So, I was confused as to what happened at the end with Primordus too. I initially thought we fed it enough magic to put it to sleep basically but then after reading this thread I was on the train of thought that we had taken away it’s magic putting it into a dormant state.
…. That was until I read the story summary in the Story Journal in game, which says that when the machine blew it hit Primordus with a bolt of Jormag energy and that Taimi thought that the same probably happened with Jormag…..
So we were all wrong! We apparently just mortally wounded Jormag/Primordus with the opposing energy enough to put them in a dragon down state??
Ugh, the lengths we have to go to to make sense of this stuff sometimes, amirite?
I have been trying to get back into the game, but I have no one to play with, past friends have all stopped playing and I find myself logging into a very lonely online world….
I would like to find a guild and make some friends. I am a filthy casual though, so I understand if you don’t want me in your guild
I just want to find some people to play the game with, that want to play with me and not just have me as a number in their guild roster.
Wasn’t Caudecus going to the Isles of Janthir? But then in this episode he’s just back at the most obvious place, his house? Idk, maybe I’m missing something here, but to me I feel like they rushed his death and all the excitement of him going to Janthir is just out the window now. Please tell me I missed something.
So, it’s been forever since I’ve done anything Youtube related, but I decided to give it a go again with a new idea I have for a series. Think of it like an audio book, but for Guild Wars 2 lore.
Far too often, it seems like there are really good bits of lore scattered across Tyria with no really good way to access them again unless you trek all over again and hopefully read the entires in the right order. That is, if you are able to read them again.
So I decided to start a new series where I take lore entries and one by one compile them into easily accessible audio book style videos. I decided to start the series off with the achievement in Heart of Thorns “A Study In Gold” where you traverse Tarir reading the tablets scattered about revealing the speech given to the Exalted by the last Forgotten.
Just logged in and it seems like the carving pumpkins in the labyrinth are not there? I wasn’t the only one who was not seeing them and yes my client is updated….
So I have 18/18 of the achievments for the story journal on Out of the Shadows, but the icon next to the story journal for Out of the Shadows is not stamped like it should be complete for the master achievment, I got the bloodstone crown, so is this a bug?
Now, I haven’t completed one of the achievements “Lost Souls” yet, but on the story journal page, it shows for master completion, you get the bloodstone crown as your reward, which I have.
So do I need to get ALL of the achievements even if I have 18/18? Or is this bugged?
If you need to get more than 18 achievments for the master achievment, then you should make this more clear, cause it’s confusing and bothersome.
What if there’s the off chance that Seis moves by the amount of sensors she receives? I mean, she even says she almost has all the sensors.
The fact that two staff members visited could also mean that Anet was seeing if this method of gating was more efficient than timegating, and that when players realize Seis is gated based on the sensors players obtain, the event would kick into full gear.
This would be acceptable, but no communication both in game or from the devs in days would suggest that this isn’t at all how this is intended to work.
Looks like Anet’s worst enemy, communication, has reared it ugly head again…
This is exactly why I have started playing WoW on the side. Anet, I guess, believes that making an hours worth of content and then timegating it is acceptable to keep people occupied.
To be honest, I would log in daily to complete this achievment, but if it’s weekly? Then I will never bother with it, it’s just annoying to have to keep up with the timegating of GW2 when I could just play ANY other game and actually have content I don’t have to wait to play.
I would rather ANet just let us players complete this achiev in a day and be honest with themselves that they have created just that, an hours worth of content, instead of pretending they’ve made a lot of content by timegating it. It’s a cheap and ineffective way of occupying players time.
1,100+ Ping Since Upgrading to Windows 10
in Account & Technical Support
Posted by: webtoehobbit.4201
I don’t know what to do, Guild Wars 2 has literally become unplayable for me and I seem to be the only one encountering this cause no one else say they experience this. But since upgrading to Windows 10 about a week ago, I have crazy huge ping spikes from 1,100 on upward to 3,000 sometimes…
The game completely stops and then five seconds later will rubberband like crazy to catch up. I have tried looking up solutions online, but no luck. Is there anyone on here who has experienced this and has been able to fix it? Or any devs that have any say on the matter? I want to continue playing this game but I am just at a complete loss… :’-(
Also getting a log in error to Guild Wars 1…
I never should have had the GWAMM title, and I got the email, but upon checking the Hall of Monuments achievments, I have NONE of them, and I did have at least 6 of them done…. I just lost a crap ton of achievment points that I SHOULD HAVE… Ugh thanks anet, please fix this pronto.
