To the many servers who have graced T1: HoD, ET, SBI, SoS, BG, SoR, IoJ and yes, JQ, it’s been amazing.

What everyone is forgetting, is that the ratings will adjust basted on the relative ratings of each opponent just like it does now.

So lets take an example here. SOR vs TC vs Mag One server from each Tier.

Projected ratings for next week are:

SOR 2214
TC 2000
Mag 1830

The ratings are so far apart that SOR would have to CRUSH I mean destroy both servers by 150k+ rating for SOR not to lose rating. This gives Mag and TC a chance to gain rating if they push hard, because they will gain and SOR drop if they put up any sizeable resistance.

Then, when that week is over, the new ratings will be used to calculate the next week (plus the random generator).

What this means, is the underdogs of each matchup have a huge handicap where rating is concerned. They don’t have to beat the higher rating server, they just have to put up a fight, and the ratings will adjust.

Which server folds after the first weekend? Which servers fight tenaciously every day despite being outmanned? Those servers who keep matches as close as possible will find themselves shooting up the ladder. The higher rating servers that grow too complacent in their 50k leads will find themselves losing rating.

All in all, I think its a GREAT idea, and WvW would be MUCH better off it was done six months ago, however, better late than never.

Now we just need a way in game, so the WvW noob/pug can see that fighting against overwhelming odds helps their server gain rating, even if they may be losing by 100k points. Like an MOS rank projector built into the WvW interface.

Last time TC fought SOR we beat them by 300k…… a much much much much much weaker version of what SOR is now. Think about that.

Sure but how would TC go against JQ? TC has also become stronger since you have moved into T1 (ages ago now).

Hopefully we’ll get to find out. I’ve personally wanted to play TC for a while.

Going to guess this will start next Friday (31/May) but we don’t really have confirmation. Can someone from anet chime in?

This looks interesting. I’m excited for the thought of new opponents, and people moving around the tiers every week.

Congratulations to SoR for their win last week, and this week. SoR has worked hard since they arrived in T1. They were a little over their heads at the start it seemed, but they evolved and got better. I remember some epic fights in SoR’s garrison, that we (JQ) had a waypoint in. The server with the best all-around coverage wins, it’s true, but it’s the power of the players to keep you there, and make the fights interesting for the other two servers.

JQ isn’t dead, not by a long shot. We promise to be out there every night giving you guys fights. Yes, NA help would be welcomed; transfers do wonders for server morale and it’s always fun to learn from your new server mates. A little EU coverage would also help, but just enough to give everyone the close fights they love. We’ll see what happens.

Until then, just get out there and have fun. I’ve made some peanut butter and chocolate chip cookie bars…. who wants one?

I think everyone is resting in anticipation to the May 28 update changes. It should bring back in play the healthy competition. I believe that challenge is constructive, we need close fights with ranks constantly changing and none of the servers should be continuously winning or losing.

As far as stagnation goes, let’s face it, in T1… a lot of us are still basically fighting that SoS-SBI-JQ matchup. The guilds are just scattered around. The change away from each other for a bit sounds like a good thing.

You can’t really judge a server’s stability, especially in T1, until they’ve both won and lost that 1st place spot. The losing is what’s the kicker. How your server reacts to suddenly not being 1st, who leaves, who remains, what changes are made. How you recover. Until then, well, anyone sitting in 1st place ~looks stable, but is the foundation concrete or cardboard?

Now, I understand that things work differently on EU servers. Different playstyles, different mentality. That said, I think you would be pleasantly surprised by JQ. We love our fighting a million times more than standing around derping behind tower/keep walls. Large groups to fight? Bring it on. Outmanned, and possibly outnumbered? Who cares, push their kitten in.

You would definitely have folks to fight, as IRON has a huge, dominating presence in the EU timezone. In fact, I have seen IRON being hopeful that JQ would get some EU guilds, so they have someone to fight against. There would be very few doors to fight, but loads of potential loot bags.

So, yes, we could absolutely use some help. If you have any questions, or wish to see how things are on JQ for yourself, feel free to contact me.

That is why we in Black Gate are stuck in a bad position.
Right now there are only 2 active Borderlands SoR and BG. So we will be hit by both SoR who now have the strongest EU and JQ who are hungry for scraps.

