I had a chance to try out the system last night as well. I liked the layout and how precise the timer was. Thank you Shaman( forgot his full name) for creating this for us!
Thief Steal
- Steal from the enemy! Use F1 to shadowstep to a foe and steal one of their skills. Your steal skill F1 will change based on what was stolen.
Was messing around a bit with the builder.
What do you guys think?
Alternatives/Thoughts
- Wasnt sure what to put on staff as sigils.
- Can swap out Superior Aria for Wrathful Spirit
- Can drop 10 points in honor and put into Virtues for Master of Concentrations
Oh forgot to say, intention of the build is for more WvW Zerg fights.

You should be able to buy Banded armor in the TP
It depends on the level of your characters and the level of the event. You should receive about 7% of experience needed to level when completing an event. So 7 % may be 530 for you but if your friend is higher level it may be 780 for him.
That is a great idea, and a good way to teach people interested in spvp how to do it properly. I wont be attending but you have my +1.
Also would be cool if you streamed it for people to watch at a later time in case the time is not good for them.
What are your opinions on Communal Defenses?
Is it worth taking over Altruistic healing?
How does it work exactly? Does it proc every time you block in general?
Does it work with aegis or only with skills like focus 5? or Mace 3.Just how AH goes well with hammer, CM goes well with mace.
Here are a few points that many people fail to mention because they have failed to experiment with it:
- It doesn’t have a target cap, so when you proc aegis the entire zerg receives it.
- It can proc pure of heart on everyone
- It can proc shattered aegis on everyone
- It can proc wrathful spirit on everyone
My opinion on the trait is that its very good, it goes much better with the mace due to skill #3. The skill has a 20 sec internal cooldown and yes it works with focus #5 or any block you do. That includes, shelter, virtue of courage, valorous defense etc.
Awesome,
Thanks for the info.

I crafted a Quiver of a Thousand Arrows a while back. It cost me about 100 gold ( its about 120 now).
Best part is you can chose what set of stats you want it to be.
In my case it was for my ele and i chose celestial.
Sorry if that has been brought up before, but it appears the Attack stat is missing from the Hero Pannel. Has anything been confirmed if this is a bug? or was it intended?
I’ve been trying out Strength and Accuracy with Runes of Strength.
Works out fairly well, but i do miss the Fire or Air extra damage so i may swap out Accuracy for one of the 2.
Not sure what happened with the items themselves, but you can buy items with the skin from the TP if thats what you’re looking for.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Aureate_weapons
The outfit slot is for costumes only ( Executioner’s Outfit being sold in gemstore atm as an example) the tonics are used as any other tonic would. The outfits can be toggled on/off the same way you toggle the helmet/shoulders/gloves on a piece of armor, so you can swap back and forth at will. Tonics do not become outfits.
I cannot find on the wiki what exactly scales the healing, but it IS the Finisher and not the Field.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Water_field
1,320 + 20% of finisher’s healing powerInteresting…..my browser shows 1320 (0.2)…. in the Note field (no mention of Healing Power). If I edit the wiki article I see it mentions HEALING but does not show up in the displayed table.
The table has a little ? above the (.2) if you hover your mouse over it, it shows the full equation which is 1320 + (0.20*Healing Power)
Something similar happened to me the other day, we were in a tournament match and just about to win it ( 450+ points) in the Forest map when all of a sudden we all got placed into a loading screen. When the loading screen ended the match has reset and we were up against the same team as if it was a brand new match.
You can get the ones you unlocked under the Achievement tab of your Hero Panel.
The ones you did not unlock you will get a chance to chose again at a higher Achievement #.
The hats were all transformed into helmets, not costumes so check your locker and you should have them unlocked.
Only the entire costume sets were turned into costumes ( Ex: Pirate Captain Outfit)
Otherwise if you want a refund for the costumes you can open a support ticket.
