OK, i do recognize that the staff is supposed to be a support weapon in some regard, but there are better choices. It’s designed to be an aoe weapon limited to a cone in front of the guardian.
Here’s a quote from another post in the WvW forums. Maybe this will shed some light about just how big of a nerf this is:
“Let me put this in another way as I don’t think people understand just how much of a nerf this is. While the range has been cut in half, it’s effectiveness has been nerfed way more than that. At 600 unit range with a 170 degree ark, it covered an area of 534,000 units. Cut the range in half, it will now cover an area of 134,000 units. That translates to a 75% reduction in area! That’s insane!”
Just out of curiosity. Does that calculation of 75% reduction of area include the increase of the attack angle from 90 degrees to 110 degrees?
Just by the basic geometry math, cutting the range (radius) by half reduces the effective area to 1/4, so at least the 75% reduction is partially correct.
110/90 * .25 = ~30%.
Still a huge increase in the overall area and probably should have justified a damage boost to the auto attack, at least.
well it justified the buffs to the rest of the weapon skills lul

Yet another example of how you punish those of us who won’t buy your crappy HoT expansion.
We are playing a gamemode that does not require an expansion pack to play in any of the maps and has NEVER required an expansion pack to play in any of the maps, but you want to use vital skills and abilities in WvW? Better pony up the money and pay for HoT or you will just be weakened more and more relative to other players who pay 4 skills.
First, you lock away Shield Generator use from those of us without HoT. Sure, we can “use” the item to keep the siege refreshed, but we can’t actually use ANY of the shield gen skills (and they are very important pieces of siege in wvw).
Now, you add insult to injury by leaving us grounded while HoT-owning teammates can just glide into structures while we have to run on the ground and get zerged down like a bunch of plebs.
The more vital skills you put behind a paywall, the more the gamemode becomes P2W. This is a gamemode that is (more or less) totally divorced from the content of the expansions. But, still, you link vital skills to those expansions and screw those of us who refuse to support your choice to carve up the game into walled skill gardens that require $$$$ to access them.
Now, more than ever, I won’t pay for HoT or the new expansion because I fundamentally disagree with how you willfully kitten those of us who refuse to buy your stupid p.o.s. expansions.
More and more reasons to quit the game again. Anet as a company has NO RESPECT for those of us who just want to wvw. It’s bad enough we don’t have access to new classes/elite skills/masteries, but now no shield gen use or gliding either. Lame.

Wonder what dps you could get out of a condi shatter build currently, doubt it wll be much but I’m curious and don’t have access to the game currently to try.
Mirage has lots of bleeds it seems. Adding also burning would prob be abit overkill.
Yeah, bit of a shame. I think overall I’d genuinely prefer Confusion to just deal damage on skill activation again, but it’d require a massive overhaul of the entire condition / skill mechanic in the game to be viable across modes.
That would never be viable in PvE, but for WvW/PvP that would probably be best for confusion in order to keep its uniqueness.
The conditions are split anyway so what’s to stop them giving PvP confusion 10% of the PvE tick but maybe even higher skill damage?
Theoretically nothing. Realistically balance is stopping them. With such a drastic change to confusion they would have to do a complete balance of all skills/traits/runes that can apply confusion and look at the duration and number of stacks. That would be a big undertaking that might as well be accompanied by an entire overhaul to the condition system instead of just addressing confusion.
They dint split functionallity of conditions across games modes if x thing does soemthing it does it everywhere.
They could however, swap condusion and torment from pve skills amd traits with more viable condis. And have torment and confusion being a pvp wvw specific condi. And then, tune their unique aspects higher rather than their generic ones.
I will take usefulness and viability over “flavour” any time of the week.

Depends on how finely tuned they are each to its role. The bow is already great for wvw. Hammer and shield need some buffs and maybe does the dps of the sword.
Idk if shiro/jalis could even be a good dps with minor support for the group i havent seen any benchamarks or tests ti tell you.
I don’t think this would catch on as you can’t run Natural Resonance while pulsing Impossible Odds. You’d probably still have to take Herald as none of the other traitline’s have anything that would help a power spec’s dps as much as Elder Force does. And at that point, you might as well be running Natural Resonance, since the utility for your group/opening up their gearing would out-perform the 10% damage you’re getting from IO. Now if they reduced IO’s upkeep to 8 in PvE only we might have something.
The reason you can get away with Mallyx/Jalis/No Herald Traitline is because Torment is so strong in some of the fights that Revenant can realistically replace a lot of dps classes. I don’t think Power Rev has the deeps to flat out replace a dps class without bringing anything else to the table.

We have first try 1st and 2nd boss easy without any fall. we go on 3rd boss , 100% to 30% under 5min. after 30% every die. how to dps anomaly on a disapear ground while get dammage by elit mesmer atk from boss while he do his dammage’s pull in same time , while red balls every where… every ppl die under 20sec… just insane.

