I’ve been unable to log in since patch as well. Took a break from the game since the servers were down and keep getting connection errors.

Everything worked fine before.

Weirdly enough, when I try to log on to my character which was last in the new zone, I get a Rata Sum loading screen.

EDIT: Seems that I was able to keep swapping characters until I found one in Lion’s Arch. Then all worked just fine.

It doesn’t seem like that bad of an idea, but the costs are too low. Getting crafting from 400 → 500 is supposedly 119g. Then we have various materials to make the ascended item totaling 46g. That’s only 150g for an item that currently sells for 300-500g on the tradepost.

However, I feel like there should be something much more. As part of making a legendary, you already have to level two crafts to 400. Leveling one of them to 500 and spending the prerequisite amount doesn’t seem too different.

With the introduction of outfits, I’d imagine the Anise armor becoming available for player use. This way, Anet doesn’t have to dabble in cutting up the armor in specific places in an effort to make it fit better with preexisting armors without clipping.

Now they just have to focus on what males, Charr, and Asura look like.

Also, I wonder if outfits will ever be constrained to armor class.

Over on SoR main, we killed Red and Green the first time the watchknights spawned, and their pools appeared. Failed on Blue. Red and Green pools appeared.

The second time the event happened, We killed all three, but only Blue pools appeared. No other pools appeared.

Third time, all watchknights downed again, no pools.

It seems that if a pool appears once on a server, it’ll never appear again. Additionally, Watchknights seem to have loot dropping bugs.

It’s three months in advance and too mild to be an april fool’s joke. It’s too close to reality to immediately be recognized as a joke.

All Anet’s april fool’s jokes have been absurd in some sort of lovably flavor-breaking way. They did time-travel, they did helicopters, they did modern assault rifles, they did retro video games. They’ve never pulled off a stunt that would intentionally kitten off the majority of the population.

They compared Tribulation Mode to games like “I Wanna Be The Guy” and such there lives are meaningless and you’re expected to die a lot:

Another commonality among games in the genre (which I’m not aware of having a name yet… let me know if you’ve heard of one) is that lives are extremely cheap, and you blow through them. Lives are like HP in an RPG or ammo in an FPS. You go in EXPECTING to lose a LOT. If you interpret losing a life as “failure” then you will have a miserable time. It would be like feeling like you “fail” when you take damage in a turn based role playing game. Instead, if you see every death as another learning experience, you’ll have a much better time. Kind of like the way your armor rating increases when you take damage in Skyrim. So part of preparing for a TM run, you’ll be ‘leveling up’ your ‘life meter’ by collecting as many lives and Continue Coins as you can.

So your goal is to buy an Infinite Continue Coin in order to play the game the way it was intended.

in Super Adventure Box: Back to School

Absolutionis.9427

They’re not really silly mistakes when World 2 is littered in dozens of instant-deaths. It’s trial-and-error.

Just drop gems on the Infinite Continue Coin if you enjoy the content and don’t recommend SAB to your friends. The continue coin makes the experience much less stressful and casual when lives are meaningless and you can overcome any challenge through throwing enough lives at it.

So who is taking a break and skipping SAB?

Everyone that said they enjoyed Tibulation mode so far, when you look into it, you see they have the infinite coin.

I won’t lie, it was very well done ANet, it’s really game design made specifically to enhance your micro transaction sales. Or at least it looks like it.

I actually have to agree. When I bought the gemstore item that lives completely meaningless, I was better able to appreciate the constant goofy deaths and the mistakes I made.

Continue coins are for the weak. Also, I’m pretty sure was promised I wouldn’t have to grind to enjoy the game somewhere.

It’s not grinding when you pay gems for an item that makes lives meaningless.

Dying in SAB sets me to 1 life?

in Super Adventure Box: Back to School

Posted by: Absolutionis.9427

Absolutionis.9427

The reason we did the 1 life thing is because we found that lives were not meaningful if you can just pop back in, catch up with your party or die once and catch up with them. Now they are. We also added Continue Coins in each Zone chest, and they are in JP chests as well. And you can buy 5 of them for one Bauble Bubble.

