While objectively you have a point, I’m under the impression you’re looking too far into this.
Well they could reduce their updates to once a month and never satisfy the expectations of their community, or they can keep up the bi weekly updates and never satisfy the expectations of their community.
You know what would be a great thing? More reasonable expectations of the community.
I’m not holding my breath on that though.
On a humorous note, this is one of those topics that shows that we complain about everything ain’t it?

I agree. I was wondering why they got so expensive…
Either raise the large potion to 5 hearts or reduce the price to 5 or 10 baubles.
I’d like an event fairy.
One that shouts “Hey! Listen!” every time a World boss is going to come up.

Aah, on Reddit. Of course, makes perfect sense. Where else could there be any communication?
And then some public shaming your community instead. Yea, I can see how this is going to keep being a thing.
I don’t even care what the message is, i’m not interested either way. But the sheer disrespect in the medium they choose to communicate and public assault on their customers is frankly unbelievable.

Awkward… in more than one way.
Can I just say, after HOT release this forum has been so negative, you guys set your hopes too high. And, to the people who have 30+ mastery points and have finished the story, you need to stop rushing things. One other thing, THE STORY HAS BEEN RUINED FOR ME, because SOME people don’t put spoiler tags on the spoilers. So thanks, ?I now know the ending.
Oh my dear BaconReaper, you should know better than to visit a forum if you want to avoid spoilers, you really should. But the silver lining is that now you do know.
Also thank you for your topic, I am ever such a fan of irony.
I have to voice my opinion on this ‘new trait system makes it easier for people to understand’ argument. It’s rubbish.
Seriously, to whoever though this up, what time and age do you think we live in? Were you raised in the Sierra games period perhaps, where forgetting to pick up an inconspicuous piece of cheese would result in permanent game over 3 stages later, all the while without any hints or online guides to help you?
Because we don’t live in that age any more. We live in the now, the now in which there is a tutorial for every trivial, menial task one could ever come across. And we know it, because most of us spend over half our day online, via pc or smart-phone.
It’s downright insulting to think that a large percentage of players would have had trouble figuring out how trait points used to work. And even if we assume that this is so, which is asinine, then giving us the choice to change our traits at any time, free of charge would have been the fix all along.
I’m sure there are reasons for these changes, but the ones I’ve been given are really lacklustre.
Also, I have to wonder how large this group of struggling people must have been for you to change the trait system for, considering you apparently care diddly-squat for the significantly sized RP community.
What mostly angers me is not as much the decisions made as the inadequate, if existing, justification of the changes. For some reason I feel like I’m constantly being lied to or deceived, and when people are calling them out on it there’s only silence.