The thing JQ lacks are guilds willing to duke it out with a SoR zerg and they go for what is easy and SoR have no choice, but to go to BG.

Overall it is a small mater. If i am i am no longer sick in a few hours then i will come on and go after SoR like i always do. After all there is no fun in fighting some one who do not have more numbers.

JQ does not avoid fights with SoR. Reset night for example SF and friends took Their home map hoping Their N/A best was there. We cheered when we found TW in hills. We knew it was on…and some great fights were to be had for the rest of the night.

What happened? While I was working on inner hills about 10 minutes after reset, Blackgate ended up ignoring everything SoR…and coming into the hole i made in hills…and attacked JQ

Then kept attacking us for the next 2 hours while doing their best to ignore or avoid fights with SoR. In fact each time i figure i’ve given Blackgate enough of a beating and i switch to attacking SoR..you guys come right back for more and hit JQ

So forgive me when i laugh at you here for even making this post. And forgive me for making a point in flipping Blackgate’s garrison 3 times so far this week and everything else i see of yours paper because of your laughable tactics on reset night

-Active PvE/Dungeon community: Don’t like to spend all of your time in WvW? Don’t worry, we don’t, either You will never find a shortage of people to do world events/Temples/FoTm/dungeon runs with.

-Stability: JQ has been in Tier 1 since the start (okay okay, so we slipped for ONE week back at the beginning…) and we can offer your guild a spot with one of the most competitive WvW communities out there. 13 1st place finishes; 11 2nd place; 3 3rd place.

In spite of the claims, we are not queued 24/7. You will hit occasional BL queues during NA prime time, but it’s never on ~every map outside of reset night.

We have a number of people not playing at the moment. Some of SEA has been taking a break, along with, well, every other time zone. BG coming back will get all of JQ playing again, so this is a good thing!

I’ve been on JQ since bwe1, so I’ve been accepting my payments in monthly installments since August. They are delivered by a quaggan riding a yak. I’m almost to 1k, then I can buy that quaggan the freedom he deserves, and watch the yak ride off into the sunset.

So, here we go! Start trebbing Bay from Garrison, put up white swords. Sneak your full zerg around to, for example, NW gate. Have 20 or so people melt the gates in a hurry, still no orange swords. Do the same on North inner. Entire zerg in the lords room, done. Do this with any tower, keep, whatever. Have thieves go around and put up swords on every structure on the map. Send the zerg to a target, melt the gate with 20 or so, cap.

This will make things worse. I’ll make sure of that.

Basically. This doesn’t feel thought out, especially for folks in lower tiers. Most of the servers in the top tiers have people to spare at most times, and can drop 5 people into a keep/tower to cover every gate. That’s definitely not true in every tier. Making the number scale down the further you get down the ladder could solve this, maybe.

If you guys havn’t noticed by now all we at SoR really care about is the fights. We basically showed that was the case last night in EB when choo farmed you guys in the lord room for like an hour and we all got about 400-500 kills and basically almost lost everything else. Most of our members actually wanted to stay and farm you in SM lord rooms the whole night while we lost everything else on the map and just have a nice blue icon right in the middle because it was really fun, but our commander couldn’t let our waypointed keep get taken, so we pulled out and let SoS take it. The difference between servers is SoR goes where the fight is while JQ and SoS go where the fight isn’t to maximize their PPT. I guess it depends on what you find fun in the game, having a big PPT or having amazing fights. SoR just loves the fights waaay to much and doesn’t play the PPT game like JQ and SoS, which will most likely be our downfall in the long run.

You’re having fun playing the way you want to; I see no downfall. It’s a game, you may as well have some fun — however you, or anyone else, define it.

More than anything, really, I think people just like to have fun. I can honestly see how AGG and FoE might not have been having much of that lately, as T1 is a pressure cooker even when your server is 100% up and fighting. T2 definitely seems to have that ‘fun’ factor, without the pressure of having to win/stay in T1. When you get demoralized, it takes a while to bounce back. Having some fun smashy times with a new server… yeah, I can see the appeal there. I don’t know how anet could fix this, that said. AGG/Foe feel free to correct me if I’m wrong here, and you really just moved to BG for naked yak parades. I don’t judge.

As for those leaving sinking ships, the same is likely true. Being turned into paste all week for months on end while you tumble down the ladder isn’t fun for anyone. With the way glicko er… ‘works’ I don’t see this changing much.

