Make the monitor you want games to load on your primary, then drag and drop your taskbar to the new secondary monitor. That’s now your fake primary lol. Most games will not load on secondary, if you’ve got it full screen, borderless full, etc. If you play windowed, then you could just drag the game over after load, but I honestly don’t know anyone who plays windowed except multiboxers.

This is happening to me a lot. I’m using Comcast. Anyone else? Maybe it’s a Comcast-to-ArenaNet issue. Because my computer is using a cable connection direct to the modem/router, I don’t have ping problems outside of the game, and even for the most part, inside the game is fine. Then randomly, it’ll start lagging horribly. Skills won’t fire, people start running in place. Then I just wait to see if I’m being kicked off the map back to character select.

It makes trying to do metas (especially as a commander…) very very -difficult- to say the least. Because by the nature of these stupid metas you need a full map of people not afking, so when I load back in, it’s often to a dead map even though I’m in or leading a squad. (Thanks for not saving my place for a lousy minute) And then I have to try and rejoin my active map, after already having often lost my participation percentage.

I did it on my reaper about a month ago, and ran into several of those bugs. Portals would spawn in nothing space, when I died, Mordy would use abilities right off the bat he shouldn’t have until later phases (like throwing rocks on the gliding phase), so unfortunately the only way to fix it was to come back in to a fresh instance, kill the shadows of your friends one more time, face off against Mordy, and not die and get lucky with portal spawns. I ended up doing it somehow, but I’m not looking forward to doing it again on other professions. I’m not even sure if I want to try the achievements for 5 player hard mode. lol

With the original (32bit) client I was experiencing OOM crashes after about 2 hours of play after the HoT release. I downloaded the new client (64bit) and tested it last night. Display was the same (I have most things on max), frame rate appeared the same (no stuttering, tearing), and I played for 4 hours and did not crash. I watched the process in my task manager and it went from 3gb to 4gb and seemed mostly steady. I ran around lions arch for the first half hour, then played in verdant brink doing events through a couple day/night cycles and picking up hero points on my revenant.

I’m using a desktop, windows 7 64 bit (fully updated), i5-3570K CPU @ 3.4Ghz, nvidia GTX 670 graphics card, latest signed driver, 8gb of ram.

Suffering from OOM crashes as well. One suggestion I have is party up with people, so when you load back on, you’ll be in the same instance of the map, or can right click their name and join them if you’re put in another. Hopefully anet will fix this issue soon. I had no problems during the beta weekends, but after launch, I watch it eat at my available RAM until it crashes. And I have 8gb. :-(

Same. Completed Artful Dodger and Stick the Landing, without a problem. The yellow icons show up saying I qualify for the Smiths and Peer Review, but the smiths don’t spawn and the page is can’t be interacted with.

My system is very close to yours, in fact it was identical when i first got the game, but i now have a GTX770. I have been crashing roughly every hour since the HoT patch. I have lowered my settings as a temporary attempt to improve it but it hasn’t made a difference.

A guildy who was also crashing as much as me said that as of yesterday he started playing in windowed mode and hadn’t crashed. It’s not an acceptable solution, but maybe its something to try while Anet works on fixing this.

High five! Our pcs rock. Built my baby a few years ago, still going strong. I love being able to play on high settings and have 60fps. But I digress.

I think as time goes on NVIDIA might end up coming out with a new driver to assist in fixing the issue. But it’s probably something Anet will also have to work with them on. And right now its busy time, which I totally get with HoT launch. I currently play on windowed fullscreen mode, since I’ve got a dual monitor set up. Actual windowed would be meh. Fullscreen makes dual monitors pointless, alt+tab. lol

I might go back to goofing off with Wildstar until the leak is fixed. (If anybody hasn’t tried WS, if you like GW2 and Borderlands, it’s like they had a baby. So glad WS has a f2p option now. I just have no time for sub games like when I was younger) I’m in no rush to beat the HoT story, gives me something to do at night after I wrangle the toddler into bed.

Are you running full screen? Maybe try windowed full screen, or vice versa?

There’s a graphics memory leak going on with the new client, it could be affecting how the game is displayed. I have HoT, but I get an memory leak crash every hour to two hours of play after a temporary game freeze. That’s like my five minute warning. Lol

I’m getting this same crash. I have 8GB RAM though so I have a little bit longer between OOM crashes. lol

I’m on 64bit Win7, i5-3570K at 3.4Ghz, GTX 670 with the 358.50 driver from NVIDIA. My cpu and gpu temps never go above 55C. My computer itself isn’t under stress. And I play other pc games without the hitching, memory leak, and crashing. This is unique to the GW2 client. I haven’t tried dropping the graphics into the “I play on a work laptop” level because I want to see the gorgeous HoT surroundings and textures. Hopefully they can nail down the cause of the leak soon.

