What’s a more even fight…. class x spams boons, class y spams boon removal….. both invested into something it evens out….. why should the boon removal class not be as effective as the one traiting for boons?

They are effective. Necro boon removal and converting boons into conditions is actually too strong.

Classes like guardian and ele have low hp and ele has low armor. They need to have someway to protect themselves, stacking boons and healing. A necro has a much higher hp base and DS.

I think there are too many boon removal/converting/stealing options actually.

Kk now list the amount of skills traits sigils etc that give boons =) and compare.

Comparing a necros defense agaisnt a guardian or ele is kittening laughable. Necro isn’t blocking, dodging, doesn’t have as much protection and has the most ridiculous heal in game “oh look at that necro with a blue glowing light that takes forever to cast I suppose I’ll interupt it”

Bingo. So some classes have high hp because they dont have so many sources of protection. Why would it be fair to remove their protection and leave them with the low hp? What if they create a mechanic to remove your 8k higher base hp?

why should someone be able to kill me if i invest all my traits/amulet/runes/sigil/skills into defense?

If you are investing EVERYTHING into defense you can survive against a celestial class for very long.

you are missing the point. if the question is “if i build for boons why should you be able to remove them all if you build for boon removal”

and by that same logic, you could say “if i build for defense why should you be able to take away all my health”

or “if i build for conditions why should be able to clear all of them”

etc.

the answer is counter play.

You cant remove all conditions, you cant negate all direct dmg. You also shouldnt be able to remove all boons. Quite simple. What we have now is counter play. Buff boon removal would just make the classes that dont relly on boons become unstoppable god mode. Right now a necro already has a good chance to kill an ele. Imagine if they buff it even more.

I’m always saying same thing. Main problem is “healing”. Lets take a look who telling for which classes are OP.

1) Engi – They putting 2 Healing turrets (have massive heal abilities), water fields
2) DD Ele – Water skills can give unlimited heal. If you vs with dd ele you should hit more than 150k
3) Guardian – Medi heals, many heal abilities with blocks, gs attack heals. everythings are heal him
4) Warrior – Healing signet..

Fix that things and all will be fine.

This games is an mmorpg before an esport. Healing is a very important part of mmorpgs. We can’t just nerf healing to oblivion. Healing is actually underpower. How many players do you see running clerics or magi in spvp? In pve they are non existent. In wvw also extinct. No healing does’t need a nerf.

As long as it was like a mini-game like bell choir, toypocalips, etc… it would be fine.

Instead of the 8 profession make npcs be like champs. For example Scarlet, Hodgins from AC p1, Threhearn, etc… This gives possibility for several champs. They are always updating the living story, creating new characters. This would gives us a few new champs on every living story update.

That way they wouldnt need rework all the class balance.

Hybrid melee ranger. Its built to endure and burst. And if that fails, condies will wear your enemy out fast enough.

I was thinking in make a celestial ranger for wvw. The utilities and traits are similar my main problem is get a good weapon set. GS has the best mobility but it is pure direct dmg, Sword also has great mobility but the autoatck chain is annoying.

Has anyone tried to might stack with sword+warhorn/axe+torch or something similar?

It’s a bit difficult to stack might with axe since the duration is so short, unless you’re fighting multiple targets. WH will only grant you one might stack. If I’m running my ranger for might stacks, I’ll use a Jungle Stalker (5 stacks for a base 15 seconds without additional boon duration), sw+wh for fury + 1 might stack, and strength/battle runes on my weapon sets. It’s fairly easy to maintain a constant 15 stacks of might or more this way, and if I was running axe I could probably pull off maybe an extra 5 stacks if I’m just autoattacking like crazy.

Well just from sigil of battle boon durationhoelbrak we get around 12stacks base. Wass thinking about fortifying bound. Every time the axe is giving us a low duration might stack it is giving to the pet 1 stack for 16.75s. Maybe a might stacked pet can hurt in 1v1s

All the sigils are passive. On swap are the least passive of the sigils actually.

-Condi duration = passive
-Permanent bonus = passive
-On kill = passivel
-On critical hit = passive
-On weapon swap = passive
-On hit passive = passive

What do you suggest remove the sigils and runes and destroy mmorpg customization?

Guardians have alot of boons. you don’t see anyone complaining about them. You people have biased logic.

