Taimi’s the one source of fun this otherwise ruined world of crybabies and emo mesmers
cough cough canach cough cough
tbh i wouldnt mind the option to move my character around on that window and also zoom in and out on everywhere i want.
The problem with condi ranger isn’t the fact that they do good damage. The problem with condi ranger is that they do good damage with barely any effort. By putting in 50% of the effort that someone needs to in order to achieve the max dps (~30k), you end up doing ~22k in raids. Meanwhile an elementalist that only puts in 50% of the effort you end up pulling ~10k. Playing with condi rangers allows bad players to pad their DPS because you don’t actually have to be good with the class to pull good numbers.
Effort is subjective, i first time when played condi reaper had to put effort because when i killed the golem my dps was 10k bellow the standart. Once i got decent or rather good at it i could do it with no effort, if you come to play a class for a long period of time and it still requires effort from you, you might wonna consider rerolling.
Ppl who say Cranger is eazy are either ignorant or experienced players that come from harder classes like ele and engi who rightfully find the class easier.
And thats fine, its fine for easy classes to have high dps and for classes to have even higher but to require more mastery over said class to pull of said result. And hell there are some ppl here that justify the dmg cranger does because apparently, its hard to place some traps infront of the boss so when it move it procs them LUL.
idk man maybe lvl up until you unlock dungeons then do the solo paths in them and gring exp?
They actually fixed this problem to some degree in the expansion zones, where mobs have mechanics to them that the player is expected to counter.
Sadly most player’s response to this was to whine how “hard” it was.
Yet none of those enemies is truly challenging either. The only way you die is really when you get overwhelmed.
he stated that they are a step up not tht they are challenging
Ahah… wait serious? And how dungeon, raid, fractals, bank, market, guild, world boss event, maps, pvp, wvw, gem store, craft, store, reward, exp from enemies, enemies, animals, npc, events work? Or you really think all of this is compressed in yours 30GB gw2 download??
most of that stuff happen automatically on timers so as long as the game runs on a timer stuff like that would be possible to happen but then again a great deal of the game is ment to be played with others around but he might mean just the exploration aspect which isnt so hard to prob make into a offline experience
w8 isnt crangers main condi the bleeds?
Basically you can apply 9 stacks of burning after 5 seconds every 6.6 seconds (roughly), with a full viper set with nightmare runes you get 15k damage on that skill alone, which is a whooping 3k increase of dps by using it, and thus completely outshine every other condi build currently in the game, especially necros.
Ever heard of Meteor Shower? That single skill is such a huge dps increase on big hitboxes that some people insist on Ele vs big hitboxes.
The problem is that it doesn’t make sense for rangers to have such a powerful skill in a single weapon, there isn’t a single trait or gear piece that boosts burning damage, yet this skill could possibly be the main source of DPS for the build.
All in all it feels like a vestige from the days before condition damage was relevant.
Why it doesn’t make sense?
Oh and warriors have a trait that boosts burning damage? I can only find +33% duration. Thats done by a rangers gear. Rangers have a trait that explicitly boosts torch skills. This thread feels more like: Why can a ranger do good dps now?
Do you want the old days of the dungeons back when someone got kicked for just joining a group before he even could switch char? Atm all classes but rev have a more or less good damage build and you want to see the only good dps build of a ranger nerfed?
man i want them to buff ranger gs so bad the power gs build is so much fun
A condi reaper couldnt outdps anything even if he/she gave her left arm for it. On a diff aproach tho i believe the reason why condi ranger deals so high dmg is number 1 because of take root number two because they dony need to take any utilities like sun spirit etc since 2 druids on your group got that covered.
(edited by zealex.9410)
all in all a healing spec that gives you dmg modifiers while all the others dont is not healthy for the game
eeh idk i was mostly suggesting it for when the legendary armor comes out if they havent found a way to deal woth the sigils infusioms by then having this tool to take them all out would come in handy
If it take out sigils/runes then its not the same item as the OP described.
