It still kind of annoys me the way they did the wardrobe change, I have a feeling I am missing things I paid for but have no idea exactly what or where it could be (prob xmas stuff). Having to send all my chars from where they are parked to play hunt the clothing doesnt seem a fun time to spend my time :/

I concur with other people, Its valuable if you want the elite specs for pvp but the expansion itself isnt worth it for the content. I would recommend shopping around as you can find places that sell HoT cheaper.

Theres two things
1) There needs to be the gold sink – otherwise literally everyone would have every weapon within a few weeks (not feeling so legendary anymore are we?).
2) Im fine with time gating on the mats – legendaries aren’t meant to be “earned” in a couple of days. – if people want to overpay for the materials then that’s their choice – The only way around time gated materials would be time gated quests ie from your list doing the M Maelstrom one day but then having to wait 24 hours before you can meet an npc to give you the next part. Thats not so easy in a live map scenario I would think? (not sure).
By the way I don’t think anet want to have chars standing on top of mountains in storms waiting for lightning to hit – you know someone will do it in person and then then sue them

Fractals have their own daily acheivs in a separate tab. I know you are trying to push people into doing fractals, even those who don’t want, but there are only 3 spaces for pve acheivs and one of them doesn’t need to be taken by fractals half the time. there are areas of pve that aren’t covered at all, how about using the slot on those instead of having double dipping with Fractals?

If they could find a way to have a monthly weekend/week special event where you talked to a character in LA for instance and they took you into a part of LS1 (say the marionette fight or LA battle etc) then that would be a wonderful way to use the content code already written, for old players to get nostalgic for a weekend and use their hoarded currencies they forgot to use and for new players to experience LS1 one for the first time as new content.
I know anet have said there is difficulties with making LS1 playable but I wonder if there’s a way around this similar to the fractal portal to take is out of the “real world”.

I’m not a programmer so I don’t know the feasibility but it seems a way to use already written/built ideas as part of a method to keep the interest of players old and new.

Just go with a District system like in gw1, if the population rises to a certain threshold, new districts will automatically be added that players can choose to go to.

This, so much this! When a large guild gets split over three instances when doing a guild mission race, its proof the system needs an overhaul. then the GM gets started and a popup comes that says someone started it in another instance even though the person who started it was in the one I am in…. just let us choose – all go to D1/D2/D3 etc

Ok, I have checked tax laws here in Massachusetts. If the business has an office or warehouse in the state they must charge a tax. Now as of yesterday I was charged a tax on the TP front for gem purchase (never charged a tax before) Does ANet now have an office/warehouse in MA.?
When I purchase a gem card at nearbyTarget store no tax is charged.

Its not anet, its whether their payment processor that they use has a presence in MA (or wherever). I believe the processor is a decent size and has offices all over the country (likely incl MA)

@Just a flesh wound : Thanks, and gaile is always nice, sadly, one cant just keep up with every possible dev post here and I missed it. A more logical adn correct way to solve this is to just add a line of text to said achievments in-game, saying : This achievment will be removed at dd//mm//yy.

You could have done exactly the same thing by using them and seeing how many more you needed. I am the worlds worst procrastinator and have missed out on things due to that. you made the choice in how to do the achievement and it was the wrong one, not anets fault.

That’s the benefit of having friends or guildies to ask. We always made it clear for anyone asking in GC so they knew what was going away. Even if you cant keep up with posts, there will be someone who does. End days can and do change in game just as in RL – if its a achievement that’s important to you then you should do the checking to ensure you are aware. As soon as they put a date on it there would be complaints from other time zones where it finished early/late or that they expected it to finish at 17.00 not 10.00 when they update happened. Simply put, the best thing is to not leave it until the last day and you can usually tell when that is from the countdown of the events items leaving the gem store (Also that is will be on a Tuesday when anet does the updates).

