I would prefer the Templating system from GW1 to ‘Bundling.’ This way I could potentially use the same pieces (amor / trinkets / weapons) across several set ups. This set up seems to ‘lock’ things together, unless I’m just reading it wrong. (Not enough coffee yet, still sleepy) This method would limit my flexibility of using perhaps armor set A with trinket set A or trinket set B as needed.
The original intention was to have the sets of gear separate. So have Weapons as 1 set, Armor as another and Trinkets as another. This way you only want to swap out armor you can, or if you want to only swap out trinkets you can.
The idea is very similar to the template system in GW1 but rather than have it just as weapon set where you click F1-F4 to swap weapon sets it’s more in-depth and not only restricted to weapons themselves. Kind of like the PVP templates we had in GW1 without the naggy need to save templates to your HD.
+1 to the ideas,
I have been thinking about this idea for a while. The basics are the same as you describe in you posts.
When you are really diehard about you other build it can take up to 16 slots in your inventory (6 armour, 6 accessories and 4 weapons). I am all in for a one click equipement change but I personally think the reduction from 16 slots to 1 is a bit big.My suggestions for a bundle are:
-have it use multiple slots make it an item which uses a maximum of 3 slots in your inventory. It behaves like a 1 slot item only use 1 or 2 extra slots, so double click and you change all your equipment. This still leads to opening up 13 extra slots.
-Have three seperate bundles one for each type of equipment armour, accessories and weapons which each use just 1 slot in you inventory. This gives you a bit more freedom to change just parts of your equipment instead of everything at once. However it will always be 3 slots in your inventory if you want a bundle for each type. The acountbound suggestion from OP is great this would make it a quality of life upgrade for you and not a possibiltie to create greater storage space for stuff with which people want to speculate at the Trading Post.
I was thinking more of having a set for each equipment type. So 1 set for armor ( 6 items to 1) and another set for Trinkets ( 6 items to 1 ). So you would be trading bag space from 12 items down to 2.
Stuff like that is always appreciated very much. Seeing, that something like this exists basically already in PvP, makes me wonder, why ANet hasn’t already came up with it, to make something similar as a QoL improvement for PvE with the Feature of being able to create out of marked items “Equipment Sets” to basically merge them asclong as you want into 1 single item to reduce that way the amount of Inventory Spaces, that get blocked.
You know I didn’t even think of the PVP trinkets, now that you bring it up I guess that is kind of similar to what we’re recommending. When I get home tonight I’ll see if I can photoshop some screenshots to further show the idea
@wanze
A couple questions: How do you not comingle your and their investments? And also, given the limitations of stack and order size, as well as time, how is it possible to make more on a regular basis without spending additional time?Basically, aside from speculation, I generally find that even with the TP, my limit on how much I can make in a day is based on how much time I spend opening bags, placing orders, crafting, flipping, etc. Quantity of gold is never the limiting factor. So basically, how does your guildies’ gold let you make (them) more money? Isn’t what you are doing just the same thing as tithing to your guild a part of your profits (which is not at all a bad thing, and what I generally do)?
I was looking for more of a guild to discuss trading strategies, not a broker. I’m not so trusting to give my money to a stranger
I wouldn’t say its abandoned, i got my shards last night actually. It really depends on what time of the day you go. If you play in NA servers, you will have MUCH better luck during NA Prime Time than early in the morning.
I’m not sure if this has been mentioned before, I’ve gone through a few pages and have not noticed anything. Is there a Trader’s Guild that someone runs/operates? Basically a guild for people to get together and discuss trading strategies/tactics like you do on the forums here but in game?
I would assume so, its basically the same thing as when you transmute high level skins (lets say T3 armor) to low level armor.
Kind of how i have infinite light on my lvl 23 war atm.
The whole End Game mentality that people have in MMO’s is severely flawed the way I see it. Its true in the past most MMO’s have been about end game… but it shouldn’t be like that, it should be about the journey not the destination makes sense no?
(was unsure where to post this since the Ideas subforum was archived)
With the new trait system that we have set it, it’s made so that we can change our build on the fly to match any situation that we come up with. Sometimes it’s not enough just to change a trait point or 2 but may need to change your gear as well, to better fit the new traits. Now I know that going into your inventory and having to equip 6 Pieces of Armor and 6 Accessories (trinkets) and 2-4 weapons is a tedious thing to do.
What I propose is a way to link the gear so that it appears as 1 item in your inventory (see screenshot examples below). This would make it quick and easy for us to be able to swap gear when we chose, it would also allow us to be able to carry multiple sets of items without it taking up most of our inventory space.
