All classes should be able to use all weapons with their own set of skills. We can understand why an elementalist wouldn’t use a heavy weapon like a 2H hammer, but let’s think again. Look at the mesmer for example, do you find strange that he can use a 2H sword ? No, because the mesmer uses 2H sword like a magical weapon, and we could do the exact same thing with all other weapons. Stafff for example, for warriors, could be used as melee fighting staff. 2H sword for elementalist could be used as a magical weapon. Rifle or bows for guardian could be used as support weapons or something else etc.. All classes could be able to use all weapons and at the same time the skills would stick to the spirit of that class. This would give a lot more different choices to players. What do you think ?

yes, exactly : being kicked by dishonest players and being kicked because the “leader” leaves the instances are two different issues, issues that anet has to fix, but i have very little expectations

take for example the spider queen in AC : after some many patches, they still didnt fix the fact that when you stack on that corner, the spider does not use AOE skills. Why no fix ? Why ?

Hello,
Why should the whole group be kicked if the opener gets out of the instance ? I don’t really understand the need for someone to be the owner/opener of an instance ? It looks like something they added in the code in the beginning which then became useless(I do a little coding and I understand this sort of program design problems). Or am I missing something and it is really useful ?

Do I really have to explain the results player collision would have on the whole dodge mechanic? So much of the combat in this game hinges on dodges and player collision would be a disaster. Even if dodging temporarily negated player collision you would get bounced all over the place when the dodge finished. Sounds horrible.

Well, it would work just like when you dodge against a wall, nothing more.

When I play my mesmer, what I feel I lack is more information about my current created illusions : mainly their hp and their type. So I would like to suggest that the 3 dots representing our current illusions be modified to represent their hp and type. For the hp, those dots could be small hp pools with only 4 states (100%hp, 75%, 50% and 25%), and for the type of illusions, they could have different colors or different forms : blue dots, red triangles, yellow squares etc.. And also, It would be great if we could have an indicator that shows us when is the illusion going to attack, maybe that dot starts to flash, or the outer boundaries of that dot starts to replenish(like boons and alterations).

What do you think ?

Funny, I’ve been meaning to make a topic for mini collectors to discuss their favourites and why they like them so much.

But you could say the same for most of the other rewards. I did the new story instance today and I got yet another back item skin. I have 5 characters and even I can’t use all the back skins I’ve gotten as rewards.

What’s the alternative? Give us something useful that’s not available elsewhere and people who missed out will complain. Give us something that is available elsewhere and it’s not much of a reward because most people who want it would already have it.

At least with minis people who do like them have a use for more than one or two and many of them can be sold if you’re not interested. (Personally I think they should all be tradeable so people who don’t like them can at least get some gold, but that’s a different topic.)

I don’t understand why people who miss things should have a right to complain ? The stuff is here for 2 or 4 weeks. and if you are talking about people who jump into the game 3 or 4 years after its release, then they have even less the right to complain.

And I am sure Anet can come with ideas for rewards, it’s not just like mini’s were the only possible reward. Give us an inventory slot for one char as reward for example. Give use for example something that is introduced in the gemstore…

Bottom line, for me, if you give me a mini as reward, I feel there is no reward at all.

Am I the only one who totally doesn’t care about minis ? I mean they are totally useless and aesthetically speaking they look like nothing. The problem is that we are receiving minis as rewards for living story achievements, as if EVERYONE wanted only minis, and I would love to have a choice between minis and something else as reward.

I don’t like minis, are you in the same situation ? Do you find strange players who want to have them all ? Speak up !

But, what is the purpose of pristine relics, apart from buying non infused rings ? My guess is that anet is going to remove pristine relics in the future.

hello,

I remember some mmos that I have played in which from time to time a gamemaster would incarnate a villain and fight against the players. I remember the mmo “Neocron” (cyberpunk setting) for example in which there was a recurring powerful bad guy who was appearing sometimes in the main city to attack players, there was also a developing story linked to that (someone he loved died and he decided it was the fault of the city and all its inhabitants).

I would love to see that in gw2. In fact if you told me you would pay me to incarnate ascalon catacombs kholer all day long and fight players I would enjoy that. But more realistically, I imagine that somewhere in the game world a boss incarnated by a gamemaster would appear and players would receive a notification, just like scarlet invasions. Concretely, that gamemaster would have access to a set of skills to defeat the players. There is also great potential for story development. What do you think ?

what ? getting a daily chest only requires you to do one lvl (say swamp), instead of having to do the the 4 levels and beat the boss level ? Or when you say “daily” you’re just referring to the achievement and not the daily bonus chest ?

Can we focus Living Story on more than PvE?

I think they could merge pvp and pve in one living story. Imagine a conflict or a dispute between the factions(order of whispers and the 2 others) over some matter and then players have to fight players of other factions in some new map or new big instance towards some goal.

Also I don’t like how in general in GW2 the “good guys” are always good guys and the “bad guys” are always bad guys.

I just found a solution. In the list of error codes that can be found here http://en.support.guildwars2.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/8994/~error-codes the solution is not listed under code 42 X X X but under code 21 X X X

Here is the solution :
add this :
/clientport 80
at the end of the shortcut’s target line, like this :

Hello,

I have stopped playing gw2 for some months. The launcher updated the game to version 20418, but I can’t login “an error occurred” and the error code is 42:1000:7006:888. I deleted the “local.dat” file, I also have tried with a different auth server “-authsrv 206.127.159.107”, but nothing works. Anyone in the same situation ? Is that because there is a new patch being dled by many people ? Any solution ? Thanks.

