Here is vid of what it does for me.
Its almost like the pet is loading in still for a few seconds until it actually loads in and then goes for the attack. If you look closely you will see the pet staying still until it loads in, then u will see the breathing animation on it when its ready.

While watching video of firebrand I noticed that on the UI it has these 5 diamonds after the F1-F3 abilities.

Anyone know if those are just cosmetic or if they mean anything?
If I had to guess I’d say it’s probably tied to # of pages left on your time…

Hello folks, I’mcurrently looking for a raid group to party/raid with. I am more or less a PvX player with a focus on pvp/wvw. I generally found pve to be easy and not challenging in any way. When raids were initially released I was excited for it but the guild I was at the time struggled finding dedicated members to run a successful raid.

I have played many mmo’s before gw2 ankitten o stranger to raids/dungeon parties. Also I played in a hardcore wvw grp in the past which I enjoyed a lot.

I am looking for a group/guild that is willing to have dedicated people running raids on certain nights. A group that is willing to work together and train people if needed, and give direction to less experienced people in raids ( such as myself).

I am able to dedicate play time on tuesdays/thursdays/weekends and generally play around NA prime time. Home server is FA. I have well geared guardian/warrior/ranger/elementslist. I would prefer to stay with either the warrior or guardian, but am willing to fill empty slots if needed.

Help me love my ranger?

I just came back to the game after a near year break….and i came back to my ranger right away.

I enjoy being the underdog and underestimated by people. In WvW when people used to go " Ranger over there- free lootbag" would make it so much sweeter when you win.

The appearance of the animations is very nice, a very agile fighter moving around. The survival animations, sword, gs, offhand axe, dagger are all very nice. Gs is my fav skillset by far and opens the ranger for a unique counter play like strategy.

I dont mind the pets now, nor did i a year ago. They are much better now than they were a few years ago… much more responsive. I dont really see much of an issue with them anymore. Could they be better? Of course.

When youre out in the world just adventuring and exploring by yourself it doesnt feel as lonely ( for lack of a better term) since you have your trusty sidekick with you.

Overall the class resonates with me very well and just kind of feels right when i play it. Its not a class for everyone, might just not be for you.

Hello folks, its been almost a year since i took a break from gw2, and after now finally finishing college im ready to get back into things. The timing seems appropriate as well since theres new LS. With that being said… i was hoping someone would be willing to explain the “wellbeing” (for a lack of a better word ) of certain classes atm, as its possible much could have changed.
I quit right around when raids started.

How are the Ele, War, Rev and Ranger in pve/wvw/raids/pvp.

What if they killed Eir to have her be the next Elite Specialization Legend for Revenants? We could use the longbow

You’re not too far off on that basis.
Eir’s death is the official birth of the Dragon Hunter (lore wise).
Her son a well known Guardian picks up his mother’s bow and uses the death as a means and motivation to hunt the Elder Dragons.

Eir was my favorite of Destiny Edge, my only question is… What happened to Garm?

Non stop crashing since the update [Merged]

I have been crashing non stop after the patch yesterday as well. I’ve heard guildies and other people having crashing problems with patches in the past but hasnt happened to me until now.

Kind of irritated about it ATM as the last crash was at the end of “the Jungle Provides” when i was trying to get the “Totem of the Itzel” achievement. Handed in 3/5 and as i was carrying the 4th one in, it happened :/

Mine is sylvari but i had a hard time picking between a few. Lore wise there are 3 top choices….
Sylvari- Due to ties to Ventari and generally being open/curious about everything.

Norn- Spiritual in nature they are more likely to venture into the mists to obtain revenant powers. Also some may already have experience with the mists/spirit world.

Charr- Symply for Rythlock being the first one. They are also a race that would be willing to take extreme measures and unorthodox means as long as they win the fight/war in the end.

If lore doesnt mean abything to you go off of armor/ skill animations.

What I would find interesting is would a healing spec rev would viable. You could easily run a power build with full zerker gear and get 100% boon duration with food/runes.

I see it as one of those cases where it would take a lot of work to get minimal results. I believe ele and druid are much more efficient at it.