Bugged for me. Female sylvari necro, chose to defend. I glided over to him from the rock and from the tree, it changed from the green ring to the star over his head and the quest text says to talk to him. He keeps playing music and is not interactable. I tried swapping characters, reloading the game, guesting on another server. Going to try doing a story mission on another character. At this point, it’s just borked.

There is no taunt in the game, so no tank. Which means no trinity. Support specs are getting love, that’s all. Right now most people go power, while some do condi, and few do support. That’s the GW2 trinity. No worries.

I did a google search to see if I could find anything, and nothing came up, so I apologize if this was already suggested somewhere.

The suggestion is hopefully simple, we already know double clicking a piece of armor, weapon, or accessory will add it to your character (with/without the “are you sure?” box if not already bound to the account/character) but there’s the problem of the 1, 2 ring and 1, 2 earring. Double clicking will always add it to the 1 spot, and right clicking and selecting Equip does the same, if you have rings and earrings already equipped. (If you have nothing equipped, double clicking will add to the 1 spot first, then the 2 spot, which I thought was odd behavior that it doesn’t carry over to when you’ve got something equipped)

Weapons already have a “Equip to off hand” option when you right click if the weapon type could be both main and off hand. Could we get something similar for rings/earrings? Maybe a left/right slot. Right click the ring and “Equip to left/right hand,” with a left/right ear for earrings option.

Yeah, because with trinity mmos, I never hated this part at ALL…

The other two in my group turn to me and beg me to please play my healer or tank so we can just GO already.

And the whole WoW lfg finder only sort of fixed things, because 3 dps will still wait around for healers and tanks to join, when a healer or tank a group pops immediately (especially if you’re a healer).

Yeah, that was fun never playing dps because nobody wants to be a healer or tank when the dps charge forward then blame you for not taunting enough or not healing enough.

Forget that crap. I’m happy that people have to not be dain bramaged and know how to dodge, how to take care of themselves, how to stack boons and strip conditions and play as a team. And if you don’t think that’s what happens in pve and wvw and even pvp, then I hope you get the opportunity to play with more experienced individuals in the future.

Experienced members of GW2, take a newbie under your wing, bring the community up. This trinity stuff pops up most on the forums from people who don’t understand how the game is supposed to function and have only played trinity mmos and rpgs. Lets change some hearts and minds when you see it in game.

I know I’m in the minority when I say I play charr, and a smaller minority when I say all 3 of my charr are female. Now I do want to say I freaking love the Viking theme with the norn and human hairdos. They’re awesome! And the asura are cute, and the sylvari are pretty (my favorite are the new double ponytails)

But don’t you think there are enough stupid looking charr hairdos by now? I really don’t know why charr are treated more like cartoon characters than the other races. A few funny hairdos don’t ruin the rest, like the male charr super saiyan from a makeover kit update or few ago. But now it feels like every update is ugly looking and ridiculous and I’d like more poofy or silky hair to choose from. Hell, even some more stylized mohawks would be preferable to the crap we got yesterday as lady charr. :-(

Well, then you should be considering the season two chapters you missed as if they were season one chapters: if a person were not around for the living world season one, they will never get to experience the story and gameplay, they’d only get to read summaries online or watch youtube videos fans have made. Since you did not get interested in GW2 again until recently, you missed the season two chapters and were they set up like the season one, would not get to experience them at all. But with the change they are now new permanent content, based on player feedback from the first season where we asked them to add it to our character’s story tab.

Because it’s additional, not required, content, it’s behind a pay unlock, should the account not have logged on to unlock it for free. It kind of is an expansion, in that manner. The things that people can grind for, such as the new stat sets, nomad and sinister, are tied to the new zones, dry top and silverwastes, so they aren’t behind a pay wall. The exception being the season two chapter items like Mawdrey backpiece and the ascended accessories for completing the chapter two achievements. (Though now, some of those accessories are even on the silverwastes vendor for badges, I haven’t checked dry top vendors to see if the nomad items were added for geodes to those vendors yet)

Anet didn’t lie to you, you’re just trying to justify being disappointed you missed out on unlocking content for free. /shrug Nothing you can do about it now other than pay for the unlocks, or not play the story on your account (someone already mentioned you can party up with someone else and run through the story on their account to see the story), or treat it like season one, and a missed opportunity.