And since anet sell rune/sigil extractors in the gem shop I wont see them adding that in the forseeable future.
you are mistaken they try to find a way for youto be able to deal with the runes on the armor but in the case they havent found 1 to deal with infusions then the endless infusion extractor could do just that.
I dunno, I just buy a bunch and keep them in the bank, so I can move stuff around at will.
I mean, I’d buy one if available, but there’s an easy|cheap substitute already available.
same could be said for potions
just make the fractal omes change the same way the other infusions can broblem solved, as for the meta changes and fractal groups and raid ones going for an infusion set is purely your choice no one will ask you to have them
First old specs are not elite specs (elite specs are stronger specs whoch augment your playstyle and role therefore are more impactful and strong than the core specs).
That’s not how they were described by devs when they were introduced. According to the original info they are a branching out, not an upgrade. Both options are supposed to be equally strong and useful.
Of course it didn’t end up like that, but that’s not because of official design. It’s either a result of Anet’s inability to balance things (coupled with the desire to not make the new specs subpar), or a result of Anet wanting to persuade players to buy the expac.
Whichever option is true, it’s likely going to remain equally true with the next expac.
that does not mean the next elite specs need to be stromger than the current ones.
Who said hero points need to be challenging?
Anet, because beep boop they’re worth 10 points now
…the fact that they’re only worth 10 points to devalue the ones from the core game that players already had is completely coincidental, of course.
apparently a big part of the game didnt have the core tyria omes if we look at how they cried about the hp points for the e specs on release
ilI like how the op says they are not challenging and then procceds to say you join a group to do them.
First old specs are not elite specs (elite specs are stronger specs whoch augment your playstyle and role therefore are more impactful and strong than the core specs). Also rev is a nono without herald coz of his development, u see the other classes where maid from scratch with no elite specs in mind so elite specs are just there to amplify existing traits of theirs while with rev the class was made while with herald in mind so the elite specs complements the other specs makimg it mandatory.
Legendaries (save maybe twilight and underwater ones) are attrocious top to bottom. Some cheesy festive light fest that has little to do with taste or building awesome looks.
I’m still waiting for serious legendaries, not some ships on rifle barrel or pistols that seem slightly less a joke then quip. No, wait scratch that.
“Waiting” implies i trust them to do it. No, i don’t.Here’s a list of legendaries I’d like to see done:
1. Graveyard/otherworld themed greatsword, with shadowy effects, and possible blade animations (think legendary armor and it’s moving pieces instead of bling-bling circus).
2. Staff with multiple selectable skins themed off each profession. Ele has 4 elements. So that’s 4 skins right there. Only if case of lighthing i dont’ wanna see Bolt/mjollnir cheap lighthing, but more of a metallic rod (with mercury like gloss) which has lightning running across it.
Other then Ele elements it could feature skin of extremely verdant branch (ranger/druid theme), A metal rod with multiple small valves and gizmos on it (engi theme), a compactable battle staff (daredevil), a greenish/black necro themed one, the disgustingly pink mesmer one, crystal/holy/water themed guardian one, and mist themed one for the revenant.
Kinda like elementalist Lux idea in League of Legends.
That sorta thing. Less bling-bling more animated, moving pieces in ’em. And something serious, pleeeease?!
Somebody’s garbage could be someone else’s treasure and vice versa.
As stated above generation 2 isn’t even done yet
Announcing the next expansion without completing the second generation legendaries would be like giving every troll, naysayer, reviewer, and clickbait article a knife and a fork to tear into the game. Perception matters and its too soon to be discussing an third gen legends or even an expansion.
But if if I was going to discuss 3rd gen legionaries I’d say they should be plain mundane looking weapons. No visual effects such as football and all of them one singular set of weapons like the sets you see in exchange for blk lion tickets. The only ability would be changeable stats akin to a legendary.