Well, first of all you get 65% boon duration already between Facet of Nature and a minor trait in Herald. Second, boon duration is capped at 100%. So at most you can use another 35% before hitting the cap. At the very least you can switch to zerker accessories, different food, and runes, and still be just above the cap with command weapon’s and armor.

Valud point guess i got too excited about the stat being back and forgot about cap.

With the way glint works i pictured the herald to be a perfect offensive support class for dungeons and upcoming raids. The release of quad stats and the return of boon duration made me want to make an offensive support class for dungeons/fractals/ raids.

The goal was to make a class that supports your team via boons but is still able to do decent dmg. I figured leave the healing to druids/eles.

The new commander stats along with herald’s f2 ability make it really easy to pit out a ton of boons. To be honest i might have gone too far into that as atm on paper it shows me being able to keep 25 stacks of might by just channeling a facet.

I picked herald for the obvious reasons… I also picked ironhammer for tankyness and the sustain you get from elite (50 % damage reduction va burst dps)

This is all in paper atm as i havent played the game sonce release enough to aquire all that gear yet. Let me know what you think and ideas on how to improve.

Well, maybe Garm will be some sort of possible plot device to bring Eir back maybe if he’s alive?

I think Eir’s death as an character was too premature, even though she is in an novel before the game, the story and dungeon instances that she has been in aren’t enough imo to conclude her part in the story overall. I was not moved by her death as I was by for example Master Togo’s death. We got to spend an good amount of time with Togo in factions well enough for him to grow on us, by the time Shiro killed him his death and significance as a character was strongly felt, at least to me. Eir’s death wasn’t even more of an significance than even Roric’s death combined with when he had to be fought on the Rings of Fire in prophecies, feels like an huge waste.

Norn characters had a LOT more interaction with her than other races.

Being a Norn in the Vigil and having both of your mentors killed, heart breaking…. i mean “We will sing in the name of their glory” or something like that

So… as heartbroken as I am about my favorite Destiny’s Edge character’s demise in HoT, Eir Stegalkin in the Prisoners of the Dragon mission i started thinking…

I noticed that Garm was not in the prison with her and made me wonder as to what exactly happened with him?

Does anyone know if he survived the crash ? If he did is he somewhere in the world? Or is it all kinda unknown assumed that he didnt make it?

Couple of ideas that i had…

IF… Garm survived the crash per say, he learns about his master’s death… if you make him a special tamable pet for Rangers.

IF… on the other hand he DID NOT survive the crash/Mordremoth i got an amazing idea for a legendary longbow. Would basically involve gathering Eir’s Equipment (longbow/armor etc) and combining it with Garm’s remains and making an awesome longbow out of it, later on combining Garm’s spirit into the weapon (basically very similar to what you do with the raven staff).

What are your opinions on the ideas?

In terms of long range eles are all about throwing down massive aoe spells and most if not all are/will be ground target its just something u will have to get used to. Once the action camera goes live it should make aoes a LOT easier to throw down. If you dont wanna deal with it alltogether than go with d/d but thats not long range at all

I’ve decided on making my Revenant in a few days a Sylvari but as someone that has never seriously played a sylvari wanted to know if there is any relevance lore wise to sylvari skin colors and the Cycles that they were born in. Or is the cycle mainly for personality of character (from a Lore/RP perspective)?

I like the idea, but maybe restrict it to gen 2 legendaries+, otherwise you’re going to get a load of people who have made 2 gen 1 ones feeling cheated

Not sure if this has been suggested before but here we go…

Instead of having this mess of having to create new “Blank” Legendary Weapons for people to use and have them be able to apply skins, to me that sounds like a giant complicated mess that can be easily solved. (listen to last podcast if not sure what im talking about). This would also resolve the complication of wanting to dual wield the same legendary weapon and not having the capability of switching stats on the exotic/ascended version that just has the skin on it.

Basically…

Make the Legendary a Account Wide unlock that you can claim the same way we are able to claim Zenith weapon skins. Make it so that when you account-bind a legendary weapon it gets unlocked in the Achievement tab and any character can claim/withdraw as many copies of that weapon as they want. Make it so that the item cant be salvaged and is sold for 0, or that when you salvage it you only get your sigils back out of it.

I see it as a much simpler and more convenient fix for something that devs are going the long way about….