Yeah, see the FIVE times I have played through the HoT story I never caught that. I just always assumed that the Pale Tree gave it to her sometime post Zhaitan kill.
So I am playing through Season 2 of the Living World again and I just noticed something.
So in HoT, Caithe said that she was going after the egg because it was her NEW wyld hunt, but just now, replaying through S2, I just went to the Pale Tree in Episode 7 and when I told her that Caithe had the egg, she acted surprised and said that she wasn’t supposed to care for the egg, that I was.
Now maybe I missed something, but where did she get this new wyld hunt from? Do Sylvari just get them? Like a feeling deep inside them? Or are they given new ones from the Pale Tree?
Any answers anyone can give would be greatly appreciated, if there are any.
Thanks!
And to those of you who think, “They said each chapter will have a higher quality.” Just look at their history of making promises. Each chapter will be as short as Season 2. Calling it now, nothing will change.
And “higher quality” is not the same as “more content”. These LS3 chapters could be just as small as previous chapters, just with more polish.
I think it was a mistake of them to let third party websites release this info first, hopefully a dev can clarify these statements before the riots start.
If there are going to be such huge time gaps between each chapter then they should be bigger imo.
It should be a LOT bigger, but do you really believe without a doubt, knowing ANet’s track record for making promises that this will be so?
If so, and you truly believe they will finally stay true to their word, then kudos to you for having that kind of unwavering faith in a company that has continually let down their playerbase.
But I feel that you know darn well exactly what to expect, a portion of a zone and 4 story instances, the same size as a Season 2 Living World chapter, but just 2 – 3 months apart cause they have decided that they must please all playerbases within the game equally.
Prepare to be disappointed people, calling it right now.
With this severe content drought and nothing but very specific content aimed at the more hardcore crowd, I can’t help but to feel a bit forgotten. Sure we have current events, but those are nothing compared to the love that the other parts of the game have seen.
Do you think that the casual base is a minority? I have always felt that the casual gamer base was quite populous in GW2, but maybe I was wrong, maybe its full of hardcore players.
I’m just feeling left out lately, waiting for Living World Season 3 is going to be tough. :-(
And to those of you who think, “They said each chapter will have a higher quality.” Just look at their history of making promises. Each chapter will be as short as Season 2. Calling it now, nothing will change.
This is gut wrenching news for me. I have been waiting, like the rest of us for months for any new casual PvE content. You know, the content that the MAJORITY of us can play, that isn’t exclusive like PvP tournaments or Raids.
I have held out hope for years now, continuing to tell myself that, “Things will get better, they’re just finding their footing.” But no more, this is utterly incomprehensible how EVERY other game type has been getting so much attention and love recently and Living World gets thrown aside?!?! This is unacceptable and I won’t be logging into the game until Living World Season 3 drops. That is unless another game hasn’t enthralled me completely by then. I spend money weekly in the gem store to support ANet, but not anymore. I can’t keep getting strung along with my hopes only to have them crushed at every possible opportunity.
This is a sad day for me, and possibly my last day playing GW2. I really had such high hopes for this game, but ANet can’t seem to really deliver. Just a bunch of empty words from them.
So I just joined a DS taxi group and when I clicked on a name to join in their instance of the map, I got a network error and it said to check my network connection…
Others in the same group were getting this as well. Is this a bug? Or what?
I am literally 2 paths of Honor of the Waves away from having enough tokens to get Frostfang… But I can’t find any group at all. I have been in LFG for an hour now
Is there a trick to this?
So, I haven’t seen anyone bring this up. Maybe people just aren’t playing and don’t care? Or maybe they are too busy with the new raid, but when exactly can we expect to hear about the spring quarterly update?
We’re halfway through March and this is coming in April at the latest, otherwise we are looking at only three updates a year, which would not be quarterly….
So yeah, when do we hear ANY info bout this new update?
It’s downright depressing for me. I can barely muster up the desire to log in even if for just my dailys anymore. :-(
I think this expansion finally broke my faith of ANet and how they can (or can’t) deliver with their franchise. I had always held out hope that, “well maybe next time they will do better.” “Maybe the expansion will be the answer for all of our hopes.”
But I just feel utterly let down, and I hate feeling this way, GW1 and GW2 have been my main games for over 8 years now! I just feel like it’s time to jump to another game, and that is very disheartening. A little bit of info for us lore peeps would be something to at least keep us going but I have this fear that for the next quarterly update in April all we are going to hear is, “Living World Season 3 is coming!” and maybe a couple more vague statements about what the story MIGHT contain…
Ugh! I hate feeling this way :-(
I have become very jaded with Guild Wars 2 lately. I play Guild Wars 2 pretty much for the story and well, maybe that’s my downfall.