A Fresh Start could possibly be a reset for the Glicko rating or rebalancing world WvW populations?
Improvements for new players and veterans alike.
Oh I shudder to think what devilish schemes they are plotting this time. The last improvement for new players and veterans was the change to traits. Oh yes, the enjoyment of levelling improved by leaps and bounds that time…
People are going to be so disappointed by the Abaddon Fractal. It’s inevitable with the insanely unrealistic expectations people have.
Makes me feel sorry for the team that will have to develop it…
So you have to run level 1 of fractals, something easier than most dungeon paths, five days in a row out of the obligatory 21 days it takes to fully craft the backpack, assuming we don’t buy anything. Big deal.
In the end it is an ascended piece of armor and a bonus item. It takes a long time to craft other ascended equipment too.
I’m sorry but I just can’t take your complaints seriously. If you don’t want to make the backpiece, but you want the bloodstone dust eating plant, then you make it for that. The backpiece is a bonus item for you.
If you don’t want to play Fractals, well I’m sorry but you’ll just have to suck it up. The item only asks for 5 successful completions of Fractals. Any weapon that needs a certain dungeon gift requires 8-9 successful runs of that dungeon.
It’s is not that bad. I barely touched Fractals before and I gathered my mist stone by doing a daily low level run. In the process I tried something “new”, which I’m sure was their intention.
TLDR: The ability to trade in your Bloodstone dust for loot shouldn’t be made available only to those who finish the back piece, it should be available to everyone.
So what? Everyone should get a mail with this item, just like that? Or maybe you’d prefer it being a Gemstore item?
Meanwhile, complaints keep popping up that there is nothing to do, or work towards in the game.
I respectfully disagree. I had a blast watching the lazy farmers getting blasted yesterday. The encounter went something like this:
Boss: Flame Elemental
The clean-up is almost complete and I observe the regular posse of warriors migrate to the centre of the room. So, helpful as I am, I tell them in chat that the new boss will burn anyone too close to it.
Obviously I get ignored. With a couple of seconds left before the abomination appears I repeat my warning, only to be mocked.
And so the Fire Elemental appears, swiftly burns the whole group to a crisp in a couple of seconds and the rest of the fight gets accompanied by comments like:
“What is this crap!”
“This is too much!”
“OMG, another part of the game ruined, thanks Anet!”
“This sucks!”
No gentlemen, you suck!
I got much more enjoyment out of that than I should have really.
I am so excited about this exciting blog post of excitingness!
You see, for years I have struggled, often crying myself to sleep at night, with my failure to teach my dog how to play Guild Wars 2.
As clever of a girl she is, she just couldn’t grasp that downed state. It was just too overwhelming. But now I see the light at the end of the tunnel! Thanks to these wonderful features coming in September, I can finally explore Tyria with my best canine friend.
In fact, I’m sure if I can convince a couple of chickens from the neighbourhood to pick up the game, we could even form a dungeon team in a couple of weeks. It’s just that easy!
…
Tsssk, as a veteran I have to say fowl play Anet. At this point, do you give a cluck about us still? Because you’re really ruffling some feathers.
She likes her men hot too, preferably around boiling point.
…Go do XXX content, get a “You completed XXX, congratulations!” …
my girlfriend never says: congratulations when we complete xxx content
Sounds to me like you’re getting bronze, maybe even silver, but haven’t quite reached gold on that event yet.
I know right, it’s surreal.
Clearly, this makes the game pay 2 win.
A rich guy can make a new char and instantly get an outstanding hair-fashion advantage. Everyone will say “oh! just look at his hair! we’ll kick that unstylish guy from the team and take him”.
I’d suggest a full-out forum riot over this.
LFM Arah explorable, must have special hair.
10 000 drinks… Sometimes I wonder if the people making this game still have some sense of reality…
They arent real people…
I take it you don’t really get into character much.
I’m appaled by the arrogance of your line of thought OP. In fact it’s a trend I see all over this forum now that the results are in.
The fact of the matter is that the Abaddon fractal would have given no new insights at all, while the reactor is an open box with endless possibilities. It’s just that the majority of the bunch doesn’t seem to have the creativity to see this potential and was blinded by the ‘epicness’ of a god battle.
Pfffsh, I’m glad we’re having this now anyway, because if Evon had won, the excrement would have hit the fan once his unimpressive fractal smashed all the unrealistic expectations of the ‘hardcore’ voters. At least now people already assume the fractal will suck so it can only get better from here on out.
The Revenants tried to hit the underwater enemies, but they mist…
Or people could chill out about losing a few minutes on a run. That would be even better I’m sure.
Ironically, I often find “fast, zerk, random amount AP” groups to be the ones performing poorly.
… So much pun to make …
Personally I don’t mind them releasing new skins. If the animation is the only thing that differs then complaining by the people owning a molten pick would just be nitpicking.
However, if they are cheaper or gasp account bound, then yes, they would have a bone to pick with Anet.

Anet’s goals seem a bit scrambled, but the yoke is on us.
Eggcelent summary!
Not including a character slot in the base package is nothing more than a blatant money grab. Can we please stop trying to justify it as anything else?
I haven’t seen a single other valid reason why a character slot should not have been included.
People who are defending this choice, what possible advantage do you have in this? Adding an extra slot has no negative impact on anyone, not even those who already have maxed the character slot capacity. So why fight against it?