The reason for this is because in Gw1 with Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall, and I think EotN you were rewarded a legendary weapon for completing the game. In core Gw2 we were awarded a choice of a pact weapon however in HoT we were awarded a pat on the head and told to get lost. So I’d like a return to the GW1 still of a basic legendary awarded for beating the big bad at the end of the story arc.
cough cough caladbolg cough cough
Maybe if it was a full setshipped off with the HoT content
Calabolg is part of the Current Event reward system an not a reward for killing Mordremoth. Launching post LS3 events it has its own seperate quest line and its own requirements. Not to mention the fact its a choice of less than half the available weapon types. All the weapon sets I mentioned were rewards for killing the big bad.
Heck there are some very nice current event rewards including the Destroyer Scythe and other things. Calabolg is akin to those other current event rewards. I mentioned the destroyer scythe because you get one primordious weapon for completing the chain then collect them all to get the scythe. You also get one calabolg weapon for completing the chain then collecting them all unlocks the Origins skin.
If anything a Calabolg set would have made so much more sense as a victory weapon set for Zhaitian because the sword plays a role in regards to Zhatians story not Mordremoths. You even go to Orr not HoT to get the weapon.
you get the caladbolg only if you defeated mordremoth with a reward for killing him
I want a poleaxe/halberd.
banner guard with halberd ^0^
In all reality, no matter what people try to justify here on the forums, the issues that existed 10 months ago still exist today – probably to an even greater degree with most LFG groups expecting people to understand everything prior to joining.
Non meta groups are rare – and often strongly discouraged by the raiding community. Meters have given pugmanders a new way to justify kicking people. LI requirements are still a thing , but have been supplanted by minature or title requirements by many groups.
So, again, if you had issues with the raiding scene 10 months ago, I seriously doubt you will find it engaging and less frustrating today.
if it wasnt for the dps metter the only dps pugs would take would be eles so ye… and also li requirements are fine every mmo has requirements for raiding i dont see why its bad with gw2 esp since gear is a non factor and skill is what matters
you missunderstood point 3 and on point 2 it will take away the uniqueness of the class which is the main argument against giving gotl to other specs nerfing it is simply better
Are we really having this argument after Revs got alacrity and nothing changed ?
Are we really going to sit here and say, We need to up the baseline power of classes when not 3 months ago the word of the day for these forums was Power Creep ? Seriously, damage reduction in its current form is fine even if more classes get access to it.
im just tellimg you what arguement druid mains use for gotl to not change to be given to other classes. Im a mesmer main and i can kinda get the feeling tho. Nothimg changed with alacrity because the way they added it to the class was kitten, instead of aplying alacrity on all healing from the tablet they made the stupid choice to implement it the way they did.
eeh idk i was mostly suggesting it for when the legendary armor comes out if they havent found a way to deal woth the sigils infusioms by then having this tool to take them all out would come in handy
Of course, if they ever did solve the runes issue, the legendary armor would start giving out a much bigger advantage. Which would mean that an alternate acquisition method would be even more needed.
Why though?
If legendary armor has a function that ascended armor does not have, then it’s only the reward for the effort you put it.Legendary Armors will soon™ be upon us, but it will suffer from the same predicament the weapons and backpacks suffer from. Free stat choice, but complete denial for high end content like raids.
Or perhaps part of the reason for the delay is ANet is working on changes to the underlying mechanics to prevent the predicament.
did I miss a memo somewhere? you sound like something’s already in motion
What? How does “perhaps” translate into “already in motion?”
A bit of an over reaction, don’t you think? I said you sounded like you knew something more than I did, so I asked if there was something I missed. if I didn’t, then it’s all chill as an egg, isn’t it?
Sigil and rune swap are meaningless if you can’t also swap Stat infusions. I suggest you stop thinking of legendaries as the replacement for all your other gear and just look at them as cosmetics with upside when a particular Stat set is no longer meta.
