Gaile, it was amazing to meet you at EGX. I had such a great time and enjoyed the small chat we had!
Thank you for the hug and selfie too! <3
It was great to meet you! Thanks for coming out for the event, and hope to see you again another time.
The effect bugs (like aegis are being addressed).
Hey, folks, can I ask for a check on this from others? I’d like to pass it along, but mrauls is the only one who mentioned it, so I’d like feedback from others, if you’d care to share it.
Thanks.
Hi Gaile, sorry we missed you yesterday at Rezzed. We were in the queue and then just as you started the trivia we started playing the demo (the three of us were right behind you). When our demo finished I looked for you, but you weren’t around. I stopped by the booth 4 or 5 more times before we left but never saw you again. I hope that yesterday’s networking problems didn’t eat up too much of your time. The demo was great!
I am sorry to have missed you!
But the important thing is that you tried and enjoyed the demo. Yaay!
Just got home from Rezzed (eating some beans on toast!).
Thanks for today, ArenaNet! I had a great time.
Special thanks to you, Gaile, for selecting me as one of the six to win a Charr plush. I’m glad I won it! Shame I wasn’t quick enough to get the toaster to win some dragon toast!
I didn’t get a chance to win a sparkly HoT t-shirt as the stronghold queue was too long (I was the guy who was 1 away from being able to play it!) but pass on the message to your brand manager that I’d be willing to pay for them if they happened to be available in the store hint.
All you guys at ArenaNet were welcoming and happy to answer questions/chat with us in the queue as we were waiting our turn. Really happy to have met you all at Rezzed, and I hope to see you guys in the future at some point.
We loved having you come along, and it was terrific to be able to give some excellent and hard-to-come-by Guild Wars 2 swag to our players. I was staggered by how well players did with the trivia! Enjoy Charrlie, now, and we’ll hope for more toasters next time!
Just got back from Rezzed today – what a weekend that was!
I can’t thank you enough for inviting [Eden] to the afterparty. It couldn’t have been a better place for us not only to meet the team, but each other as well! I must have spent at least 3 hours chatting to John Corpening about Stronghold and PvP, and I do not at all regret pouncing for the Charrlie that got thrown in to the crowd. We missed the trivia at the booth but I think we made up for it by winning our shiny t-shirts in the last PvP match of the day! We were super impressed with the WvW show as well and can’t wait to try it out for ourselves
Thank you again on behalf of all of us at the guild – it was a fantastic experience and we hope to see you guys again some time!
John is a wonderful guy; I am so happy to work with folks like him! (And quite honestly, he’s so helpful when I have a pesky question about competitive play. Always informative, helpful, and patient!)
Congrats on the plushie and the shirts — you guys did well.
And I hope to see you again really soon!!!
I was there, sadly I didn’t get any hugs because I was a little sick and didn’t want to get anyone else sick lol.
Also didn’t get a foil shirt either.
Aww Riku! I’m sorry you were not feeling well, but SO happy that you turned out for the event!
^You flew over to Rezzed? Wow! That’s some dedication!
Or you just happened to be there on business/family matters/vacation?
Sounds like fun, either way. =)
I will fly, drive, or walk anywhere to meet Giild Wars 2 players! It’s the best thing about having the best job in the world.
Just back from a walk to the other side of the building, and there are absolutely no issues with the download on our side. It’s a meaty download, to be sure, but I advise that you just sit tight and let it do its thing, or you could try again later in the day when traffic may be lower.
We’re sorry for the delays that some of you are having. I’ll pad down the hallway and see if there are any issue on our side, but I really believe this is just the normal “update = higher volume” situation.
Also, while we’re talking about the update, I’d like to point to a known issue in case you were concerned about a seeming change to your ability to make acquisitions using any character. Here’s that thread: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Vendor-List-Limit-Vigil-Priory-Whispers/4883401
Before you do fix it make a button to “only show stuff usable by your profession” like in the trading post. So it reduces clutter.
Interesting idea, Yumiko! I don’t know if there’s a plan for that sort of interface change, but as a player I can see where it would be useful.
