Now, we most likely only have 1 class patch left before the expac, maybe another one with the launch.

The launch of the expansion will likely be a major rework to many trees with the new elite specialisation in mind as well. As long as we don’t have access to the expansion details, it is wasted effort to design around existing class balance.

After being left out of the last patch, I figured that instead of complaining about being left out, we might as well give some ideas as to what they could improve with the expac launch or class patches before it.

Who was complaining? I think most mesmer were overjoyed not to get improve-worsend.

I have an entire overhaul that I will put up once I get back from vacation. But for the UI, I’d be happy if we just got different colored dots for illusions vs phantasms. And likewise, a third color for phantasms that have the chronophantasma effect. That’s really all the work I think the UI needs.

And i was wondering where you have been lul. Bte chronophantasma already has an effect. But i suppose the same butterflies flying over each dot would look neat.

Doesn’t matter Anet doesn’t update anything in wvw anyways good suggestions or otherwise so who cares. Not to mention I have no idea why wvwers would object to an update to auto loot that would result in getting more loot. Especially when all wvwers complained about for years was no loot/rewards…. but whatever lol.

This is one of those suggestions, where if Anet just changed it so you got loot no matter what every wvw would say, “we like this” or “good job Anet more loot” but because I’m suggesting it, it’s an absolutely horrible idea, for some reason which nobody can figure out.

I mean at best it’s more loot, at worst it’s irrelevant, but you know keep up the good fight.

People object because it encourages people to lay dead on the ground instead of releasing and running back to the fight.

right….. so loot auto going into your inventory = you are encouraged to stay dead? Im not seeing the connection. Seems completely unrelated to me.

I can’t recall ever playing a game where, when you died (essentially when you failed in some way), you still automatically were given every bit of the loot you would have acquired if you stayed alive, contributed to the fight, got ressed by a comrade, or used other mechanics (like WP) to rejoin the battle. Maybe I’m misunderstanding, but shouldn’t death have a death penalty of some sort? It’s modest enough, with the mechanics in place, but should it be zero?

Yes, I do believe that such functionality would discourage active play. “I’m dead. I’ll just lie here and gather all my goodies while I go order a pizza. Doesn’t cost me a thing to be inactive — I’ll still get 100% of the loot either way.” Does that even make sense? Or am I misunderstanding the suggestion?

Ya I mean right? The downed state isn’t enough of a soft cap on death already that we need auto-loot while dead too? Is good to see someone at anet draw the line in the sand when it comes to introducing more hand-holding mechanics.

Yes it is good to see them drawing a line. But for the line to be drawn THAT far back? It literally validates ALL of the kitten hand holding mechanics we have to deal with to date. And what do we gain? A promise that the hand holding won’t get worse than it already is…? lol…..look through the years of this game and you’ll see that is a complete lie.

Is it really that far of a stretch that said magic should still be cast when im dead? Cause currently it ports it to my body, when im ded, by there’s some magic barrier preventing it from going into my inventory…SPOOOOKYYY MAGIC!!

I mean somehow I can port my body, while I’m dead, back to a waypoint and be fully revived no sweat WITHOUT COST and continue to get loot from all the things I tapped. But getting looot ported to my body and not my inventory bag while dead is just somehow impossible by the laws of this game? Some kind of magic that placed the loot ontop of my inventory bags rather than in them BUT ONLY when im dead….lol. ANd this is justified because……..its too hand holdey?

If you want fairness and less hand holdey gameplay, you should cancel all loot from things someone taps AS SOON AS THEY ARE DEAD!!!
That way I no longer get scores of loot from all the things I ran into and died to. presently I can just jump into a pile of bodies and tap them all…die….respawn….and then up to 10 mins or so later get piles and piles of loot for their bodies should they ‘die somehwere’.
Why aren’t you advocating for this Gaile? This is something that makes sense if implemented, and does what you said is needed in games!
See what happened there? I agreed with the opening cause what he said was logical. I looked at what you said was “needed”, and found a way to make it apply to the game in an even MORE logical manner than the OP. Now we have the opposite of what the OP wanted! Do I care if the game is less hand holdey or more? yes! But the most logical route is the right route regardless of what I think or you think. I’m not gonna make some enemy regen all my hp once I kill it just cause the game needs to be easier! I’m gonna make a logical way for the game to be easier…….