For mini/maxers yes for everyone else no.
then everyone else wont bother about runes sigils too
I dunno, there seems to be a huge difference in value between:
+4 power
and
+10/250 power every kill (not that this specific rune is useful in raids, but you get my drift)
its 5 power per infusion and 90 i think for the whole thing so its like walkimg around with 3 might stacks by default
axe on mesmer because it doesnt fit with their thematic
yes i believe adding 1 endless infusion extractor as a long term goal item in fractals would be really neat esp for ppl that have alot of asc sets and weapons and they move around infusions.

you can take out infusions for a really small price tho.

You’re playing the wrong race. At least Norn female shout retreat with calm authority. That said I wouldn’t mind it beign changed to “Take Cover!” as the aegis blocks an attack.
but why? if aegis gives you the window to block an aoe or attack then doesnt that counters the “take cover” it makes more sense to name it something like “stand strong” or something like that.
First bit of advice. Never be a one-trick when it comes to raiding, especially in a pug setting.
Regarding Thief vs Ele…. Thief can compete with them as far as dps goes. It just lacks the same utility.
As far as picking up mesmer to tank, see first point. Even if Thief is your 2nd assuming you decided to walk the tank road, get a backup ready because mesmer is limited slotwise in raids.
I wasn’t, I was mostly raiding on my 2h warrior dude (some support guy who was stacking some 25 thing damage buff?) but I wanted to raid on thief and literally nobody wanted me. For me the problem isn’t that I can’t get in raids, it is that I can’t get in raids with classes I want to. So I guess it’s still the same? Ele kittens on all other DPS?
no they dont eles are still really strong on big hitbox but their power diff is much smaller ppl now mostly ask for dps without specifying what that dps is so most classes are welcome (well unless you plan on raiding with rev)
Frostfang all the way man. The effects are more visible also.
Frostfang all the way man. The effects are barely visible tho. There fixed it for ya ^^
idk tbh its based on your own preferences but tbh for me i find timekeeper sword/ infinite light and astralaria supperior. Astralaria is better in terms of effects while frostfang has the supperior detail in design again my preference is astralaria coz of my wierd taste on swords.
I really find it odd that Warrior is the only class that has no limitation on might-stacking aside from critical hit, and how they generate might to begin with.
I suggest the future approach to profession balance and elite specializations would involve the following:
1. Homogeny amongst similar effects/traits: Phalanx Strength, Shared Empowerment, Empowering Might.
2. Change Grace of the Land to grant Might Stacks, perhaps 3. A similar ability: HGH for engineers, should produce similar results.
3. Reduction/removal of %Damage traits. Increase the baseline power of various profession skills to compensate. Then consider scaling of various abilities.
4. For Elite Specializations: have them supplement or expand upon roles various professions don’t normally cover or have trouble covering. They should be designed with niche roles in mind. Scrapper is somewhat a great example of this: Great in WvW/sPvP, not as strong in Raiding/PvE
1) Only if there’s no limit like with PS currently
2) How about we don’t. Instead why dont we just rename it and put a max cap on bonus damage modifiers to 10 and then give it to other classes.
3) Again how about no. There’s no point in changing Damage Reduction as its all multiplicative anyway and you’ll never hit 100% (barring that one bug that was fixed).
4) Scrapper is a bad example to use. Engineer already had a tanking spec that was fleshed out. That’s why Scrapper has had to be changed and have it gutted for PvP and PvE. It’s literally the worst example you could have pulled.
you missunderstood point 3 and on point 2 it will take away the uniqueness of the class which is the main argument against giving gotl to other specs nerfing it is simply better
ar infusions you can serach on youtube for deroir’s guide on infusions as for a long term goal the infinite mist potions is where its at since the buffs they give are superb and really make t4s faceroll
no and i dont think wp wpuld make any vid its just that mo is sure about the armor.meaning the hardest part is over for them which i’d quess is the rune sigil swap system
tbh i think they might have already found what they wonna do with sigils by now your suggestion is ok tho
Back to the story i have really enjoyed each episode separetely so far and less while looking it as a continuous story, but i feel its only fair to give credit where credit is due and ill start with the last part of the head of the snake.
