I mean….when I run on my ele, I do heal but only occasionally dropping a water field and double blasting in it if I see my allies get low on health.
and that is usually after using glyph of storms+meteor shower+eruption so that I can maintain DPS.
Ran a fractal on my reaper yesterday (who is not Zerker, He’s Soldiers/Knights/Marauders with 92% crit rate, 190% ferocity, and with might and food around 3200-3300 power.) and it was great.
fantastic damage being put out and no reason for me to stop and have to use fields and stuff. I also sucked up a lot of damage for my allies which was nice ._.
yay.
also Using “Rise” when we stack around a huge group of mobs is hilarious and fun.
This isnt towards you.
buuuuut. a while back I was on Crystal Desert, and moved to FA, after specializations and the complete bombardment by YB breaking into T1 and dropping TC down, FA was in the bottom for a while. if I played in anything except EB at primetime, I was mostly alone, facing zergs that would just train around the maps constantly, so I could only MAYBE take a camp if I was fast without getting interuppted.
This update is refreshing for me, FA is doing well, the fights seem a little more….consistent?
I’m not sure if it’s because the big zergs haven’t figured everything out yet…buuuuuut
in my opinion, It’s catered to people being organized and GOOD, instead of just having a blob of really bad players(no offense to zergs or anybody inside them it’s just usually the dominating servers are made of a blob of people following a handful of actually competent players)
I do think….some of the auto upgrades are a LITTLE bit punishing, but it does also discourage having 2 people take an entire map overnight type stuff.
I don’t think for certain ones they really need to tell us where it came from
(Tempest is not different enough from base ele, Daredevil could just be a canthan training for thief types.)
I’m even ok with not knowing how Reaper happens, although it’s clear Marjory has SOMETHING to do with it.
I would give them the benefit of the doubt and say at least some of it will be touched on when the story continues, particularly Rytlock’s revenant abilities. He says he learned them from someone…who is that someone, Glint?
Kasmeer’s powers have been steadily growing as we adventure with her, and the Mesmer collective has tons of forbidden magic never seen before, maybe chronomancy is such an art?
I do however want more lore on druid, even if we have a few npcs mention them.
I would like some lore on Dragon hunter from Braham, I’m assuming after HoT’s storyline he takes up that mantle.
The guild wars wiki will give you a full summary in detail of every storyline that happened in the gw1 campaigns.
Seems like I’m the only one who has noticed…
but those aren’t bats flying around. They’re tiny black night furies. Try screen capping about 25 times while wearing white armor and previewing night fury. They have a long tail, their wing structure is identical to a night fury’s (and wrong for a bat’s), and their head shape and flying posture are all exactly like Toothless from How to Train your Dragon.
that’s how “bats” look in gw2.
-points to bat mini-
-points to every single bat mob in Tyria-
they have dragon-like heads and long tails.
I use the Master effect sweet and added negative bloom to where there isn’t much.(since the base game has a lot)…
I’m very happy with it and can almost not handle playing with it off.
I play mostly celestial but I replaced my Zerker stuff with marauders.
And she didn’t die, She was unconscious.
They do twitch a bit in combat. Bat wings wouldn’t be flopping around like those flimsy feathered wings so if they ever added animation I would hope it wasn’t them moving like a wet noodle
Can I just say I love the ambient conversation in tarir where the priory scholar says at first she thought the exalted were related to mursaat.
As for everything so far. I would love if there were little Easter eggs about what happened in novas, and where chakk are from.
Where is master weapon smith?
ok so reddit and Google have both failed me as well as my own talents and anybody in game that responds.
Which vendor sells the recipe for the new marauder stats? I’ve located every vendor except this one.
Halp.
the only reason I’ll say probably no is simply because Demons are fully sentient beings.
they might be able to manifest a demon-like entity, but not an actual demon.
It bothers me. I play just above minimum height human male. So I see him as around 5’8"/5’9". And there are female Norn just barely taller than me
The short answer: no.
Mesmers can’t control the mists, and demons are fully sentient beings that have come to form from the mists. Although made of ether, which mesmers do manipulate, they would be too powerful for a Mesmer to create.
Mesmers can create illusions and shells of things, but not actual beings, and if a Mesmer pushes the scope of their power too much, they will harm themselves.
I think somewhere in the lore a Mesmer cloned an army or something and it ended up killing said Mesmer because that was too much power to maintain.
I’m under the impression if they actually created a demon, it might kill them from how much power it would take. They could, potentially, assert some form of dominance over a demon like they can over other beings, though.
It’s growing more because it’s almost Halloween and new items are being added to ToT bags. Use brain.
Ok all of these extremely long posts with big words scream to me TLDR
But I went ahead and read. And my response may be overly simple.
