i said it times already
it is harder but its not really that hard to do rotation in raid boss and get higher dps .
you kept skipping this point . anyway .
gw2 in general isnt that hard , DH is one of easier dps . come on
No one said gw2 is hard i just said that this build is prob 1 step from world boss aaing whereas guard is a semi proper class with a rotation.
We have story instances for story, and fractals for repeatable 5-man content. I think this is good and healthy for the game.
Dungeons are worse at story than new story instances because people demand that you skip cutscenes and run through as fast as possible. Most dungeon cutscenes I’ve watched on youtube because I didn’t want to form a group that was willing to take their time.
Dungeons are worse than fractals at repeatable content because they are not variable difficulty and by their nature of being tied to story include dialog that gets tedious after doing it many times (some fractals have fallen into this as well, but the design space is open for fractals to avoid this as opposed to dungeons).
In order to make dungeons, I’d imagine they have to pull people from the story and/or fractal teams. This would slow down the release of both of those types of content. I don’t think it would be worth releasing content that is mediocre at both repeatability and story, and slowing down the release of separate content that is better at its own niche.
Welp for one the can make cutscenes client based instead of a forced 1 shared by everyone.
Thats the “issue” about the boon system u cant really be away from the rest and still get easily buffed.
The underlying idea is sound. Trade defensive value (the movement) for offensive (the ambush).
That’s where the good ends. The ambushes are so badly balanced that most of the time I wish I could AA instead, and as a result the gain in damage can’t remotely hope to keep up with the loss of defense.
Further, beyond normal dodging our ability to gain cloak through mirrors is just… poor. Generation is astonishingly bad, and they last ~3x-4x too short. Should be 8-12 seconds.
play holosmith or scourge or spellbreaker seems to be best solution to me until anet rework mirage from ground .
Which wont happen because it doesnt need it.
Infact can we get into this great delusion that Anet are going to buff the numbers? It took 5 years for them to give us a decent damage % trait and we are still dead last in DPS builds, even without taking into account how our mechanics don’t mesh with PvE. We are still waiting for CD reductions, buffs to weak auto attacks and the laughable damage of the weak attacks slapped on to Phantasm summoning skills.
Dead last in dps on a golem and dead last on an actual raid isnt really the same.
True, but banking on the fact that realistic damage scenarios being in your favor versus a static and always similar test scenario is very foolish. Especially when the class you are playing has contradictory mechanics and a long windup time due to having to summon part of its damage. What’s your point?

I suppose you missed the meaning of that What im saying is that practice makes better.
No, he didn’t miss your meaning. You never talked about practice but instead are assuming arenanet are going to bring us some magical buffs which will improve the class. Guess what, if everything is fine and people are content with the crapfest of mirage as it is now, those buffs will never come.
Actually those buffs might never come regardless since arenanet are happy with mirages current state. That alone would have every semi-intelligent persons alarmbells go off.
Statement that anet is fine with current mirage? The community ahs been quite vocal about mirage’s underwhelming performance. What i dissagree with the general community on is that mirage needs tweaks and polish rather tha fundemental reworks. Also implied that its a matter of practice.
As for dps my dps isnt comming from me doing complex rotations. It comes from me summoning my phantasms at the start then aa my way to 30k. A 30k thats way easier to achieve than with power engi power thief guard ele condi dps/ps warr etc. Thats my point.
Everything is a matter of practice, that is valid for every class thus every class can be expected to improve.
Your 30k dps are clearly dps golem values and it becomes clear you’ve never actually played power mesmer in a raid, I have.
Guess what, even with a simple rotation which takes about 10 seconds to reach peak damage (which is insanely long compared to classes like elementalist or guardian who peak at the start of their rotation) we are dead last on just about every boss unless your dps are terrible players.
Sure engi has a very tough rotation, that’s bound to change with Holo. Necromancer isn’t meta for many fights too, might change with scourge. No mesmer will take damage placements from any semi decent warrior, elementalist, guardian, thief or even ranger.
Maybe actually play the classes you are commenting on first. You clearly have not played guardian, condi warrior or thief in raids.
The opener doesnt hold insane value in a raid where a boss kill can take anywhere from 2 mins to 4-5.
I have played thief and giard in raids and i have played power mesmer in fractals ( a little).
Its much easier to stay on a respectable number during stressful phases since alot of your dmg doesnt need you to be the one constandly attacking or landing ground targets.