@Cameron Isnt the anomaly time based anymore? I didnt get any anomalies during the bloom phase on cm. It kinda makes it too ez.
Haven’t played myself yet, but, is 100CM the same as before but without bugs now or are there other adjustments to difficulty, phases?
We made quite a few changes, but the major change to 100CM was in the ways the bloom phase functioned, as well as the blooms themselves:
- Blooms now bounce off walls instead of sticking to them
- Blooms now occur at 80%, 50%, and 30% – and no longer occur based on a timer. This means you always get to choose when you encounter the bloom phase.
We also fixed various bugs, so the encounter should be a lot smoother now.
I did 100cm last night, and I will say I love the Blooms bouncing off the walls. I didn’t notice it no longer on a timer because my group had good DPS to hit the % before the timer would have occurred anyhow. I will say though, the last bloom phase would seem to make more sense at 25% because the previous phases you’re in them for 20% before blooms while for the last phase you’re only in it for 10% before blooms. I know having it occur at 20% would be too low because you could potentially burst easily to sub 10% from the CC but at 25% you’d only be able to burst to about 15% which starts the final phase.
Not quite understand what happened withthe last phase whats the diff from before?
If anything it is harder since you can’t luck out and have the floors not disappear. Also invisible enemies bug going on right now is annoying.

Suppose your numbers are right, one you can play half asleep to get those numbers, the other you have to focus or lose like 1/3rd of it.
If you remove GotL, druid will still be by far the most popular healer in pve, because it will still have Spotter, Empower and spirits. Ele simply doesn’t have a place as a pve support. All it gives is a bunch of boons nobody cares about.
Ok? we had that for all kinds of classes. Even up there in the 40s you have condis thieves overpowering you. This is small hitbox btw large one you are prob first dps regardless.

Theres a trait that when you shatter you get your phantasm’s boons so idk maybe someoen can come u with a sword offhand build.

Its a perfectly viable dps (which idk if it should be) and a great support. What would you prefer demolishing tempest’s dps mounths ago or 1 month and something extra before the expac?

Maybe too big of a patch? Or they want to do more balance changes yet. Suposedly theres a reaper rework in the works.
Raids are not the be all and end all, stop making changes to the classes just to balance the very top end PvE scene that 90% of the player base can’t even get close to.
Just because a few players in some no lyf guilds can achieve a billion DPS that doesn’t mean you have to nerf the class for everyone, including for SPVP and WvW players.
Most of the players can’t even get to half the DPS numbers in the online benchmarks, and yet you make changes just because someone posted a video of him getting a gazillion DPS on a golem on his 468th try.

How is that balancing around raids? In a raid you rarely get even close to the golem benchmark numbers as well. At best, it’s balancing around SFTA. And it’s stupid, I agree.

Mender’s Purity: This trait now casts Lesser Power Cleanse, which removes 1 condition from you and nearby allies. Fixed a bug that could cause this trait to put Mantra of Resolve on recharge. This trait now shows an effect to indicate its radius.

It was not used solely for the auto attack, that’s what people did in pve. In wvw guard staff actually had a purpose and was a real support weapon aside from the auto attack. Empower was great when traited with altruistic healing, orb of light for some healing, symbol of swiftness for light field/aoe damage/ and swiftness stacking, and line of warding for cc’s. The problem is the baffling nerf to the range, not the other changes.
They litterally buffed the reason you tell me here it was good and used for in wvw. And they toned down ots aa range while increasing the arc that it hits.
They made it a better support weapon. I cant see whats the issue here.

Lmao like rev healer doesnt need to build healer to get value from ventari dont make me laugh. Tempest can bring strong support through auras aoe in a radious healing (without any real aiming) and buffed up protection. Tempest is an excelent healer spec.
And it was rightfully nerfed because its terrible design to have an entire trait line be picked because of 2 overloads. Ill tell you a good joke my self : This game’s community.

Thats why giving mirage torment confusion is a bad call. It should have been a bleed soec with minor confusion torment through traits.

With dodge jumps you travel more distance because dodging is faster that walking.

There were strong indications that despite the frustration, you are trying (and succeeding, unless I miss my guess) to make lemonade out of the Arkk lemon. Were you to want advice, I’d suggest focusing on the tongue in cheek rather than the frustration. Regardless, if you do decide to move on, I hope you find other challenges and fun wherever you go. If you decide to stay, there is no problem with foregoing something you don’t enjoy in favor of doing the paths you do enjoy.

I have almost returned to normal state now, though I can only play games that fit my patience when it comes to wiping (Candy Crush, Super Mario Bros 1). Also on the positive note – I now know who will be my mental opponent on future boxing-classes.Arm is much better, ty so much for asking. @Gullig Man ill tell you what i did after the first day i tried it (wiped on arkk for like 3 hours) i decided ti leave the boss and w8 for ppl to learn the fight better. In the mean time i watched some kills on youtube and ask for advise from the ppl that aploaded them. A week or 2 after i went in and was better at it than even ppl who had the title.
Ty for the tip. I watched the Youtube-fights a few times before trying 100cm for the first time, but Arkk just kept on killing us anyway. For days. It´s them one shot abilities that I remember so well from my time in Wow. They will always kill pug-players, someone will always rage, a keyboard or two breaks on a regular basis. Everyone like me and their cats have a horrible time on those conditions. I´m very happy for you, and all the rest who got the title though! I hope this fractal is for you and that it gives you the same pleasure as Chaos, aka “DISCO FLOOR FOREVER!”, fractal gave me.
I wouldnt call ot the chaos fractal 2.0 as its not as cancerous as chaos is. And tbh f they fix the anomaly spawn the the disapearing floor is ok imo
I highly doubt anomaly plus floors is unintended. You need to focus anomaly faster. That’s what makes it fun. More RNG. Less scripted. Glorious. If you don’t like it play a lower level fractal, no?
The anomaly isnt rng it has a timer to spawn so you.kinda know when it will spawn. The dissapearing floor ia abit of a cluster kitten and it should somwhow be adressed.