I don’t think there’s a quantifiable or scientific basis behind certain aspects of magic in tyria. It’s a force, it exists.
People born around it have the ability to psychokinetically access it through force of will.
Some appear more talented than others, which opens up new debate on why.
I think if we equate it to the magnetic energy surrounding earth, if humans were somehow able to use a much higher percent of brain power and manipulate their own electromagnetic current.
Maybe it’s similar to that?
Like said just before.
Grenth is the son of Dwayna and Malchor, a half human. He only took Dhuums powers after overthrowing him.
Guardians use willpower, they aren’t priests. So if their faith is strong enough I don’t see why it wouldn’t make sense.
Also the god you chose is never once mentioned anywhere, shown at all, and doesn’t make an impact at all….soooooo
In terms of raw power I would say elementalist probably have he most “power” to wield, with mesmers tying them depending on the Mesmer.
Then probably necromancer, guardian, engineer, warrior, ranger, thief
What I’ve gathered from various NPCs and my own knowledge.
They were pushed out of cantha, and become distrustful. They eventually left the wall for only trade, but have recently been scouting around. According to the tengu in lions arch they’re watching the other races to see who they will help.
I’ll post what I posted before but condensed.
Defeated and downed are game mechanics, not lore.
Full resurrection is no longer really a thing, even for the player character(if you’re defeated you aren’t permanently dead because that’s too punishing from a mechanic point of view).
Necromancy and undeath used on a sentient being is considered a big no no. Example: palawa joko.
The elite specs are comically overpowered.

Revue ants I have killed so quickly
Dragon hunters are far too capable in WvW because of their ranged traps though.
Daredevil is weak. Tempest is weak. Druids ok. Berserker is fine.
Reaper is….strong but slow.
Chrono I haven’t fought yet thank god.
Deaths at a waypoint is a mechanics thing. Not lore.
grenth is the God of death and cold. Not darkness(although one could speculate)
Un death is necromancy. And necromancy on a once sentient being is a huge no no(looking at you palawa joko)
Death. As of now. Is pretty permanent. Grenth has been gone a looooong time and resurrection hasn’t been done in a long time as well.
The downed state and defeated isn’t lore
Game mechanics aren’t lore.
Also, this would be better answered in the lore forum where people are a wee more knowledgable on those aspects of the game.
A lot of people who played 1 don’t like the charr still
I like the idea that he wants z’s body but I don’t know if that’s the direction they’re headed
1.) they aren’t hard to get. Even for casual players.
2.) they aren’t needed for raids. Just a suggestion or probably to build hype.
3.) in all honesty, raiding isn’t being targeted at players that are so far into the casual category that they can barely get exotics, those types of players haven’t been asking for hard content because a super casual player probably won’t be good enough to handle the content anyways.
(And I’m a semi-casual player but definitely not so casual to where this is a huge thing.)
I like it. I haven’t found a perfect build I like that utilizes it. But I do enjoy it
Those aren’t mental conditions. Those are mental afflictions.
A psychotic individual cannot function in public
A maniac is never used as anything other than extremely negative
It all has to do with mad king thorn, who…was….quite insane. Mad, you could say.
This is quite possibly the best post I’ve ever seen on the forums
I like the synergy it has of using its spin in a fire or poison field. Delivers tons of condi damage
Honestly.
1.) I don’t think revenants would have ties to ANY gods, since they aren’t from the first game and aren’t a human-origin profession (rhytlock being the first one)
2.) they focus on spirits, or rather…memories of the mists, not on elements, not on any aspect that a god has or has domain over. Revenants I guess would…revere the mists, like how the Norn shamans commune with the mists.
In summary. They don’t revere any god, the human gods have 100% of nothing to do with the way a revenant works, or how they would think….even human revenants, but that’s just my opinion.
I should add if you upgraded it’s possibly the source corrupted.
you’d need a fresh mastereffect/reshade install
and a fresh GW2 folder (as in just the Exe and the .Dat file, then click the patcher in order to bring back up the other folders/settings)
http://sfx.thelazy.net/games/preset/3312/
this is the download tutorial I followed, the instructions are in the text box there.
http://reshade.me/forum/shader-troubleshooting/17-solved-on-off-toggle-with-mastereffect
is the forum thing I found to making the toggle switch work again. this post in particular:
technique MasterEffect < bool enabled = 1; toggle = 0×78; >
Bat wings. That’s all. I want. Thanks.
I think. Also. It’s a problem that new characters can be created on full servers for fresh accounts. That someone could delete all characters to transfer to one. It’s apparently still possible….and I know for a fact some full guilds have been somehow transferring INTO full servers.