Your dps also moves with the boss an upsaude for the lack of good aoe.
Right, so let me get this straight:
- power mesmer is a thing since august 8th
- guardian is a thing in raids mostly since august 8th (I did run mine 1nce or twice before that but doubt that pugs ran a lot of guardians)
- thief while having decent damage even before August 8th were usually not meta or didn’t get taken along, at least not for all 4 wingsYou have been very vocal about mesmer pve on the forums for someone who basically has 0 clue of what he is talking about (even about chronomancer nerfs)… Don’t you think it might be time to first gather some experience on mesmer and other classes in an endgame enviroment before explaining to others how the class works or should be balanced?
Fyi I’m maining mesmer and warrior in raids (full clears of all wings multiple times 10+ each), have run guardian and revenant through multiple raids (guardian 3+ full clears of all wings, revenant back when wing1 was only available 10+ clears). You don’t see me harping around on the elementalist or druid boards about how their classes should get balanced do you?
Neither u see me talk about other classes than mesmer.
but you claim its so hard to get dps DH rotation done in raid.
also from your posts , we all saw you lack knowledge of fractal and raid .
No, i claim getting golem dps is harder with guard than it is with power dps mesmer.

Character progression irrelevant with new content. Kinda late since we knew that from back in the demo.
Masteries are character progression. Time i spend unlocking things which now in pof are useless because you dont require hot. Thats sooooo crap. Instead of making progression meaningless just give us alternative way to get to places and explore with the help of hot masteries. This feels just like underwater and anet abandoning it the diff is hot masteries arent trash.
Since i cba t make a diff thread about this and im already talking about masteries i might as well include it here.
Why are there not lore masteries? Masteries about getting familiar with the ppl of elona. The awoken, the djin, the elonians, the margonites( if theres any), the forgotten (if theres any). I understand that gliding was the best and mount improve on that but come on there are so many interesting groups in this expac why not take the opportunity to improve the lore based ones as well
Sadly, PoF is standalone, so you won’t require HoT to play it anyway, and some people won’t have HoT. They can’t make it too exclusive. HoT masteries will make small appearances however, as they have already confirmed gliding is a fairly important mastery to have even in the desert.
That doesnt mean it cant have updraft of mushrooms or w/e. U missunderstood me im not saying lock ways of exploring behind hot im saying for hot players give us hot way to get to places you can also get with mounts or by being a parkour pro.
Well as I said, they have confirmed and it was in the beta weekend, you can use gliding a lot with updrafts there to reach locations you wouldn’t be able to as early.
U have a mention of updrafts be there etc?
so people still think at Anet everybody can do everything?
people have their jobs with specific tasks, like in any other company, so taking the event team to do something else -> not gonna happen.
how do you even know they’re not working on something atm?
just because there are no current live events, doesn’t mean they’re just sitting back twiddling their fingers…
Curent events team is the do w/e team according to some dev responses
Finish astralaria one of these days…
It does give you super speed as the 3rd GM (which is stupid that it takes up a GM slot), and it’s not actually distortion, if Mirage cloak gave us distortion Mirage would be absolutely kittening fantastic and I guarantee no one here would be complaining about it as much as they are.
Mirage cloak essentially sacs your mobility for a better pure defense evade since you can activate it at any point in time, including while you’re airborne or CCed, unlike dodge. Whether that’s worth the mobility trade off is debatable though.
Since they said specializations were upgrades to the classes, I think they should add a little blink to the cloak to make it useful. Otherwise I’m not getting into this spec which uses the weapon I hate most.
Have they said that elite specs are supposed to be upgraded? Because last I saw they said they were supposed to be side grades IE no overall improvement, just variation. But that was back when HoT was announced so their stance could’ve changed.
If it did change, yes, a blink would be fantastic, if not they better make superspeed work in all directions, but if they do it’d be alright.
No but nerfing gen 1 to gen 2 lvls wont happen so might as well buff gen 2 to their lvl.

I doubt you really played raid that often . the opener matters for vg , sab , kc , xera ,whole wing 4 (except carin). and it still matters but not much for sloth and gors .
still you didn’t answer my question :
how you clean shards on xera , orb on gors etc etc with dps mesmer .
people don’t run dps mesmer for many reasons . your dps mes takes one slot then rest of your team have to make up for that lacking of aoe . it’s a huge problem for boss like xera .power mes in fractal lol is even trashier than in raid .