Ideas to Achieve this
- Have a new option in the hero panel where you can drag up to 6 items of the same kind (6 pieces of armor or 6 trinkets) that will allow you to link items. This will allow you to name the Linked item as well so that it is easily distinguished for what it is. When you click link it forms a new item in your inventory. When you want to unlink the items simply right click on the bundle and click “Un-Link” and it will separate the items to your bag. If your bags are full make the character over encumbered (like when opening a map completion chest or a WvW Rank up Chest with full bags).
- The other way I can think of doing this is by making it act like a spreadsheet does, where you hold CTRL and click on items and when you have the items selected you right click and click
“Combine” or “Bundle” - To prevent people from abusing this system make it so that when you bundle an item it automatically Account-Binds the items involved.
- Also, to make it so that you can tell which items are involved in the Bundle: when you point your mouse over the item, have a box appear (like when you point at a skill) showing what items are all involved in the bundle.
How do you guys feel about this idea?
If you are looking for more of your classical Archer look, the ranger skills fit the picture better. But if want a ranged weapon with cool looking skills then the warrior one wins it imho.
You could right click on the weapon in the Hero Pannel and just equip the weapon that way, so you dont have to search for stuff in your bags.
I re-rolled my Charr warrior for a human warrior (I already have a guardian norn). The reason I re-rolled was due to the lack of decent looking armor for the charr. With the tail most of the armor just looked weird and didn’t work out. I still have my charr though, maybe one day they release decent looking armor for them and I pick it up again…
I personally dont like the Norn Animations and prefer the human ones imho.
Your best bet would be the wiki http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Legendary_weapon or http://gw2legendary.com/
There are also lots of youtube videos that they can look at that give instructions on ways to get certain items.
WvW or World Vs World is basically a weekly fight between 3 servers. The server that you pick when you first log into the game is the server you will be representing in WvW.
Once you log into the game you can press B (after the initial mission) and decide which map you want to join.
There are 5 Maps to Que up for. 3 of the maps are home maps for each of the 3 servers and will be called [Insert server name here] Borderland. The 4th map is called Eternal Battleground which is an even split between the 3 servers. The last map is Edge of the Mists, which is similar to Eternal Battlegrounds.
When you join a borderland you automatically get leveled up to level 80 and your stats are adjusted somewhat similar to what you would be if you really are level 80. You basically go around try to capture camps, towers, and keeps. If you hold one of those (and castles too) for a certain amount of time (each time it ticks) you get points to your server.
The matchups reset weekly, and whoever has the highest points at the end of the week wins.
Also hit the PVP locker in Heart of the mists, and preview some armors. If you dont like the race. Delete and make the other?
Although ferocity will reduce the damage you do by a little bit… they say that it should be about a 10% drop in damage if you wear a full berserker set. Let’s say you get a 10K Backstab on a light class, it’s now 9K instead of 10.. which is still a LOT of damage. I wouldn’t count backstab thieves out just because of that. Also don’t forget the new grandmaster traits that the classes are getting which will open up new builds for you to try out.
Edit:
I can just see Skelk Venom with the new trait, healing you for about 1k HP with each backstab
i see the price of unidentified dye dropping significantly because of this…
I agree, I love the changes coming up with the wardrobe/dye.
I would not recommend making a class just because the class is currently in good standing or is balanced (or GOD Mode as you stated). These things can change with each patch… and IDK about you but I would hate to put in a couple hundred hours on a class to find out I only liked it because it was good at one point in time. Also with the new traits and trait rework after 4/15/14 who knows how the other classes will stand compared to the warrior.
Ive head people state that you get more bonus exp for killing an add that was alive for longer, does that mean an add that’s alive longer since it spawned? Or since it entered combat to attack you?
Since it spawned.
The longer the mob is in the map without being killed, the higher is the bonus exp (till a limit of course).EDIT: here you can read “An exploration bonus is earned based on how long a creature has been alive in the world”
Is there any concrete table or % that is made public for how it works?
Example" If the mob is alive for an hour you gain X % bonus EXP, if the mob is alive for 2 hours you gain X % Bonus EXP?"
Anything like that?
What would you gain from that? Camp a mob to wait until it gets more bonus XP? Ask in map chat to know whether someone has been in the area recently?
From personal experience, I’d wager something along the lines of it being alive 30-60 mins will give the maximum amount of bonus XP. Then again you never know, on midlevel maps with few to no players around, mobs and events tend to stay for a while.
Yeah, i wouldnt really gain much by knowing it, but was more curious if there was any information on it.

So last night I decided to re-roll one of my classes (War) for a different race. Along with a couple of guildies of mine decided to run me to CoF so that we can do a quick P1 run to get a level or so.
On the way there we tagged some mobs and that gave insane bonus exp. I had a exp booster and a birthday booster on at the time, and each mob we killed gave me at least 5 % exp per kill.
