First off – The Soulbeast’s fusion effect (Also known as “Fartshroud”) should probably be changed/removed/used only in the initial fusion and on splitting, with something less offensive to fashion wars in its place while it’s in operation. As a fashion warrior, I’ll also admit I’m not a fan of the forced bladetrail effects for Soulbeast and Spellbreaker daggers.

I think the Charr soulbeast animations need a complete overhaul – Charr have horns, tails, teeth, and claws, and should use them as their beast companions normally do (Or improve on their beast when possible) Some of these suggestions would also work for non-charr, who have similarly underwhelming animations:

Feline Skills:
Bite: Currently, the animation is… open-palmed punches? No. We have massive teeth and jaws, and should actually be able to use them. It may require tweaking of another skill or animation, such as one of the many roars
Maul: Currently it’s a double-swipe with one hand, and rather lame-looking, even for a single use. Re-use the Norn Snow Leopard transforms Auotattack. Let us rip and tear with our claws! In fact, the Snow Leopard form animations can be used for a lot of these animations, since it seems to use the Charr rig.

Devourer Skills: Alright, I admit I was hyped when they explicitly mentioned the devourer in the blog: They remembered my favorite pet! But unfortunately, the skills are lackluster.
Tail Lash- Currently, this is the wimpiest swipe/punch/uppercut I think I’ve ever seen animated outside of cheap early 3-D indi attempts at games. Sorry, but it is. It should use a larger, more dramatic animation – possibly unique. Unfortunately, Charr tails don’t arch over their heads. Therefore – we’re going to have to backflip! Other races could possibly get away with having a two-foot kick in the flip. But the current animation is terrible.
Devourer Retreat: Pirouette into the ground and pop up somewhere else? That’s not right! It should be a quick duck, followed by the tunneling to the exit and popping out again!

Bear Skills:
Again, we have Bite. It should be an actual bite, not that open-palmed punch
While not mandatory, a full-body flex would probably look better for Defy Pain.

Canine Skills:
Crippling leap: The “Two hands brought down” was dumb when Oblivion had it in 2006, and it’s dumb here. Honestly, re-using Snow Leopard skill 3’s animation would look better.
Brutal Charge: It’s a wierd, glidey kick that looks terrible. The Wolf itself lunges with its jaws. The Charr should likewise use their head- we even have horns! Re-using the Warrior’s Headbutt animation would be better than the current kick.

Drake skills:
Chomp: Again – we have teeth. Let’s use them, instead of this wierd, slow punch/swipe thing.
Tail Swipe: This is a wierd animation, and I think it distorts the body. An actual tail-swipe for Charr, and a Chuck Norris Roudhouse Kick (With the burst on the ground) for non-charr would be an improvement, IMO.

Bird Skills:
Swoop: Again with the overhead double-smash? I was hoping for something more agile and more or less floaty… though I guess Dagger 3 already stole whatever it could have been.

Spider Skills:
Okay, I’m at a loss for these. They look terrible (Just throwing something), but I have no idea what they could be.

Porcine Skills: OKAY SO THIS IS WHERE ALL THE COOLANIMATONS ARE HIDING! Brutal Charge should finish with a headbutt instead of a kick, though. We may not have tusks, but we do have horns.

Wyvern Skills:
Again with the Tail Lash – I’d rather it be an actual tail lash instead of this wierd, glitchy multispin.
Wing Buffet: This one needs to be reworked for all races. We should leap up with our arms oustretched for balance (Like the Crane pose from Karate Kid), and kick with both legs to knock our enemies back!

The bristleback skill is fun and fine.

The Smokescale’s Smoke assault is fine, but the Takedown sounds like it should be a tackle with both arms outstretched., not Yet Another Kick.

Jacaranda: These skills might look better as a spit instead of a throw, but possibly not.

Rock Gazelle: Finally! Animations that match our attacks! Just… bring the head down a bit more for Charr, so we’re slamming with our horns (Except for the minority of horns that are front-facing instead of top-covering or back-facing)

Suggestion: Make Multi-Guild Optional

Dear Fellow Guild Leaders & People who enjoy being in Guilds,

Enjoying freedom of “choice” of up to 5 Guilds is great for players!