I would like bank tabs. I am not “working” on any pre cursor specifically but am picking up bits and bobs while doing other stuff and do not want to throw them away in case I have to do something with them later, so there they are in my bank… along with lots of other stuff (keys, boosts etc etc) it really wasn’t hard to fill up the 12 tabs I already have.

You can give away ToKs though as long as you have at least one open guild slot. They are used for various guild upgrades.

Wish they were used a lot more in the GH, there are relatively few needed in the upgrades and there are a lot of people with them sat around in stacks. I didnt get the chance to donate them as there were others who got there first! haha

Heck I have mine there just to make level 20s to key farm (when I’ve used up all the scrolls that is).

Laurels are the best choice, in theory. Ascended crafting materials are better if you need gold, imo (you’ve mixed up the Legendary and Ascended chest contents, btw.)

Not entirely. At current prices the 7 clovers is worth around 15g.

This is interesting and something I hadn’t even considered in value because it was like, just clovers and shards. I may consider this as an option….

I’ve always gone for laurels except once I clicked on ascended by mistake and got 2 (yay) and am sitting at just under 1,500 until I decide when I want to hurt my clicking finger to get T6 (well waiting for the 1.5k so I can screenshot first now, lol).

If there wasn’t a cap then the players that were ahead would continue to earn AP. New players would never be able to catch up to them as they could never make up for the gap in daily AP.

The daily AP cap and historical AP are two entirely separate issues.

No actually they aren’t. Without a cap a player has to keep playing to earn new APs and stay ahead otherwise other players catch up. On the current situation, Players who have “retired” remain ahead forever with all other things being the same.

I also note that you didn’t explain your logic on how something is worse than never.

Why should anyone only because he logged in each day (and never did pvp/wvw/raid/or hard achievs like migraine) be ‘better’ forever? The ap system was for people that are dedicated and that fullfill a lot of hard or expensive achievements and not for someone who has no real life and can login each day for (currently) 3.5 years.

The daily AP cap is great! Other good changes would be to change festival ap, so you can do them each year but they only count AP once. And an other good point would be for example if at some point LS1 returns all historical AP would be put into the LS1 achievs.

With such changes you would have real challenge on the ladder especially at the top positions! And everyone, even new player could reach the top.

I think thats the real problem here, that people are obsessed with the ladder (I have never even looked at the ladder – I am not interested in that). I think the introduction of the AP ladder was a horrid thing (but it would seem I’m in the minority here).

If they did that with LS1 then they would/should have to do that with every other retired event.

As for thinking someone is “better” for the amount of APs they have, well those people are the ones who have no life if that’s the basis to value others. PS, there are no hard acheivs – everything can be bought with gold, including the raids – just look at the lfg any day (apart from the horrid timed festival JPs maybe).

All I want to do is to continue to unlock my armour and weapons along with the fun of getting a chest every 500 points, heck make the AP total unable to be seen by anyone else as far as I care.

Please never remove the daily AP limit. It is an important milestone for an account and serves as an upper threshold so that new players have something attainable with immense effort so that they can compete with other older veterans on the AP leaderboard.

See, you just proved one of my points, you can NEVER compete, because they have APs from events long retired that you can never get.

There are a number of reasons ANet instituted the AP limit:

• Player request: those at & near the top of the leaderboards felt compelled to milk dailies to maintain (or grow) their position.
• Fairness: newer players could never catch up.
• Anti-grind: without a limit, there’s pressure on everyone to keep doing dailies past the point of enjoyment.

Personally, I think setting a single limit for all time was a short-sighted approach to those issues. I don’t think ANet should remove the limit — it still serves a purpose.

I do think it would be reasonable to give it a cost-of-living adjustment, e.g. increase it by 500 or 1000 points per year. That would still (mostly) satisfy the original reasons, while also giving ‘loyal’ veterans something to look forward to.

1. Of players feel the need to be at the top of the leaderbard then they shold have to do something to maintain it. Sat there forever at the top while not having to do anything makes the leaderboard and game stagnant. Those at the top only wanted that so they could keep their “prestige” without having to work to do it.