Sorry for the unnecessary alarms, guys. We’ll get this taken care of so you can go about your business normally.
Now the vendors only sell the limited equipments that only the said class can use. I only have one mesmer character that’s in Vigil and now I can’t buy the Vigil Rifle skin anymore because of this change.
Kindly please switch it back, it does more damage than it fix.
What’s the idea behind this change anyway?
This is not intended. This is a bug, and we apologize for the confusion. The team is aware of this issue and will be correcting it as soon as possible.
You truly are not (supposed to be) required to use a specific profession to purchase items for that profession. Even if an item is not intended for use by a particular profession, you still can (or will be able to, once the fix goes through) purchase the item for use by another character/profession. For example, your Elementalist is welcome to purchase Engineer gear, although obviously the Ele cannot equip it.
(edited by Gaile Gray.6029)
Could you give us a screenshot, or more specific information on which boosts they are? We’re having difficulty repro-ing. Thanks!
Don’t know if it’s been asked or not, but I see the topic come up every so often.
What was the main reason for WvW gear being unsalvagable? What it for an economic reason? Or mechanical? As it is its fairly easy to get, so I could see having a large influx of ecto because of it. Also having to rebuy runes could be part of the reason. But otherwise it doesn’t make much sense. Instead of being able to salvage directly, what about being able to be forged?
A lot of different factors go into decisions like that one, but economic effects were part of the decision process for sure.
I would like to say thanks anet for the camera change, this look like a different game now and it’s so wonderful! You really did a great job!
All my love,
Icdeadcasuals
So glad you’re enjoying it!
If someone is having difficulty downloading, consider completely closing the GW2 window and logging back in. If you have part of the download you will not start over, but merely pick up where you left off. I find this is helpful, at times, in getting a download to complete on what is (as I’m sure you can imagine) a very busy day for the servers.
That’s a good idea; I’ll put it on my backlog.
I see they didn’t decide to go through with the removal of WvW from world completion. A pity.
Uh..
“WvW map completion is no longer a requirement for a character to achieve World Completion, and these maps no longer award map completion rewards.”
Thanks. I was just going to point that out.
. I think we’re good on this.
Alright. This is now a feedback thread! I’ll be updating the list as thoughts and ideas come in.
I am very disappointed they didn’t include restoration of greatest fear plotline and promised fixes and updates for personal story lv70 and lv80
Like personal story is not important and how stability is used and if www maps offer map completion is more important then personal story ???
Please read Bobby Stein’s recent posts on this subject. The changes were never planned for this build but they are very much on the to do list.
The servers are a bit overloaded at the moment. If you’re getting the error “Connection errors detected – retrying” upon opening the launcher, let it sit in the background for a few minutes and it should start patching. If you get this happening mid-patch, close the launcher and re-open it, then give it some time to connect. Things should normalize again relatively soon.
It’s live and we hope you like it!! I think you’ll enjoy the tasty morsels.
(edited by Gaile Gray.6029)
If we implement rate limiting we’ll announce it, until then have fun.
Is this still the case for the v2 API?
because i get the following message:
https://api.guildwars2.com/v2/items/12452?lang=en&_=1426522029742. No ‘Access-Control-Allow-Origin’ header is present on the requested resource. Origin ‘http://159.253.7.156’ is therefore not allowed access. The response had HTTP status code 404.
Looks fine to me:
Even our 404 sends a CORS header.

Speaking of which, has it been considered at all to give us a way to tick off showing the green star stuff at the top?
We have a feature called the Content Guide that allows you to customize what is shown in the upper right. You can disable Personal Story tracking from the General Options menu.
Since all the cool kids are doing it…
BTW, Trahearne has the aggro line “die by my blade!” before he gets Caladbolg (he said it in my sylvari C2 storyline the other day). Seems kind of weird when he’s wielding a staff.
That’s one of the lines we’ve rewritten.
Oh, I know.
I’m just saying it’s weird that it triggers when he isn’t using a blade. And that feels a bit off.