We waited 10 months for the xpac to release, which as we all know had a very lackluster and seemingly rushed story, and now almost 6 months after the release of the xpac we still have no news on anything Season 3 living world….
And then when we do get Season 3 is it going to be like every 2 months we get a new chapter?
I don’t mean for this to just be a complaint thread but as a long time dedicated player to the Guild Wars franchise, the story is being told at such a snails pace as compared to Guild Wars 1. Should we expect anything better as far as pace of storytelling going forward? Or should I just find some other game to sate my storytelling desires?
I hear FF14 is good as far as story goes, but I want to stick with GW2 :-(
Anyone else feeling like how I’m feeling?
So a little back story:
When I did the Dragons Stand meta for the first time, I got to the end and then my game crashed. Having thought this was some sort of fluke, and not knowing at the time about the 64 bit client, I tried again the next day. My game crashed again and then after ranting about it in Lions Arch, was informed of the 64 bit client.
So I got the 64 bit client, and I had a successful run of Dragons Stand! :-D However, the next day, I was doing the meta again and then right when we got to the blighting towers, the ENTIRE map, squads and all just got ported to a new instance of the map, resetting not only the meta itself, but all of our progress. I learned later that this is due to an issue with the megaservers prompting the inhabitants of an empty map to relocate, then people taxi in, it becomes full but that timer is still ticking away :-(
Then, after that disheartening event, I decided to not give up but try again. But the next day during the meta run we got a prompt that a new patch was available in 10 minutes, our timer at the time was at 1 hour and 15 minutes, so theoretically, we had plenty of time. However, at the end, we realized that at the Mouth of Mordremoth fight, we had less people than we thought, probably because people unknowingly logged out to get the update thinking they could get back into the map. That run resulted in a very epic fail of the last boss fight.
So there’s my little history of the map, and maybe I’ve just had a run of really bad luck. But I’m at the point where a lot of what I want to grind for involves needing crystalline ore, which in turn means a lot of Dragons Stand grinding.
But just thinking about Dragons Stand nowadays gets me stressed, like, do I want to chance it again? Only to have some bug or patch rear it’s ugly head which will lead to a failure an hour into working on this?
Am I alone in this? Or have other people had similar experiences as me? Hopefully I’ll get a lot of responses that the map isn’t as bad as I’ve experienced which will give me more hope to try it again.
(edited by webtoehobbit.4201)
I would be in game running Dragons Stand, but instead I’m playing another game cause I don’t want to risk 2 hours of my life for something that’s just going to bug out on a grand scale.
Any word from the devs on this would be greatly appreciated, we know you read the boards, please respond.
Was just doing the meta, we had 2 blighting towers down, 25 mins left on the clock, then the entire map gets a loading screen for Dragons Stand and we all find ourselves in the same groups but just in a map that has reset?!
Lost all of our participation, entire event reset. What a waste of all of our time.
This is unacceptable. It’s one thing is a collection is bugged, but when people spend over an hour in a meta only to lose everything? This is the stuff that makes people quit games. This should be a top priority fix right now if it isn’t already.
I need some help, I bought the angry wintersday gift, talked to the skritt collector in LA, killed the golem for the dirty cog, then upon bringing it to Rikka, he/she didn’t give me the cleaning cloth I’m supposed to get from him/her. Am I missing something? Or is this a bug?
Ticket: 1992008
Has been three days, I know you all must be busy, but just wondering the status of mine? Wasn’t rewarded with the two Gifts of Exploration that I should’ve gotten upon 100% world completion for core Tyria.
Should I submit a second ticket? A third? Please someone help!
Could a dev please respond on here, it’s been at least two days now since I have not only reported this here, but since I have submitted my ticket and still no word from anyone on my missing Gifts of Exploration I should’ve gotten for getting 100% world complete on my Necro.
I already submitted a ticket for this, but just wanted to know if anyone else has had this issue.
I just finished the core Tyria maps on my necro this evening and got 100% world exploration, but instead of the pop up for world complete, I got the pop up chest for Iron Marches completion (the zone I was exploring) and then also got pop up chests for The Silverwastes completion and Dry Top completion….
Thing is, I’ve already gotten Silverwastes and Dry Top completion rewards previous on my Necro, so why did I get them a second time when not even in the map and why didn’t I get my Gift of Exploration?
