I think the patch notes are good, though, they show they listen to our concerns.
They mentioned the beards so we know they know it’s a real issue.

I believe Anet have put way too much resource into sPVP compare to WvW and other content of the game. What Anet needs to do is to stop luring PVE, WvW and other game mode players into sPVP.
Anet needs to remove all reward from sPVP, include all ascended, daily, gold…etc.
So that way sPVP is only for players who are here looking and enjoy small scale fights.
This but less extreme. Don’t rekove the rewards just make it so you get rewarded for getting better and being good. Not for just playing…
Lets throw all the changes they made the polls and the tweaks from rewards to games needed to stay top 250 out of the window. They never happened
I don’t want to just nerf pets, I want their stats to scale with the rangers. That way, for the pet to deal high damage the ranger has to spec for high damage. As it is though, since pets do make up such a large portion of rangers DPS, it doesn’t make a lot of sense for the ranger/druid to spec bunkery as hell and still have pets dealing top damage. Just kiting you until you don’t dodge an attack from their pet and take massive damage.
Its just weird to me, I don’t understand why that can happen.
Being able to have different stats from your pet is the entire point of pets having their own separate stats.
Honestly, people just can’t wrap their minds around “ranger pets are an actual threat I have to take into account”. Got too used to being able to completely ignore them, I imagine.
No, its not that I “can’t wrap my head around” that, its that its bogus balancing. No class should be able to wear bunker gear yet have the main source of its damage not be impeded in the slightest. Yet that is what happens with ranger pets.
And again, since you clearly ignored it, I would be in support of even buffing the damage that pets can do, as long as the pets stats scaled with the rangers, so the ranger couldn’t go full bunker and still have high hitting pets.
Buffing the other pets isn’t going to help rangers since the other pets can’t reliably hit moving targets.
If ranger pets did scale with ranger stats you better be prepared for smokescale to kitten you up. Right now its stats are nearly as tanky as the brown bear, with zerk stats and 25 might that thing will hit hard as hell.Again, base stats need to be lowered dramatically, and then scale with the rangers stats.
the pet would get a % of the ranger’s stats ofc…. that way a toughness ranger would have toughness heavy pets and a glass cannon one will have glassy pets try wrap you head around that for a sec
While I agree that condi chrono is overtuned, I’m curious as to what you think should be changed about it considering you didn’t list anything specific.
Bare minimum would be to revert the PvE change they made to confusion. Remove the passive tic so you only take damage if you activate a skill.
I agree that confusion should be changed, not because condi chrono is overperforming, but because its silly to use PvE condi rules when we have separate balance between the game modes.

It depends on the specifics. As already pointed out in this thread, thief ranged dps is pretty bad. For example if your joining a deimos group that uses safe strat (zerg stands in center, one person kites black stuff), thief would struggle.
But for say vg, thief is fine.
Never really understood that tactic just have the blob on boss and whenever the orange aoe for black pops up move the boss away from it. Also iirc the person kiting the black is the closest to the tank so thief as melee would still work i suppose while the rest melee.

No. Thief is fine, both condi and power are fine.
Maybe they ask you to change class because of personal preferences or ignorance, either way it’s their group so w/e.

Some people get some fixed ideas about what is needed to succeed in raids. Other players realize it’s more about understanding the mechanics and are more flexible.
Although, to be fair: leading a random group in raids is uniquely frustrating. I have sympathy for those looking to simplify their herding-of-cats and increase their likelihood of success, even if they sometimes misunderstand how best to go about it, e.g. like kicking profs that have competitive DPS.

Hmm, well.. Statistically I believe most players play Human characters. Most of my 9 characters are Human. One for each other race, except Sylvari where I have 2 though one is a revenant which I have abandoned. So thats 4 Humans, and would really like diffrent voices for them.
So, if Anet was to add extra voices for just the Human race, that would be alot less taxing.