Especially if they want to join a family Guild, make their own Guild, join a friends Guild, or join wvw/pve/raid/RP/pvp focused only Guild.

Now, there’s something missing here… for the bigger all rounder Guilds & Guild Leader/Officers…

And that is loyalty!

I would argue that people can be loyal to multiple Guilds, just like in some “cultures” people are ok, with multiple wives or husbands – I’m cool with that, its their choice.

But, GW2 has taken the choice away from the officers and leader of the Guild as to the way they’d like to manage their Guild.

Some Guild leaders may embrace open guilds, some might say rep us only! or some might not even care… and it shows in their effort towards their guilds too.

So… what to do, to make everyone happy?

Anyone can start a Guild and join one that they would like, if they can’t find one they like-they can start it but to force a Guild Leader to multi Guild due to peer pressure or due to that’s just the way it is – is well, not fair.

If someone decided to make for instance an all aspect full services Guild, it is VERY hard for that Guild to manage or undue admin burden to keep members not secretly multi guilding, since they can still rep and have other guilds they follow…

Yes, I read all the arguments for both why and why not – I understand both sides of the coin, with an open and a closed system, but hear me out:

  • What if, Guild leaders have the ability to tick a box allowing or disallowing members to multi Guild?
  • This give the Guild leader the freedom to choose, his Guild’s own fate.
  • Players who enjoy multi guilds can still do so, and players who prefer closed tight knit groups (possibly of higher quality) closed guilds, now have the option of doing so.
  • Then also, if possible, to allow the Leader to also choose complete multi Guilding or only allowing specific Guilds to be allied with. That way agreements can be made, alliances, and more structure if say a guild does not want complete multi guilding, but outsourcing their raids to a raid only guild or wvw only guild etc.

What do you think?

[Edit: Good point – there are those who have storage or dormant guilds: Solution, the Guild leader can tick a box next to their name on case-bycase basis for exption to the global policy, or to grant x access to x Guild: Be it bank Guild, family guild, etc.]

It helps to “regulate” the market for the Guild leader of his own Guild so to say, it places a fair balance in the players hands and the Guild ledaer"s"

Players can walk with their feet and join up to full spectrum/open multi guilds, or they could make due with the rules, of x Guild’s policy-No one is forcing them to join that spesfic Guild. People can then either advertise Open Guild/Closed Guild/Semi-Opened Guild in map chat.

[Edit: Please indicate if you’re a Guild leader/officer or a regular member and tell us a lil bit about your Guild, and its setup-is it 100% rep, allied, mixed, free for all open?-When you make a post.]

Thank you for your input even if it is Yay or Nay.

The thing a lot of people are forgetting here is that if you allow pet swapping while in Beastmode, you’re going to need visual tells for the enemy (PvP/WvW).

If ANet were to allow this, they would need something like an icon that shows what pet you’re currently attuned to (like Revenant and Legends) or some kind of animation like the spirit of the pet appearing above you.

You can’t just swap pets without allowing people to know what you’ve swapped to or it lacks counterplay.

Charr faces/hairs/horns in dire need

i’d like:

For HORNS:

  • Red deer/Mule deer inspired Antlers
  • Ram inspired horns
  • Gazelle Inspired, tvisted/spirally horns

For FACES: More feline faces for male charr, less ugly-dog-like. I’d like to see faces inspired by Sabretooth tiger and Lion. *By mixing/morphing the feline features with Deer/Goat Facial features I think we could get a suitable more slender charr face. Also I’d like to see male charr with only the canines sticking out (like many female charr have) and not like today… all teeth pointing everywhere or all hidden.

For HAIRSTYLES: Less goofy and huge (espacially among male charr) – we have had enough of that already. Fine detailed like the last setup for humans. Braided and dreaded in different styles. Some with feathers in it maybe (all we have now is bones and random metal junk).

For FUR PATTERNS: Oryx Inspired fur pattern!! I’m so missing something like that!