I was baffled by their lack of understanding.
“It’s the least played race”
Yes because pretty much everything you have looks horrible on them!
“So they’re not a priority.”
facepalm
I doubt these will be rolled back. I’m fairly certain it’s one of those “suck it up, kitties” updates.
I used to think that the whole mess would calm down in a few days/weeks and all would return to normal, but I’m not so sure anymore. The cracks in the foundation are getting too big to fix with a little coat of paint.
For instance, I should have 3 of the jade weapons, and almost all of the original super blue weapons in my wardrobe, but I lost them all because the wardrobe wasn’t out at the time, and I swapped those skins for others using the old fine xmute stones. Some of those skins I lost are now going for thousands of gold, and the chances I get to get another shot at them are slim.
Anyone else frustrated at this? Any Anet employee want to give some info on if this will ever be rectified, or if these skins will be easily attainable again?
As a simple neutral observation, at the moment you swapped out those skins using transmutation stones, you most likely willingly forfeited that skin. A significant time later you complain that you have lost that skin.
I understand your frustration, but I feel that we all already knew that these skins would be valuable at the time they were released. I know I kept those I got around as weapons. I’m afraid there is little to no way of proving you had them at this point…
I think it’s very nice of you to share your opinion with all of us.
“Moving on.”
I doubt it. Once they go with something they often stubbornly stick with it.
“How do you distinguish yourself in this game?”
With fashion sense, something few players seem to have.
Well he is salty…
This is worthy of an alcoholic beverage (curse you censor):
A Tequila Sunless
2 parts tequila
4 parts grape juice (blue)
1 part green grenadine
Ice
Mmmm, to un-die for!

How monotone, like literally.
Anyway, I’m sorry but I have other priorities to work for. If I want fifty shades of gray I’ll buy the book.
It annoyed me to no end that my pc and Marjory glaced at this drawing and immediately concluded that this is a schematic on Ley lines with the Pale Tree in the center.
I’m sorry, when did we become experts on Ley lines and obscure symbolic drawings again?
Well here’s to hoping that Charr don’t get too many traits from cats. That could get… uncomfortable…
Anything but the return of the Greatsaw ¬.¬
I concur, but only so i can continue to go for weeks at a time without seeing anyone else using it and still get whispers asking me where i got something so awesome
How egocentric!
Yea me too![/secret order of the greatsaw handshake]
It’s like a regular handshake, but without the hands.
Well you can take that approach or you could have edited your original post to make it more appealing and make everyone eat their words.
But if you want to act, as you put it, bum hurt, by all means.
Why should these materials be tied to a way of playing anyway? Shouldn’t we be stimulated to play how we want to?
So do away with the whole thing and change every dust/fragment/ore drop into an ascended grab bag that generates an amount of a random selected material.
They can still adapt the amount of bags you get per piece of content, or make small/medium/large versions. At least everything has a equal chance to contribute and we won’t have these outrageous differences in availability any more.
You think dragonite ore should drop from the sky on an hourly basis in order to accomodate the players that only wish to stand in Lion’s Arch and chat.
That would destroy this game if Anet did that. I don’t understand why you think people should gain loot just by standing and chatting in Lion’s Arch. Really, you’re taking the “play the way you want” thing way too far.
Don’t be ridiculous. You’re pulling my first sentence completely out of context to make an asinine point. Did I say you should get everything for free? I did not.
The ascended raw materials are far from the most limited factor of ascended crafting. What I am suggesting is a way to balance the ways of gaining all three components. Yes that would make dragonite ore more common, but it would also make bloodstone dust less common. You still need to play the game to gain them, but you can choose what you want to or can do.
Champ bags would give little materials, dungeons would give more and high end world bosses would give the most. But if you can’t do those because they smoke your pc, or you can’t fit them in your schedule, then at least you have other options.
So, let me flip the questions around and ask why it should be that dragonite ore should be much more limited in gain than the other materials, effectively shutting some players out of that source?

Everyone should be white and shiny and nobody can possibly be hurt!

I would like to echo most everyone’s sentiments here. 10000 drinks is a totally mean spirited way for us to earn the brand new shoulders.
Hohoho! Well played, I say!
Goodness, here we go again…
I wonder, did all you kiddies throw such a tantrum as well when you realised Santa Claus isn't real?

No – and this thread is beating a dead mount.
