I noticed this as well. Shame. But if they do change it I feel as if there needs to be a good icd due to being able to evade every 3 attacks with the gs
Why use celestial for that build?
I’m sure there are better alternatives, I also haven’t tried any of the new amulets.
I enjoy celestial due to the well rounded stats. U do pretty good dmg, and don’t die in 2 hits. The extra healing power helps a little bit too with the regen u get from the signet and TU (even as minor as it is)
My favorite one so far is a melee GS S/A survival build.
Rune: Hoelbrak
Amulet: Celestial
Heal- TU
Lightning Reflex, Quickening Zephyr, Signet of the Wild.
Elite: Strenght of the Pack
Marksmanship- I,IV,VIII
Remorseless works so well with SOTP it’s pretty insane, I’m getting opening strike every 3 seconds wile its up.
Skirmishing-II, IV, IX
Primal Reflexes works nicely with GS aa. Most dangerous game is one of my favorite new traits. with Hoelbrak rune u can maintain about 10 stacks of might if under 50% hp.
Wilderness Survival-II,VI,VIII
Its similar to a bunker setup I ran before the change except u do fairly decent dmg now.
Love the marksmanship line now. Never thought I’d be using it on a melee setup but oh well.
This is sPVP build btw.
I had a hard time deciding on my 1st legendary as well, as I play many professions. Bolt is and was my top pick but I already had infinite light and having to pick which of the 2 swords I would use was going to be too hard of a choice….
So I ended up making the juggernaut instead due to mainly playing a frontline war in a wvw guild at the time… But who knows with new weapons and specs in the future after Druid maybe bunny thumper is still a possibility!
Pick whatever you will use/enjoy. I wouldn’t rec making staff just yet as we have no idea if u will actually like it or not.
If they changed spike trap to be similar to what it was in the original game, and have it knock enemies down, I would probably consider using the trait.
For the WvW build:
Like the post above mentioned, there is a lack of condi clears.
I personally am not a big fan of honed axes due to the low physical dmg that mainhand axe has. I would take 2 points out of that line and put it in for survival of the fittest, which should cover our condi cleanse situation.
Also For sigil on axe and wh I might consider swapping force out as it doesn’t affect condi dmg ( not sure how much dps u would lose from wh) but I would experiment with something to put out more condi pressure ( doom or earth). Just an idea…
I was content with spirits in gw1. If they make effects of spirits stronger, and slightly tanky-we I think its work as a nice bunker/zone control tool in pvp. I was never a fan of moving spirits or the active abilities.
I feel the spirits should inflict a non- condition based effect for anyone in area similar to what frost spirit is now. Think of a field cards in trading games.