Accuracy Wouldn’t hurt. Sigil of night is situational but if you have a spare weapon that you can swap out to use for night only you could do
Sigil of Force and Night on same 2h weapon. =15% damage boost @ night
Then have a daytime set as well and use something like Force/ Accuracy or Force/Fire or Force/Air
I agree it feels that eles are better off now. Not entirely sure exactly what was changed to make us better. I haven’t had a chance to play ele in spvp too much other than a s/d Burst build but even with the crit damage nerf Im still able to burst down most people, but I feel as though im somewhat able to survive a bit more damage. I don’t die if people even look at my general direction like I used to prior to patch with this build.
IDK is it maybe an influx of bad players/newbies were up against or people being disoriented with the changes and trying new things out?
Also
To get the Ranger Pet Swap hint, you are required to let your pet die and not swap it. After a few seconds the hint will appear.
Even though you have tamed a lot of pets make sure you have done all of the following.
Ranger Pet Charm
- Approach any juvenile creature and press F to charm them.
Also:

Ranger Pet Controls
- Order your pet to heel, use special abilities, and attack your target by using the pet controls F2.
Ranger Pet Panel
- Open your Pet Management panel to equip different pets, rename them, and view their statistics.
Ranger Pet Swap
- Call in a new pet F4, and your current pet will be healed and ready for action.

Hey I know this is a minor bug compared to some of the others, I’ve noticed that the campfire in Heart of the Mists was moved to where the Mystic forge used to be. The new campfire location does not burn your character if you stand in it. But if you stand in the old spot where it used to be you still get the burn damage/ lava status even though nothing is there.
Its OK
I actually like Whirling Defense. I wish you could move while using it , would be a much better skill. I don’t use it as there are better alternatives I feel for an offhand, but it’s a fun skill.
I remember in WvW a few months ago the guild I used to be in was holding a choke point in Danelon’s Passage while trebbing Langor gulch. We had a good standoff for about 20-30 min with the other server. I just happened to be on my ranger at the time and swapped my axe to my offhand and would go stand near the entrance of that choke and watch all the reflected arrows and fireballs fly back in their face.
Was good fun, other than that I didn’t find much use out of it.
For a Runic blade you needed a phoenix token if im not mistaken ,which means you had to be rank 70+ in order to make one.
I made mine in pve as well and its my favorite weapon atm, i dont regret spending a penny. In fact i was considering making a 2nd one but then this patch came out.
Disadvantages:
-No free cake
Deal braker for me sorry!
Jokes aside, best of luck with the guild. Hopefully we see less and less of the old hostile ranger mentality.
-Human Racial and you have a pretty good base for a sPVP Condi War Build.
Although i would take out the rune of grenth and put in something like rune of Undead instead as all your chill would come from your racial elite which has a 3 minute cooldown.
Elementalists are a hard class to play, especially someone new to MMO’s. What attracts people to the ele is the ability to do all those things at the same time.
I wont tell you to make a new class but I want you to think of it this way. The elementalist has 4 attunements as im sure you are aware ( F1-F4 by default). Each of those has a primary role to fill and all 4 should be used. I feel as though understanding the point of these attunements may make it easier for you to understand the true potential of the class and how to use them.
Fire is damage. This is where your big hitters are. Most of the fire skills tend to do lots of damage, and are usually AOE (hit more than 1 enemy).
Water is support. Most of the skills in here tend to be some sort of heal or regen.
Air is Single Target Damage/Control. This is where your single target damage comes. Usually the damage isn’t as high as some of the fire damage skills are, and it tends to only affect 1 guy (or very limited). Also you tend to be able to stun enemies or blind them.
Earth is Condition Damage and Control and Defense. This is where your bleeds/Immobilize/Knockdowns are. Basically most of the stuff inflicts bleed on the enemy and makes it really annoying to fight you.
The problem also comes with most of the PVE being too easy, it teaches people bad habits of being able to just sit there and spam a few skills and watch the enemy die. It allows people to level up to higher levels and then get hit by that hard curve when you try your 1st dungeon or fractal and realize “oh crap, I have to actually pay attention now instead of sleep at my keyboard”
(edited by CountzuCrytus.7256)
Most of my staff experience comes from WvW. In such I tend to use all attunements about equally ( maybe fire and water slightly more than air and earth). Its not necessarily bad to stay in fire if you or your group are able to. Only recommendations that I have is not to neglect the Earth #2 blast finish. True it may be difficult to get that to go off on lava font, but you can put the earth skill down 1st and then the fire field after to make it easier to get the might. Also you can use Earth 2 to blast your geyser and healing rain the same way.