There was one area right beneath a skill point where a bunch of tiny raptors jumped out and I managed to tag most of them as the 2 killed them and I got like 30 % exp just from killing about 10 raptors…
So back to my question is there a formula to show exactly how Bonus EXP is calculated when it comes to killing mobs (ignoring the fact that I had the 2 boosters the obvious bonus they give).
Ive head people state that you get more bonus exp for killing an add that was alive for longer, does that mean an add that’s alive longer since it spawned? Or since it entered combat to attack you?
Also, if you have not already done so add a -BMP command line argument so that your screenshots are in BMP format not JPEG which in turn makes higher quality screenshots.
Its not really a night and day difference but you can notice it.
I built my pc as well. I remember when I swapped out my CPU to my new one how much of a difference it made. Mind you I went from an AMD Phenom II Quad Core (2.6 GHz) to an Intel i7 3770K (3.5GHz) and what a difference. I used the same GPU on both pcs
I went from Power Point Presentations at min settings in a Zerg to 30+ FPS in large 50 v 50 WvW fights at Max Settings
If you’re going to invest any money into this build, I recommend getting a good cpu a priority!
Discussing matchups is against the forum rules which are probably why you haven’t heard much about it. I’m on Fort Aspenwood and we face SoS regularly, they tend to have a solid population from what I see on my end.
You can also guest to servers and go to some of the main hubs and see if there are people running around. You just cant participate in WvW while guesting that server.
Make sure you run GW2 in Windowed Full Screen ( I think that’s the name of the option) and not actually full screen. That way when you use the overlay it stays on top of GW2.
Basically though you run the overlay, click on top of it and chose what world you are in. And also the same way you can sort what type of events you want to see with it.
Only way to find out is to submit a support ticket. No harm done if it gets rejected.
The site works fine for me.
That is an interesting thought when it comes to new weapons and the conjured ones. I do feel as though they would either give the ele weapons that arnt the same as the conjured counter parts (Like Sword, Hammer (lol) that way there is no conflict between the skill sets.
The other alternative is to give the same weapons as the conjured counter parts but make the skills not as dynamic. That way it would give the ele a reason to actually use the conjured weapon instead of the real one.
If your intent is to deal damage to siege then I would still stay with Berserker gear, even with the nerf coming up its only supposed to be about a 10% drop in damage(which will probably still be higher than PVT Set). But if you want a bit of survivability its not a bad idea to mix it up a bit.
I would change out some of your skills/traits to make it more effective.
• Consider swapping out Persisting Flames for Pyromancer’s Puissance- with pvt armor you have no crit damage or chance so no point in stacking fury. Also Meteor shower is not a fire field it will not extend duration of it.
• Arcane Abatement is kind of pointless, there are much better traits- consider putting Vital striking instead
• I’m not a big fan of Signet of Air; if you’re with a group you should have constant swiftness anyways so it makes the passive useless. Blind doesn’t help take down siege either. Consider putting in Lightning flash for utility ( also 3rd cantrip) or conjure Frost Bow(#4 on Frost Bow is brutal on any siege!)
• Conjure fiery GS is ok, since the point of this build is to take down siege tornado is better so you can Meteor shower>Tornado for the extra damage. The GS skills are hard to hit siege with that’s up on walls. But its really nice for taking down doors ( use #4 on door when standing right in front of it.. without having the door selected ( or have something behind door selected) so that you run at it… you will do insane damage to a door.
As far as items not depositing from your inventory I believe it may be because of your bags that you are using. If you are using a Invisible Bag or a Safe Box it will not deposit any items when you use that feature.
I know a lot of guardians that use 2 Sup. Runes of Traveler on their guardians for Boon Duration builds.
About a year ago I forgot my password and needed to get it reset, and I accidentally threw away the serial code. I was able to get my password reset without having the serial code. Sure they requested it but once I told support I didn’t have it I was able to get help another way.
I play thief, a lot recently. It’s not my main by any means but I have some experience with them.
The only time I would consider PW OP is when you combine it with Venoms and Leeching Venom Trait. With high crit chance/damage I can pretty much spike most classes down to about ¼ of their hp with just 1 PW.
The only thing I would do to it is either take the evade out of it, or don’t make it a stun (which may not solve anything if people just use Basilisk Venom with it, and then it becomes the same as Blurred Frenzy from the Mesmer).
I believe the damage that it provides is fine, as it should be a high risk high reward skill. But with both a stun and an evade there isn’t much risk involved.
Craft leveling is not really worth it anymore, its so expensive to max out a crafting profession now, compared to like a year ago. Its going to cost you probably a couple hundred gold…
I put in a post about this about a month ago, hope this brings you up to speed on a lot of the changes.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/GW2-changes-by-past-year/first#post3544462
The changes that happened since then.