As a raid condi necro i’d like to point out that there is a genius level solution to condi necro and his chill problem.
Let necro inflict chills on himself! Self-inflicted conditions are already a part of necro gameplay and that’s the deeper, more complex part, which raids should reward and bring to light.The benefits of such move are many and align perfectly with class design and balance. Here are but a few:
a) strong, controlled damage. Chill yourself (with deathly chill on), get chill + 3 bleed stacks. Transfer that, cause additional 3 stacks of bleed from chilling the enemy and end up with 2x the bleeds! No combo field issues, no need for enemies to cast it (to transfer it off allies or getting chilled yourself).
b) access to resistance. Looong overdue might i add! If you use well of power when chilled you get the boon which should’ve been there for necro in the first place!
c) balanced. It does allow some serious damage if used right (and more then one source of self chilling is given), but comes with adequate risks and opportunity costs.
Stacking bleeds on yourself this way can get pretty deadly without a fast transfer.
And said transfer needs to be available (what if you just used it for self-cleanse?) and hit it’s target! (blinds, interrputs, target evading etc).
Also if you use well of power then obviously you’re not getting sick damage from the chill-inflicted bleeds. Resistance or damage, you’re not getting both off this.That being said (and obvious genius!) i would hate to see reaper shroud #4 lose it’s whirl finisher or #5 it’s combo field. They are both very good and healthy tools for reaper, that allow for some plays in more ways then one.
It’s the uninspired, bland and extremely static deathshroud that needs a trip back to the drawing board!
that fact that thedmg comes from finishers is really cool tho :/ but id like self inficting and tranfering to be a thing there as well i believe they need to make it so using the shroud 4 will prioritise your chill field.
So you see the issue here?:D You can’t get perfect whirl finishers and Ice Bows in the same scenario without losing group damage.
That’s not the issue raised here though. If you have a necro should they pick up your ice bow, that’s the question. Get mad at them for not playing a better profession, sure, whatever. But, get mad at them for picking up your ice bow? Is it better if they do or not?
I mean, if you put it like that then yes it’s better if Necros take it.

Its a bug fix. There’s no good reason for a single mob to not have its channeled attack be interrupted if you break its defiance bar while its casting it.

Something to consider, this actually gives melee builds a counter play option for when he begins channeling. Fractals already heavily favor ranged damage builds. This was previously another example of that. If Ashym started channeling meteor shower on himself, melee builds had to just dodge out and wait. Now they can quickly break him, and stay in melee range (similar to break bar on final boss of chaos fractal).
Yeah but they didnt buff anything to balance out the huge nerf. That was the case before but you had to cc him the moment he started casting meteor shower. You had really tight cc windows which for groupds who could pull it off felt good and the nerf just makes him even easier.

@Thrag – Having different encounters be different difficulties is not at all close to a difficulty slider.
Kinda is, you do easier stuff and once you get used to them you move on to harder stuff.
But you can’t change the difficulty of any single encounter. If you want an easier VG experience, you can’t choose that, because its not a difficulty slider. Its just that not every encounter has the same difficulty
Yes but easier bosses work as entry to tactics and mechanis for raiding in general so if you do those first you get a better idea what the rest are about. Thats what they see as a slider its not an actual one but an actual one would require more work. This method works for alot of ppl and it is solid.
It would require to change how you deploy the glider. Other than that i would like it.

Nope. pve is anet’s main focus.
Thats a biased statement, yes wvw has recieved the least attention but you can’t say the same for pvp. Wether you like the changes or not you can’t deny each season they further update the gamemode and further try to polish it (not succesfully in cases) but they try they even added 2 new pvp maps and changed much or the existing ones. Pve in ot of it self varies from player to player other prefer 5 man other open world other raids and all had they respectable content droughts as well as all had their respectable updates. Same to an extend with wvw with various polls they did.
Collect money so they can hire people to play PvP and WvW for them? If they want opinions from other people they could read the forums or make a thread and ask the players directly, for free.
Not everyone on the forums knows whats best for the game and most ppl in pvp forums complain about how they cant beat certain classes just because they are that bad.
Just because you pay someone to play the game doesn’t mean they know what’s best. If they’re playing for a paycheck and not for fun then they might not enjoy playing and the things they dislike might be core parts of the game.
Didn’t say paying someone the play is better. I’d prefer a detailed survey which asks you of rank wvw or pvp ranks in a season or time played etc and then brings forth various suggestions for the game modes which then they can grade.