Just like you though I tend not to swap attunements nowhere near as much when im on staff compared to say S/D or D/D.
Hmm well that’s conflicting responses, I was hoping for more.
Do you know if they put a video of the livestream online afterwards?
Im sure they did, check the Facebook or youtube channel.
1 .You can only have one active at a time, you can have them all unlocked , but only the one you select as active will get experience.
2.Havent had a chance to mess around with them enough to see the difference in the minor rewards.
3. Most Tracks are repeatable as much as you want. There are 3 different types of tracks. 1 time Tracks (Balthazar one-unlocks unique pvp skin at end which is why its only a 1 time track). There are dungeon tracks (currently the active one is Arah). The last one is regional ( Shiverpeaks, Kryta Etc etc).
All of the tracks except for the Balthazar one are repeatable as much as you want. There is a default dungeon track those cycles every 2 weeks and a new one comes around. If you complete the story mode of a certain dungeon you unlock that track and can activate it whenever you want. ( So with the default one being Arah, lets say I complete AC I can activate the AC one at any time I want even though its not it’s cycle yet).
If I look at another class forum i’ll probably just stab my monitor with a water bottle.
LOL
I feel as though the Elementalist may be a good fit for you. Elementalist tends to have a very active play stile. You have a limited selection of weapons as compared to other classes but each weapon has 3x as many skills. The way it works is you have 4 attunements, fire, water, air, earth. Each attunement changes the skills you have. You can swap attunements at will, once you leave one it goes on cool down for about 10-12 seconds.. So instead of having 10 skills to manage as any other class you have 20. Because of this feature they are really fun to play as it requires you to be really active and not just spam 1 as you can create all sorts of combinations by using skills from different attunements together.
Eles are really squishy. They have the lowest base health and lowest base armor in the game. So having 20 skills to manage along with limited survivability. They are also one of the best support and best damage dealers in game (depending on how you build one). Because they have 4 attunements, each attunement tends to focus on a particular play stile. Fire tends to focus around damage, water is around support, air is about dps/control and earth is about defense/control/conditions. So you can really fill any role rather well.
Eles are good for dungeons and any group play also are not too common. You will see plenty of eles around but they’re not as common as a guardian or warrior (at least from my experience)
Helmet is Barbaric.
Pants are Honor of the Waves
Boots are Aetherblade Heavy armor
If i remember correctly from the livestream they said it would be 1 piece. a Level 80 exotic in which you get to chose the stats as well. Basically same as you would get a piece by running explore mode in that dungeon and buying it with tokens.
“Superior Rune of Divinity
+8 to all stats
+10 to all stats
+12 to all stats
+14 to all stats
+16 to all stats
+18 to all stats”I totally called it
Ha! nice job!
Some of the sPVP stuff is no longer valid as the reward system has changed as of yesterday. Other than that everything else is pretty much doable. But that can be replaced with the new fashion achievements (Unlock 1000 skins)
Not exactly sure what the point of the post is.
Are you asking for help to see why you cant target anymore?
What is different about it now then last time you played?
Did you unselect auto-targeting while you had it on before?
More details would help in letting us help you.
I agree, I don’t see it being too much of a problem to make level 1 items (same skin as all the merchant armor) without any stats.
On the other hand, you get Tomes to level up fairly easily with the new reward track so if you have a character under level 10 it shouldn’t take long to get it up there.
The way Boon Duration was affected was because of the runes, you can no longer stack 2/2/2 runes to stack boon duration from the 2nd perk of the rune. Looking over the runes most appear to have been moved to 4/6 .
There is a vendor set up near the BLTC in each of the major cities from what I hear that you can go to and get the costumes that were changed into tonics.
I would say out of all classes that can use a GS I find ranger the most fun/skill oriented to use. The weapon isn’t made for all out offense on rangers like it is on the other classes. It brings a lot more utility/survivability.