And guard rotation is not much harder anyway . what’s stressful phases you can’t do higher number on DH , except that very situational matt .
Idk managing to do the rotation at a rate where you will easily get 30k+ at least to me felt harder than with playing power mesmer.
How does condi thief or condi ranger clear shards on xera orbs on gorse? They dont they let other classes to it with less trouble while they focus on dpsing the boss.
As for the ramp up time the change ori ori suggests to phantasmal force could cut down alot of it.
@zealex.9410
which raid boss you feel that retarget will help a lot ? also did someone in this thread or other already tell you that your imagined uselessness does not work ?require shatter to gain some rng weak bonus is not interact with shatter .20s cd , 33% rng on top of shatter lol
illusion dies when target dies , nothing to do with their hp . in new fractal , most bosses can only be retargeted after mini boss dies. so yeah this is huge mechanical flaw .
you are happy with a noob friendly build which core condi /power mes already offer and they are exactly same playstyle for entire class ? well you can be happy with that . but for many of us who raid often ,whats the point of this elite spec for pve ?it only often 2 passive traits for raids .
and can mirage clean shards for xera , can mirage do cannon , can mirage clean anything in most raid bosses , no you can’t .other classes could help much more while mirage only does single target dps and not great at it .yeah its noob friendly , but if you want smoother raid clean , you will play other dps . you can fill dps spot with other single class but u can’t do this with mirage for most bosses .
thief is locked into one action that is a kittening evading .
mirage does not offer more dmg avoidance(actually it has less dmg avoidance ) , it is supposed to make your dodge more useful but it failed horribly . nor does this matter for raid anyway . and in few boss fights , mirage dodge will be a huge downgrade as if it isn’t already (matt , non distortion green vg, sloth, and whole wing 4)
remember anet said they want mesmer being high skill ceiling class as excuse to nerf mesmer , what is high skill ceiling for dps mesmer build , u can’t improve over a stupid AI build.
and did you actually test that that two retarget skill ?
did you actually test Crystal Sands ("hardly a rework require ") its not an actual aoe and it hardly hits for full stacks .
Because increasing the hitbox of the shards in crystal sands would be a total rework yeah right.
The synergies are there even if you find them weak.
its not just hitbox thing , it got blocked too often by random stuff or some hidden hitbox . also it only really works on pure flat place?well this is not a problem for raid but still ? .its only worth its cd if it hits full stacks .how about just making it a plain aoe .
what are the synergies ? you listed things , i proved that they did not work without mechanic change .
not to mention problem with phants .
axe 3 and iambush teleport you to random place , there is nothing to do with numbers.shatter still deletes your dps , but mirage has traits to get mirror from shatter without meaningful clone generation . how its not mechanic issue ? unless you buff shatter dmg to broken op .
how those things make sense to you ?and you talked about how useful retarget is , then me and someone both proved you are hyped over nothing .(you were saying nightmare boss 1 and 2 , shatter boss 2 and 3 . and few raid bosses .can you just admit you were wrong for this part ?
can you record you play mirage next time , and lets see how things work for you .
Its a mechanic change to remove the % to summon a mirror on shatter? In my eyes not really just a realistic qol change. The problem of shatters being partially useless in pve is a mesmer issue i dont expect mirage to solve it. Mirage has ok clone generation but it could be better again small teaks to some of the traits
Also have it crosed your mind that this spec is made based around pvp? Much like spellbreaker is a pvp spec and deadeye looks to be more of a pve spec.
Again, you’re judging the entire product on one topping.
And again, why pre-order? It’s a net benefit to not pre-order. If it turns out that PoF is released unplayable and to get it working they have to disable 4 elite specs entirely until after christmas, you didn’t waste money on it.
Is that likely? No ofc not.
But is there a benefit to throwing money on a developer on goodwill alone? Nope. Might as well hold off and see how the finished product stacks up against its cost.
well mirage is worst thing about pof so far , and most of my friends bought pof already even tho i fear pof map seems to be more grindy , but overall its ok to preorder .
Nah the worst thing about the expac is the content in the new maps or rather the lack of it.
Adding a blink would defeat the purpose of the new dodge.
Why?