I hope you will log in in January and unlock the next season chapters, so even if you decide not to play for a while, when you want to come back you’ll have the content available to you at your leisure.

For what it’s worth, I get not reading some emails, but I tend to read most emails, even stuff from WoW which I haven’t played in years. Especially when the title of the GW2 emails for the living world all say “Log in Today:” and say the chapter details. The very first email for season 2 sent on July 1st said:

“While Living World and Journal content is only playable for level 80 characters, you can unlock permanent access to this content by simply logging in while the release is live – no matter what level your characters are! Log in today to unlock the Gates of Maguuma story content in your Journal!”

GW2 still has no subscription fee, and while they catch a lot of crap for the gem store, it’s all cosmetic, there’s nothing you ever need to buy. Not many games can say that, in the age of the “season pass” and paid DLCs.

Also, as a former player now returning, you should have been getting the guild wars emails. They say specifically to log in and unlock the episode for free. My husband logs in to unlock it because he doesn’t have time to play now, but it takes five minutes to update the client and log into a character once every two weeks for the unlock.

I’m sorry you’re mad about paying for past content, but there were other options you didn’t take advantage of at the time. Luckily after the unlock all the items and achievements are permanent content, unlike season one items. It’s a nice change.

Toypocalypse waves aren’t that bad though because it’s not five games of ten rounds each, there are multiple waves of enemies per the ten rounds, each group of toys that spawns together is one wave. I played two games and finished the fifty waves halfway through the second game.

Same here and with another interesting bug, I joined the match by running into the waterfall door in divinity’s, then when I noticed it was a completed match, clicked the exit door icon over my mini map. Loading screen, flash of divinity’s, right back into loading screen… It kept putting my character in the waterfall door every time I tried to exit. I ended up joining wvw, and exited to LA through the portal to avoid the waterfall door loop I was stuck in. At least I got my achievements done, managed to finally find two just starting games. But I doubt I’ll be replaying it for fun.

I’m still at work, did we get specific extractors with the new patch? Didn’t see anything in the notes, but that doesn’t always have everything.

They won’t do secondary professions, it caused gw1 to be ridiculously imbalanced, they know it, we know it, so when you want secondary professions, at least the first game still exists, and you can enjoy it there. :-) (nostalgia tends to give individuals rose tinted glasses though)

It would be interesting if we got a new profession though, as we are “missing” a third heavy class. But the question you’d have to ask is what role would that profession fill? Between warrior and guardian, there’s not anything really needed that I can see from offensive and defensive. About the only thing you could give a heavy class they don’t have is more heavy condition application and boon stripping game play, which is what light professions and even some medium professions do. It would be interesting to try and balance that with heavy armor.

Oh and no, you can play them all out of order, some of my characters I only played through the specific story chapter to get the other armor weight reward.

Open your hero menu, and click the story icon on the left. All the season 2 story chapters are below your personal story, so then you just click one and select “play this chapter” or something along those lines.

I think seeds of truth starts with a NPC letter, so make sure your character’s mail has less than 10 items, or you won’t get it. Deleting mail should make it show up.

Anet, could you please release the specific extractors for chapter 7 collections on the 16th? Bladder and spleen? It would be a wonderful wintersday gift, and I know many of us have been good this year. :-)

Just had a teragriff do that line charge thing at me, and it got stuck on terrain, so I got juggled and also took insane damage because it seemed to apply the line damage over and over in the same spot. If you were able to change the elementalist’s flame charge from not reapplying the same line of damage on the same spot, can’t you do that to the teragriff?

Had a glove box almost two weeks ago, and a boot box last night.

After finally beating him last night with a guildie, it seems to come down to a combination of skill and luck. I played as Caithe, they were on their ranger, and swapped to bear pets and the perma regen build. Kiting the elementals through Caithes caltrops, then going invisible to hit Togonn worked best. The luck part is how many wind walls he spawns, and from what direction. You get a bunch of dodges with Caithe, but it’s very easy to dodge the wrong way. Each pip of wind wall is 5k damage (could also be a percentage of your HP, I have about 19k) so you run into 4 pips with bad placement and spawn luck and it’s game over.

I noticed the splashing running animation too and thought it odd, wonder if they will fix that.

There’s one more for purchase for bandit crests and 10g, aside from the achievement rewards.