Would it be possible to use the old aggro/death/deaggro lines for before A Light in the Darkness, and the new ones (which feel more confident-filled) after? I think it’d match his personality evolution better, though few would notice the change I’m sure. Still, to those who do catch it – just like for those who catch all the other small awesome things (like Caudecus’ face being made out of the floating stones in his garden at the right angle) – would find it awesome for the attention to detail.
This is a good idea, and one that we considered during the initial review pass. It required extra design implementation to pull off (you have to create a whole new chatter package for the NPC and swap out some references in script, etc.). For now we’re just redoing his line to work regardless of what weapon he’s holding. In the future, though, it’s something to consider for when we’re updating how we handle NPC chatter. It would be great if characters were more self-aware of these kinds of things.
You all should be unstuck now.
As for the reporting abuse we’re not going to take action on an account for reporting someone we find to be innocent. The account in question did far more than that. Also, please do NOT encourage other players to join in and hit the report button based on “I saw them do it” because this will land a suspension in most cases.
There was a hacking player in the European servers 2 nights ago. I told the commanders to contact you if they see them again (noticed your signature).
No idea if they did, but the question is: Are you able to go teleport to european servers or it’s only a NA thing?
We work on EU as well. =)
Oh, but I usually don’t turn off my invis there because I know about 10 words of ES, 20 FR, and maybe 4 DE.
No Habla en Francais or… uhh.. German. Or uhh.. yeah. Le Pomme est Rouge.

Do GMs ever do their work while “offline”? I ask because last night I saw GM ProHeals go offline and about an hour later, after 9pm PDT, a flyhacking uplevel mesmer on FA that has been reported multiple times all week was seen flyhacking right in front of everyone in EB.
We’re offline most of the time. I was actually offline at that point though. I had just spent 3 hours following the siege issue in TC.
I think I’m also the only GM that is currently popping in as online or visible. I usually do this at the end of my WvW session to let people know I’m around and so I can get whispers and answer questions.
I know Michael already does this on a much smaller level. As shown in this thread, and the GM proheals thread, but something a bit more would go along way in the eyes of the players.
Oh does he? I’d love to see this as a quarterly blog feature. “This week in GM Proheal’s Tyria!”
I investigated this last night and the claims are false. I found the person that was placing siege and terminated that account.
Also, remember that false reporting can lead to a suspension or termination of your account.
Gus suspended the account. I believe it was for two weeks. They were caught placing irrelevant siege to block placement of legitimate siege. We also saw their placement of 50 or so siege as well as ‘stacking’ interact objects (plates of food, for example).
If they violate again the accounts held by them will be terminated.
Have a bowl of facts:
I was there for three hours, cleared that guild, found the real person who placed the siege, and yes; placed one suspension for abuse of the reporting system.
Yes he does. So there is already a precedence for such things, but something more to reassure players that these things are taken seriously and not tolerated. Which is one of the biggest complaints in WvW, that players are doing these things and it doesn’t seem that anything is being done.
I would totally suscribe to that blog!
Hmm… this could be fun.

First off, let me just say again that myself and others really appreciate the fact that you and other ANet staff are very actively policing WvW and communicating with us about it over the forums. You’re taking on extra work and voluntarily posting in this semi-toxic subforum, which isn’t always easy.
Second of all, just wanted to point out that TC folks that reported the guild in question weren’t doing so as an abuse of the report feature. They ported into TC garrison (which usually has 1650 – 1700 supply), saw that it only had <100 supply, saw a member of said guild physically take supply from a depot, and use said supply to build a 25th trebuchet while a few other members are hopping around the other 24 trebs built around the supply depot. Even if your in-game data cleared them, at least one of them was actively participating in this and got reported for it (maybe he’s the one that got caught, I don’t know).
Most TC players have just seen this way too often and are tired of it. I can see instances where abusing the report system should be punished, but having legit players just trying to play WvW normally and reporting what appears to be blatant siege griefing shouldn’t be one of them.
Off-topic: Go TC!
On-topic: I didn’t see them refresh any ‘illegal’ siege while I was following them but that doesn’t mean they didn’t when you saw it. I have some fancy new reporting being built by Shazbawt that will tell me more about what happened before I entered last night (~4pm Pacific).