Rangers get a lot of hate in game/forums but they are by far my fav GS class.

pro·fes·sion
noun
1. a paid occupation, esp. one that involves prolonged training and a formal qualification.class
noun
1. a set or category of things having some property or attribute in common and differentiated from others by kind, type, or quality.I think that ‘profession’ works better for crafting and ‘class’ works better for character skill set. I just see crafting as a paid job, while your skill set is just who you are. Like, IRL you aren’t an american profession.
unless, of course: SPARTANS, WHAT IS YOUR PROFESSION?!
“My profession?! You know, now that I think of it, I’ve always wanted to be a baker.”
Sorry Couldnt resist
(Pantheon reference for those that dont know)
The “refunded” ones may be account bound. Much like the PvP ones currently are.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the refunded ones follow the same. It would be very logical to have them that way.
Yep, that’s why I stopped after buying couple of duplicated blue dyes because if it’s unknown then risk is too huge even if rare dyes would double in price and even if I had a refund for all 188 blue dyes it’s uncertain if I get any good rares form acc bound unids.
Not that long ago I had about 250 acc bound dyes from pvp and when I opened it, there wasn’t even black or white dye.
From what I understand only the same dye used across multiple characters is getting refunded as unidentified dye. If you have 188 blue dyes sitting in your bank it wont do you anything.
In GW2 all races are the same when it comes to stats and hitbox size. So pick one that you like for appearance as it won’t give you any benefit otherwise. Each race has racial skills but they are usually underpowered compared to your class specific ones, so that shouldn’t be a deciding factor.
Warrior and Guardian tend to be easier to play for beginners, Ranger Necromancer are around the middle and Thief, Mesmer, Engineer and Elementalist tend to be more difficult to pick up.
There is a lot of helpful info on the forums here, check some of the stickied threads and go in the profession sub section for guides on how to play that profession.
Like the post above me mentioned, gw2 is about the journey. There is great content in the game but its spread out evenly across levels and not stacked all at the end like in traditional mmos. There’s still lots of stuff to do once you hit max level (80). Also you get scaled down when you are a higher level, so even if you are a level 80 you can go to lower level areas and experience that content without 1 hitting everything. So doesn’t worry about rushing to 80 just play the game.
Joining a guild helps as well. I recommend finding a decent PvX guild as they tend to do a bit of everything until you figure out what part of the game you like and decide if you want to go into something more focused.
That looks like a Consumable token in the 2nd row from the bottom ( looks like a piece of paper) You can use that to craft 1 Unidentified Dye. The Unidentified dye will be account-bound I believe so you will have to use it and either then decide if you want to keep the dye or sell.
Otherwise I would use a combination of your Arcane Powder, any of your Equipment Tokens, and Aracane Sliver (highest rarity of the 3) and your Paid Tournament Tokens. Or you can use the Free Tournament tokens instead but I’ve found better luck with the paid ones.
You could try your luck at making Dwayna’s Longbow- Click the link for recipe. It has a random chance of giving you one of 4 longbows apparently so you have a small chance of getting them with only 2 tokens.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/PvP_Dwayna%27s_Longbow
Or go to http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/PvP_reward
And scroll down for a list of rare weapons, when you click on them it will give you a recipe on how to craft one.
Try longbow + axe/shield with soldier gear, it is the easiest and most effective duel spec I have ever run on any class. If people try to melee you just lay combustive shot and arcing arrow on yourself, and if they try to range, pin them down and switch to axe and eviscerate them. You’ll also get fire auras, burning projectiles and might up the wazoo using your many finishers in your fire field. Blind can be a bit annoying but combustive shot gets rid of it most of the time.
LB/s-s is the strongest combo ingame for a warr atm.You can pressure them from far,but if they close in you can switch and put torment on and just keep autoattacking to stack bleeds and cripple him ( also you have riposte to block from far and gain adren,or go upclose and apply 4x bleeds for 12 sec instead ) ,in a matter of time they will back off again,so you can start kiting again while they prob still have torment on them.Depending on your amulet and your trait setup, this weap combo atm is a beast when used right.