I don’t even try to attack fellow rangers WvW or PvP tbh, but if I am attacked, its like “BETRAYER!” and I go off lol.
I always attack other rangers and target them first in group fights because the majority of them are easy bags.
If I get in a 1v1 with a good ranger I won’t stomp him, I’ll down them, bow and whisper them ”good fight”.
Since the buff to longbow I have run into maybe 3 rangers that have received this treatment.
I also target Rangers first, they are by far the easiest to kill. Engineer is easy too as well as thief, if he doesn’t stealth quick enough. Mesmer can be easy too. Necro is just annoying with double health bars and elementalist moves half way across the map while downed, which makes him almost impossible to finish. Warrior and Guardian just have a lot of health with good survivability and healing, which makes them my least favorite target.
I have no problem with stomping another Ranger. I don’t treat them any better than anyone else. However, I do love to see a Ranger on my team.
(Talking about WvW)
I’ve noticed this as a ranger as well, either in PvP or wvw im always the 1st to be targeted. It’s almost as if everyone expects you to be full glass with a Lb. It’s really funny seing a med guard or thief bum rush me, only to find out I run a spec just as tanky as his bunker guard friend
Hello everyone,
Was hoping you could help me find a Dye that resembles the metal part of the grenth hood as closely as possible.
If you have any ideas please post.
Thank you in advance!
Closest i could find was : Olive Silk
I usually run a very durable regen ranger/ bunker build. I try to either use wolf/boar for a lot of cc, or wolf/ jungle stalker for the added dps.
Hey guys,
So I’m getting my engineer to 80 then diving into an elementalist. Class looks very fun to play!
Really I’m just after any advice or tips and tricks you have please! So far I know dd for PvP and staff for pve. Ill probably hate levelling as I’m used to levelling on my ranger which is a doddle. But again any tips for levelling also?
which class do you think has the best appeal in equipment? I checked out metabattle and the “rotation” seems ok but a little confusing. The 4 attunements seems worrying as it seems like a lot to do but I’ve no idea if I need to swap often etc etc
also roaming, are we viable? Solo queue PvP, pug dungeons and fractals, how are we?
Cheers!!
Welcome to the life of an ele!
Eles are in high demand for all game modes i believe.
Tips:
I recommend trying all weapons (there’s more to an ele than d/d)
Playing an ele is kind of like it playing rock-paper-scissors. You have an ability that can counter every occasion if played correctly. Don’t be afraid to swap attunments.
You can use cantrips and swap attunements while channeling skills (churning earth, meteor shower, etc)
Combo fields and finishers are your friends as you have a lot of them, you can get extra heals or might if you use skills in right order.
I personally use Infinite Light on my thief ( and all classes that use swords), I just wish there was a dagger variant to it.
I am trying to decide whether I want to play a guard or not. I dig the mechanics and visuals but the armor…blagh. All big chunky plate.
I saw some armor today that I kind of liked, but it was Gem. I also saw another decent looking armor (like sleek plate with a sort of avian/feather motif) but could not work out where it came from.
Oh and that nightmare court armor is sexy but I doubt I’m ever going to get into that place :|.
Any cool sets of plate that don’t look ‘chunky’?
There are plenty of heavy armor skins in the game that don’t look gigantic. A big part of aesthetics is the race u are. On a Norn and sylvari for example most shoulder pieces will look gigantic and really bulky.
Don’t be afraid to mix and match skins. As far as non bulky sets….
Order of Whispers
Dragonic
Ascalonian Catacombs
Honor of the Waves
Pit Fighter
Barbaric
Phalanx ( – shoulders, gem store)
Ascended
Human Tier 1 cultural
Just a few examples I can think of, off the top of my head…

Anybody want Baseball bat Hammer skin?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: CountzuCrytus.7256
I had an idea. I notice that the Revenant’s auto attack animation looks like they playing baseball and hitting a ball out towards their target.
Well what if we had a goofy weapon skin to do just that.
The weapon skin looks like a baseball bat, but check this. The projectiles from it look like baseballs instead of hammers, similar to how legendary weapons can change the projectile animation.
What’s your thoughts on this?
There’s already a baseball cap if I’m not mistaken with the gw2 logo on it. It was given to ppl for preorder or beta.. So Long ago can’t really remember.

A kanabo would be pretty cool.
Gw1 had a hammer called the Tetsubo Hammer, would love to see it again. Might even use it instead of my jugg.
I use mine when I go bunker/regen ranger. It’s pretty great way of stacking might on your pet if you run the fortifying bond trait. It’s also got great potential to put a lot of stacks of bleed if you use #2 at point blank
[SUGGESTION] Design a Weapon/Armor Contest