As for the reporting abuse we’re not going to take action on an account for reporting someone we find to be innocent. The account in question did far more than that. Also, please do NOT encourage other players to join in and hit the report button based on “I saw them do it” because this will land a suspension in most cases.
And lastly; we are considering allowing video evidence to lead to account action. I will say that even if we don’t use it we always check on the accounts in question and I can assure you that the one video link I received last night is leading to two account terminations.
Again; we don’t like cheaters.
This is a nice gesture, but we’re seeing that it’s still not enough. Yesterday, in Tarnished Coast’s garrison, a small guild full of trolls drained all the supply with useless trebs and flame rams. They were mass reported as they stood around TAUNTING THE MAP OPENLY IN CHAT and building their trash.
No GMs showed up….
Until HOURS LATER, when it was all gone and none of the trolls were still around.
Then a GM showed up, saw nothing, and from what my servermates are telling me, they are being accused of false reporting.
Unbelievable.
Pay attention to the chat logs and the screenshots, please. And it’s obvious there are not enough people prepared to respond to these reports.
Have a bowl of facts:
I was there for three hours, cleared that guild, found the real person who placed the siege, and yes; placed one suspension for abuse of the reporting system.
The claims that the particular guild was laying siege is false. Apologies. It was someone else.

Hey all,
I’m in London at Rezzed this week, and so I’m not sure if this video was shared here in the forums. But I was so touched by it, I wanted to post a link:
Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
Of course Kiel was a bad choice, she didn’t do anything and isn’t doing anything. I ASK FOR A RECOUNT OF THE VOTES!
Btw, shouldn’t we tell Kiel that her workers needs tools to work? I’ve seen people hammering with their bare hands. It’s outrageous, this is slavery!
Seriously, Kiel needs to attend to this, it’s outrageous! More and better tools for all! You have to wonder in what third-rate tool shop in what remote location did a purchasing agent get the bright idea to pick up picks that swing vertically and strike on the side.
We citizens of LA are all for fiscal responsibility, but that’s just a silly bit of costs savings.
i don’t suppose that since the PC VAs are back recording, we could get a polish pass on some… err… lesser performances? *cough*nornfemale*cough* and fix the “hold the line” shout too, since the whole problem with it was one of the VAs read it as “hold this line”.
That won’t be part of this particular update. That stated, I want to review and update PC chatter for the expansion if there’s time. Some of those lines weren’t written particularly well, or they trigger too frequently, or the performance was off so I’d like to fix them.
BTW, Trahearne has the aggro line “die by my blade!” before he gets Caladbolg (he said it in my sylvari C2 storyline the other day). Seems kind of weird when he’s wielding a staff.
That’s one of the lines we’ve rewritten.

Hi everyone! Gameplan:
All login tickets should be done by this time tomorrow. Password resets, email changes, and authentication removal should all be looked at in 6 hours or less UNLESS you don’t provide enough information to prove ownership of the account (fill out your ticket forms thoroughly!).
Gameplay issues such as deleted items, missing skins, missed rewards are taking the full 72 hour SLA to respond to.
Appeals are also taking longer than normal but we’re getting to them. Again, give us as much info as you can to prove ownership to speed this up.
Guild Wars tickets will soon be handled with GW2 tickets – this will remove the issue of you guys having to wait weeks for help. Note: This will still only apply to game access as we do not support gameplay or bug issues for Guild Wars anymore.
Any news on this yet?
Those went in yesterday so barring any other excitement hopefully will be shipped next week.
We slipped on this release date (PAX and Rezzed are exciting); gonna try again next week.
ID is immutable, Name is not. There are situations where an account’s name will change, though they are rare.
Characters do not have an immutable identifier that we can expose
Would their profession fall under immutable (assuming it’s accessible)? If that could work, maybe doing something with the character’s creation date could mix with that to make some form of ID.
Account ID + character creation time would work
I’ll have to dig creation date up and throw it into the character blob — that should be in there regardless.
