I really don’t know how polite it is to turn old religious icons into fiction while we keep our current religious icons taboo. Whole thing seems a little silly to me.

Absolutely, but would naming your character Jesus be ok? What about Allah? Muhammad? Vishnu? Jehovah? Satan? At what point are these type of figures ok and what point are they bad? What makes Thor/Odin ok but probably not some of the others? Just that no one has a fit?

At the point that society generally considers those first few names religious and sacrosanct, while the last two are mythological. Even if Jesus and Mohammad are still current names.

why have a profanity filter at all if not to simply see words as they are said/spoken. from what i am seeing is context of threat or implyed threat is the real issue telling some one to F off is difernt then telling some one there going to hunt them down and F in kill them or simply wish ill upon a person with implyed threats. I takes a choice to turn off the profanity filter its like a consent button to choose to see swearing and words that may offend people. simply put if i got band for swearing i would just go to small claims court and win it happens a lot more then you think.

I have my filter turned off because I’m an adult and don’t need to be censored. I can put up with a few swear words drift through chat but I don’t want to see a constant stream of foulmouthed rubbish. I hardly ever see that anyway. Someone like you would just be blocked by me.

More than slight I’d say. I was able to do a 10 person maw the other day and you could see how its supposed to pan out, and how it was quite often done on my server before megaservers. It was actually fun.

As an actual new player I feel exactly the opposite. I am loving the game and thought the new player experience has generally been good and positive.

I think usually for a new player the system doesn’t seem that bad.

Because new players have barely any idea what traits are, or how useful/important they are to the build of their classes.

How can you miss it if you don’t even know what you are missing?

Or its like some of the defenders (though it may only be the same two people posting a loit in this thread) also make it pretty clear “you only need a few traits unlocked anyway” which means they are just copying a meta build off the net somewhere.

Like I said, new players just can’t miss what they don’t even know about. But I bet there would be a LOT of love if anet suddenly reverted the changes and the new players suddenly had access to the trait system in its entirety for the first time.

Trait issues are separate from the NPE, which is probably why there are only a few defenders of traits in this thread. There’s a whole traits thread for the traits issue. It’s a whole different update.

I’d feel better about the changes if they actually took the time to redesign them a little to be interesting or challenging. It didn’t have to be much, but a little care would have been appreciated. Take for instance the bear cubs you feed for Bear. The bundles are out (sad) and I understand why they did that, but at least a few of the traps you now release could have a skelk of something in them. The heart in Queensdale has traps you open and sometimes they don’t have anything, sometimes you fight a drake. That’s been in since launch and was designed that way. When comparing it to the Bear heart, the effort just seems half-hearted and not as professional.

Oh yeah, yeah. That underwater path has a few events too. They never seemed to be up when I passed by though, and I eventually skipped that area in subsequent completions. With underwater combat gated now, is that even doable if you enter from the low level side? You’d be in the first 5 or so levels and it’s gated at maybe 7?

The mobs are all yellow now, even the vet, so it doesn’t matter. With megaservers I haven’t had much chance to get them done recently either. Shame, since I like listening to Lunt taunt the dredge.

So are you starting Wayfarer from Diessa or Snowden? Because if you’re starting from Hoelbrak, or if you want to access the southern part of Wayfarer at all you have to go on the roadway that passes by the bunny heart. It’s the only path between north and south wayfarer.

Straight out of Hoelbrak. Near the Bear heart there is a mountain pass that comes out exactly where the bunny heart used to be. And that’s the one I’ve always used. From the old bunny heart, I cross the bridge above the path you are talking about – the one Linea uses to follow the jackelope. I only discovered the road you are talking about after passing through Wayfarer a couple of times.

I always used that pass on lowbies to get through to the north, and the underwater channel as well, since they led to small event chains if you were lucky. I greatly dislike Bjarni being moved off the mountain, and liked being ambushed by Sons if I ever went the other way. I had to take a couple of months off because of the changes to Wayfarer.

I’ve popped into ESO from time to time. I don’t mind it but I vastly prefer GW2.

I don’t actually consider it a good game (and usually keep that to myself) but for lore purposes, HoM points if you want those skins, and the stories the GW1 games tell are probably worth it.

I sometimes stop and think back to all I’ve done i the game but I’m never going to feel like I’ve “won” at this game, probably. I only just tried new Teq last week, and I’m still at fractal level 1. I am at the point where I don’t feel like rolling anymore characters on my main account but I don’t have all my guys at 80 yet and that’s going to be a while.

I have to say that for the people that derive a huge amount of enjoyment from the game by collecting ALL of the mini-pets, I feel very badly for you.

The huge variety of things you have to do to keep up with this, from winning competitively in sPvP to jumping puzzles to tough boss fights and achievements to playing the RNG in the store, min-pet collectors have it rough. You have my respect and my sympathy. lol

The fact that you hardly see them whining about it gets my respect.

I’ve heard that 5e was pretty good…

But the great part is, you don’t have to play anything other than 2e if you don’t want to :P

5e is decent so far. But they leave a lot of stuff vague (like trying to find out that now if you have resistance, its just a flat half dmg, but damage reduction to something still exists and give a number…). They also limit stats and amount of feats you get, which prevents becoming OP.

I didn’t even know they were up to 5th Ed. 1st is still my game (though nobody to play it with lol). Just spend five minutes rolling a character and then go out and adventure. Which is exactly how I play GW2, now I think about it.

I use notes on my iPad for my char’s builds.

I think that’s as close to a mobile app as it gets right now.

I go old school and use pen and paper. I can’t always read my own writing, though, so maybe I’ll start going new school.

I do map completes for fun and levelling. Just about all of my characters have been levelled mostly through the open world.

So many of us have hated the new trait system. It’s worse than the original in so many ways, such as making it harder for those with a lot of alts to keep up. While I like the idea of giving players an option to get traits through gameplay, it seemed like a lot of their choices for activites and the order in which they placed them were anywhere from odd to downright painful. Plus, the increased costs were really unnecessary.

If the organization of the gameplay options were more intuitive and more accessible to most players, or we had broader categories for completing each one, it might have worked. However, as it stands, it needs redoing and so it’s good news that they’re going to do just that.

Of course, HOW they redo it remains to be seen and whether it makes everything worse or better.

I was doing a heart quest at the portal to Rhand at Diessa. The heart was dead most of the time and you need to wait for event to spawn AND get lucky to kill enough mobs fast enough before other players. The quest has no alternative.

This is the one I was thinking of as well. They just need to put in one thing that players can do between Flame Legion appearances and it would be a lot better.

There are flame legion on the lower level that you can still attack.

I last tried to complete this last night and there were no flame legion anywhere within the heart zone.

I’ve completed the heart at least three times without the event active and it took less than 5 minutes. Much less time than it took to do the stealth one in Blazeridge.

Good for you. If you can share how exactly to do it without interacting with a single thing then please do.

Of course I’m sure! I’ve done the heart maybe 20 times over the last two years and never had a problem, events up or not. Until last night. Unless that screen shot was taken at the time I was in the area, on the same map instance as mine, then it’s meaningless to my recent experience.

Is that’s what is wrong with it? I tried to do this a couple of weeks ago and thought it was broken. kitten .

It has another problem. Tried doing it lately on my lvl 80 ele. For the capture skill to work you need to bring the mobs below 50% hp first, but most of the time i ended up oneshotting them with the rifle’s weakest attack. In the end had to remove accesories to reduce the damage.

Thanks for the warning. I think I need this one for the character I’m doing world completion on so he’d do the same thing.