I love the idea of this as a collectible card game, but I HATE the idea of having to kill the same monster over and over again to get their card, especially if it’s a boss that I need to run a whole dungeon just to get one swing at.

Here’s a better idea for obtaining cards: when you kill enough monsters to get their related ‘slayer’ achievement, you get a booster pack containing all the cards relating to that group of monsters. So when you get “Bandit Slayer”, you get a pack of cards containing “Bandit Scout”, “Bandit Outlaw”, “Veteran Bandit Leader”, etc.

For dungeon bosses, you get their card after the first time you beat them. Or if we want this to be harder, you get cards for all bosses of a dungeon after you beat story + every explorable path of that dungeon once.

That’s how I would WANT to see it done. I know what would ACTUALLY happen is ANet would lock all the good cards behind a monster-killing-grind and then optionally let us buy them from the Gem Store instead. (And/or make us use a dumb Gem Store RNG to get them.) -__- This whole thing would just become total Gem Store fodder like the Wintersday minis were. Which is sad because if they did that I totally wouldn’t bother trying to participate in it.

I agree with you. More ways to acquire those cards and NO cash shop.

If you want to play the FF8 card game, then go play FF8? Not saying it to be mean but Guild Wars 2 has not gotten so stale that it needs to blatantly take portions of other games like FF or HoMM, given time they will add their own unique ideas. If I can interest you in some sarcasm, “Let’s add pokeballs or croquet, nobody will miss them.”

Can’t wait for their own in game minigame additions.

That could work too, but then you’d have to keep track of 9 separate additional currencies, which could get a bit complicated.

I don’t see why it would be more complicated than keeping track of actual items in an inventory slot.

Have you ever played final fantasy 8 ? In that game, every monster has a chance to drop a card which represents the monster when he is killed. Cards have strengths and weaknesses. Then there is a card game that you can play with most of the npc’s. I would love to see something like that implemented in GW2, where you could play with npc’s and of course with other players. There could be boss cards, important friendly npc’s cards and we can also imagine that a player would have the possibility to create a card which represents his own char, after a quest or something. In FF8, you can also destroy a card and receive items.

Wouldn’t that be wonderful ?

Hi,
would it be possible to add the option to limit the distance of ground targeting to the actual max distance of the skill ? I mean I am often trying to find the max range of a skill, for teleporting for example. With an option like that, I would just move the mouse away to the direction I want and activate the skill, knowing I am at max range without having to click 3 or 4 times until I find max range.
I can try to explain it in another way if it is not clear.

As far a we know, “magic find” could very well be another bugged feature. Look at all the exploits and bugs in more visible features (like a boss behavior), and now imagine all the bugs in more invisible features, like diminishing returns, magic find etc., bugs that we will never know about.

Really, because I tried it with 4 different groups all ready. We can never seem to get past the burrow mounds rush. We focus everything on the burrows, but still get over run every single time at around 80%.

quick advice for the gravelings burrows : have an elementalist spawn ice bows.

Why is it that the game is mainly focused on aesthetic choices, while at the same time there is not a lot of choices ?

So, here are some ideas :
- something that would make you deploy huge wings and fly to the sky when you teleport to a wp, and also when you arrive (could be a rare drop from a boss or champ, or bought with tokens, or mystic forge recipe…)
- auras and effects around your character that are linked to titles (each title would give a different aura/effect), also give the option to ppl to deactivate that in graphics options if they want to deactivate it in dungeons and such.
- give the possibility to players to customize the colour of their projectiles : for example I am a guardian and I would like the projectiles of the sceptre to look like pure white, or red ..
- Etc..

What are people’s thoughts ?

Having to wait more each time you die is a good idea, but it would be even better if that penalty is shared by the group; like it is said above. A bit like “tickets” in spvp.

Yes please. Make path 1 easymode faceroll, path 2 normal and path 3 ball-busting hard (in a good way) and scale the received tokens and dosh appropriately.

Frankly, when I first entered a dungeon, when I saw that there were 3 different paths, I thought that it was like you just said : p1 = easy, p2 = normal, and p3 = hard, and I have been very disappointed when I understood that it wasn’t the case.

The optional content you are looking for has been there all along. You have the option to make encounters harder/more difficult. Run dungeons solo, use less than optimal gear, use less than optimal stats, do higher level fractals w/less AR, don’t take advantage of exploits/skipping…the options go on and on.

Are you serious ? So, if I love boxing, and if I love a good challenge, I should fight my 6y old little brother with only one finger ? Where is the fun in that ? Where do I have to learn something ? Where do I have to become better than the opponent/machine ? Where is the progression ?

Anet is just throwing random stuff that they don’t take the time to properly think, and properly test. I wonder if there is at least one person at Anet who has a correct general idea of how the game is right now, of what the problems are, of what the players want and need. Frankly, they look like amateurs.

I think you’ve demonstrated the very reason they won’t allow them to be salvaged.

You have 20+ of them. If they allowed you to salvage for ectos, that’s 0-60 ectos. Multiply that by however many people have rings saved up and it’s quite an influx of ectos into the economy.

So, where do you see a problem ?
Do you see a problem in looting 20 rares and salvaging them for ectos ? This is the same, here. Anet should enable us to do SOMETHING with those : sell, salvage ect..

You have a chance for a ring on daily completion per tier, but it’s by no means guaranteed. I’ve only gotten 2 rings in the daily in over 60 dailies.

Then I have to say that you are reaaaaaally iiiiiiiiiinfinitely unlucky. 60 dailies and only 2 rings? Wow ^^