Pets OP? lol. I run Ranger/Druid. Pets can be handy but in a big battle they’re pretty much useless. I get attacked by someones pet and barely notice it.

Yeah fighting a bunker druid meanwhile hit pet hits me for 5-7k because fixed stats always made sense. #MakePetStatsScaleWithYours.

I assume there’s quite some space for those stat combos in the new expansion. At least I hope so, because going directly to five-stat sets would probably be a bad idea. Some combination of berserker stats with concentration would probably be most interesting for me, especially if (big if …) they go in the right direction with class balance.

Aegis is pretty boring flat out dmg avoidance is pretty bad tbh. It should be more cordinated and less “i can negate all the dmg”. That takes away from the challenge. I believe dmg reduction is the most balanced way which has the rist there “will i be able to tabk this better pop some cds and have the healers top us off and brace for impact” or have dmg avoidance which works on a positional lvl like guard shield crates a cone behind theguars in which if ppl stand in dont take dmg (with a hefty cd ofc). I also believe there should be mechanics you just have to be prepared for dmg you will recieve and try your best to take it and live.

You dont need esports for a pvp game to grow you need fine tuning with the updates. And, enough chnages to keep the game feeling fresh. When pll play the same meta for months or years it gets stale and when it gets stale it starts to die.

Dire and traib are both defensive stat sets if would be brolen if you had the same preasure with this much added survivability. The stat sets are already too strong imo.

That does not answer my question. I can’t help but to tell a little bit more about the situation. I used to have a mostly exotic set, with rabid and viper. When I happened to be able to craft an ascended set, I decided to go full dire/trailblazer, because I’m reading to nausea on the forums that those stats are “oh so powerful”, or “ez mode”. I wanted to give it a try, and that’s honestly wrong. I don’t feel dragged by them at all, otherwise, I wouldn’t be here.

You should expect less dmg by oing this tansition to stat types. The gear sets are op not really because you eneneceraly do more dmg but because you do a little less while having a kitten tone of defensive stats to keep you alive. And for power builds is rather hard to deal with that. I think a stat type is too strong when i can get a comfortable 15stacks of torment confusion on mess and have like 27k hp and what? 1.8 -2k toughness?

Yeah but venom share doesnt have anythng to do with someone esle’s condis its your condis that are given to other’s attacks.

If power builds could tranfer full value of condi dmg back to their source why bother playing condi? Power does the job just fine

Honestly, this whole thread is why we can’t have nice things. In the future, ANet, consider just fixing the bug affecting players and not dealing with sending people stuff. I don’t think anyone in the beginning was seriously going to lose sleep over some missed loot, especially when the bug was fixed fast enough to still be able to complete the boss in the same week.

Kinda agree but ehh i apreciate their generocity on that matter.

There would be a million reasonable ways to change distort. Personally, I’d prefer if distortion sharing would be changed to aegis sharing. Invulnerable effects like distort should be reduced to the absolute minimum, i.e. few select skills like Renewed Focus, mesmer F4 or the engi elixir.

I dont believe that invuln shoudl be removed. It adds flavour and thats nice. But if you have a form of invuln it should always be personal and not a group effect. I feel kinda the same for aegis since its total dmg absorion for 1 isntance and i could lead to the same problems we have now. What i suggest will lead to overall more skillful play.

A big attack comes ppl are not in palce to survive it the healers top off everyone while the mesmers dish out the dmg reduction and afterr the attack everyone lives with 20-30% hp. I would also go as far as to in increase various cd’s in pve because of their group saving properties

Same raid group as int randInt return, cleared two raid wings (SF and SP) while the bug was active. 5/6 bosses gave loot to everyone, final boss (Matthias) dropped no loot for anyone. We killed him again and received loot, so didn’t end up losing any rewards, and as a result I’m not terribly upset, but according to your criteria should technically have received the make-up chest. I haven’t seen anything yet.

So yeah, something was definitely fouled up. Hopefully throwing some extra data on the pile will help solve it.

W8 dont you state here that in the end you got loot from the boss? Or the second kill was on a diff reset? If yes you shouldnt be eligible for a gift but data is always data

OP,

It’s people like you that voted for the garbage solo/duoQ after complaining of getting rekt in ranked matches. Now, ATs are the only way for a small group of friends to play competitively. My advice to you is to either stop playing PvP or stop complaining and get good.