You, I like you.

http://wallpapercave.com/wp/1OTVP9r.jpg Id love to be able to make my male charr have this face, with long eye-teeth like a sabertooth tiger.

They do need more feline faces on both genders, Because yes they do look almost doglike. Just because they are Charr and Not cat’s does not mean we cant have more feline like faces, with better hair/manes. New detailed horns are a must, I Feel like we could really get some great stuff with how all the new stuff looks.

Id really like to make a legit Lion for the desert, but at this point its kind of a pipe dream…

Yeah i totally agree, charrs need more options….

after i changed my class (i must change my class….before i was 3 years a mesmer…but after that last patch my heal feels broken ( i used the mantra and had fun…but now thief makes more fun)…and after playing so long a sylvari i choose to play my female charr thief that was created at the same time as my mesmer…but never really played….

and i must say: i really, really, really love the charr, but the options are not really great i just found 1 combination from hair / horns and faces that i really liked….and i was like: wow sylvari had so much options and i could not decide and here it is like: oh just 1 option that i liked? need more…

also i wish we had more cultural options AND some changes to existing armor….the tail is often clipping through the armor….so that my options for non clipping things is limited….(but this game has great armors, just…not for my now loved charr…..)

Most (but not all ) outfits have no clipping at the tail and i really love that…also: we have 2 outfits that look different on each race (wedding, cook) and i thought: why they dont make some armor that has the same effect? So that every race can wear it and it looks different on each race (and not like you click to look what it looks like and then see that only “that race” can wear it….and not your race)….

But yeah: more options for charr please.

10/10 do want, if they can make stuff actually fit on the new faces. most of the helmets dont fit properly(eye slits above the eyes, floating helmets etc) whee…

The pvp community reminds me of what Obi-kittenenobi describes Mos Eisley as from star wars.

I feel like this game lacks something...

I was so hyped to buy PoF, but then I saw a topic “New Faces in makeover kit” – human only… Now I think all armors in PoF will be human only too (like usual)

It’s so sad that charr (especially charr) and asura players are always left behind since launch.

My first ever toon was a female Charr. I regret deleting her. Despite the clipping and awkward armor skins on them they’re still my favorite race. Would love to see new Charr horns/hairstyles that are more natural. I would like to see a tiger face! I don’t think any of the male ones have a tiger theme. There was one that looked kind of like a lion. Anyway, look forward to any new features for Charr.

as for Faces/Hair , after the first 2 Batches everything else became just silly …and not “Ha Ha” silly but just “WTF you doing Anet” silly. you guys wanna sell Makeover Kits ? then bloody add stuff thats not ripped out a Anime, or Looks ok but slams its face through 90% of all Headware

Why cant we have cool pets?

in Ranger

Posted by: Thornwolf.9721

Thornwolf.9721

The new ones are bleh, Hot’s were bleh and the original ones were ok but not that awe-inspiring. This is a magical world with monsters, and beasts from mythology ect ect and yet we are stuck with either basic animals. Or what appears to be elementals who we have tamed? A rock deer? A plant snake? Or floating hedge? Come on really?

I know they are probably gonna be cool in the damage department, probably be interesting skill wise. But when I look at them I dont get the “I need to tame this right now, I want it.”. I mean I flipped my kitten when I heard that we were getting dinosaurs in HoT and then I was sad to see a predator dog, and a turtle were it. The freaking tiger ended up being the best addition? My point is The crystal desert has a number of creatures who could of fit the role of pets better than these ones.

Dune lizards, Hydra’s, Those new land-sharks pulled right out of monster hunter, some other beasts and hell maybe even the worms we tamed in the desolation. All of these could of been cool pets, and yet we get this crap. I main/play a ranger for the pets, and to be a beastmaster not to fuse with them. But now im glad I get to fuse with them, because I wont have to look at these stupid ass animals. Im so dissapointed, I was expecting so many cool things and all we get are some rock/plant creatures. Like I have had enough plant/rock monsters, I had enough in HoT. I wanted some monsters so I could be like “Yeah look at my pet, Now this is cool and feels like it would work”. Im going against a god of war, and I am totally gonna throw a kittening rock deer at him. Or a sand lion, Like really a SAND LION. Or a little plant snake, who is so small that it feels like he would be more annoying than anything else.