It should be quite easy to implement:
- you press dodge key without movement key depressed – Mirage cloak works as it is now
- you press dodge key WITH movement key depressed – you blink in the direction as you would dodgeThe purpos of mirage cloack is to let u use skills during the evade frame blinking would take that away. And standing still to be able to use a skill would just be another blured frenzy. Instead just make superspeed work on every direction.
blink does not have a frame , blink is instantly what you are talking about ?
Blink will interupt some action depending how long in the channel u are and what not. Plus blinking could also interupt ressing and fail to stomps etc.
wait, so.. all we’re going to get are the mount masteries?
I didn’t inform myself alot (intentionally), but I always assumed ANet just didn’t show us everything yet, and we will get some other masteries, such as the nuhoch, itzel, etc. masteries from HoT…Just mount masteries.
TBH, while the other masteries were nice, they didn’t really serve any purpose, other than to lock content away (like vendors), and once you had them, you never had to think of them again.
Like the gliding mastery they could improve upon.
Character progression irrelevant with new content. Kinda late since we knew that from back in the demo.

What about the incoming expansion?
They dont work on it afaik. And what you know about the expac i know. Nothing guild related other than the gh (and only 1 at that (and with a god kitten hole in the middle of the gh arena rip gvgs))
Since you dont have them doing any current events. Why not have them do something meaningful? Like add new guild activities and guild missions? Weekly guild raid runs as and guild fractals runs as a way to get guildies to play together for a greater reward.

Hot should ahve had a dungeon or 2 going in mor depth about rata novus and another one that goes into more depth finding out what happened inside the city of ratanovus etc and about the nightmare court. Sure we have already 1 nightmare court but this will be telling the story of the nightmare court during the hot the fall of faolain etc.

which raid boss you feel that retarget will help a lot ? also did someone in this thread or other already tell you that your imagined uselessness does not work ?require shatter to gain some rng weak bonus is not interact with shatter .20s cd , 33% rng on top of shatter lol
illusion dies when target dies , nothing to do with their hp . in new fractal , most bosses can only be retargeted after mini boss dies. so yeah this is huge mechanical flaw .
you are happy with a noob friendly build which core condi /power mes already offer and they are exactly same playstyle for entire class ? well you can be happy with that . but for many of us who raid often ,whats the point of this elite spec for pve ?it only often 2 passive traits for raids .
and can mirage clean shards for xera , can mirage do cannon , can mirage clean anything in most raid bosses , no you can’t .other classes could help much more while mirage only does single target dps and not great at it .yeah its noob friendly , but if you want smoother raid clean , you will play other dps . you can fill dps spot with other single class but u can’t do this with mirage for most bosses .
thief is locked into one action that is a kittening evading .
mirage does not offer more dmg avoidance(actually it has less dmg avoidance ) , it is supposed to make your dodge more useful but it failed horribly . nor does this matter for raid anyway . and in few boss fights , mirage dodge will be a huge downgrade as if it isn’t already (matt , non distortion green vg, sloth, and whole wing 4)
remember anet said they want mesmer being high skill ceiling class as excuse to nerf mesmer , what is high skill ceiling for dps mesmer build , u can’t improve over a stupid AI build.
and did you actually test that that two retarget skill ?
did you actually test Crystal Sands ("hardly a rework require ") its not an actual aoe and it hardly hits for full stacks .
Because increasing the hitbox of the shards in crystal sands would be a total rework yeah right.
The synergies are there even if you find them weak.

Your dps also moves with the boss an upsaude for the lack of good aoe.
only reliable mobility is sword ambush , but why you play power mirage in pve ?
Because its fun For condi melee, I prefer Firebrand, much more satisfying.
As to mobility: Jaunt is strictly superior to Blink (stunrbeak aside), at least for the way I play the game.
Power anything is better in open world pve rather than condi. Mobs much squishier.
So during the yesterday’s stress test I have tried my best to test Mirage in open world… and results are quite underwhelming. To me it is like adding Mirage to basic Mesmer is actually downgrade in many ways:
- Mirage cloak:
— loss of movement is TERRIBLE – I was getting hit by AoE’s all the time while on any other class I would be simply outside of the AoE thanks to normal dodge
— combine this with root while using scepter ambush (probably only ambush which is usable now) and result is terribad
— overall Mirage cloak is offensive tool and loss of dodge movement is crippling in aoe heavy environment
— fix would be easy – just add instant blink to Mirage cloak with dodge range – then Mirage Cloak will be purely advantageous compared to normal dodge-Ambush skills
— not worth of using in most cases (except for scepter where the root while casting is terrible too)
- ambush window is way to short – some of the autoattack chains are actually longer (GS)-Mirrors
— was not able to use them to any real advantage – may be L2P issueOverall:
– I had no problem playing open PvE – but it is no achievement as one handed monkey can do so with every class
- playing Mirage felt very clunky, there was no real flow felt
- I pretty much completely ignored shatter mechanic as it contradicts with Mirage heavilyWell yeah… I am depressed as I do not think I will be able to play my favorite class…. at least new map is gorgeous so I will enjoy it with some other toon.