I agree with you on the notion that the rewards are underwhelming, but I commend the Devs for giving us something to work with after killing 3-5 stack teams. I still think that reworking Stronghold into more of a GvG format would’ve been the way to go but the conquest ATs are a start.

Dynamic que was also a garbage system. The better system is to make pvp be either 2-3-5 premades or just 5 man but they wont.

You know sure they can play around it (deimos aoe) but id much rather have it been balanced and changed rather than the devs building encounters that flat out ignores it.

How about we makde distort a dmg reduction and when you talent for aoe disrot on signet it gives aoe dmg reduction for the same dur with a longer idc. Base distort ofc.

Also i believe its the grandmaster in illusions make that one turn the dmg reduction into invul and refect.

This change would make distort an “oh kitten” button while keeping the flavour (If traited) and its no longer a “mechanics lul” button

I actually agree with TexZero on this one. If a story mode is implemented (and I believe it should be – we do differ in opinion on that one), it shouldn’t reward legendary insights.

My preferred option would be a single champ bag and 1/4 to 1/2 the normal magnetite shard drops per boss (repeatable once weekly) – with the understanding that the unique raid skins/minis/infusions are locked on the vendor until the boss is beaten at least once on the more difficult level. That way, players would have another way (albeit REALLY slow) to obtain ascended gear (generic skins) while enjoying the content.

IMO, legendary should mean legendary. It should mean mastering every part of the game.

If it were up to me, ALL legendaries (armor, weapons, back pieces – all of it) would require reaching the top of the game in every mode – top 10 percent in PvP, X number of player kills in WvW, timed completion of every jumping puzzle, CM kills of every raid boss. As it is, they aren’t really legendary – just pretty items with adjustable stats.

There should be some prestige behind acquiring them, and there currently isn’t (that goes for legendary armor as much as any of the others).

Of course, I still believe there needs to be a story mode raid, just not one that gives any kind of legendary or legendary leaning reward.

I find that a just idea and i agree but legendary doesnt mean anything so ye 1 insight that ming you someone can buy is not legendary.

Yes, please. Gamelogs are not the be-all and end-all of knowledge, but reporting is a good idea and it may result in action on those who are misbehaving.

Yo this is somewhat a question on the matter for the raid/ fractals team. In wow if you for what ever reason leave the instnace (either dc or get kicked bfore the boss dying) you are sent an email with the loot you missed.

Ofc this works like the hearts in the legendary armor colection and only mail you your loot if you had a fair participation in the kill. Is there any chance this could be implemented in raids and fractals?

I love the fact this game is dead now, not going to lie.

I told everyone for years that power creep made the game not fun. Guess what…now everyone accepts this as a fact.

Hilarious to see everyone quit. This game isnt fun at all, that is all there is to it. Spam wars 2 where everyone does massive damage whilst being perma invulnerable.

Pretty much. HoT power creep killed any chance GW2 PvP had. What’s more dismaying is that the power creep is still at ridiculous levels nearly 2 years after HoT’s release.

Hot wasnt the main power creep. That was the trait merge patch where they randomly merged all traits.

They got rid of expereinced designers who understood risk and reward and understood how to create a game fun to play with and a game where other people were fun to fight against. They replaced these people’s power with those with no design experience.

Are you sure they kicked the class designers out? I believe they just simply moved them to elite specs 2 after the rework to traits was done and the last elite soec shipped.

Robert Gee is still at Arena Net as far as I know, I know he did a lot on Mesmer, Necro and I think Warrior for HoT and they were all very popular on release. I believe he also worked on the original classes when GW2 was being made but don’t quote me on that.

If they were well received then this game would not have rapidly declining incomes. The only conceptually well designed hot classes are repear and dragon hunter as they are replacement effects. Guardian still has 3 virutes, they are just different to dragon hunters 3. Same for repear and necro. So theoritically those classes can be balanced and necro can be as good as repear as it is just different skills.

On the other hand, chronomancer was terrible design because it is a strict upgrade on mesmer. Why would anyone play mesmer now when you get an extra skill with chronomancer? They wouldnt and they dont. This is clear power creep that invalidates base mesmer and it is terrible design. It also leads to people quitting because there is much less build variety now as you have to take the chronomancer line and whatever synergises with that.

All other classes except dragon hunter and repear are the same. The elite specs were upgrades not alternatives. And dragon hunter and repear ended up being much stronger than the base classes anyway. However that issue can be balanced out. You can never balance mesmer with chronomancer.