She also seemed to lose her deep voice and drawn out cadence, which was jarring enough to take me out of the story. What she said wasn’t the issue, just how she said it.

Eh, if you’ve got the time, you’d only have to stomach the “worst dungeons in the entire MMO genre” for about 10 minutes a day between finding a cof p1 speed run, running it, and profiting with easy money.

But yes, sucks that there’s no obvious alternative, I looked last night as well, and I think it’s rather lame that there’s no achievement set to get it from like the others. I’ll probably hold off buying it until the next release anyway, just in case, since the boots and pants only really look good paired with the chest piece. So I’m in no rush. Grind grind grind the crests…

Seems like the writers are just trying to turn someone uninteresting into the most hated destiny’s edge member, and while she’ll come close now in my book (that last story with the centaurs just made her kitten level dumb), nobody can take the title away from abandon-his-friends-for-nothing Logan. (The queen mesmer macguffin’d her way out, Logan wasn’t needed, and now sits securely in the friendzone.) Caithe murdering friendly people to protect her lover, just like Logan, only more active of a role instead of passively just ditching.

Have to say it was fun to just stand there and watch Faolain fight alone, though, couldn’t bring myself to take out too many of the centaur, that was just wrong.

Yeah, I’m going to have to try him in a party tonight, I did the same and tried challenge mode for an hour alone last night and the closest I got him was about 25% left on my own before all the walls and sand swirls and other crap would essentially one shot me because I’d run out of dodges. And unlike story, he goes to full hp when you die. Not fun. This seemed less like a challenge to do alone, like other challenge motes I’ve done, and more “hope you can get friends, or you shall not pass.”

Welcome to the game! One thing I suspect is dampening your fun is that you feel overwhelmed? Guild wars is a big game, and this one is technically a sequel. There are a lot of stories and lore available online in wiki’s and player created mediums (I’d recommend wooden potatoes on YouTube, his lore videos provide a nice recap) if you want to immerse yourself in the story from the first game all the way to to current events in gw2.

So something I would suggest is just taking baby steps, get to know the npcs around you, and in your personal story. Your friends can play in your story, and they in yours, so you can see multiple angles of the world. (They just won’t get credit if they’re different races and choose different options on character creation, but that’s OK, personal story is primarily for the story aspect).

And also, just explore together, and even on your own. Gw2 is very quick to get to max level, you don’t have to grind it or rush there, it’s not like free MMOs or Korean MMOs where grinding the same mob for hours is the name of the game to get a sliver of your xp bar. So just explore, talk to npcs, and see where that takes you. :-)

I know you said you tried other lighting, does that mean you went to different locations? The spot in your picture looks like the aquarium tunnel in divinity’s, which casts a blue shade on things, and could account for the difference.

I kinda hope that we get the year 1 holidays, like the mad king’s mini dungeon and scavenger hunt for the book backpiece, in addition to all the year 2 prince stuff. The prince alone felt like it was lacking, (I know the mad king was there in year 2, he just seemed to take a back seat to the price story line last year) maybe it’s just my gw1 nostalgia peeking out again. :-) Either way, Halloween is fun but I love wintersday, super looking forward to that!

New horns and horn colors would be awesome. So far we’ve gotten Rox’s horns, but I really wish we could color them to match our fur better. Horns should get the same color hue treatment options that fur has.

I’d like more ear options for asura, also. The ones that exist are nice and very customizable, but more shapes for more options would be nice.

I’d like if scars could be added to all races.

Tattoos to all races (and more tattoos to the norn), such as humans getting their god symbols, bandit symbols, asura getting symbols representative of the eternal alchemy and their colleges, sylvari could get ones representative of time of day and mother tree/soundless, charr for their legion, warband ("typical"ones would be nice, like a claw, fire, weapons, etc). Placement would be on the face or the shoulder. (Since there are clothing options with an open shoulder, or hiding your helm shows your face)

Thank you for considering bringing back our tails! It really is important to us. I know we charr players are the minority among all characters created, but that doesn’t mean we don’t cherish our characters any less. Even if it takes more work to apply models to charr and asura bodies, please take those steps? We pay the same money/time (in gold → gems) as players who main human-like bodies (humans, sylvari, norn) and we don’t deserve to get overlooked because the bodies have extra polygons and a different frame.

I don’t know how long the sales will be, but I have a possible solution.