I hope ANet is able to refund me one Gift of Exploration soon since I was given two other zones completion rewards in it’s place? I’m so confused.
Been crashing more actually since I switched to the 64 bit client, and only during the metas… I don’t understand, this game is feeling unplayable, please fix this, you guys have my info, I send error reports every time it crashes.
this games population is so high that theres dozens of maps open at once, just open lfg and merge because instead of maps filling on their own, it locates you to wheres best for you by guild and such and not by capacity
This is the main problem I’ve had with the Mega-server system, especially since HoT came out. There are way too many maps being opened. Say there are 500 players. The game creates 20 maps for these players and tosses 25 players into each map. People don’t want to play this way so they have to taxi around. Why can’t Anet change it so that instead of 20 empty maps, have 5-6 full maps? People would always log into full maps and won’t have to play the taxi game.
I agree that it’s an issue too. It’s so much more noticeable on HoT maps because of the group gameplay that is required there.
But what if some people prefer to be on empty maps? It’d be useful if either 1) players could choose whether they prefer high/low population maps in game settings or 2) players could choose which instance they want to go to once in the map. People with slower connections/computers or faster computers/higher ambitions can then choose as they need.
Prefer to be on empty maps? What would that accomplish? You need populated maps to be successful, at least in HoT, there isn’t any other way around that. What they should do it just optimize their game better.

Interesting, so this might all be a Megaserver issue that needs to be adressed and not an issue of no one is playing the maps… Well maybe someday there will be a fix.
It just depresses me, I want to love this game, I want to log in and feel like it’s viable to do something other than raids since I’m one of those “tryhards”/“filthy casual” and raids aren’t really my cup of tea at the moment. (although it feels like that’s what they’re trying to shoehorn everyone into, gut dungeons and then put those rewards basically in raids since fractals rewards are borked, but that’s an entire other discussion)
im running non-stop Auric Basin meta, and its fine, just taxi. I crafted my Auric Greatsword, now running to craft Auric Longbow.
People taxi in for the final meta event, Tarir, but I’m trying to get map complete, and whole areas are just blocked off cause I can’t solo events and even when asking for help to complete events, no one responds.
It’s almost like Silverwastes 2.0
And raids are going to be continually updated with new content, when are we getting new fractals to play through? Since not all of us are hardcore enough to play and be successful at raids.
I don’t get it, last week or so has just felt dead for maps like Auric Basin for me. Is everyone doing raids? Did raids kill open world content? I don’t get it, just feels really dead and with how HoT works, you really need groups of people to make progress on these metas.
Wow, didn’t think this would blow up like this (I am the OP) I just kinda was really depressed that particular night (after leaving the guild that was excluding me, well and others) and decided to just kinda rant on here.
I have enjoyed reading the responses here, and I guess I didn’t put a lot of clarification in my original post. No I was not excluded for my lack of skill, which btw, no one had any good skill at this raid going into it, well maybe except for DnT but that doesn’t count. Even the most hardcore among you had to practice the raid encounters until you got it down. I am skilled, I want to spend hours every night raiding, but my guild was flat out excluding others.
I asked every single night for a spot, if they had an opening, they would fill it with another Officer, over me, it was just absolutely disheartening, and yeah, was overall a terrible guild. But I have moved on and have found a guild that I hope to be raiding with very soon
I guess the point I was trying to make is that if people WANT to learn it in a guild, then the leaders shouldn’t be uber selfish and exlude others cause they want to do it and well, screw the rest of the guild. Why even be part of guild leadership if you don’t want to, idk, lead your guild? Help them improve if they want to?
Oh and about forming my own group, yeah, tried that, with a few guildies and pugs…. Pugs and raids don’t really mix, I want a fully dedicated guild group, not some pugs, every attempt never ended well.
I don’t know if it’s just me, but I have been having the hardest time trying to get into a guild group for raids. These guilds I am in seem to have a “core” group, of which I can’t get into since it’s the Leader/Officers of the guilds, and then the second group that they want to form never has enough people for it.
Must be nice for those of you who get to raid nightly with your core guild raid groups. I hope someday I can raid too, I mean unless I wanna pug, but that’s not really the best option is it?