Someone whould not pick chrono if the next elite soec revolved around a mechanic that current mesmer/ chrono lacks.

The only issue i have with mes atm is that chrono allows AI run at light speed which results in them ignoring dodge even if you dodge into shatter making dodge obsolete in such scenario.

We’ve been over this many times, it’s not an issue born from superspeed on shatter it’s from the increased dodge range on UC. Even then with proper timing you don’t get hit by the shatter, it doesn’t make dodging obsolete it just means you need better timing.

So you actually defend the fact that thief cannot use withdraw or dash to avoid shatter effectively? Then i want dagger attacks go through invuls and blocks just because.

I don’t think it’s high on the priority of things to address about skills tbh especially when it’s on only 2 skills and 1 trait.

A better solution would be to address the fact shatters don’t actually work without superspeed because of all the movement speed increases given out to everyone and then change superspeed to swiftness. It may not address the issue of not triggering the detonation but at least you’ll have a second to dodge properly or just outrun them because those skills will put you further away from the shatters and you have the same speed.

And i would prefer if you stayed away from personal attacks and remained by discussion.
Point is, all Anet left thieves for defense is dodges, stealth is eh…… yeah, let’s not go there. So the main defense of the class is absolutely useless because of…. well, how should we put it nicely… oversight? And it is ok because core mes can’t land shatter?
I mean at this rate we can defend DHs pulling people into walls because DH is not used in tourneys kek.
I understand the problem with shatters not landing sometimes when clones don’t run like Flash across the map but this is different topic and you are welcome to post suggestions how to fix it without relying on exploits/bugs.

(Oh and as side note, did you know that downstate AI from mes ignore stealth completely and continue to attack you? I wonder how you would defend that <pulls popcorn>.)

All anet left thief is dodges 7 to be precice and whats wrong with stealth? i see thief managing a very good stealth uptime during fights so :/ . oh and pi i forgot that because they cant kill you if they cant use their skills lul.

We’ve been over this many times, it’s not an issue born from superspeed on shatter it’s from the increased dodge range on UC. Even then with proper timing you don’t get hit by the shatter, it doesn’t make dodging obsolete it just means you need better timing.

So you actually defend the fact that thief cannot use withdraw or dash to avoid shatter effectively? Then i want dagger attacks go through invuls and blocks just because.

I don’t think it’s high on the priority of things to address about skills tbh especially when it’s on only 2 skills and 1 trait.

A better solution would be to address the fact shatters don’t actually work without superspeed because of all the movement speed increases given out to everyone and then change superspeed to swiftness. It may not address the issue of not triggering the detonation but at least you’ll have a second to dodge properly or just outrun them because those skills will put you further away from the shatters and you have the same speed.

And i would prefer if you stayed away from personal attacks and remained by discussion.
Point is, all Anet left thieves for defense is dodges, stealth is eh…… yeah, let’s not go there. So the main defense of the class is absolutely useless because of…. well, how should we put it nicely… oversight? And it is ok because core mes can’t land shatter?
I mean at this rate we can defend DHs pulling people into walls because DH is not used in tourneys kek.
I understand the problem with shatters not landing sometimes when clones don’t run like Flash across the map but this is different topic and you are welcome to post suggestions how to fix it without relying on exploits/bugs.

(Oh and as side note, did you know that downstate AI from mes ignore stealth completely and continue to attack you? I wonder how you would defend that <pulls popcorn>.)

The only issue i have with mes atm is that chrono allows AI run at light speed which results in them ignoring dodge even if you dodge into shatter making dodge obsolete in such scenario.

is thag why ppl still dodge my shatters?

I love the fact this game is dead now, not going to lie.

I told everyone for years that power creep made the game not fun. Guess what…now everyone accepts this as a fact.

Hilarious to see everyone quit. This game isnt fun at all, that is all there is to it. Spam wars 2 where everyone does massive damage whilst being perma invulnerable.

Pretty much. HoT power creep killed any chance GW2 PvP had. What’s more dismaying is that the power creep is still at ridiculous levels nearly 2 years after HoT’s release.

Hot wasnt the main power creep. That was the trait merge patch where they randomly merged all traits.

They got rid of expereinced designers who understood risk and reward and understood how to create a game fun to play with and a game where other people were fun to fight against. They replaced these people’s power with those with no design experience.