With the ability to gift gem store items, you could always set it up with a friend who plays to gift you things and you can gift them things in return or the gold equivalent. That way you don’t miss out. When traveling if you can still get online, dulfy is pretty good about putting up screenshots and videos of new gw2 stuff so you’ll know if you want it. Then it’s just a quick email to the friend to ask them to buy it and gift it. :-)

And part of the balance stuff that would also affect this map is the ranger’s knock back lb attack is getting a tell added to it, white lines like warrior’s pin down on drawback, and the actual shot will be purple.

It’s a small step. I’ll try it. But it still doesn’t account for the high profit low cost of being a push/pull/fear bot.

I’m interested to see what fixes they have planned for skyhammer in today’s ready up.

As someone who’s been on Blackgate from the beginning, you’re not going to find a ton of roaming like you’re used to. Roamers will get run over by zergs in T1 (20+ people), it’s just how it is. That’s not to say small groups aren’t important, it’s how camp flips happen (when it’s not a zerg recollecting supply) and bloodlust is kept. But if you rage when the train choo choos over your corpse, stay in a lower tier, for the sake of your blood pressure. Lol

That said, Blackgate doesn’t need more people. Yes, we’re awesome and haters gonna hate. But JQ and TC have nice people who are really good wvwers too, and they could use spunky new blood for a morale boost. When all of T1 comes out to play, everybody has a better time with fights.

It makes me sad. I don’t know why we and asura get the short end of the stick all the time. Charr horns get cut off with most helms, asura ears too. Charr tails clip, and now straight up removed? And it’s always irritating wearing shoes that my asura’s side toes poke out from like she’s wearing hobo shoes.

Please stop being lazy.

I think it looks nice, but why do I have to lose my tail to wear it? Talk about discrimination. They already chop off my horns with most helms, now my tail? I play charr because of the horns, fangs, claws and tail. If I wanted to be barbie, I’d play my mesmer. I hope the lack of charr tail is a bug, especially after the nice treatment of our fifth appendage in the ancestral outfit.

I think scoring needs to get rid of ppt. Make capture and defend just gain flat points, but also get rid of defend events for someone beating on a wall, the only defend event that would count is the capping circle with the vet/champ/lord.

I read some good ideas in other posts on the issue about having a scaling factor based on the number of people in wvw at any given time. In a match if server A, B and C all have 50 people playing, there’s no scaling. If server A and B both have 50 people, but server C has 20, then their (server C) captures and kills count for “more” each cap or spike.

Just throwing numbers out there:

Player kill: 25 points
Player stomp: 50 points
Camp capture: 1000 points
Camp defend: 1500 points
Tower capture: 5000 points
Tower defend: 7000 points
Keep capture: 10k points
Keep defend: 15k points
Garrison capture: 25k points
Garrison defend: 30k points
SMC capture: 35k points
SMC defend: 40k points

This would encourage people to fight and take things, and if there’s no tick to wait for, it can’t be abused by someone telling their zerg to log out before it ticks. If you have a team fighting uphill against a force who runs double your number, you get rewarded for what you’re capable of taking by it scaling to be worth more and catch up your score. Also to avoid abuse, maybe the population across all borderlands and ebg are summed up. So the server can’t just send a havok group to one borderland and get a ridiculous amount of points for being outnumbered when all servers have the same number of players just in differing maps. I think if the scores were closer more people would play, more capture and defenses would happen, and more people would fight, not just zerg v zerg, but small roaming groups and soloers, too.

I think what they mean is on BG the guilds usually run tagless except reset nights, so each individual group is typically outnumbered because the other servers (TC and JQ) will all run together. We may have more people on the map, but it might be three groups of twenty, where the other server rolls with all forty together. Granted, last night we even had the outnumbered boon prime time NA on jqbl, which was crazy to see. Lasted about a half hour before numbers evened out again.

I don’t understand why they removed the Capricorn, but they won’t remove Skyhammer. Was stopping one profession’s underwater op abilities (ranger) more important than encouraging everyone to become pull/push/fear bots? I haven’t played spvp in a while because I got so sick of skyhammer. Remove it from soloq, and bring back the Capricorn, but in a dry dock setting if you really hate water. The map was cool. Skyhammer could be cool, if it wasn’t floating in the air between mesas. Get rid of breaking glass to insta death, and punting off the side to insta death, make it so you just drop to a lower level and have to run back up, even that would be a change for the better.

I had fun on the nights there were fights, because it’s what we prepared for and could learn from, especially me, learning how to staff ele in wvw. Good job all, I hope for more fun fights in the future. :-)