Oh boy did i love it, not only my character got to go back to familiar places but he also remembered it which is a huge plus for me it created this feeling of connection that i didnt have before with my character and i believe thats a big step up from previous stories.
Also, i feel like i should take some time to talk about the cutscenes a little. I believe the up in quality is there as we all can see better facial animations ( i could argue even better than mass effect andromeda). The tone is kept serious when it needs to be whitough losing that feeling for its entirety due to bad animations that break immersion or anything else.
The addition of books is also really nice having the ability to immerse my self deeply at my own pace in the story with extra bits of lore is more than i could ask. But, it falls flat at times because of a lack of some way to store these book and have them available at anytime i wish to. I believe a library feature would go along way giving to the fans a system for storing and reading books that they have asked for so long.
Overall the story is ok absolutely a step up in story telling but its weakened by the poor connectivity the episodes have. It doesnt really help that once the story from one map is done we have never a reason to back to that map. (story wise)
Closing i will do a small Tl;dr for this season. For what pros in my opinion the story brings it loses value to the fact that the new maps are basically timegated small blocks with dailies. I would any day of the week take less maps (2 if the episodes are 6 and 3 if the episodes are 8 ) that are well thought out with more engaging events (dare i say some soft metas like in drytop silverwastes) and more longterm goals for ppl to get into ( like luminecent armor or the incect weapons or idk let your imagination run wild).
While i feel in terms of story we deff get quality over quantity i will be honest and say in terms of maps and everything that they include we get the worst of both worlds (dont get me wrong the environments are fantastic but enviroments alone aint gonna make me visit them more often (mean while silverwastes and drytop are still played by a number of ppl to this day). At times it feel like the new maps have less expolarion to do than the the home instance ( meaning you get to see everything easily the first time)
EDIT: I forgot to add a con i find to the new lw its the fact hat the outside world feel too little connected with the current plot. In lw2 you ahd the player running around the whole place doing stuff and seeing the effects of the current story (at that time) on the rest of the world and that largly isn’t there with the new season. And FOR THE LOVE OF GOD leave some water behind dont take it all away ;-;
Also rip at keeping it short ;-;
(edited by zealex.9410)
Story I believe the way the story in lw3is told is the closest it has been to an actual tv show, more specifically to the average american comedies (like how i met your mother and 2 and a half men). What do i mean by that? Well first things first looking at each episode from the prospective of it being a standalone moment in the story they are great, the pace is just about right and the writing look overall really good (imho you raised thee bar from hot and that great).
You could make some more out there and “epic” fights like the 2 fights with the shadow of the tree i believe was the name of the dragon leutenant of modremoth, or the visions of past like aproach from ep 7 and 8 i believe those were done pretty excellently.
Looking at it from the prespective of a season full of event connected they hardly feel like that. The seasons so far feel like we just roam around the map picking up wha request we have going about doing our some business clearing out various problems that occur. And the fact that this is basically what is happening with the maps doesnt help. (i would far more prefer less maps per season even 2 maps if the season is 6 episodes as ppl speculate or 3 if its 8 that are well thought out and created with the polish we have seen from the story so far)
Some ppl have cme to also dislike the fact that the sory missions at times force you to
complete the hearts and i somewhat agree that thats abit too forced but i also believe
that having the active world be part of the story makes it that much more alive and
engaging.
The characters so far have been ok, they have created discussion in the community
and i believe thats what you want characters and ppl will talk about for the entirety of
the season, but theres a few moments where i feel even the characters are forced to do
certain things for plot’s sake.
I will use braham as an example, even tho im of the opinion his reaction is justified and
he is right for feeling how he feels is understandable i feel that the writing takes it to far
to have him basically go into the wolfs mouth so the more reason for deus ex taimi’s
experiement to have all the more importance.
