobility, my thief has a lot of stealth and mobility, even my guardian heal a lot and i use a lot of mobility skills with him.

When i see a necro in wvw they will kill or die, he cannot scape. I see a lot of solo roaming necro die because a small group spot him form the distant and chase him down easily even far away.

Is really that bad thats points in wvw, mainly for roaming or you can cover it with the strengths of the class? What is the worst part of being a necro? your most weak points? And how good is compared with others heavy condition bunkers with high mobility.

The solution should be a better condition apply and re apply system, no this mediocre one.

Condition meta is out of control because how the condition system works. It will pass from overpower to useless, if the only solution is add or remove condition removal tools.

Fix the condition mechanic. Then fix the bug.

You guys are hilarious. Buffing only one set of skills so that this is all you use isn’t what Anet wants to do. They want you to mix it up and that’s why they will fix this and buff Consecrations.

With 1 button you (You’re playing Necro – I clicked your sig) spam all conditions on someone and with a second press you spread them ALL to 5 others. And guardians have to mix it up to compete?! WHY US?

Don’t Guardians have 1 button that pulls all conditions from everyone? And another button that turns all of those into boons?

And to see only 1 vid and assume I play only Necro is just silly. If you really checked out my youtube channel you’d see that I’ve had a video for pretty much EVERY CLASS!

Yes, on 40+ sec CD and you need 2 utility slot for that. After that you are free to spam condition and they cant handle it.

The guard have a really low health, and relative low damage, and relies a lot in healing (that you can counter with poison spamming), is very weak if they cant remove conditions fast.

And they will gonna buff consecration for sPvP in compensation. In wvw consecration is useless because is pure stationary and you need a lot of mobility in zerg or roaming gameplay.

I am not gonna to play my guardian until real buff. I am gonna to focus on my warrior for zerg and roaming. After the patch all my gold is for more warrior builds.

Doesn’t matter. It was a bug and not working correctly. It would be better to suggest correctly working alternatives instead of whining about a bug being fixed.

All of you “I am not going to play x profession anymore until xxxx” make me laugh. I play my guardian regardless of what they do and I am good at it regardless of what they do.

You dont understand, yes is a bug but right now, with the OUT OF CONTROL condition meta, is really necessary to improve the condition removal. Is ok if arenanet fix it, but they need to rebalance the class to have better condition removal tool.

Is true we will get a buff on consecration, but the reality is consecration dont work well on wvw. They are fixing the bug, and give us a buff on consecration FOR sPVP and holding points for dealt with the condition meta. In wvw the guard is no more than a zerg support (a great one, but only that) and in roaming is in the trash tier. You CANT dealt vs a good condition player without a really good condition removal or enough damage to make them play defensively.

This force me to play with meditation, lyssa runes and absolute resolution, but i am too boring to this, i prefer to play a op profession right now because arenanet fail in understand the wvw with bad balanced mechanics, leagues and that bloodlust buff. They are killing wvw. Right now in low tiers wvw bl are a desert.

And you are planning any compensation buff? Because you know, that heavy tanky condition meta with that mediocre condition re-apply system what arenanet feed with a lot of changes. And Purging flames buff is useless in wvw where mobility is a must.

I think this is not about only balance for sPvP, you sold a wvw game also, and in wvw guardian is only good for zerg support with only one or two viable build, concegration is not a option for his stationary mechanic, even buffed.

This is hardly surprising. Anet can’t be expected to leave a major bug with significant balance implications unfixed when doing a balance patch.

I’m going to wait and see what’s in the patch notes. You really can’t judge the implications of a change like this without considering the other things that will be changing along with it.

Yes, they will improve Purging flames for sPvP. I dont see it useful in wvw, because is a stationary skill and wvw is about mobility. But arenanet dont care about wvw, or free pvp. They want structured things easy to balance.

Not traited = barely use them, very situational, is best use the passive unless you really need it like crucial block, desperate healing or finishing someone doing more dps with f1. The virtues not traited is a very weak mechanic imo.