Its because current Guardian Meta doesn’t really have any boons! (nor do guardians have access to might stacking unless u run staff which isn’t current meta) there just OP due to being epically bursty right now.

So boons are so op that are not in the meta for some classes? Biased logic.

PvE should not be “balanced”, it will just end in breaking WvW and PvP.

What else good would come from reducing other condis to 20?

I just see bad reasons.

You cant just reduce the might stacking classes dmg output and not nerf the others to be on par with that.

With 15 my HGH Cele Engi becomes a wrecking ball. Anything above it is insane dmg wise for the sustain I have too.

I think 20 is a fair number. Reducing by 5 would make people lose 175 power/condi. But we should also reduce vulnerabily and all condis to 20.

ONLY bleeding would be significantly effected by 20stacks, nothing else in PvP.

Some classes can easily stack 25 vul like mesmers. Also would make sense if reducing might to 20 to reduce everything else to 20. Would be great for pve and wvw too, slowing down speed runs a bit and reducing overall dmg output.

If there is a SINGLE stat that a class/build can not make use of effectively, then Cele becomes useless for that build/class.

All stats need to be effectively helping to your goal.

In general however, its not OP.
Might is OP. Has and probably always will be OP as kitten.

Edge of the Mist used to be fun. There was a karma train. We all took turns and we all got gold, loot, achievements, etc. For the past three weeks it’s been anything but fun. Over powered players that one shot you, or a small group of the same, while apparently none of the siege equipment or ranger’s arrows nor any thing else affects these OP toons. At all. Not even a scratch. Then having large guilds come in and destroy the ability to do any of the fun things created a depressing scenario which I became frustrated with and simply left. Not really wanting to go back if this is how it’s going to be. For two years I’ve enjoyed running in EoTM but lately, not so much. Maybe I’m getting old and jaded.

If it is just 1 guild try to get their name and discover what server they come from. After you know that you can get people and guilds to focus them and gank them everywhere. They mess with your karma train you should go troll all their gvg or raids.

I’m sure their gvg will be seriously messed by a bunch of upleveled PvErs.

You know that most uplvl have other toons right? Also even if they go there with a lvl 1 and rally bot for the enemy they are already messing up.

So you are suggesting the two guilds wouldn’t just trash those “bystanders” if they messed up with their GvG? Well you’re welcome to try. Feel free to capture and post the results.

You know that even if you manage to kill 1 guy he can return in less than a minute? If i had friends that like to troll gvg I would do so. Unfortunately everyone that I know seems to respect that pseudo game mode.

Also wvw is as pve as eotm. The only game mode that is consider real pvp is Spvp.

No celestial is not even close to be op. Have you ever tried to play a celestial necro or celestial thief? Celestial amulet is not even viable for most classes. Celestial is also not that great in wvw large scale and weak in pve.

Low skill floor low skill cap too.

Nothing hard about counting people’s dodges and bursting them once their dodges are down. Doesn’t help that Guardian burst is also kittened easy to land because of how fast casting it is.

Not much to learn when you can escape through teleport meditation or spamming blinds and blocks as you burst someone.

I’ve played it and it feels like it’s just a pathetic designed button mashing class.

Just another class that’s even more braindead than shatter Mesmer or Cele Ele.

It is easy to play indeed, because the base healing on meditations is too high. This combined with the spam o blocks/blinds that the class have makes people that have no healing power have a great sustain. IMO the base haling should be reduced and the scale with healing power should be higher.

However I disagree with you about it been more brainded than shatter mesmer. At least med guard has to stay melee and not easy mode ranged class. Also the guard has less hp than mesmer. Celestial ele is balanced, the only problem right now are the bug abusers with lw.

That pretty much summarizes the issue. The bug abuse is basically on the same lvl as AC zoom cheating in wvw. At least in wvw people don’t pretend that their game mode is a sport.

With Perplex runes you are actually need to interrupt something or it’s enough just to stun or fear enemy?

You have to interrupt, but on this game almost every time you cc someone you get 1 interrupt also some skills no cast time (like steal) so easy to interrupt even if the enemy is trying to avoid it.

yea, arenanet is trying to make system, while blizzard is doing it.
1. Blizzard does not allow 4 premades vs 2 soloquers.
2. Current gw2 dezert system puts 1 min ban on ranked, while blizzard give 20 min ban becouse player is forced to play full unranked game.
3. Ladder soon… while blizzard is done with it

General Consensus on Condition Damage?