Character like marjory feel justified and there fore i believe the route you have her
taking feels well thought out and exciting. I could do with less passiveness from
characters like Rox which is just there because shes following Braham. Kasmeer.. (finish
the god kitten gemstore outfit i wonna see her finaly)
Lazarus is really interesting its been a while since i havent encountered a character in a
game that has kept me wondering whats his motives ( and spoilers who he might be)
kudos lw team ^^
Queen Jennah (so cool omg!!!)it feels good to see the queen act more like herself in the
books (at least i hear everyone saying she is which is good). I am glad we get to see
Logan finaly making a comeback and finaly move on and out of the friendzone (alo
really hyped for what his “change” might lead to) im also looking forward to zojja.
I would talk about Rytlock but.. “later cub”. ^^
Cannach has been the star of the show so far like you guys have really outdone
yourselves with his writing and i really hope we will get to see him in the expac or later
down the season (i’v missed using my footkey).
Taimi ohhh Taimi makes me wonder why am i even there in the first place it looks like
the little kid has pretty much everything under control making me feel abit useless to
the point where i feel if i went for drink to southsun there would be no problem
whatsoever as long Taimi is there. (idk if you made her so ppl will partialy hate her you
did it -.-* ).
Continues bellow… again…
Hello this is gonna be my personal critique about the current season of living world season 3, I will try to keep it short since my time is limited atm but i believe i should share my opinion.
I will devide the critique into section to be easily readable (the format, the maps and the story/characters) and i will also make conections to lw2 since it was the lw i got to experience only, prior to season 3.
The Format: So far the steady release of content has been good for the game. The sense of stability and the feeeling of you of having to look forward to something is a nice change from the content drought back after the expac released but, i feel it also brought alot of bad stuff along with it.
The amount of content that each episode bring to the game imho isnt cutting it, i can
understand a new map every 3 months sound cool and all but in practice that leads to
some poor resuts which leads me to my next section.
I will treat updates as fractals and other qol changes as part of the whole patch and say
these have been amazing an i cant say how gratedul i am ^^
The Maps You see, the maps so far have proven to hold little interest to the big part of the player base as there is not really that many interesting things to do other than resource farming for asc stats which in it of it self isnt all that excting.
The event chains on some of the maps feel uninspired and dull and they fail to engage
the player and immerse them to the situation (of the map).
The profit someone can make from these maps is also not all that exciting where it
would create interested for long term farming from players (welp bloodstone fen had
from what i understand nice rewards for the events but anet nerfed them).
Visually and mechanically the maps are stunning from the fantastic utilisation of the
gliding mastery in Bloodstone Fen and the menacing volcanos on Ember Bay to the
atmospheric forest of Bitterfrost Frontier and the feeling of an ongoing battlefield that
Lake (lul) Doric and i cant w8 for what the next destination looks like.
The Achievements Some of them feel very interesting and well tought out while
others not so much, my grudge is against the choice of not adding long term
achievement that bring the players back to the maps.
As examples i’ll use the lw2 maps Drytop and Silverwastes both these maps had
achievements design for the player to spend quite abit of time there with the unique
skin colections as well as the rare mob titles silverwastes had.
There one more thing that the lw3 map missed the mark on but i feel going into more
detail about it the story section is better.

(edited by zealex.9410)
idk maybe rename “retreat” to “SKIP” or “OMG TEEF WHY NO STEALTH”? i mean, no one uses it to run away but rather to skip stuff
I wouldn’t hold your breath, gen 2 is barely at the halfway mark.
And that’s a bit generous, since there are only 7 second generation legends out of 16 that HoT is supposed to include.
They’ll have to accelerate the process somehow.