• The new WvW map has been released and is called Edge of the Mists. The WvW UI is updated as well.
• There is a new Wurm World Boss that is as hard to do as Tequatl
• They are taking out Glory from sPVP and the change is supposed to take place on 3/18/14.
(edited by CountzuCrytus.7256)
There are many ways to get high end gear.
• You can get it from drops in level 80 areas.
• You can buy armor for karma from temples in Orr
• Doing dungeons in explore mode and trading tokens in for armor
• Trading Badges of Honor for armor in WvW
• Crafting
• Buying items from Trading Posts
• Map Completion Rewards

I think people forget that you can change gold to gems. If you don’t want to spend real cash on it you don’t have to, just farm up the gold. It’s like buying an expensive armor skin, it doesn’t matter if you buy it from the gem store or from an NPC, you get the same result.
Hey, welcome to the game! Also, thanks for doing a bit of research as well
Warrior- I wouldn’t call them OP, they’re in a very good place now, they are very versatile and there are lots of different effective builds for them. They tend to do very well in all game modes. Warrior can be fun if played in the right setting.
Guardian- The 1st class I made in GW2 and I have somewhere around 700 hours or so on mine… I don’t play it much anymore as I’ve moved on to other classes. Guardian is a very party play oriented class. Guardian also has I would say the highest survivability in the game compared to others. Fights often tend to be battles of attrition and there arnt many builds that can outlast a good guardian.
Elementalist- Probably my favorite class currently, they are a lot of fun to play. They tend to be towards the bottom of the food chain as you call it, and people don’t play them as much anymore in pvp but it’s beautiful watching a skilled elementalist play.
Necromancers- Minion Masters as we call them, are only one build for them and is not the only build or way to play a necromancer. There are other much more fun ways as well. MM tends to be the meta at this time sadly.
As far as Engy’s go, I don’t play one… but from personal experience they can be VERY GOOD at 1v1s. There’s nothing more I hate fighting than a bunker (someone that holds down a point ) Engy in sPVP.
As far as thieves go, they are a class that is fairly easy to pick up but is hard to master and get good with. They are definitely viable in both sPVP and WvW. In wvw its hard to play a thief in a Zerg( Blob of people running around together killing stuff), so they are much better suited to play as a roamer or part of a small squad. Thief is a lot of fun to play at higher levels too, but can be somewhat of a pain to level in PVE, especially if it’s your 1st class.
Your best bet would be thief. To play thief successfully against well versed players you have to know their class in and out. You have to know how their builds work and exactly how to counter it. Thief may be one of the higher DPS classes out of the 3 but it’s also the least forgiving one. In PVP for every mistake you make you will be punished for it.
I’m not really a fan of this TBH. For some reason when I read that post in my mind I got the image of a Druid or a Spirit Shaman, and that isn’t what the ranger is about…
I heard that high toughness draws aggro, is that true? I don’t want to make my ele a high-priority target…
Somewhat, but there are other priority targets when it comes to aggro.
Aggro is determined by :
1.closest target to them
2.who is dealing damage
3.top damage dealers
4.who is using a shield / has more toughness and overall armor
5.others (see Tanking tactics below)
Can you tell us what you like in a class? And what you hate or what you were turned off by playing Warrior or Thief? Details would help us recommend something.
The age old debate, Vitality Vs Toughness…
My take on it is :
Most classes benefit better from toughness, because toughness benefits better form healing than vitality. Basically you won’t take as much damage, and will heal to full health a lot quicker and easier than you would with vitality build. So the small heals that you get in a toughness build will be a lot more significant, where as you may not even notice them in a Vitality build.
Does anyone know what the runes down the blade of infinite light mean? Or what alphabet they may be using? ( if any at all?)
Legendary is technically the highest tier not ascended. But you can only craft legendary weapons. The legendary ones share the same stats as Ascended so stat wise they are the same.
Ascended is tied for the highest stats right now. The armor/weapons are crafted while the trinkets can be bought with laurels and by doing FoTM. There is a way of obtaining the armor and weapons as drops in WvW by ranking up… but the chance of actually getting one is really small ( I wouldn’t bet my chances on it!).
They have increased crafting cap from 400 to 500 and once you reach the 500 cap you can craft ascended gear. TBH Ascended stats only have a slight advantage of exotics, I would say somewhere about a 5% increase in stats if you compare a full exotic set vs a full ascended set. Also it will take hundreds of gold to craft a set of armor and the crafting is time gated so will take you some time to do that as well.
Since you’re getting the mats, its not really hard to make the back piece, i would make it and bank it… u never know when you’re going to need a jetpack with spider legs!
All the back pieces are accountbound when created, so you cant trade them.