I was really excited about raids, but now HoT is getting my literally down in the dumps. Maybe I should drop this game and go play something else till Living World Season 3 comes out. :-(
I am looking for a raid group, I just left my guild of over a year because they continue to exclude me from their raid group and because there is not enough players in the guild to form a second “dedicated” raid group, I instead am continually being punished by being kept out of the raid. (Instead of letting me play with the one raid group and swap out people so that I could participate)
I am serious about raids, I would, if there is a group out there, raid a few hours every single night, I have been playing this game since launch, have done every bit of content, but as feared, raids are going to leave a lot of people excluded, and not because of lack of skill, but simply because people are better friends with other people.
So please, if there is a guild out there that I can be a part of or even just a dedicated raid group that I can be a part of and have a spot on that group on a weekly basis, I am serious about raids and I want to participate.
The game has been out for a DAY, and you don’t want it to take “as long as it takes”…. So you wanted it complete in one day? That’s pretty quick, I know what the complaints are but they all seem like they’re coming from people that want everything within a day, which is an unrealistic expectation.
And “expansion what dont bring something new”? There is a ton new in this game now. Little confused on that statement.
Empty maps? They’ve all been pretty populated to me so far, are you in Dragons Stand already?
And this is coming from a guy who is in NO way a shining white knight of ANet. Seriously, look at my post history, I’ve posted some angry stuff and have even been infracted a couple times on here. (I let my passion show too much)
Now we have Heart of Thorns, and really, besides a couple of bugs that I’ve heard mention of this has been a really smooth launch, unlike other MMO’s where lag abounds, I haven’t seen a hint of lag since this xpac launched, so good on you ANet!
But what I am seeing is a multitude of people whining and complaining because they, get this….. have to play the game……
Now, if anyone should be up in arms, it should be me. I had my week of vacation from work DENIED. So there goes any time I wanted to devote to this xpac. I have probably only been able to play this xpac for like maybe 6 hours so far, and you know what?? I LOVE IT!
I don’t understand at all what this “rage” is about, play the game, enjoy it, experience it, feel like a noob all over again! I have no idea what I should be going for next in my masteries, or where I should go next in the zone to explore but man, it’s just all so fresh and new and fun!
What did you all expect? Insta elite spec? Insta ALL masteries? (which are ACCOUNT WIDE if you didn’t know) Did you want to log in to see the final cutscene of the game? Cmon guys, just settle down and go play this expansion we have waited so long for!
And to the team at ANet, I hope you don’t take these petty complaints to heart, please leave it as it is, it’s a nice system of progression and I am looking forward to mastering everything IN DUE TIME. Now go take some much deserved time off and enjoy this xpac too!
So I have been thinking lately how with the recent Tweet from ANet which more or less suggests that we will be getting 500 cooking with HoT, will this “ascended” cooking give us something similar to consumable sets (consets) from GW1?
For those of you who aren’t familiar with GW1 stuffs, here’s a link to the Guild Wars wiki that talks about consets in detail http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Consumable_set
So could “ascended” food give buffs party wide? Could this be a useful thing for raids?
I don’t know, just got me thinking.
So I just noticed today, that on my characters who completed the personal story before the fix and reintroduction of the Greatest Fear storyline only have the story summaries up until the level 70 story and then nothing after that even though I have fully completed the personal story on those characters….
I am assuming that this is a thing for other people too, but is there going to be a fix for this? ANet, enlighten us please?
Hey all, made my first Youtube video yesterday bout raids and other things from last week. Just thought I’d shamelessly advertise it here and hope you like it! ;-)
I can get some screenshots/sample vids linked tomorrow, once again, been at this all day watching tutorials that don’t help one bit. It’s like everyone has a different answer and none of them yield any good results….
I really wanted to get into this whole content creation for GW2 but maybe this just isn’t for me :-(
I just don’t get how people get pretty darn clear videos when others don’t. Is it a prestige thing? Like if you’re popular on Youtube you get better encoding? I mean sure I could make vids for GW2 and disregard the quality of how they upload, but who is gonna want to watch my vids if they are a bad quality. Ugh, this is more frustrating than it’s worth :’-(
Yeah, every attempt is in h264.
I have tried uploading the original recording (huge file size) prior to rendering it through an editor, and it seems to actually come out worse on Youtube… Yet when I view the original recording it is crystal clear. I don’t get how a lot of Guild Wars 2 youtubers get really clear gameplay footage to upload to Youtube.
What the heck am I missing? I even just downloaded the trial of Sony Vegas Pro 13 cause that seems to be what everyone is using, but there is literally no difference in the quality on Youtube. Is there some trick to getting around the compression that Youtube does? Like is there a specific setting I can render my vids at? I am just so lost with this whole thing and so frustrated, this shouldn’t be this difficult.