Adding a blink would defeat the purpose of the new dodge.

Mainhand pistol needs a daze on pistol 2 or 3. Just a 3/4s one, but a nice solid interrupt would be an absolute requirement on any mainhand pistol in my opinion, to better open up synergy with the pistol dueling theme that the mesmer itself naturally possesses.
Thats true. I also want the pistol to be unique in some way idk how but id like not to have an unload and w/e else maybe a back dodge with that daze and something else with skill 3
I mean… that’s like being skeptical to buy a burger because you don’t know if they use Heinz Ketchup or Hunt’s. If you choose not to buy PoF because the elite spec of one of the professions isn’t what you want, that is.
Independent of which, it’s still always better to not buy into pre-order culture, and instead just buy after release.
You don’t exactly order that burger 10 weeks in advance without even knowing you’ll want a burger on that day, either. If someone values their main’s elite spec enough to be unsure whether they can enjoy the expansion if it (expectably) turns out to be rubbish, then that’s a very valid reason to not throw money at a company for an unreleased product.
Again, you’re judging the entire product on one topping.
Theres not many toppings with this product so we can be abit more picky
I always found the nature behind butterflies and mesmer really fitting. Thats because butterflies are generally a loved insect. U wont run from a butterfly in first site rather u will strech your arm to try have it land on your palm. Much like that mesmer wants to make you open up to him become vulnerable. The shrek u with mind crushing magic etc.
But yours also looks neat.
Yeah I love the animations on Firebrand axe too.
The aa animations are kinda lack luster (mostly basic axe animations u find everywhere). But the symbol as well as the tome skills and mantras are pretty neat.
We have about 120 devs working on the live game, 70 devs on Expac2, and 30 devs on core teams that support both. Within these groups we have cross-discipline teams with focused missions. For example on Live we have the PvP team, the WvW team, the Fractals team, the Raids team, the Living World team, the Legendaries team, and a couple others. The teams are charged with carrying a feature from inception and design through completion. When they finish, we typically package work from multiple teams into a single release, then we hand it off to release teams for final voice integration, localization, QA, and release management.
What I can say is that we are working towards completing the entire set of 16 HoT legendary weapons (sorry underwater). Of the 13 left, they are all in various stages of concept, modeling and design, but the two that are furthest along in development are the Short Bow and the Mace.
Also, note the awkward phrasing:
This team of developers will instead shift their efforts back to Living World style content, building new journeys and events for everyone to participate in.
Which does not mean that another team couldn’t have picked it right back up.
I will take the ceo’s word over assumptions. Iirc the this quote is from an ama? which was before the acouncement that legendary weapon would be suspended.
Much like with legendary armor total w8 time for first set was 2 years if they ever made a new one it would be around 1 maybe less.
Actually they are not making another.
So by your comparison, they buffed scepter and won’t buff axe.
for 1 i said “if”. Also, they also said that legendary weapons were suspended right after chuka (or before idr) and here we are 6 legendaries later.
They said collections were suspended because they took too much time to make and if things broke it took a lot of manpower to fix. That’s why all the newer legendaries don’t have any collections attached to them. You just make weapons.
Hi all,
In the upcoming Spring 2016 Quarterly Update, we’ll launch the new legendary short bow, Chuka and Champawat. The team outdid themselves on this one. This new precursor journey takes you through a memorable experience inspired by a real-world story, and the bow you craft at the end is the perfect commemoration of that journey. I hope you all check it out.
Last year we talked about plans to gradually build out a second set of legendary weapons through live content updates. That’s a big responsibility. We have a team of six developers working on that, who could work on it for years to come.