Traited is another history. You can spend 5 points in virtue for great buff, you can spend 5 in radiance for F1 aoe blind, you can trait via virtue IX and X, for remove conditions or stability (also XI and XII for improve f1). Is when virtues come great for use it and very powerful.

Melandru is the best for armor imo. Mostly PVT. Very balanced for all situation.

But dont sell trinkets.

If you need “all in one” vendor, try lyssa, but at this point of mix and lack of some vital stats is the same what vendor you pick, you will get the same mix of stats and lack of vital others.

Lyssa has a lot of critical chance. But no power or critical damage, so critical chance is useless.

Lyssa has a lot of vitality, but no armor, so you are no tanky with that.

I have no problem staying in Melee. In fact, I find Guardians and Warriors annoying with how many ways they can gap close when I’m not playing one.

The problem is not the lack of gap closer, the problem is the lack of soft CC you need to keep then in melee after the gap closer.

The warrior has a LOT of gap closer and cripples (softCC) the guardian has a low amount of gap closer and no softCC at all.

And glacial heart is a pretty mediocre/bad trait. Like a lot of guardian traits. And need a buff.

You need to do what I did. Level up a warrior and be happy. I barely play my guardian right now, i love him but the tanky/CC/reg/mobility plus damage of warrior has no match vs guardian right now.

If you build a bad gear only for save less than 10g in runes then i dont understand why you level up an entire new guardian instead of build a second gear for the first one. If you take the effort to level up a new one, at least build it properly.

Try to build a mix of PVT (pvt helmet is not available with karma) with Magi and cavalier.

This is a PVE game. Since the release when i read there is not open world pvp i realize that this is a pve game with some pvp minigames and modes. No more than that.

PVE/coop-mode is “one time play only” how many times you play a coop game or single player game? one, two maximum. If you play it more is because some reward like “achievements” (the worst thing ever in game history to gain gameplay hours and replayability) or items. Arenanet cant abuse with items tier (already done with ascended anyways) but no like WoW.

PVE NEED content to keep players playing it. PVP no, who like pvp play it anyways, the same map, the same mode for years without reward or achievements, who play PVE need rewards and content constantly because pvp is fun, But pve is fun one time, is one time experience, no more.

This is a PVE game. Arenanet need to keep it alive and all resources goes to that.

while you’re pretty right on all accounts, there’s some important stuff you’re overlooking. PvP players don’t enjoy countless bugs and exploits throughout the game. see, the general consensus of what WvW has needed for over a year ain’t new content. it’s things working right, and quality of life improvements. that’s it. that’s all. while yes, sure, there have been occasional requests for additions, or new maps, or new siege, the VAST majority of the requests that have come since the betas is to just make the game mode work properly, and for better tools to work with. those are not unreasonable requests, those are not even major request. those are how things should have been since day 1. if ford sells a car where the tires randomly explode and there’s a hand drawn picture where the steering wheel is supposed to be, ford is getting sued into oblivion. this is pretty much exactly what WvW players have been forced to deal with for over a year now. we just want our steering wheels.

There are a lot of quality of life changes that community is asking for long time ago and too easy to implement and arenanet only ignore them focusing on pve content.

In online games i only enjoy pvp. For pve i have a LOT of GREAT single or coop games.

Like someone said above, arenanet is ignoring the most loyalty community, the pvp gamer, who play the game until the end, because, pve players will move to the next mmorpg with new shiny content.

I think pve in online games is a slow dying mode. Is true a lot of peoples play it actually and in the past, but the problems is always the same from the beginning, the need of constant new content and poor re playability.

Global Agenda, a mediocre game in my criteria, has a interesting mode: A player can join a instance/dungeon as a enemy. Is something like (not the same) left4dead. If a company polish that would be amazing, a boss/mobs or mechanic controlling by another/various random/anonymous players. Like L4D.

A company need to habituate players to do some PVP in their online games content, risk something for win more. Not to bet for the safer and be another pve farming game of the moment.