- Three were available with HoT’s release: Nevermore, HOPE, Astralaria
- Chuka & Champwat became avail in April 2016
- Eureka (the first without a collection) was added in September 2016
- Shooshadoo in November 2016
- HMS Divinity joined in February 2017
So that’s a total of 4 added in 18 months, less than one every 4 months. It’s not clear that we’ll see 9 more added within the next 18 months and yet ANet has also said they want to release expacs more quickly than they did the first one.
Yes but since they changed the collection process, they’ve added 3 in 5 months. The next should be arriving sometime in May according to Anet, though it will likely be legendary armour (sigh).
diff teams diff products we will most likely get both a weapon and the armor
As stated above generation 2 isn’t even done yet
Announcing the next expansion without completing the second generation legendaries would be like giving every troll, naysayer, reviewer, and clickbait article a knife and a fork to tear into the game. Perception matters and its too soon to be discussing an third gen legends or even an expansion.

So I’d like a return to the GW1 still of a basic legendary awarded for beating the big bad at the end of the story arc.
cough cough caladbolg cough cough
if condi warrior bested you you must’ve played really bad or had some strange buff disposition
heh?
I hope this update has some WvW Love.. that game mode is barely holding on.
lol. It’s not holding on at all, it has fallen over a year ago along with the GvG guilds disbanding. Almost everyone I played with left.
why would a LS patch have a WvW update? those are regulated by different teams
why would a lw patch have a fractal or raid update?
because those teams work together, and like to launch things in bundles, pvp and wvw have their own team and schedules
they are all seperate teams
I game on a 4K TV from my couch. I recently came back to GW2 after a long time away, thinking about buying the HOT expansion. I logged in on a fresh install, and was getting a silky smooth 80+ FPS in 4K, but couldn’t read the UI even on the largest setting. Scaling down to 1080P looked hideous. Then I realized, instead of getting to enjoy some of the content that had been added since I was away, I had to actually BUY season 2 in addition to HOT. …I’m now uninstalling the game, and I am convincing my play group to take a closer look at a few other MMOs. Anet might think it doesn’t matter, but this is one more anecdote on the impact of a a tiny UI at 4K (along with some of their less than intelligent marketing practices, I guess). 3 HOT sales lost/pending now in the ether.
i mean, why would hot include lw2?
i mean yes pls make them happen i really love that hammer
isnt rude to ask grills of their /age?
Or remove the ICD on crit might stack from guards… either way really.
Sure, I guess I just think Revenant needs the love a lot more than Guardians right now.
Except that stupid trait for Guardian has existed since this game has come out and it triggers me every time I see it. Originally when I saw that trait I thought of making a build using sword (auto hits more than other autos and #3 hits 8 times very quickly) and that trait before I know about the cooldown. It would have provided might to the group as well as a lot of blinds to keep people alive. Then I find out about the cooldown and that build went down the drain. For the buffing support class, Guardian doesn’t do a whole lot of buffing or support.
guard has buffing just not in the way you are looking for
New might stacker only addresses PS. We’d still have Druid and Chrono as mandatory slots in both subgroups.
I think eventually people are going to have to move away from the whole “designated buffer” mentality that they currently have before we can progress forward much more from here. And ANet is moving towards that way in my opinion.
Take Ventari Rev getting alacrity, its a step in the right direction. No, it does not replace Chrono. However, it could substitute as a source of alacrity if no chronos were available (with a few tweaks to still allow it to deal reasonable damage, at least at the chrono tanks level). Similarly, if the next elite specs bring out someone that can provide a reasonable uptime on quickness, not 100% though, while still providing other utility (whether damage or something else), then both ventari Rev and this new spec could together replace the group utility that a chrono would provide. With good design, the two of them together on the group would also provide more overall utiltiy than a chrono does, so effectively you could take chrono for a single slot to provide both alacrity and quickness, or you could use 2 slots to get almost the same amount of quickness and alacrity uptime (but not 100%) but with more other utility (again, whether its damage, healing, or something else).
they could do away with having a class giving 100% quickness and have higher personal dmg i dont get why you are against the idea of anoter class doing quickness as good as chrono