Yes! I agree! I doodle lots of GW weapons (sets often), and would love an opportunity to show this stuff off.
I’d love to see some, throw a pic in or 2 if you have it
[SUGGESTION] Design a Weapon/Armor Contest
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: CountzuCrytus.7256
Since the new expansion is still under development i figured this would be a perfect opportunity to suggest a contest to design a weapon or a set of armor the way ANET did back in 2007 for GW1 for the Eye of the North expansion.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Design-a-Weapon_%282007%29 if interested in some of the stuff that players have made
Why?
I think this would be a great way to get some of the brilliant artists that are already part of our community to write their name in the history books of GW2.
If you look at the items created in the original contest they are by far some of the coolest and most sought after items in the original game.
The players in this wonderful community have some amazing talent… dont believe me.. hop in the community creations section of the forums and look at some of the commissions in there if you haven’t already.
This was more of a post for anet to consider but i want to see everyone else’s opinions. IF ANET did decide to do a contest like this… would you guys be willing or interested?
Edge of the mists, birthday boosters and normal exp boosters help in leveling. U can get tome of knowledge as well to make it quicker on you. If you have a lot of gold craft as well. Doing a dungeon run as well is basically a free lvl.
I’d say staff makes most pve mobs without any issues.
Main reason I don’t play charr anymore is due to armor clipping issues.
Tips:
You can swap attunements and use most cantrips without interrupting a channeled skil (meteor shower/churning earth/ drake breath etc etc)l.
Dodge roll lots.
Try out all the weapons. Theres more to an ele than just D/D. See what you like and what fits your play-style more.
Mine is human.
As a Sylvari be careful when you go into fire attunement your hair might wilt away.
Jokes aside… race doesnt really make much of a difference, for any class. There is no advantage of one over another
It would be nice if i actually posted the build eh?
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fJAQNAS5ejEdU5ZrHOewJaAjgCZq3CGDgcOdRs3HBA-TZBCABAcEAG+CAcxDBIn9H4qMAA
Hello, I haven’t played my war in a while to be honest. I’ve been playing my ele and ranger mostly. As someone who’s fought the normal war meta of shoutbow and hambow I thought I would try an un-orthodox way of playing the war in pvp. Again as someone who hasn’t played the war in a bit I wanted to get your guys’s opinions of what you think of the build and of ways in improving it.
Purpose
The purpose of this build is to in a sense lock down the enemy as much as possible with a wide verity of stuns dazes knock backs and confusion while supporting allies on point. Not really meant to be a 1v1 build, but rather a different kind of teamfight build.
So what do you think?
I have tried the build myself and find it pretty fun actually, as a different way of playing the war, but any tips would be helpful.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Druid
All the wiki says so far is that they use plant based attacks.
In other games druids tend to be mages that use magic to protect nature from the rest of civilization. They also tend to have some healing abilities and sometimes even the ability to shape-shift.
I predict the druid will get staff skills that provide some sort of heal/support possibly on par with Water Staff Ele support output. I also predict seeing an ability that uses vines or similar objects to root players/targets in place. They might even use a “touch” spell or 2 as touch rangers did in GW1 (Even though they were R/N).
As far as a new mechanic to the class i think that we will be surprised. I remember back when the ranger CDI was going on players recommended an Aspect or Aura like abilities to replace the current pet mechanics. The Devs at the CDI appeared to like this idea and it appeared like they gave it some serious thought, i have a feeling that we are going to see something along the lines of that.
Nothing is preventing them from taking underwater weapons such as spears and giving then skills for on land use. I predict either a dagger type weapon, maybe a pistol, or possibly a spear. In the video it showed rhytlock using a spear on land. But, since he’s a revenant now that could be their unique feature. Would be cool to see a lancer or spearman in the game. Be it on a war/guard/or rev. I don’t mind either way !
oh kitten i just realised that its unblockable xD
I’ve had times when magnetic aura did not reflect magnetic grasp. It’s listed as a projectile finisher. Anyone else have this? And do you think it’s a bug or intended?
Mines called Nora The Eternal. It’s my human female ele. Was normally used for my Norn Mesmer but I thought it made more sense on my ele. Nora means Light so the name translates to The Eternal Light.
A Spear would be a great addition for the Ele i believe. It can be used for melee weapon or you can cast spells with it as a staff. As far as new mechanics go i would like to see something along the lines of a an Arcane Mage. It changes your F1-F4 attunements into a single Arcane Attunement.
I’ve played and leveled all classes to 80( except engy) and some of them i leveled to 80 twice or even 3 times. I enjoyed all the classes (except for engy) for what they brought to the table. I used to be in organized wvw grps but I personally stayed more of a PVx player (player vs x).
As far as what class to main i recomendations not to worry about it. Try them all. Hell play them all. I tend to enjoy doing pve on my guardian (mainly due to 100 % world completion) so any of the new events I do on that guy. I tried pvp but I just couldn’t do pvp on it for the life of me.
For wvw I tend to play either as an ele or warrior. They have very different styles so I like to mix it up to prevent getting bored. Both being the core of WvW for different reasons.
For Spvp I play as a ranger or ele. I’ve loved playing those 2 classes for over a year now. They used to be the big underdogs and everyone underestimated you for playing that class. I’d hear " you can’t bunker as a ranger" rants from my teams all the time. But that’s a part of the flavor that turned me on towards the classes.
You don’t really have to have a main. I’f it’s hard picking one pick a few. See what you like more for what modes.
I am going to try Fort Aspenwood.
Welcome to the darkside!
I’ve had good luck wth Razer headphones. Between the Razer and Astro a40s that Ive used I have had ppl tell me the Razer sounds a lot clearer.
Warmaster Forgal Kernsson may you rest in peace!
I’m okay with the way most of the pets are. Only thing I would improve or change is the attack animations of birds. They tend to have very long swooping animations that take longer to hit and is hard to hit moving targets with.
It really depends on what you are intending the builds to be for.
Looking at the most common ele builds out there, cant go wrong with berserker’s stats or Ascended for any of the weapons.I was wondering if I could get like guide lines, as in, “Prioritize in Power or Condition damage”, or that sort of things. (I mean does Berserker refer to Power, Precision and Ferocity?)
Yes and celestial is the one that has all stats.