I can see concerns that people/devs would have where it would make an effect on the economy of the game where certain items would no longer be as wanted in the marketplace due to everyone owning said legendary.

Making the legendary weapons is no easy journey and is something that will take time and lots of hard work, why not reward players and let them use that weapon (and armor/ back piece) on all characters without going through the hassle of having to make a new set of ascended/exotic weapons/armor to match the stats and then transmuting skins back and forth.

Was that a dev specific feature or will we be able to equip that in HoT?

Taking Grind to a whole new Level

I believe that all games require a certain amount of grind. What comes with grind is prestige and actual sense of accomplishment when you achieve your goals. If someone just hands you amazing rewards you wouldn’t think much of them, but if you spent 3 months working really hard towards it, once you finally get that weapon/item you would be ecstatic .

Without difficulty there is no real reward.

Even with the new legendary system (and the old one) i wouldn’t call it a real sense of grind. Myself along with dozens of players that have played some of the older games are more than happy to show you exactly what real grind was like back in the day, but i dont really think theres a need to go into that.

It’s not required of you to have a legendary in the game in order to experience the game. As such, if you as a player decides to finally take the journey and make one, the reward SHOULD be long and difficult to obtain. Once you finally complete your legendary the reward of going through that is much more fulfilling than if its handed to you on a silver platter.

Not everyone should own a legendary, if its a common item its not really that legendary :P

Think of the old PvP Ranks, back before the change if you fought a Shark or the Few Phoenix ranks you knew you were against someone that spent HUNDREDS of hours playing and trying to get the rank. Nowadays everyone and their grandmother has a Dragon rank finisher, and it doesnt mean squat.

In the short little time i played the story (got as far as where Rytlock showed up), i made a sylvari revenant for the hell of it… and noticed NPCs acting towards the character as if they dont trust you because you’re a sylvari. Was a very faint and short part of it where you’re at the camp but enough to notice.

I remember a few months back (has it been over a year maybe? idk?) when we had the CDI for rangers, someone suggested that pets be placed as something similar to what Facets are for Revenants, but for different pet types. The devs seemed really interested in it to the point where they made a completely different CDI for it.
Look at what a druid typically is i can see that happening…

Im not much for following meta builds, i see them as a way to get an idea on a specific way to play a class and then tweak it and fine-tune it to fit your play style.

My PvP Build:

This build focuses on giving you a lot of survival through high defense and the survival ability of the GS. Unlike the meta i use my GS as my Main weapon and LB as secondary.

With these traits/amulet you get pretty good damage as well since every time u get fury remorseless gives you a opening strike which in turn causes you to crit 100% of the time, no need for precision .

For 2nd slot of sigils on either it depends on who you’re up against, Doom, Leeching, Hydromancy are all good.

Also often i tend to use GS and S/A or S/D

Tip wise, not sure if anyone posted or if you are aware.
When you get downed you can still use pet abilities (swap pets, pet active, etc). So sometimes its nice to be able to swap to your wolf or w/e and fear them while you get up, its saved me countless times

I’ll probably play revenant for a little bit, I tend to change nub"main" every few months or so, but always come back to ranger or ele eventually.

My hopes/expectations were non existant for Druid as much as I hate to admit it… But seeing the scrapper for engi and knowing that the same guy is working on Druid re-kindled my hopes just a little bit. A small flame still burns my friends!

Let me preface this by stating Im not concerned with what is Meta, and instead, just in what is “fun” and viable.

So im a returning player, came back for HoT and am getting some more characters up to 80 to prepare for the launch. I haven’t decided which class I’ll play yet as my main, and will probably play multiple for a short time after launch until I get a feel for each.

I mainly play PvE doing world events, WvWvW, and just screw around and try to have “fun”

In other MMOs, I typically play the “hybrid” type classes (Bard, Ranger, Monk, etc.) These classes typically are DPS focused with some other unique utilities. I also often play the Druid class, and even RP’d my early GW2 Ele as a druid.

So naturally, Im looking at Ranger, Guardian, and Warrior. These three classes have the “flavor” im looking for from a RP’ing perspective, but now its time to decide which is the best fit. I’d like to stick with Ranger as my main, but it currently seems like the worst choice. Even ignoring all the Meta talk, it just doesn’t “feel” right.