I’ll reflect on zerk should do greater dmg thn rabid.I disagree. With the rampup time in mind I could safely say condition characters should be able to dish out 20% more damage with conditions and then they still could be outdamaged by zerks by using a clean at certain moments, cleansing ire warriors can clean 2-3 conditions every 7-10s, without using additional cleans, Each clean resetting the damage output for a condi build to 0 , new stacks heve to be applied, a new rampup is started.

Saying DPS should outweigh DOT in max damage is saying i do not want any condi builds in game IMHO.

The problem is the condi tank gears like rabid and dire. Zerker you need 3 offensive stats, and condi you only need 1, so they can’t be more tanky and do more damage. And giving cleansing ire war as an example is not a good representation of all classes condi clearing capabilities.

You keep saying Condition users only need 1 stat. It keeps being wrong. They need condition damage, condition duration, most classes need precision to trigger conditions on crit, then, because it’s DoT instead of direct, they need toughness, so that the conditions have time to do damage.

They also need one thing that is not a stat: Time. You need some time to stack condis and make the enemy start felling the pressure. In the other hand direct dmg is intant dmg.

My suggestion for signet of fire/water is to make the active effect an aoe effect around the target similar to the way flame burst (staff fire #3) works . The duration of the burning could be reduced a little if they make it aoe.

These changes would make signet builds a bit more usefull in wvw/pve.

I think condis are fine in spvp and in small scale wvw. Terrible in large scale. Bad in pve.

The main problem in wvw is that the aoe condi clears are too abundant and -40% duration food.

We cant nerf personal condi clear or condi builds become god mode 1v1, but the AoE condi clear could be toned down a bit. Stuff like shake it off, purging flames could remove only 1 condi from allies but dont change the self condi clear.

General question here ( I am curious on the issue as I do not seriously play the mode as I find the implementation of it lacking) about the whole topic would you rather they sanction WvW so that combinations like perplexity are remove at the cost of there no longer being a gear/level advantage chance?

I think wvw should stay as it is. Perplexity is far from been overpowered becuase it works mostly only in 1v1s. A -40% condi duration food is much more source of inbalance than perplexity runes. Direct dmg is in a much better place than condi dmg in wvw in any large scale fight.

Also there is nothing cheese or unskilled in condi builds. Condition dmg is as legit as direct dmg.

My suggestion is to give tome of wrath and tome of courage inherent stability without requiring a trait for it.

When we look at the other transform skill almost all give stability. Example:

-Plague
-Lich Form
-Tornado
-Whirlpool
-Rampage
-Elixir X

Tomes right now are bad in pve, pvp and wvw. This change itself wont change the scenario very much, renewed focus would probably still be much better but at least makes the tomes less awful.

Perplexity on mesmer: fine, they are so slow you can just walk away

Perplexity on thief: can be tricky depending on what class you play. If you have a lot of condi clear and/or reflect projectile you should be fine to avoid them. A good tip is never stand on the caltrops.

Perplexity engi: dodge magnet and you will be fine to walk away. If you are a full melee class, chances are you wont be able to 1v1 him unless you are something like a d/d ele or other 1v1 proper build.

They could make like ele’s ride the lightning. If you dont hit a target it doubles the cooldown. And also add a new effect, like 5 vulnerability or weakness,etc..

Expansion… nah…

Releasing servers in South America, Africa, Australia and Antarctica… yeah… that’s where that bump in sales is coming from. Sadly, I don’t think their prediction will pan out… especially Antarctica. Every penguin I’ve ever talked to says they hate GW2 because of the way they portray the Tengu.

If it is an expansion, though, I’d probably buy it.

This was taken from KDB Daewoo Securities forecast. Any other explanations for why they’re expecting such a large revenue bump midway through 2015? I wonder if this ties into Gaile’s hint about news related to trait updates being available by Q2 2015.

I dunno, but I’ll remain cautiously optimistic.

The difference is that those games are only moba and gw2 is an mmorpg. The balance everything around only 5v5 conquest mode is hurting the game more than helping. Because of that we have no new game modes. Because of that wvw balance is a joke.

The idea of the gem store was originally for convenience items and cosmetics. Clearly precursors are a cosmetic.

This would stabilize the prices which would lessen inflation. It would lead to more people buying gems, which Anet would like.

They should still be available as random drops-kind of like the hair style kits can be bought or found as rare loot .