I dont know if anyone else is upset about the pets we are getting, people probably are gonna be like. “Get over it, re-roll and play something else.” But It’s one of those, I love my ranger and I feel to me they are the coolest class. I love having a pet, and running in tandem with it… and now im being pushed into this mess? First they tried to push us into being a healer, now they are pushing us into being a half thief. If I wanted to be petless I would of made one of the other class’s. But with these new pets Im feeling sort of like “They made these pets this way, so people would want to fuse with them.” Because no one is going to care about these, they are just so underwhelming theme wise and feel uninspired.

It would also be cool to get some gw1 style armour: https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Ranger_armor

I agree though, the Ranger style of armour is lacking and makes me glad I rolled a Sylvari because I can avoid the poor armour choices via the cultural sets.

Unidentified gear, why, oh why? It is a redundant RNG throwback to old style action RPGs that serves no purpose in Guild Wars, just adds to tedium and annoyance. Please remove it from PoF release.

Except it was in Guild Wars since inception.

I like it, personally. Saves space.

Good luck.

I feel the same way. I also rarely if ever post here.

I was one of those vocal players against mounts, and to be honest, I am still against them in Guild Wars. Never needed them in GW1, nor in GW2.

But this? These mounts are amazing. They feel like beasts you ride, they serve a function and have personality. (As a dog person…that raptor is absolutely fantastic)

You dismount them for interaction and the way the raptor winds up to throttle into full speed, then slides a bit when stopping…absolutely fantastic, and this is what I think is mounts done right. Better than any MMO.

I really hope the Anet team doesn’t change the above mentioned things about the mounts. People just need to get used to something different, same as I had to do with these mounts in my beloved GW.

I never post on the forum, but it saddened me to see such negative feedback on mounts. I can’t understand you guys. I, personally, never liked mounts in mmorpgs and I never wanted them in guild wars. I always told people “mounts have nothing to do in guild wars” and here I am, loving my experience on the raptor. It’s fast, smooth, and most of all, it feels special. Some of you guys were upset about the way the raptor turns, I on the contrary love this. I love the way this feels like I’m riding a beast and not incarnating it. I love the animations, they are awesome and so smooth I’d like to thank the guys that worked on it. I’m still a bit scared that everyone I see will always be on a mount when Path of Fire will be out, and that’s one of the things I never liked about mounts : why move on foot if you have a mount ? But that’s another debate (and contrary to one of the posts here, I really believe that dismounting when interracting is a great way to reduce mount-overcrowding). Right now I can say that I love riding the raptor. I’m not even playing the beta because I want to experience it further with the new elite specs, so I’m just running around on my mount, then log out and play with my regular characters, and then log back in just to run around with the raptor a bit again.

So, just a post to say kuddos to the teams that worked on it. I know it’s often the negative feedback that are loud and visible because when you like something you don’t necessarily need to talk about it, but I really hope you guys at Arena Net still believe the way you made mounts move was the right one. The only thing concerning I admit is the motion sickness issue some of the players brought up already on the forum. I don’t have an opinion about that because I don’t experience motion sickness, but I really hope it won’t change too much the current experience.

I have BEEN my character’s mount in every game i have played, this is the first time i actually feel like i am riding a diffrent entity. Whatever you did, please ANET i beg you, do not change a thing about the mounts!!!! Thanks

Also, the animations are out of this world, and the textures in the whole game deserve to be hanged in a museum. This is ART.

Great job Anet!

Metal plated horns.

Long sweeping, curved horns like an Ibex.

Twisted spiraling horns.

I like the ram’s horns as someone said earlier. I know we have the sweeping forward type but a set of sweeping ram’s horns going back would be nice.

Horns like a water buffalo would be cool.

Bull horns would be cool as well.

As for hair. I am a sucker for Mohawks. as well braids.
