First let me just say I’m overwhelmed by all the awesome responses in this thread. Reminds me of what an amicable community GW2 really can be, which is rare and amazing in the grand scheme of multiplayer games.

Just wanted to say thank you all for taking the time to comment, especially those who wrote suggestions. (And to the few exceptions, we all know getting the name you want is no picnic, so don’t even try to pin it all on me.)

I did manage to come up with some fairly awesome names, though. And even though the hours upon HOURS staring at the character creation screen trying to think of a kitten name is frustrating to the max, the scarcity of high quality names definitely makes you feel like you’ve got something really special when you find one that isn’t taken.

Anyway, just wanted to say I appreciate it guys. Oh and sorry it took me so long to write back. I don’t really frequent the forums that often and I got caught up with some IRL stuffs along the way.

My latest warrior to 80 in his travelling gear. Just hit 80 tonight and he’s carrying around his 2nd year birthday present, plus the swords were Explorers that had been sitting in my vault waiting for him to grow up. I don’t think Norn ever do.

Just basic stuff: Adventurer mask, chainmail boots and gloves, barbaric coat, militia shoulder and Braham’s legs. Looks alright I reckon.

I don’t think TC is an “official” RP server, and with megaservers I doubt they would add any more. They could always try and tweak the megaserver system somehow to accommodate RPers more easily but unfortunately RP isn’t high up the list.

Because to be honest, they have nothing to apologize for. There is an grandiose line between making our characters pretend to be planes like little children with an old timey movie look, and a plane crash. Yes it is sad as to what happened sure, that does not mean we can’t move on considering this was a local incident and probably nearly no one in the game is personally affected by this.

I’ve thought we should have this fairly often (especially today) but then there’s the danger of it being abused just because of heated disagreements. It would cheapen the function. And there are a few posters that attract controversy even if they come on to say Hello. People would down vote them without paying attention to what they have to say.

People had empathy for those that had died in that event. I still remember the video of the young couple searching the beach afterwards for their child, trying to find him or his body, and the people frantically trying to find lost friends and relatives. But life goes on. Tragedies happen. People showed sympathy by donating money and items, but they still lived their lives.

It would be more reasonable to ask if ANet had made a donation rather than saying they should stop an ingame event completely unrelated to the plane crash.

I’ve been thinking about this today. I saw Team America just a few days after the tsunami and when the scene with bodies floating along in the water came up I, and the rest of the cinema for that matter, was pretty quiet for a little while and then got back into it. There was a moment of reflection where it mattered and then life went on.

With close to a hundred rants about this april fool airplane mode and 98% of them negative, I think you should reconsider this prank. Do a hotfix and either remove it or allow players to turn it off. If you don’t you’ll probably see a marked decrease in your customer base tomorrow.

I’m fairly sure that this content was being worked on well before that terrible event happened anyway. And I don’t think it’s tasteless. What I do think is that all these topics that are taking up pretty much an entire full page should all be merged into two topics:

One for “I love this April Fool’s Joke!”
One for “I hate this April Fool’s Joke!”

I’d imagine some of it will just get canned. They can do whatever they want to the threads as long as they leave the screen shot thread alone.

I love the filter also. I had a possible glitch where the sepia disappeared after a Toxic effect in Kessex Hills and everything looked more like a colourised black and white movie. I’d like that also, looked nice.

If you aren’t interested in WvW then it makes no difference what server you choose. If you think you’ll be doing a lot of that then you’re out of luck it seems.

And your friends should really have warned you if their server was full.