Are you sure they kicked the class designers out? I believe they just simply moved them to elite specs 2 after the rework to traits was done and the last elite soec shipped.

I would like if anet went 1 step further and made a gen 2 leggie and the same type of gen 1 counter parts of an eternity like leggie. For example a bolt/??? hybrid that changes during day and night. Id really like that.

But this is a system that is for ppl who want the lore. It will ofc has rewards at the end ( some magnetide shards maybe 1 legendary insight and 2 greens 1 yellow) but only the first time.

And here’s your flaw.

You want story, you can do it without raid specific rewards.

That idea would be fine actually. Only upon first time completion, as he said. The raid equivalent of “the first time is free” and all.

Except it’s not as it actively devalues the work others put in.

I don’t care if you want a sack of blues/greens and maybe a rare. Those are all fine and dandy, but if you cannot even put together the time of day to do even the easiest of raid bosses at their current form, then you really do not deserve raid specific rewards. That means but is not limited to Shard, LI, any form of Raid unique drops/Vendor access.

Running escort is putting in hard work? Since when. xD

My point is more that the rewards should be unique and proportional. If people cannot be bothered to do escort or trio then they really should not be rewarded even as a one time gesture for a “Solo” powerpoint journey.

Arent the rewards exclusive? You can tunlock the unique skinsn if you dont clear the raid.

^Druid^: ok sustain good, okay burst heal, a 10% dmg buff. (^weapons^: Staff/ sword warhorn)

^Tempest^: great sustain, ok burst it also nice utility. (^weapon^: staff or idk some water element meme set)

^Gaurd^: amazing sustain, meh burst insane prot and aegis uptime. (^weapon^: mace and shield x2 (diff sigils) or mace shield /hammer)

^Rev^: meh sustain, INSane burst sone interesting utility.(“weapons”: staff/ sword and shield)

^Buffing classes: Chrono, Warr, Druid.^

^Chron^: GODLIKE BUFFING, abysmall personal dmg, insane dmg avoidance (personal and group wide) ideal tank (distort is just broken and trivialises the content). (^weapons^: sword and shield/focus/sword)

^Ps Warr^: meh dmg, good might output, great buffing through banners and ea, nice cc. (^weapons^: Gs / mace/axe and shield)

^CPs Warr^: great dmg, good might output, great buffing through banners, idk about cc tbh (this build is kinda broken atm) (^weapons^: longbow/ sword and torch)

^Condi/Power drud^: Sacrifice healing for dmg (are just there for spirits and Gotl(10%dmg buff) Condi>Power. (^weapons power^: sword and axe/warhorn/ longbow ^condi^: shortbow/ axe and torch)

^Dps classes: Guard, Tempest, Thief, Engi, Warr, Ranger, Necro, Rev, Mesmer.^

^Power/Condi Gaurd^: Nice dmg and ok buffing (mostly there for dmg) Condi scale better in aoe fight but its still weaker compaired to power. (^weapons power^: Gs / scepter and torch (mainly)^condi^: no clue lul)

^Power/Condi Tempest^: Power has ok dmg on small hitboxes and insane dmg on big ones(boss size) its also a harder class to master. Comdi ele is ez af and its broken overall. (^weapons power^: scepter/dagger and warhorn or staff ^condi^: scepter and dagger(?))

^Power/Condi Thief^: Good dps high mobility weak support ez playstyle. Condi is so broken its not even funny. (^weapons power^: staff (mainly) ^condi^: d/d)

^Power/Condi Eng^: Both good power has ok dps amd its easier to play. Condi provides a dmg buff to condi and alot of fieldblasting (iirc) More complex playstyle greater dmg output. (^weapon power^: rifle ^cond^: p/p)

^Condi Warr^: Really good dps low support, Not hard playstyle. (^weapons^: longbow/ sword and torch)

^Condi Ranger^: Really good dps, low on the support side. (^weapons^: shortbow/ axe torch)

^Condi mesmer^: great dmg on moving targets and targets that attack often. Meh dmg on static ones. (^weapons^: scepter and torch/pistol)

^Condi rev^ same case with condi mesmer. (^weapons^: Mace and axe x2 with diff sigils)

Stronger healer drud ( for all the wrong reasons)
All support/buff builds are needed
Strongest dps Tempest( condi>power>most other classes) and Condi thief. The rest are equaly good staff thief is fine tbh nice dmg.