Questions
1)What (if anything) can the ranger do better than the other two?
After playing Ranger up to 80, and starting to level my guardian, it seems like guardian is all around better. Granted, this is just for PvE leveling, but my guardian has great burst damage, both single target, and AoE. She has decent mobility (on par with the ranger) plus the class utilities synergize well with various builds and add to survivability.

The only advantage I can see to the ranger is that having the pet and a longbow, you can avoid damage all together most of the time. This is ok in PvE in most situations, but isn’t going to do much in PvP.

This is my biggest gripe with the Ranger. Since we have the pet, our personal DPS must be reduced. Controlling the pet is clunky, and if you want them to survive, you basically MUST spec into beastmastery.

2)What is a “fun” Ranger build that involves a bow?
For me, Ranger MUST use a bow. This is more important than the pet even. In other MMOs, typically, the bow is what makes the Ranger, and the pet is sometimes an option or specialization that can be taken.

But in GW2, its sort of backwards. The focus is put on the pet, and the bow is just another weapon. And to me, longbow is sort of boring. I was thinking something combining LB and traps could be fun, but then I see they changed the trap mechanics.

Anyone else thinking along the same lines as me. I WANT to stay with Ranger/Druid, but Dragonhunter seems like it might be better and more fun. I guess that will depend on what Druid has to offer.

The biggest misconception that I see people having is believing the class has to use a Lb just because it resembles the archetype of a archer. I personally rarely use the LB and prefer a melee ranger with gs/s+x. It tends to be a lot more fun and is a much more active style of gameplay. Lots of dodging/evading blocking and counter attacking.
The LB is ok but there’s much more to a ranger in gw2 than being an archer.

I wouldn’t say the ranger is better at anything than the other 2 but I like the animations of the abilities a LOT more than the ones of the war/guard.

Since you mentioned rp one thing ranger could bringer the table is, unique ways to role play by incorporating the pet instead of just you yourself.

Can’t go wrong with human. Most at its look good on humans and the t3 racial armor is nice. All ele elites are pretty bad and humans get avatar of Grenth which is a nice substitute.

Facet of Nature Missing

This is in regards to Facet of Nature disappearing.

It seems to work just fine in the Heart of the Mists but in PVE and WvW it seems to disappear from the UI. Also pressing F2 doesnt appear to do anything when its hidden.

Revenant PVP Feedback/Tips/Solutions

The Bad

One of the things I have found is that as cool as some of the abilities are there is no synergy with Runes/Sigils. A big part of the Specialization change was making sure that all abilities fit in a certain category. Most if not all the abilities could be categorized into a certain group of abilities.

Examples Being:
-Jade Winds-Shout
-Riposting Shadows- Trick
-Impossible odds- Stance
-Unyielding Anguish- Well
-Legendary Demon- Stance

This way if we have certain runes or sigils that might affect that category we wouldn’t be left out (IE: Rune of the Trooper on Jade Winds).

The Revenant seems to lack the ability to defend itself. Outside of flat stats from the Amulet there really isn’t much that goes for defense. The main form of defense that I see the Revenant having is Demonic Defiance in Corruption, which makes us a strong contender against the condi builds atm. But against flat/spike damage we come short.
I’m hoping that Glint once revealed brings some to the table, especially with the last weapon being a shield.

Still being hopeful!

On to the next topic. Shiro’s Heal! I know there has been talk and I believe it has been confirmed by the devs that it would bet buffed in the coming patches (not 100% sure). The main gripe I have with the heal itself is not really the heal itself but the fact that it does not work with Unrelenting Assault. The Heal only procs twice when using Unrelenting Assault , and im not sure if this was a bug or an intended effect. But since the skill hits 7 times, it should cause all 6 of the skills daggers to go off. This in turn would also boost the DPS of the skill itself, to the point where it would actually be useful.

The main Issue I have with the way the Revenant is being designed is the low amount of customization options, and I know this has been brought up before but I will bring it up here as well, and this may just be a flaw of the design. Every other class in the game gets to pick 3 out of 20 (23 if you Count elite specs) utilities. They can mix and match them however they want. As a Revenant atm we get 12 utilities and they are all locked into w/e Spirit we are attuned to.