Why did you remove the bubble baubles from the end chest and replace them with the coins instead, then? I think people would rather have the five coins then just one, or the bauble instead of a coin.

You’re supposed to buy the Infinite Continue Coin.

They reduced the number of lives you get for free, they added much more instant-deaths, they reduced the number of baubles you can get by far.

Once you buy the coin, lives become more trivial than they have always been and you can save your baubles for something other than extra lives.

Just buy the Infinite Coin if you enjoy the content and don’t recommend the game to anyone that has a marginal interest.

They’ve had different ways of obtaining each ascended item so far.

Backpacks from Mystic Forge.
Rings are from Fractals of the Mists.
Accessories from Guild Commendations.
Amulets from Laurels.
Weapons from Crafting.

Armor, being SIX pieces, will likely have a variety of ways. Likely, we’ll get one or two pieces at a time through some method. Perhaps dungeon runs or world bosses?

Tribulation mode should not consume lives

Absolutionis.9427

I think this is breaking grounds in a bad way….but I bought it…I’m sorry….

No need to be apologetic, I complained about it myself and bought it as well. I just won’t be recommending any of my friends to try any of it.

When SAB first came out, I told everyone I knew as if it was the second coming. It was awesome.

With this new SAB requiring the Infinite Coin in order to be “fun”, it’s not anything to tell people to try. It’s niche appeal, and I’m that niche. I doubt anyone I know would care to even try.

A hard game should be something that is difficult to do, but there is room to learn how to overcome it. If we are expected to die a lot, we should be given the opportunity to continue without strict penalties such as spending real money for a “cheat” (infinite continue coin).

It’s essentially paying gems for infinite lives. It’s not “fun” until you pay gems, and when you do, much of the content becomes rather easy.

They mentioned that the purpose of all the nerfs was to not “cheapen” the value of lives. Then they cheapen it worse than it ever was.

But you said:

Another commonality among games in the genre (which I’m not aware of having a name yet… let me know if you’ve heard of one) is that lives are extremely cheap, and you blow through them. So part of preparing for a TM run, you’ll be ‘leveling up’ your ‘life meter’ by collecting as many lives and Continue Coins as you can.

Our analogue to HP doesn’t refill after closing the game and starting over.

Originally, continue coins allowed us to “continue” our progress. Now, continue coins are analogous to HP refill potions with the gem store selling us an “unlimited life” item.

One of the big reasons that “I Wanna Be The Guy” and “Super Meat Boy” and other similar games are fun and popular is that you’re expected to fail over and over, but the time of return is nearly instantaneous. If you fail, you laugh it off and try something new. Limiting us with a consumable item (and selling us unlimited life in the gemstore) makes failure an outright failure.

The reason we did the 1 life thing is because we found that lives were not meaningful if you can just pop back in, catch up with your party or die once and catch up with them. Now they are.

This whole exploit was eliminated in Tribulation Mode by not allowing party members to join their party once they outright die.

Additionally, you can still do just that in normal mode except you’re back with five lives.

You can still hop in back at the checkpoint if you’re with a group. This time you’re at 1 life instead of 5, but that makes little difference.

For people that want to solo it or get a fresh reset, it’s punishing.

It’s a confirmed feature to get us to buy the unlimited coin:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Super-Adventure-Box-No-Continue-1-Life/first#post2763872

If you get a game over and return to the hub and attempt to immediately re-enter a world, you will have 1 life.

If you have a continue coin and use it when you get a game over or buy one from Moto when you get a game over, you will receive the 5 lives you are expecting.

TLDR: Get continue coins and use them for your five life bundles.

Also if you have 5 or 10 continue coins when you get a game over, you can use them in bulk for 25 or 50 lives