Seems like a simple fix to a vexing problem.

Edit: (Specifically the ability to increase the healing potential of Signet of Restoration by cancel-casting Lightning Whip after the first half of the animation.)

Mesmer is OP as kitten

Sad but true people.

I would much rather they nerfed mesmer than ele/engi.

And warrior doesn’t even need nerfing people. It is a “fair” class. It doesn’t port around like a no-lifer whilst AI kills you.

Mesmer is annoying because:
1, It is all AI
2, They can burst out of stealth
3, They port around from ledge to ledge so I can never finish them off without a thief on my team
4, Playing with bunkery people vs thief/mesmer as a necro is miserable as you have no thief to nullify the mesmer and they kitten me.
5, I hope they don’t nerf ele/engi so it becomes mesmer/thief OP comps again which just farm all other squishies.

My opinion: please don’t nerf the kitten out of ele and engi if that just means we get more OP mesmers running around never letting me heal and bursting me out of stealth with like 3 buttons.

P.s. fire and air sigils are lame.

P.p.s At least eles and engis sit there and are there to be killed, mesmers and thieves port around like clowns and just kitten everyone off.

If you’re not being sarcastic then you are FINALLY CATCHING ON and you now have my respect.

There is NOTHING skill based about being able to evade while being able to attack. This applies to Guardian, Ranger, and in certain cases, Ele.
There is nothing hard about being able to shatter while attacking and baiting out evades. Or being able to attack while casting another attack in general, NOTHING HARD ABOUT IT folks.
There is NOTHING fun about dealing with vertical range teleport.
Oh and did I mention that spamming evades while being able to do cleave burst is anti-fun braindead kitten mode? At least when a thief does it, they have to choose between short bow dodge or CLUSTER BOMB. They can’t have both.

People saying Warrior is braindead are the most ignorant pieces of garbage that I have ever seen in my life. Warrior is AGAIN the most balanced class in the game because guess what?

1.) They don’t have 10 million dodges and they can’t attack while dodging unless you’re that bad that you can’t see the combustive shot AoE ring or that you think reckless dodge deals damage or that you think condi Warrior is any good at all when it’s just a pub-stomping build.
a.) If they do spec for perma-vigor via shoutbow, burst damage and stun lock destroys them.
2.) Once Warriors are stunned, they are staying stunned. They can’t cast anything once their stun breaks are down, unlike Mesmer who can just cast daze shatter or distortion and Guardian who can cast block or blind.
3.) If Warriors ever try to escape then there’s too much counterplay and if they do get away, you got outplayed because Warrior can’t escape through memorizing blinking through vertical range.

P.S Warrior is now the most balanced profession in the game. People are just ignorant much like how ANET nerfs skull crack even though there was “no real incentive for people” to take Mace over Hammer.

P.S2 this game will probably still have a really bad population after PAX EAST because ANET makes so many bad decisions in balancing. I mean look at our que system, our population is so low we can’t even afford to have a solo que system and have to have a mixed system because ANET drove the population away with their incompetence.

I agree with Amir. Warrior is much harder to play than mesmer.

Op ignore the hatters. There is always trolls that copy paste a l2p anwser. Just remember that the same trolls said the same thing about every single op build that was nerfed in the past. Like old hambow, sd thief before #3 nerf, mesmer before global cd to shatter skills, trolls always said they were balanced, but they were nerfed because clearly they were not. They always show up to try to flame the topics and protect the easy mode builds. Keep going.

Hi guys,

It has been over 15 minutes since I made a post on this so here goes.

Mesmer ruins gw2. Not only are they brokenly op and clutter up your screen.

But in addition all mesmers do is cry 24/7 about thieves.

Well it is the same for everyone. Thieves are strong, get over it.

I would trade in all my necro kitten for the evades and immunities and ports and stealths a mesmer gets.

Thoughts guys?

The problem is one specific build that has too much offensive output at low risk due to too much kiting, insta cast skills, low cd, ranged, ai based, etc..

If he wants to use only 1 build for everything focus in something that works for wvw/spvp. For pve everything works just takes longer to kill.

The exact same thing can be said for PvP/WvW too. Literally anything can work in any game mode. This game is designed that way.

Not really. If you make a bad build in spvp, the chances are you are going to lose to the meta builds. If you go with a bad build in pve you still kill the boss and get the loot.
