we went from “staff dagger” to “axe staff” to “axe dagger” to “axe greatsword” in terms of weapon importance

dagger is simply behind all the power creep.
staffs deals even less damage, lifeforce and cleanse is better covered with utilities

For PVE, more damage.

gs1 = 20k
gs2 spam = 30k
shroud 1 = 20k

Those are rough numbers afaik. Id like A LOT more dps on shroud to make use of the traits as well as having a mega hurr durr mode that is equal to thief just autoatacking is also lame. I know its not coeficents but lack of modifiers, just do it Anet.

For PVP , remove clunk

gs1 – can be faster but ok

gs2 – 1s superspeed so you cant casualy out walk the horror monster. also bigger range like warrior greatsword spin 1-shot had 600 RANGE its now 300

gs3 – make it teleport 600 range to target , liek guard sword , maybe root for cast so its like 400 range effective

gs4 – ok

gs5 – copy paste replace it with guard gs5 pull. its shame of wasted work to design new tech, proudly present it. and it being a useless unreliable scam, not even a diceroll
basically make the skill work as it should

GS is decent but mostly cz other stuff makes you a freekill

There’s always the flesh wurm+spectral walk trick, functions similarly to a thief’s shadow step stomp but uses 2x the utility slots.

it was swag some time ago, now both utilities are trash and theres just sooo much that will still interupt or instacleave you its not even funny.

you may even kill yourself for 10k porting through a trap

Any long and strong cooldown belongs in the elite slot. Boring, but theres no way you can give up 1/3 utilities.

Unless MAAAYBE on guard – where your elite can be viewed as a short CD utility (the quicknes shout)… necro doesnt have such elite nor does the class balance suggesnt anytime necro not needing 3 utilities.

Its still a trash failed skill by design.

In PVE you want to avoid the slow and big hits.

In PVP its again garbage, whoever wants to get hit there? it prevents recovery while kiting, and it only looks “good” because our other heals have a 99% chance to get interupted, because anet cant give us nice things.

In PVE DPS-race aka raids, is only mode where you can even use the stupid ICD stacks , and there isnt not worth the dps loss, or the pathetic group heal.

The skill has always been a “mini corupt boon for price of 0 healing” with actual healing skill being “lucost signet + dagger” in cele builds

The skill is not worthy of triggering “on heal” runes.

I’ve always wanted it to be a life steal on hit passive, rather than a kittenty version of Healing Signet.

the bunker/support role build of the scourge was amazing

holding 1v3 a point with barriers , amazing res with teleport…. new support in the house.

the condi dmg stacking is too high with burning atm.

I did it too but that is only vs bad players testing beta builds without amulets probably.

Against real players i still often “random died” because of no stab, no enemy scourge. I also think id almost instadie against a ton normal mettabattle builds.

That is without mentioning how much slower a support necro is, and how little utility it brings compared to lets say druid.

Its only benefit is that it may be good at silver/gold level of play and facetanking with group – instead of coordinating stealth for ex.

Plaguelands should definetly have some defense in it.

The new elite is perfect for offense with its lower CD. if it moved with necro itd be even better

But back to plague.
IT USED TO BE THE DEFENSIVE ULTI.
Its fair design to have defenses higher cooldowns.
Our corruption cloud already kills projectiles, a good defense to an otherwise offensive skill group, as example.

I dont want to sound like a nostalgist, but id definetly want some pulsing blinds to synergize with other traits.

All anet devs are part of an extremist casualist cult, which duels on keep with bad builds to determine balance.

They also rather fund the cult than hire new workers, who could do real work like animation speedups and skill functionality changes.

-Make power reaper better , ex. the onsluaght GM trait would get its 5s bonus everytime the CHARGE HITS. so you could really keep charging chasing but still melee and no chill trait
-Make scourge have less condi burst but more support and survival
THeres been decent power build promise with scourge, just conid had oneshot bomb, the main drawback is our lackluster power weapons

1) Scourge has too much damage.
Every 16s + 60s you brute force a decap. Outside this period it is useless and is freekill.

2) I dont like 2/3 of scourge damage comes from specific combo of 2x GM traits, rather than actual abilities.
it pigeonholes buid choices, as well as keeps other playstyles and abilities underpowered

3) I think scourge needs dmg nerfs and support buffs.
Damage should be moved away from dhuumfire procs and become more allround even for non dumbfire builds.

The barrier support actually feels like something. We can do a weaker version power rezz of druid/scrapper + we can offer some “healing and cleanse” like tempest.
Now compared to above 3 we still lack: self survival, passive heal while kiting, mobility, general utility like stealth+reflect+blasts

4) Holosmith + rocket boots = nike warrior
The in-out playstyle is probably incredibly fun and not every casual clicker dev playtesting duels at keep may pull it off.
Still , I dont like being on recieving end of superspeed + stiblity. There is little counterplay as the designed ways of chills and pulls are all stupidly unrealable.
Its worse than fighting a thief

5) Holosmith damage is maybe okay
Not dodging and tanking all the big stuff was a given this weekend. So maybe few % changes

I think in organized play, scourge should be better.
Reason: its stupid damage basically it can force a decap with cleave alone, every 16s + 60s

then its a freekill for another 16s

Im asking because i saw some WVW guy show a graph of his zerg dmg

2/3 was burning
1/3 was torment
10% was power dmg of minfest shade
all other condies did around 5% each

with such dependance on a specific combo of 2 GM traits , and the bariers not scalling with a bigger shade, i dont really the all out dmg gimmick and would prefer more support

Before you dive into this argument, I’ll remind you that ArenaNet promised some changes to Reaper in the very near future to convert it to a Power-only spec (right now the best damage comes from using Deathly Chill and running conditions).

gave us an actual GS trait, you think they will do more in 1-month with the focus being on new xpac?