D/F isn’t as viable in high-level play because you are forced into close combat and lack the kitting pressure of the scepter.
I just Lol’ed, we have pros here.
Where?! I want some autographs on my staff :O.
They seemed like they were a couple hundred feet in the air when the airship blew up. It looked like logan was hanging off the edge of the ship holding Zojja and Eir on top of it Shooting her bow. Pretty hard to survive that. I doubt that they had falling damage trait or rune :P
On bright note… does that mean Traherne( however u spell it ) is evil or dead now too?
I’d prefer evil and alive so I can personally kill him.
I’d like to formally claim dibbs on killing that glory stealing cabbage.
LOL
Hey guys a while back i leveled my mesmer to 80 but never really played it much. In the little bit that i played i noticed some serious mobility issues ( lack of swiftness).
Am i missing something?
To the more experienced mesmers (most of you) how do you get around when by yourself in normal roaming and in fights?
I know in fights there are some skills that may teleport you to your enemy but i still feel clunky slow compared to some other classes (maybe im just used to near perma swiftness on my guard/war/ele/ranger…).
Same, it was interesting…only thing I have to say is thank grenth for deathshroud!
You don’t see too many posts where someone thanks Grenth for anything, really. Oh wait, maybe that’s Dhuum…
Id like to thank Dhuum for the awesome mega bans in gw1. Was fun to watch

This may contain spoilers to cutscenes @ end if you dont want spoilers stop reading now.
In the last 1 or 2? cutscenes it showed the ships getting destroyed and one of them had members of destiny’s edge on it. It pretty much looked like they were doomed.
What are your opinions about them surviving or not?
Anyone that red the books wanted Logan dead as well, if he is dead now… happy? xD
look for it in green circle (square) the npc following u should also say something when you get close
This is more of a question for the devs. I noticed that the echo had Turai’s Shield and Sword. Is there a possibility of seeing this weapon/shield in the future? (hopefully in a less seethrough form). Loved the shield and sword in gw1 one of my favorites. Would love to see it in here as well.

Just finished playing through the living story and i have to say i enjoyed the cutscenes and the CG scenes at the end. I think they were nicely done (wish we had more of those). Way to go team that made those!
Kinda like the gw1 necro bombers in jq
I’ve done a similar “downstate ele” build for giggles in Spvp. Basically go as glass as possible with staff put down a lava dont right b4 you’re about to go down, when you do a 2nd one forms. If anyone is an idiot and truest to rush a stomp they melt like butter. Also if you use #2 while in downstate after logcenough( w/e that traits cd is) u can make a 3rd lava font on the ground.
I have a set with the tune that I used as an experiment for a wvw frontline build. Basically it was the standard 0/2/0/6/6 build but I built water into removing condo on water attunement and to share auras. I also used d/f ( i preffer focus over dagger offhand) but I guess it really works for d/d as well you’re just trading fire aura for frost aura.
In the end it worked ok. Had prema swiftness due to all the auras. Didn’t notice much of a difference when it comes to survivability. The extra 1-2 seconds on each aura didn’t really do much.