One Fix I have for this issue and to add a little bit of customization is to introduce “Neutral” Utilities. A set of utilities that we can pick and choose regardless of what Stance we are in. And it doesn’t have to be 20 new utilities either, just 5-10 neutral ones, too let us customize the class even a little bit.Right now most revenants are somewhat a copy of each other. If im using Shiro/ Mallyx I am more than likely going to be using Devastation and Corruption, and the traits that we use are more than likely going to be very similar as well.

First I want to apologize to the moderators of the forums as this will probably be another post they will merge with all the other review/idea posts that thousands of players will post in the next few days.

My experience with the Revenant comes from playing PVP mostly this weekend. I have also played the revenant the last time they allowed us. Most of everything that I talk about here will be PVP related as I don’t do PVE much anymore (At least not until the expansion, and I did not want to spoil it for myself).

I will below outline what I feel is the good and the bad of the class, what could use some work and possible ideas on how to solve certain issues.

The Good
-Lore from GW1
-Flashy Fun Skills/Animations
-Unorthodox way to use certain weapons( Staff/Hammer)

The Bad
-No Synergy with Runes/Sigils
-Defense
-Shiro Heal/ Unrelenting Assault
-Customization Options

The Good

As someone who greatly enjoys lore from the Guild Wars universe, thank you Devs for making a class that attunes to different spirits/kittenes from GW1. Taking some of the most iconic characters/enemies from the original game and placing it in here was a huge gift to us Lore happy players.

The overall animations of most weapons/skills are great. The Revenant has by far some of the MOST FLASHY skills in the game as of right now. But its not just the particle effects, the basic Animations of the character are well choreographed and fluid. I have made a revenant on all the races (except for Sylvari- Figured they would use same animations on Sylvari as human), and haven’t really found any major quirks with them. The only major one I did not enjoy was the 3rd hit in the sword AA on the Human Male. The last hit seemed kind of clunky and not like a real slash would be. But I have found that it looks MUCH better on the Charr. (I know I’m picky)
The Revenant uses the hammer and Staff in ways that most players haven’t thought of in the game. Also, most people that I know (myself included) were super pumped up when they heard that the Revenant would be using the staff in a melee style (like a KungkittenBo staff). Not only that but Surge of the Mists is one of the coolest looking skills in the game. So, way to go on that part!

Q1: What is the design concept behind the Revenant?
Q2: How is he supposed to survive in a pvp match?
Q3: How is he supposed to survive in a pvp match as a Bersi or Marauder?

Every profession has a different approach.
Medi-Guardian: Healing with Meditations, Blinds, Blocks and Invulnerability.
Shatter-Mesmer: PU, Teleport, Invulnerability, Blind.
Ele: A lot of healing, high regeneration and protection uptime.
Thief: Dodge, Stealth, Blinds.

and so on… well, I hope you get the idea.

Now back to the Revenant:
He has some healing traits and two heals. Is he supposed to survive through healing himself but the numbers are currently not balanced?

Maybe you can give me some insight how you managed (or failed) to survive.

I’ve spent the weekend messing around in pvp with the revenant. I ended up settling with a Celestial build using shiro and Mallyx. Mace/Sword and Sword/Axe setups. I’ve found the ability to survive wasn’t that bad. As Mallyx u can very easily put resistance on yourself which, and with Mallyx elite you pretty much throw condo builds back in their face.
I don’t really like shiro heal. I’ve found myself having to pop my heal at the start of a fight like you would as a ranger with TU. Sword 3 does not proc the heal per tick. So when you use the heal don’t use sword 3 as you won’t get healed at all. ( I believe once or twice).

Although revenant does need balancing/ tweaking I feel as they are much better off this time around compared to the last time they let us play him!

The idea of being able to throw traps is kind of a wonky one. They’re more of a grande kit at that point. Traps are back they were originally and they’re actually pretty strong atm. You just have to pre plan your fight.

Spirits act now more closely to what they did in the original game, as more of an area control/ area denial. I don’t do much pve nowadays so can’t comment on how effective they are.

Since you prefer lb and axe I would say stick to marksman and bm tree for the traits that affect them