I think reaper is now what it is, and like base necro will stay so for next 2 years.
We only get to give some feedback for fast 1-month tweaks to new stuff.

Hello.

So far I am heavily dissapointed with this trait / mechanic. Why does it even say it counts as 3x shades?

  • The only real benefit is lower cooldown, which HAS TO be comboed with another summon trait to take advantage off.
  • No triple damage or triple ammount of barrier/cleanses (dmg op, but for barriers I wouldnt mind healing 5k per 10s) … I know its for minor traits – but a better uptime is not a GM worthy mechanic changer
  • 3shade + you hits 15+5 poeple…. big shade + you hits 10+5
  • its a bit easier to hit…(IF youre invested in the summon proc) … waow

IDEAS:

  • Id take a small BUT STRONKer shade aka “ventari tablet”. 3x cleanse and 5k barier, small but movable…. for damage it would also be ok if only the summon trait procced 3x corupts

I go viper, nightmare runes, scept/torch (smolder/agony) staff (energy/annulment) and curses 1-3-2 sr 2-2-3 scourge 2-2-2. Sand flare, Dessicate, Spectral Wall, Trail of anguish, Ghastly Breach; this is for pvp/damage in general and relies on fears and its own burns to stay alive.
Serpent siphon looks like some kind of joke to me. Can someone explain who would pick serpent siphon?

Bro, i think you need more dmg in your build.

Try ditching soul marks for some vuln.

Passive plague signet VS. fear torment = fear torment proly winner

Contagion VS. Enfeeble = i like the heal yesterday , tho weakness and bigger bomb may be better

Soul mark VS. swiftness = think sou marks more alround, unless you against druids immobing you , so far there isnt a synergy rune so traveler rune is free to take

Scourge T1 Adepts – torch trait is trash, i took the secure lifeforce, cleanse may be viable too

Scourge T2 Masters – id like to take the other but so far I always had 3x punisments, they stunbreak+mobility+do dmg , i find that value hard to beat with other BASE utilitys.
Maybe shouts id take the classic heal+suffer , but base you only get a choice of spectrals and corruptions

IMHO, if you’re not using the fall trait, you’re doing it wrong. They specifically changed it last balance patch just for Scourge.

Yea, wasnt focusing on that choice yesterday.

Like others said, with lifeforce and cleanse managment, theres option in the non grandmasters.
Passive plague signet on carrion is very clunky and situational, but dont forget fear→torment→burn only further pigeonholes on the proc trait, so itll be nerfed and whined about like with chill.

Soulreaping is unavoidable MUST PICK , vital persistance cooldowns are must for spaming f2-5.

Will proly get nerfed badly, since majority of damage comes from dhuumfire hitting on every skill , especially the pulsing one.

Hello.

I am asking if anyone else feels like necro is lacking a 2nd condi MAINHAND weapon?

Staff is a 2hander, and a hybrid utility thing.
Some try using scepter twice others are forced into CARRION with axe, and it imo feels like youre spreading your traits too far out.

So,
scourge new offhand basically offers nothing new compared to warhorn. DMG + AOE CC.
No cleanse tranfser, lifeforce, boonrip, block or similiar.

Wouldnt it be better if you could run scepter warhorn + xxx torch ?
With axe youre stuck with carrion, or sages for barrier scalling

PVP looked garbage to me.

The biggest problem is lifeforce.
I always encouraged a normaliazation of extreme min/max LF scenarios , like always 50% OOC. Not counting the losing LF on respawn bugs and it being such a snowball system.

Im am legit worried they tried to scam us:

  • they used a power weapon on condi build to allow the unrealistic low CD spam
  • the power weapon of dagger is trash, since HOTcreep you can barely land a single hit – OUR ENTIRE LIFEFORCE DEPENDS ON SHOUT HEAL, GREATSWORD COMBO AND TRAIT PROCS
  • THEY USED LIFEFORCE FROM DYING GOLEMS, AGAIN UNICORN FANTASY

A true 1v1 1v2 bunker and decaper existed, it was decap engie and later turret engie.
it was the biggest worst trash thing in history.

The next best thing were good duelist builds, but they took longer and were mostly killable 1v2.

Then theres support bunkers. Theyre teamfight supporters, so they never actually want to be alone. The good side is they take a while to get killed, both 1v1 or in teamifghts, so theyre not worth as the first target , unless in extreme case of steal+moa bursting the main support to end the fight before it starts.

…now to necro

Basically necro has 0.
It doesnt have anything survivable and its support is trash. Its 100% offense. A glass necro dies in 20seconds , while a full bunker necro dies in 30s (the bunker necro also does 0 support for rest of allies)

The only thing you can do is win vs terrible players, if
- you play bunker necro
- they 1v2 focus you for a while
- during that time your team manages to win some 3v2
- they dodnt notice youre useless for whole game and they dont leave you in any 1v1, which youd all lose eventually

P.S.
New spec is support oriented, we may see some condi/healigpower use for it.

the 1% of lifeforce makes all the difference.

yesterday it felt signet builds + SR power + SR condi builds + RIP base power PVE builds were all gutted.

Basically every build felt like a glassy procmancer, which would then be only viable thing left…. burst lf gain and burst lf loss

Now they all fell same with normal ok lifeforce, like even on base condi you now have time to get more than 3x autos off

vs.

spammable cover condi and ability to do 25% more damage on the main cleave combo

….
The cleanse minor isnt bad, but if its gonna be used it with smappamble low CD shout heal and maaaaaaaaybe with traited coruptions, as it removes the annoying blind on CoCo.