2.Fairness. “I” can never catch up to those people because I did not do non recurring content when APs had no value. I am not a super mario world kind of player and so did not like SAB etc. Having this limit means than ALL new players will NEVER be able to catch up – at least they have a small chance without a cap.

3. There’s no pressure to do anything a player doesn’t want to do, if you dont want to do the dailies then fine. Considering all the grind that is in the game (espec HoT) then this just doesn’t hold water with me.

I think your suggestion is a possible compromise, being added to the birthday gift mechanic maybe. It would at least be one of those “it must be right because no one would be completely happy”

So on my main account I just hit the 15k limit a few days ago.

I came on to play most days mainly to get my dailies and then see what else was happening in my guilds etc. Now I feel so disincentivized to even look in game apart from to get the daily chest.

I did not do many of the “retired events” back in the day because they weren’t really my thing, not enough time while I was busy elsewhere, APs weren’t valuable etc so I find myself stuck at just over 25k APs.

Every person has their own things they like to do be it raids, dungeons, farming or even doing dailies to see their total tick up 10 points. It feels like the thing I enjoyed doing and seeing the result of has been removed from the game.

It surely wont hurt anet to remove this barrier – it does feel like being penalized for being a long time player. After all it would take over 1 and 1/3 YEARS of doing the dailies for it to cost them 400 gems.

I think the fact it also stops the flow of shards apart from the dailies is an issue too if you happen to be a heavy user of those.

There are lvl 400 scribes out there though, so I assume there are recipes that have been done at least once to get to 400 and therefore a possible guide?

If Xanthic says there are still gaps in his guide, then is this the manual step thats missing from them being added to the API? ( I know there are ones that may not have been done once yet but I am assuming they are due to the insane cost which wouldnt factor into a scribe guide anyway).

What got me was the fact these boxes contain recipes, so I expected there to be recipes like that can be purchased from the TP or from karma vendors for certain things, but no, it automatically adds these recipes to the char you open the box on( Yes, I made the same mistake as the OP).

Seems strange, I havent had that problem with any of my alts, I think you would need to put in a ticket for this with screenshots etc.

Three months for ascended is perfectly reasonable imo. As others have said there are other methods to get pieces cheaper/more efficiently and its also very easy to get exotic pieces while waiting to get the ascended pieces. If all you are doing is WvW then maybe ascended armour should be of more concern to you as you wont (highly unlikely) get all pieces of that drop for you in 3 months of WvW.

I like this idea, have each “old currency” have a value of skritt tokens to trade in and then have a skritt token tab that you can buy various items for the tokens.

Yes, it would, they would have had to use them without the benefit of the buff. you just don’t want to see it would be unfair because it benefits you not to see it. I for one would be kittened if I had wasted up to 2k+ minutes of karma booster minutes in order to do what was required.

Yes, you cant do the Jormag ach until next year. They were pretty clear that the only one they were allowing after Wintersday was the drink ach.

There is no way the people that used their canes up to get the AP would be happy if they changed it now at this late stage anyway.

Where is this showing exactly?? All my wintersday Acheivs are now in the Historical Section. If you were watching it, that doesnt mean its still active, it just means you have to remove it from your watch list now.

Very hard to understand the lack of consistency regarding refunds. Multiples of infinite gathering tools were refunded, as were town clothes. Now they’re saying no refunds for duplicates of terrace passes, salvaging tools, etc. Makes no sense.

Well, given that the would not refund the amount when slots went on sale from a purchase a few days before that hadnt been used, Im not shocked by anets position..

1 slot for a copper matic thing for 700 gems seems fair compared to having to buy multiple. the fact that you would have to equip and unequip mining tools though anyway makes it not worth it for me though, I’ll just use normal ones when/if I harvest on my alts.

They said it was only the drinker for the shoulders collection achievement. Im sorry to say, you assumed it was for candy canes also when that was not said anywhere so it is your error.