Now, I can’t really speak on why everyone decided on JQ. They likely all have their own reasons, ranging from ‘fun’ to ‘community’ to ’Let’s be real, I just want to turn SoS into a fine paste’. All are valid reasons, since we all have a right to play this game any dang way we want.

Whatever their reasons were for moving, it feels almost like people would have rather we told guilds “I’m sorry, you can’t do what you want/what will be fun for you; you need to move to X server instead.”

I’m glad your commander is back. SoS is made of sturdy stuff, and I don’t think you guys are the type to fall apart if you spend some time losing. Hell, if we’d just given up when we were losing, we’d be in t8 by now.

Well, a few minutes ago, there was a band of SoR flipping the north camp on SoS BL. We three kept a “there is nothing to see here, move along” profile. And we were deemed insignificant. The things you have to do to get that Vista in the north.

I don’t bother people obviously getting skill points/vistas. If they are doing that, they aren’t crapping on the things you love. I was wiped by a zerg of 25+ BG once trying to get that north vista on their BL. Alone on my level 15 necro. lmao.

SF are awesome people, and we are lucky to have them. All hail, glorious Jed Quarry. It’s always kinda weird adding new people to your community, but SF has managed to fit in as if they’ve always been here. Same goes for our other transfers, really

Whoever wins the Bg/Kain beatdown, but I wouldn’t count on either moving up this week. SoS won’t go down a tier without a fight.

Since the culling ‘fix’ I’ve had massive lag. I go into a battle, and it’s just like… I get locked up, can’t move, make some pretty weird positions on my screen, and then I’m downed.

I haven’t been to EB since Friday morning, but it was hell there, just as you describe.

I appreciate being able to see more people, but I’d almost rather not if I’m not going to be able to actually play.

It helps if people on your server get to know each other a bit, voice comms are a bonus. If you need help with something, ask for help or even just let /map or /team know what you and your group are up to, never belittle everyone for not helping or throw a fit in chat, that kind of negativity is catchy. You might start out small and it might take awhile, but people will notice stuff happening on the map and they’ll want to get in on the action. That’s usually how commanders are born on our server.

^ Alla this. You typically can find a camp to take on a map. If it’s not the one your on, move. Find anywhere you can get started. Go unexpected routes, to avoid zergs. Act politely and with confidence, and people will follow you.

This happens to everyone in T1, just at varying times. JQ’s weakest time is undoubtedly right now, whereas yours was earlier today. It’s no different, really. If we’re not meant to outnumber you at your weakest time, you should all stop playing right now during ours. Only fair, right?

How is it rude to NA players, but not completely out of line and rude to Oceanic/SEA players? That just doesn’t even make sense. You are ‘night capping’ them, by the way, so what if they suggested that you not be able to achieve the same ppt during their resting time? Do you see how that works?

Over on JQ, we do not have the numbers to compete with the oceanic prime time numbers of SoS, but suggesting that they be unable to play during their prime time, while I get to play in mine is absolute rubbish.

Had a lot of fun tonight on SoR bl in the Drunken Naked Alt XP Train zerg. I’m sure we baffled anyone we ran into, but we were laughing hysterically and seeing who we could actually wipe by being underleveled and naked, lol. Seeing people just beating on the door to their death in Hills was hilarious. Great fun, guys.

That defense in SoR garry last night was crazy. I really thought you guys had it, at several points. I felt like I needed a smoke when it was finally over. We kind of just looked at each other all “….” and got about repairing the walls. A well-defended garry should be hard to take though, as it’s like the heart of each map.

Score update. It’s JQ’s nap time, so be quiet around the honeybadgers. Can SoR make a glorious comeback for second place? I think you’ve got it in you…

I highly doubt you will be able to get this going. SoR is well known for not wanting to team with other servers. In T2 losing week after week to BG players from IoJ purposed a 2v1 several times and got flamed by us for it.

We like our 3 way fights to much.

So far, JQ and SoS are untested against each other at full strength. The first week, it was blackouts and not being able to move people over; this week has been Holidays/Natural disasters/burnout. This next reset should hopefully see where we line up against each other.

SoR is the wild card here, but I gotta say, entering t1 in second place is like being the meat in a pain sammich. I say this from experience, having been second place, well, a lot.