As game director I have to make tough trade-offs. One thing I believe is that we have to focus on the core game first before taking on additional responsibilities. I wrote in the Guild Wars 2 Design Manifesto in 2010 that our vision was to create a living, dynamic world, where there’s always something to do. Let’s ensure we succeed on that front.
So, after shipping Chuka and Champawat, I’ve asked that we indefinitely suspend work on new legendary weapons. This team of developers will instead shift their efforts back to Living World style content, building new journeys and events for everyone to participate in.
I know this will be a controversial decision. I’ll hang out with you here on the forums for a little while today to discuss it. And I’m always available by email.

Yeah because i dont see these “huge mechanical flaws”. I believe the spec is 70% there and just needs further polish.
mirage main mechanic-mirror which doesn’t work
and that is huge mechanical flaws .No. Mirage’s main mechanic is mirage cloak. Mirrors is another mechanic that servers mirage cloak.
no interact with shatter
Minor Master [Nomad’s Endurance] Shatter skills give vigor, which grants Condition damage.
Major Adept [Riddle of Sand] When entering combat, your first Ambush attack applies confusion. This ability refreshes when you use a Shatter skill.
but traits require shatter to gain bonus for ambush or mirror , check .Major Master [Shards of Glass] Shattered Illusions have a chance of becoming Mirage Mirrors.
no way to generate clone but require clone + a GM trait IH for ambush to be meaningful bonus dmg , check .
Major Adept [Self-Deception] Using a Deception skill will create a clone if you have exactly two illusions active.
Major Master [Mirrored Axes] Reduce recharge of axe skills. Axe skills generate an additional phantom axe.
[Lingering Thoughts] Clone ½ Spin forward and strike multiple times, inflicting conditions and leaving a mirage at your starting position. If an enemy is near the mirage when it expires, a clone is summoned.
superspeed on dodge but it doesn’t work backward or sidewalk ,this makes whole mirage dodge a downgrade to normal dodge in half of situation , also it takes a minor trait for that , check .
Ok. This one id assume the devs didnt think when they went about adding supperspeed on dodge. I’d assume thats something that the devs are now aware through feedback and will try to adress.
if those are not huge mechanical flaw to you , i don’t know what is huge ?
A huge mechanical flaw would be like renegades sb3 be limiting as to having control of the point where the arrows will connect
A huge mechanical flaw was scourge’s portal crashing servers etc.
To me what mirage suffers from is that it has the mechanics but theya rent perfect and need some further work. But nothing in the lines of a total rework.not to mention ,as a dps spec , mirage does not fix many many core mes problem to deal meaningful dps in pve .
Have you seen the atrocity that is power dps mesmer 30k is in no way not meaningful esp when its so easy to upkeep.
long setup time , check
I suppose mesmer has idd “long” setup times, got me there i suppose.
illusion dies with target , check
Good thing in the newer and reworked isntanced fractals where you are in a group phantasms will rarely be targeted.
I can see with clones that being an issue and id like the devs buffing their hp.retarget does not work on most raid bosses , check (i know many are hyped for this one without thinking actual boss fight )
Good think uy got to play raids and u came to that conclusion. Lucky u i wasnt able to get to play mirage in raids and t4 fractals.
illusions don’t get any bonus from sigil or rune , check
Id love that to happen but that might be hard to balance or even hard to implement.
on top of those , mirage does not offer new playstyle for pve , you just replace chaos line with mirage line and take passive traits for small numbers gain. tho its not huge mechanical flaw , it failed one of elite spec purpose : offer new playstyle .
Im quite hyped to simply go on about doing my rotation without carring about aoes and mechanics and not only that avoiding them even lead to a dps increase. U can argue thief has that but thats thief and it lock him in 1 action whereas in mirage u are free to do w/e.
you can argue it may offer some sort of new but far weaker build for pvp , thing is mirage line does not have build defining traits like chrono line or illusion line does .
Dmg avoidance, mirrors the concept of deceiving your enemies since you no longer parkour out of aoe. It not perfect but its not as bad that you would take it back to drawing board.
Imo allowing as to move easier to mirrors to get access to ambush skills as well as the ambush skills dealing more dmg and more secured dmg (instead of praying that the enemy wont a-d his way out of the scepter ambush or the the staff one.