Of course, that being said, I get what I pay for, and per-money-spent, GW2 has tremendous value. Just so long as you don’t entirely overdo the time you spend on it (because then you run into issues with the lack of manpower available for continued development), it works fine for the money it asks of you.
Also for the sub cost i hear the raiding content they provide is superb. About the sub fee idk at times i feel it would make gw2 a thousant times better, but then again the lack of it is what drew me in. Oh and wvw (~hello darlness my old friend~ ;-;).
Then again ESO’s business model could work just as well but both are big steps few would agree with.
Not arguing but just want to point out that FF14 business model is changing their adopting the exact same thing WoW has done excluding the WoW token. FF 14 will be F2P up to level 35 I think without a time limit on the trial. Considering the fact players can change their classes on the fly they can just get every profession in the game to that cap which will take a good while. I haven’t played FF14 since before they launched the first expansion but their changing and adapting as they go.
Great to hear i hope Anet change and adapt their model for the game’s best interests.

I like your ideas sad that this post hasnt got the amount of attention it deserves. U got my thumps up.
Its like in raid. Basically when someone dies they go inside the box and they cant rejoin the fight.
Of course they need rebalanced just look at AB as a gleaming example also the biggest issue I see in this posts are that so many people have no idea what the difference is between balance and difficulty.
East- Glide over everything and bomb no armors even needed
North- Take any path you want across then set up a turret you don’t have to recross at all for the remainder
West- Shroom jump and glide over the right hand side bypassing mobs to release spores
South – Dead straight through the center of all the mobs pushing a bomb with lots of CC needed and the bomb will even get entangled from time to time with the most armors needed.The balance is so bad in AB that most of East is constantly afk just hitting the vine to get credit and waiting it out. While South has the biggest burden the longest mechanics and the final burn itself is even left to South to call. Each lane should be balanced to one another so that the entire thing isn’t so dependant on one land or another lane can be filled with lazy afk players each and every go.
The wide variances in difficulty in the same meta has been an issue since HoT launched by far DS is the most balanced of the bunch with its three lanes but the others were in dire need of an overhauls months ago. It’s not even about exploiting by design depending on were you are during a meta your either carrying that meta or coasting for some easy loot and the burden should be equal across.
The issue now though is after so long people barely do the other metas and AB is still done the most because the meta’s themselves aren’t balanced as AB is by far the fastest and easiest meta to do in HoT it doesn’t even compare to the others. With new maps these metas will eventually die the damage is already done too many TD meta’s were the entire map blames Nuhoch lane and toxicity has gotten out of control. You only get one map but so many people flood in Nuhoch these days because that’s the one that’ll fail it leaves the other lanes short while others stopped trying the meta all together.
And whats worse with a lane being easier than the others? That lane will get it low forst and then they will sent half their blob to help south.
New race is unlikely. It’s vastly more work than, say, a new profession.
is it though? Idk about you but having to make a new race from scratch with its own 2 elite spec new elite soec each expac and constand balancing look more to me than a 1 time thing which would be makimg new race.

The pros & cons of a new race have been argued to death. Google it.
If a new race is fully integrated:
“New voice actor” = tons of work (expense) to record every existing place a character is used plus going forward just that much more. Male + female, unless the birdmen are unisex and all sound the same (and the community would not accept that). Plus I would assume there would be a number of birdman NPCs needing voices, so add that to the mix.
“New animations” = similar, 2x for male + female (if unique). And sorry, I don’t view “new animations” as new content.
“Etc” = That’s the kicker. How many armor sets are out there? How slow is Anet about creating new ones? Add to that two more (male + female bird) and it takes even longer. Armor is just an example, but a major hurdle. The real issue is that everything they do now is slow, so you want to add to that burden by adding two new models to deal with? With the community already complaining of a lack of new content?
And as I stated originally, I don’t think the GW2 playerbase would be happy if they only got a few new armors to choose from and none of the existing. Same with the story.
True but a new race would come through a new expansion so the cost would be recovered from the copies sold and with a race such as tengu as a selling point alot of ppl will buy it.

While I would like to see new classes, I imagine we’ll only be seeing new elite specs for each, since we have a “balance” of 3-each weight class.
I personally would prefer they spend their efforts elsewhere rather than on a new race. The amount of work it would take to make one work hardly seems worth the cost. And if they excluded a new race from all existing things (armor, story) then it seems not worth the effort.
Why? You would have a new race new voiceactor new animations on skills etc thats a stupid amount of content on its own with value for years.