I’ve also been toying with the idea of exposing SHA1(character-guid ++ salt) as another alternative. Not sure how much I like that approach (has some minor issues on the backend w.r.t. resolution back to character-guid), but it seems like a somewhat reasonable workaround.
So, Mr. Stein. Any word on the progress of the personal story fix?
I’m working on the messaging and am working out some design issues on a few details. I should have more info to post before the end of the month. Thanks for your patience.
wait for the PS fix or you will miss a big part of the story.
This is good advice. While I don’t have a firm release date to share just yet, I do recommend that you wait until the Personal Story is restored (with minor improvements) before playing into chapter 6.
I’ll be making a post in the next couple of weeks that will give more details on what changes the update will include.
Edit: Also, thanks for playing. Looking forward to seeing the videos. Are you playing on NA or EU servers?
Do I understand this right: Do you refer to the story part depending on your “greatest fear”? Will these story missions (which are depending on the answer during “A Light in the Darkness” and originally taken a big portion in the part 7 of the personal story and are currently not accessable) be playable again in the near future?
Yes. We’re restoring the My Greatest Fear story steps, restoring chapter 8 to its original order, and improving a few things along the way. I’ll be making an official forum post with more details soon.
Call it red tape. Kiel is doing her darndest to devote spending to infrastructure, but the Captain’s Council keep talking in circles about defense spending and tax reform.
Yeah this is a case where my desire to give players a cool nod back to GW1 took precedence over giving that mirror a deep lore explanation. But thankfully, the location and the magics involved do a lot of the job of explaining itself – what we know is that the mirror is enchanted (but not by who or what – gotta keep our mysteries), and while the Divine Fire is magic that it still not fully understood (if only the Forgotten were around to explain it in more detail), it is clearly useful for unlocking arcana.
One can only imagine how many other such artifacts there might be just like this mirror in the secret collection rooms.
Maybe someday I’ll clone out the ritual encounters into a 6′×6′ room just to see what would happen. :-P
The issue is that the end of Liberation has a “read your mail” step but the mail is part of the L30 storyline, so it won’t get sent until you’re L30. I looked into removing that story step entirely, but it would cause players on that step to get rolled back on their storyline, so the fix didn’t seem any better than the root bug. Once you reach L30, you’ll get the mail, and once you read it, it will finish out the L20 storyline and start the L30 story.

There is no information regarding purchasing HoT with Gems in-game, one way or the other. There is information, however, regarding the Revenant. You absolutely will need to purchase the expansion to be able to create this new profession.
Good luck.
Actually, there is information about purchasing the game, as opposed to acquiring it for gems. (Emphasis added for clarity.)
Q: Is the expansion “buy to play”?
A: Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns is a paid expansion to Guild Wars 2, but once you buy it, there are no subscription fees. This means that you can continue playing and access future updates for Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns with no subscription fee.
Since gold can be acquired simply through playing the game, using in-game currency is not a form of payment in this context.
And yes, owning Heart of Thorns will be required in order to create a Revenant.
Let’s be clear:

“Paid” in this context means money, not gems.
I’ll be doing trivia two or three times a day at Rezzed. Look for me and you can win some pretty sweet prizes!!
We’re driving up from Brighton today and can’t wait to get to the show tomorrow morning!
Immediate deployment or even pre-deployment is fine with me. Mind you the problem is that ANet doesn’t want people being able to deploy just by jumping, or running over a low hill. The fall mechanic seems to have been in place because ANet only wanted it to be deployed in certain conditions. The issue with instant deployment is that programmatically how the game know the difference between falling off a high cliff or falling off a small hill?
If I understand the suggestion, I was thinking the same thing as CureForLiving here. I do a lot of jumping, up and down, and I’d not want my glider to deploy and wing me off into the air when I was trying to do a vista that required a nearly straight downward jump.
I’ve played the demo (obviously
) and I feel the deployment mechanic is really smooth. Your mileage may vary, of course, so we’ll welcome input during the beta tests.
This is so marvelous, Nefara! Thank you very much for the time you’ve taken to help other players. I look forward to hearing even more wonderful music throughout Tyria. <3