Eh, I’ve tried sword/sword + longbow condition and I much prefer axe/shield + longbow power. It’s just too easy to cleanse conditions in this game, so you can be hardcountered since war can’t apply a ton of conditions like necro and engi. The stun on shield is amazing for interrupting heals and setting up eviscerate, and I prefer shield block 10x over sword block… blocking melee attacks is extremely useful, and I could care less about a couple bleed stacks. Dueling a condition spec war with axe/shield + longbow is a walk in the park since every time you use combustive shot or eviscerate you are clearing all their conditions (with cleansing ire). That’s not to speak of berserker’s stance and runes of lyssa.
And axe/shield combos so well with longbow… eviscerate, cyclone axe, throw axe, and shield bash are ALL combo finishers. Not to mention axe is one of the best weapons for filling adrenaline, so you will always have combustive shot up on switch.
Anyways I think it’s a bit of a misconception thinking of longbow as a condition weapon. Arcing arrow does MAJOR direct damage and burning doesn’t benefit that much from condition damage anyways. The six bleed stacks on pin down will never last full duration and can’t be reapplied quickly after being cleansed.
Only thing missing from axe/shield is ooc mobility imo. Still good for chasing with the cripple+stun though.
Finally impale’s torment stacks are getting majorly nerfed in the next patch, so all the more reason to switch to shield master race.
I’d really have to disagree How is putting torment and condis on someone youre otherwise pretty much unable to hit a bad thing compared to using an axe wich will be rendered completely useless in certain battles ? Play against a Proper condi warr with your current build, and you will see the difference, you will not stand a chance.A Proper player will evade all your evis, yet evading torment and continuously trying to cleans all condis,is a near impossible task.I play warr since day one of gw2,i know every build in and out.Condis are the way to go atm. Also, its about knowing When to apply What…and not randomly putting on condis that are being cleansed 2 sec later.
I play S/S LB on my war in spvp, the only build that’s ever shut me out completely was a bunker Diamond Skin Ele ( I posted about this the other day). Where I couldn’t dps the guy down fast enough to get him below 90% hp so my conditions take effect. The guy kept stacking tons of regen with healing rain and dodge rolling with evasive arcana whenever I came close to the 90% mark, was quite funny… other than that, its fairly easy to run through most classes.
I play a S/S war in spvp (S/S Longbow). It’s a really fun build at the present time, sadly though the build itself will receive a nerf post 15th as the torment duration is going to be reduced significantly.
The build still has great potention as its easy to get 20+ stacks of bleed on a single guy and watch him get hit 2K+ dmg a second just from bleed
actually it’s hard to say those notes were confirmed fake but anets also confirmed that imaple will apply torment quicker MUCH quicker. this would make it much more bursty but easier to cleanse. it’s quite possible that they will reduce the time the torment lasts while buffing the rate they are applied. which could very well mean the damage is applied much quicker but in very similar amounts. (it will be easier to cleanse though)
so we won’t know how it works out til apr 15 at this poing kinda hoping it’s not nearly as bad as what has been said.
Thats cool i didnt know they were planing on increasing the rate at which it gets applied. If they do, im all for it.
So I tried the build I made last night… sadly it didn’t go to well. Which is to be expected I guess. The build lacked HP and Condi Cleanse so I guess you could say it had a Fetal flaw. Even though I had about 3k armor the regen you get from crits and from the signet heal (with occasional water skill 5) was nowhere near enough to sustain the insane DPS that some classes run. I remember one necro constantly hit me for 3.5K crits while in death shroud with his life blast skill. One would think with 3k armor that u would be able to prevent someone from taking ¼ of your life with 1 skill.
I made some adjustments to the build as i went along…
It worked a little bit better, as I added some condi cleanse but I wouldn’t really call it viable. I did have a pretty easy time taking down bunker guardians strangely. Not sure if it was bad players, or the amount of condis the build puts out that the guardian cant cleanse quick enough?
It’s a fun build though if you manage to sneak up behind someone, stay out of their camera as they focus your teammate and LF>Churning Earth on them then burn them down, people tend to melt pretty quickly.