But then for the servers where guilds are leaving(black gate and TC looking at you). Why are those servers still full?
I’m stuck at the bottom of T2 and unless during the prime times and only in EB. I’m mostly alone.
Recently I remade my ranger as a sylvari. My warrior as a norn. My engineer as an asura, and I’ll be making my necromancer a charr.
My ele and Mesmer will both stay human.
Wooden potatoes guide will NOT work on windows 10. You don’t need the unlocked unless you’re using the depth stuff(which honestly you shouldn’t they’re hideous beyond anything).
I followed a guide attached to a preset. But in your bin you should have
Mastereffect folder
The reshade.32 renamed as d3d9.dll
Reshade.fx
And mastereffect.h
Use notepad cc+ to edit mastereffect. Normal notepad breaks the code for some reason
Make sure at the top of reshade.fx it says #include “mastereffect.h”
Then there’s part of the reshade.fx that tells you what toggle key you want.
Depending it usually says it’ll use master effects toggle, or 0×98.
If you’re like me f9 is a good toggle so change it to 0×78
I believe the code line involves the word bool, you’ll have to locate it.
But basically if it says “use master effect” the actual toggle will be unable to turn on.
Hopefully this helped somewhat
I think lore wise the claw of jormag is definitely dead.
As is tequatl (destinys edge 2.0 is well known for having helped kill him).
I think the shatterer isn’t fully dead though. Could be wrong.
That’s still a theory though
I had a theory that maybe mesmeric magic is in the aggression slot due to its nature of literally disrupting natural magic. And that necromancy could be denial as in the denial of death.
Mesmer now is definitely not what they were in gw1. The scope of their power is much more broad and powerful.
I think it may have been because of it being illusion magic.
However, kasmeer seems to be much more potent than your average mesmer. She seems to also be getting gradually more powerful as the living story goes on and I bet she’ll be the first lore based chronomancer. Buuuuut, I think she’s a special case when it comes to that, since she can sense lies as well. It seems like she can sense anything false
Necromancy relies on drawing life force only when relating to the creation of minions or utilizing soul magic. Blood magic requires blood. Curses probably require intent.
Elementalism is probably the most broad, as long as there is magic around they can conjure and manifest the elements easily.
Guardians if like paragons and monks works off faith more than will but they probably changed it for the other races. I would equate it to the green lanterns. It can falter if their will does, and presumably other magics would interfere with certain spells of a guardian.
It’s magic soaks back into the world.
Much like a god. Glint would have replaced Kralkatorrik by absorbing his powers.
Much like what kormir did to abbadon.
Assuming they just kind of….burst into power and seep back into the earth
As for racial stuff. Also been established well in lore. The asura have a superiority complex, humans and chart largely distrust each other in certain areas, as of right now the charr (at least a few) are extremely weary of sylvari. But that has nothing to do with the elite specializations, however.
As its pointed out every time necromancy is ever brought up here.
Necromancy has been a thing since well before the elder dragons were known about to the majority of races.
Shamans of Raven use it. Humans have used it ever since Grenth usurped Dhum.
It’s not looked at in any form of an evil way. It can be used for evil (using it on previously living sentient beings) as stated in the story minions were never alive to begin with.
You do have baddies like Palawa Joko, but it’s well established that he hates zhaitan, as his minions fought zhaitans corrupted at the edge of the crystal desert.
As for other classes, not really anything that’s in the lore….guardians weren’t a thing until recently (there were monks and paragons). Maybe engineer and elementalist would be…in opposition but not in a violent way
I hate how everybody is saying the nerf was for “celestial eles”.
It wasn’t. It was for specifically /D and took away some of the burns pressure, which had eles that utilized D/D in an overly strong position.
I don’t like the cantrip might strip or the blind reductions, but oh well.
Scepter I can’t speak for. I feel like its niche like it always has been, and no amount of buffs will change that.
mine was only 61,000
I pray for some sort of bat wing backpack ._.
gimme wings of sunless equivalent. kthx.
I think it’s an asura npc that talks about it. But it could also just be a theory that he has.
The only thing I disagree with is your idea on the state of elona. That’s been established. Palawa jokos undead army fought off zhaitans minions. He dammed the river to prevent trade and did cause a sort of famine.
If people resist him he kills them, but other than that he seems to be more of a dictator. He needs people to rule so for the most part I feel like he would mostly allow the humans to thrive.
We know the order of whispers can come and go to and from elona. So there’s probably some sort of settlement there that is relatively free of palawas grip.
I honestly hope we see Elona sooner than later, I like it better than Cantha.
Ohhhh see I never used tons of can trips to stack might I only popped them as oh kitten buttons. I didn’t notice the might change