And a few buff to the numbers of the utility skills (jaunt in specific)
The only hard rework i want to see is Illusionary Ambush and Mirage Advance to be merged into 1 skill. But not sure if that would be too strong.
oh and Crystal Sands this to have like quickstand under the area the projectiles spawn so its easier to hit (hardly a rework to add a cripple)
“Lmao no one is saying mirage is perfectly viable and balanced.”
next post
“Lmao Mirage is fine”
My fault for feeding the troll.
Yeah because i dont see these “huge mechanical flaws”. I believe the spec is 70% there and just needs further polish.
= Mirage is fine? Idk where you see that.

Dead last in dps on a golem and dead last on an actual raid isnt really the same.
I find it hilarious how even the most advent defenders of Mirage in this thread by page 3 have started to throw in things like:
- yes it’s clunky but I like it
- stuff can get buffed
- they might change it
- it’s a tradeoff
- people should be less negative, I’m sure arenanet will fix thingsMust be hard to defend an elite when the best arguments one can muster when confronted by some basic facts is:“I’m sure they’ll come around to fixing stuff”.
What do people actually think why there is criticism and why people are speaking up? It’s so that arenanet take notice because their trackrecord of fixing, balancing or even keeping mesmer basic functional is abysmal.
Lmao no one is saying mirage is perfectly viable and balanced.
There are lots of people who are denying the huge glaring mechanical flaws of mirage or the lazy, uninspired traits and think just tweeking a number here or there will fix it. Including you.

No. Devs have said they are aware people want build templates, but they are not a priority and will not be a part of PoF release
This pretty much sums up the state of the game.
I think it was more like it was too much work to get on time for pof. Which tru spagetti code rarely allows us to have nice things.
I mean the game has to sustain to provide these updates. They are free for like a month or 2 at a time then they go b2p which isfair id say.
If they turn gw2 into yet another korean anime fanboy game I am out of here.
Because having flying swords in a fantasy setting automatically turns it into korean anime, right?
And i thought it was the p2w aspects.
If they turn gw2 into yet another korean anime fanboy game I am out of here.
Idk this game is pretty random to considered anything at this point so why not let the chinese fellows have some fun.
You can’t use Sword3 in the middle of Sword2. Using Sword3 on someone stunned from Shield5 is redundant in most cases. Using Shield5 does not help you get your Moa out, as they’re probably evading your Shield5 and therefore your Moa. Citing CS is irrelevant, because that’s not a cover skill, it gives you a free cast and is quite literally it’s purpose (that’s like saying the use of Mimic to cast Blink means you waste 2 skills).
I don’t know what Mantra you’re running to be able to make the difference between a kill and a death, so if you’d like to give an example, that’d be nice.
I find thedaze mantra and the dmg mantras quite good. i can see stun mantra staging ambush skills really well and dmg mantra just giving me that little edge on dmg to burst someone all the more easily.
U can time sword 2 right before u use sword 3. Dodging shield 5 and moa has to do with the played that doesnt stop the fact that ppl can use shield5 sword 3 and the n moa to get off a safer moa than just casting moa alone.
Tbh a hero oanek with your history with each encounter would be neat but prob alot of work to replace something thats already working pretty fine.
So you’re assuming that Mirage is going to be good because it’s a possibility that they can make changes?
Pretty much. Bcause they havent sold me the box yet because of how weaker the gen 2 soec seem compaired to gen1. Which tbf its understandable.
Mantras are not a risk rework (reward?) ability. That’s what they function as on paper, but the in-combat cast doesn’t really exist and the reward is not worth the risk. Saying that you can dodge to get it out means that you’re using another ability to get it out. It’s actually very similar to saying: “Well, Mantras are very strong because you can just cast them in stealth.” That’s entirely true, but it also means you’re using a (long) stealth cooldown to get out a Mantra, which is usually not worth that much.
Additionally, since apparently that statement was confusing: Just because something bad has the possibility of being changed, does not make it good or desirable in their current state.
Ofc its not good or desirable in its current state im not argueing that im argueing that being all negative about it is needless because it could very well be changed polished or w/e to be good.
Also i recall alot of that would use sword 3 mid cast of either sield 5 or sword 2 to ensure they will be telepprted on their immobilised target to secure that their skill will land. I also remember ppl using ahoeld 5 or cs to sucesfully cast moa.
Thw consept of covering you skills has always existed why is it in this case a problem. Why should you treat it as a problem instead of another layer of depth in this game?
Im not saying the mantras are nearly as powerful as moa is but they are pretty decent and can mean the diff in a killing the enemy or dying.
